There are degrees of realism and whether or not something breaks reality varies from person to person.
I can accept most anything in fiction as long as it is conveyed in a believable way within the context of that piece of fiction.
In the novels at least, I'd be very put off by a dual wielding sword fighter because so far in terms of military and combat the novels have been pretty realistic. The show likes to have climatic 1 vs 1 duels during battles between characters, but in the books the only time this has ever happened has been at the Trident when Robert killed Rhaegar. In fact, one of the reasons that battle is so famous is precisely because of how unusual it was to have the two respective "leaders" of their armies actually meet 1 on 1.
