Threadly reminder that you will NEVER watch the DS9 spinoff where Dukat, Kira, Damar, and Ziyal go on space adventures in a stolen Bird of Prey
You will NEVER watch Dukat slowly work his magic on Kira and redpill her on the occupation
You will NEVER watch the episode where Damar and Weyoun put aside their differences over a raucous 24-hour Kanar bender
You will NEVER watch the episode where Kira has to give Ziyal 'the talk'

I would create a late 1930s cinema draft house in Upper Manhattan with nothing but holo-Germans who came en masse to watch Triumph of the Will.

I'd wait in the film booth while they packed into the theatre. Once it go to Hitler's speech, I'd select a variety of modern weapons to start scoping them out or just cause general mayhem.

They will be in utter shock and fear but the exits are chained shut. I start to lob grenades about into this large crowd of humanity. Mayhem ensues and the people are pleading for their lives.

This is when I finally open the window and yell out to the prostrate crowd...

"Life itself is only a vision… a dream. Nothing exists, save empty space and you. And you… are but a thought."

Then I turn around and casually order "Computer, Arch" and exit the holodeck without turning off the program.

It is assumed that those injured will suffer and die and be attended to by the very few left who were not victims of my assault.
>>

>>
>>69187532

>>
>>69187532
I have a better question.

Why would you not want to do The Battle of Wolf 359?
>>
>>69186450
Why are the Q so afraid of the Borg? In "Q2", Q scolds Q for agitating the borg. What's the deal?
>>
>>69187563
>Why would you not want to do that?
Presumably, if I'm in a Trek setting with some holodecks, Wolf 359 happened somewhere between immediately and ten years ago. It was a terrible battle, and I probably lost family in it.

Unless, we're talking about just you existing outside of the universe. Then yeah, I get it.

If we're talking hopeless scenarios, I wonder if a Lovecraft story could be adapted to a holodeck narrative.
>>
>>69187636
Scolding him didn't mean they were afraid of them. Q could have made their entire race disappear on a whim.
It was more the fact that he was taking seriously liberties in messing with the natural development of the Milky Way Galaxy
>>
>>69187636
>Why are the Q so afraid of the Borg?
Because Q2 was a horribly-written episode.

The only in-universe reason I can come up with is the Q see pissing off the Borg like dropping a hornet's nest on someone's (namely, the mortals of the galaxy) head.

Because the Borg are belligerent and bent on conquest. Making them more so is unreasonable.

>Commander Riker uses the holodeck for everything, from his darkest fantasies to the most ridiculously mundane task. One day he'll be oil wrestling with kangaroos on top of a giant mattress or making love to a duplicate of himself with huge breasts. The next day he'll show up in his bathrobe and use the holodeck to shower and shave himself. What makes me hate him is that Riker pays no attention to the rules about bodily fluids. He will use the holodeck just to go to the bathroom. He'll have a floating toilet made out of clouds and he'll lay the biggest and smelliest deuce I've seen this side of the neutral zone. Then he'll just walk right out like he's allowed to do that.

Sex and violence fantasies aside, probably mostly this

>>
Scenario 1: Centauress waifu. I'd program her not to shit because that's not something I want to deal with and I'd probably just upscale the doorways of all the houses.

Scenario 2: Xenomorph Girl, with human lips instead of the scary teeth and boobs/butt/vag. No acid blood. Sapient and intelligent, capable of human communication.

Scenario 3: Early 21st Cent. Helping a waifish young girl transition into being a boy, sharing my clothes, playing video-games together

Scenario 4: Some sort of immense zoo attended entirely by emotionless robot where I can fuck all the animals ever discovered on any planet

Scenario 5: Some sort of violent wild-woman who will do everything in her power to repeatedly rape me, just hard enough for it not to be entirely enjoyable (I'm talking fractures here) and I'd have to fight her off.

Scenario 6: A world where I'm completely invisible and incorporeal and can wander through watching people go about their every day lives. The world is populated exclusively by women of every different colour and species.

Scenario 7: Every Alien Star Trek actor lines up in front of my, beginning with Armin Shimerman. They each approach me and I get to peel the prosthetics off their face - they thank me and tell me how uncomfortable it was then move on.

Scenario 8: I replicate myself a suit of golden armour, and present myself to a neolithic tribe and become their god. I preside over this tribe for thousands upon thousands of years essentially using my knowledge of the future to "cheat" the system (if I fuck up, I can just rewind it) building a sprawling utopia. Periodically, I'd elect personal concubines and catamites from the best I could find in my entire empire.

