Other Martell minor houses wouldn't support it, because the sand snakes are crazy whores who just killed the leader that all the minor houses pledged loyalty towards and are honorbound to serve, and other factions wouldnt support it either- because noble-blood is a big deal and not something that they would take lightly (also, the minor houses and military would know this, and would also factor it in their ruling).
The military is not composed of just twenty good men, it is composed of the armies of the minor houses that provide men and men. These houses would be hesitant.
Of course, the sand snakes magically have the army behind their backs, apparently- which makes no fucking sense.
Compare this to another betrayal in the show:

Furthermore, this factions openly claims it wants to eliminate the current ruling faction (Lannister)that is in alliance with another major military powerhouse (Tyrell) that is relatively close to the region. Even furthermore, this unstable faction assassinated the Kings sister, and has earned the wrath of the queen regeant, who definitely gives a shit and has killed people off for less. Even even furthermore, the Lannisters are not that bad- sure Tywin is dead, but other than that and a minor religious annoyance, they are strong military wise, they control the crown, and have an alliance with one of the strongest houses.
So why wouldn't they give a shit?