Scenario 9: A girlfriend who doesn't look at me with disgust when I ask to watch her pee.

nb; I'd work my entire life to get enough latinum to get and maintain a personal holo-deck because I' pretty sure I couldn't get away with this on Star Fleet.

They discovered infinite speed, and the only side effect was easily reversible using radiation therapy. Why didn't they use it to go back to Earth and then have everybody undergo the radiation treatment from The Doctor? Why didn't they send it on autopilot to Earth with a message about their location? Why didn't they ever mention it again?

"Star Trek on UPN was a mistake." - Gene Roddenberry

The poll was posted in the first place because some /trek/ posters kept insisting that DS9 is the most Reddit series. Well, that poll made for good proof otherwise.

TOS was great for it's time, but it has now reached it's time where everything about how it was filmed, how the sets were made, the music and pace of storytelling, the costuming, the entire college theatre feel of it, it really destroys any immersion until actual good acting occurs which is usually between Kirk, Spock, and Bones. Those three are all that redeem the show to me, save for the beautiful women.

The storylines were typical Roddenberry scripts. The only character development was in the main three and even then, it was mostly Spock. Everything else had a very perfunctory feel to it.

But Gene set out to create a decent sci-fi show, not something that would turn into a billion dollar franchise. His timing was perfect and his casting were perfect. But the best stuff came after TOS, that should be evidenced by TNG's ratings which were unreal towards the end (15 million viewers for some episodes).

>I love most Trek I just find this "go back to plebbit" shit really dull and childish. I only come to /tv/ for Trek threads and barely anything else.

>Gene Roddenberry, remembering his experiences with NBC in the sixties, had the perfect response.

>>
>>69190824
Every criticism anon made was accurate though.
TOS is iconic and it invented much of the core Trek lore, but when viewed objectively rather than as a product of its time, it's not great.
TOS started airing only 3-4 years after color tv itself had become universalized in the US, and everything from the acting to the set design to the screenwriting to the camera work to the sound mixing is marred by the newness of the medium and the close connection with stage acting.
The theatrical or 'stagelike' quality of Trek remained through all the spinoff series and is a core part of the franchise, but TOS takes it up to 20 in terms of blocking that would be laughed at today.
On a basic level, people tend to underestimate just how far the economy of ideas has come in the last 50 years, in the area of speculative fiction more than perhaps anything else. We're only 20 years from DS9/VOY and even they seem retrograde in the treatment of subjects like AI and computerization

I would agree someone is a pleb if they 'dislike' TOS or complain about something like 'the special effects aren't good' but I totally understand ranking it lowly on the scale of Trek series

I'm sick and tired of Star Trek threads being derailed by petty arguments, so I want to set the record straight once and for all: A filename of this nature is not indicative of a file saved from Imgur. Even though this combination of letters might be confusing to your feeble little mind, that fact has no bearing on the fact that this filename is an original construction, specifically in the form of an initialism (NOT an acronym, in case anyone is dumb enough to think so). In this case, the letters "TWtDTtrwtwwatJ" are used as a short form of "Three Ways to Do This: the right way, the wrong way and the Janeway", because those words describe the comedic content of this humorous image. They do not indicate that this file was saved with that name from the URL of the file on Imgur, because it wasn't. So don't even f*cking think of bringing up Imgur if you know what's good for you.

Now that that's over with, let's go back to talking about Star Trek.

>>69191500
No, you're absolutely right, but my point was in terms of viewership there is a correlation with the previous demographics preference which in this case was TNG. The two were diametrically opposed in every way except for the universe they were portrayed in. Many of these fans were die-hard "Trekkies" who couldn't see a show that felt more realistic with character development. Nonetheless, it struggled and still more people dislike it than like it compared to TNG.

Same can be said with twice the effort comparing TNG to VOY.

So my point is actually valid in the larger scope which is what I was going for.

Here's the program I'd write, it's about 3 hours long:

I start by having passionate sex with Allison Brie. I cum inside her, and then over the next 2 hours or so, we spoon and play Mario Kart or Super Smash Brothers while she slowly bloats as 9 months of gestation take place in a matter of hours.

She goes into labor, but there's a complication. In order for birth to happen, I have to fuck her and stimulate her vaginal orgasm contractions with an enzyme in my semen that modulates her cervical oxytocin and allows delivery to finish.I nut in her, my baby slides out, and then I watch her nurse it. I start fucking her again while she's nursing it, I nut again and collapse on her, a holy trinity. Then I have the holodeck turn the baby's flesh into funnel cake filled with creme brulee and strawberry ice cream with whipped cream, and we ravenously consume it together.

This reply has all most reached meme status at this point.

Why are racist posts even being posted in Star Trek threads in the first place? Because /pol/ can't control itself.

Ezri getting KLINGON'd was the fault of degenerate Jadzia's memories pushing through when Worf was forcing himself on her. After she made her mistake she realized how disgusting it was and repented
Bashir was genetically engineered so he was an ubermensch even though he was Arab, plus he was part Anglo in the first place
Ezri is pure and would NEVER debase herself with an inferior species under her own volition

Where did you find this vague definition? If you google 'define false flag' the first result is wikipedia which clearly states
>The contemporary term false flag describes covert operations that are designed to deceive in such a way that the operations appear as though they are being carried out by entities, groups, or nations other than those who actually planned and executed them

I quote, emphasis added:
>Does it no longer mean WHAT IT ORIGINALLY MEANT (an orchestrated event meant to affect a specific change)

The idea that this is what it 'originally meant' is categorically wrong, and this sophism about how it originated in the modern age with 9/11 is laughable
There is no 'umbrella' of false-flagging that entails 'any event to orchestrate change'. Really, basic interpretive logic should tell you that the phrase would not be "False flag" if it didn't actually have anything to do with false identities.

With that post I was confused also because you interpreted incorrectly since that post is so CLEARLY just a bait post and hardly false-flagging (and I feel sorry for you if you truly believe it was that).
While the original definition I gave could've been fleshed out more, never was the term used in the mainstream until 9/11 truthers came forth with a growing body of evidence about what might have happened at 9/11.
Your definition isn't wrong but you're inability to spot that as nothing more than simple bait is embarassing.
I was implying by that a conspiratorial event meant to affect a change (a negative one where the conspirators achieve their goals from the change therein affected).

You want to keep talking about this shit all night so you can give yourself a false-flag victory where you win a $100 (fun) dollars?

Consider the consequentialism of absolute divinity, wherein anything intended or decided by the given divinity becomes truth ipso facto
You can see the notion exemplified in Christianity here in Milton's Paradise Lost, book 3, line 133:
>Father, who art judge / Of all things made, and judgest only right

Now consider Ezri's godhead. Since she accepted Bashir, that necessarily makes him a superior and acceptable partner

That's a false flag, according to the worldwide accepted definition for false flags.

It's bait too, but guess what-- it can be bait AND a false flag at the same time.

You disagreed because you have your own, separate, incompatible definition for false flagging, one which you are completely unable to provide a source for.

>never was the term used in the mainstream until 9/11 truthers came forth
You are unable to provide a source for this too.

>You want to keep talking about this shit all night so you can give yourself a false-flag victory where you win a $100 (fun) dollars?

I am not the person who kept insisting that the last one was a false flag. The first two were false flags (hell, I posted one of them), but the last one was too on-the-nose to be taken as one.
In that much, I agree with you.

What I will still maintain is bullshit is this notion that the term 'false flag' was some forgotten obsoletism that was dredged up by 9/11. It has been used throughout the modern era and, while frequently conencted with 9/11, it has no more correlation with that than many other attacks.
To see for yourself, search 'false flag' in this 1.9 billion word corpus search:
http://corpus.byu.edu/wiki/
There are loads of usages on stuff from way before 9/11

If anything, the term was popularized by the sinking of the Maine in 1895

I'm stupified by your stupidity in regards to that post with the kid and the basketball. If I post this pic am I false-flagging, hmm?

I basically said your definition is right and that I was giving a simple question that was based on your lousy ability to detect complete bait (nothing more).

So the entire thing is based in both your mis-interpreting someone else's definition of a false flag (assuming the cited is what you believe it to be - as do I) but also your inability to read between the lines of my definition.

Conspirators plan an event which is meant to affect change; the type that could negatively effect a certain people, geographic region, government, or just no one intended because the ends are what matters).

Imagine if this entire thread was dictated by citations on opinions that are barely provable but salient nonetheless. This, of course, in regards to your asking me for a source on the 9/11 truther claim. The internet became an outlet for these more political terms to become mainstream, especially when you consider the hivemind that is /pol/.

My only mistake was not typing out a very specific definition of what I knew as false flagging.

Oh, we need a citation, sorry, penalty on the sidelines.
Also, your search criteria gives me 310 hits out of 1.9 billion, so staggering I like I felt my nostrils flare.
>>69194691
Okay, well you have me there but my point remains that the general idea there is a event meant to be perceived as something that it is not for the sake of affecting a change that would work to the advantage of the prime-mover party involved (and not just for the specific intent of disparaging a single group).

If that's backpedaling, then I concede to that one.

I still want you to admit you couldn't spot the easiest bait in this thread and not only that, made the assumption that it was a "false-flag" attempt.
