Defending this anti-intellectual trash exposes you as a fraud masquerading as a "patrician" film buff. This film is awful. It's everything wrong with Hollywood. Its The Amazing Spider-Man 2 x10: shoving a bunch of shit into one movie just to desperately jumpstart something that attempts to resemble a coherent cinematic universe. Supporting this film is to support the downfall of high budget entertainment that doesn't treat it's audience like gaping fools that'll buy an admission ticket as long as CGI filmed fights are promised.
Stop saying this film is good. It's not. It's awful. The only positive is Larry Fong's cinematography. Everything else is a disgrace to the genre. Zack Snyder is a hack with frat boy sensibilities that can't even tell a story about what inspired him to become a filmmaker. This alone tells you everything you need to know. Even Ben Affleck knows this film is utter trash.

In Man of Steel Superman unites both the Old Testament and the New Testament kinda like he unites both Krypton and Earth in a way. He forges something new from both.
In BvS the imagery is there to deify Superman and give the movie a mythic flair, but the whole thing is a desconstruction because Superman is NOT Jesus Christ. His character struggle with his limited power and feels uneasy with the idolization of his image.

In the eyes of the audience. You're supposed to be swayed by the imagery and the scenes of people idolizing him and think yourself that Superman's supposed to be divine and some sort of Christ figure. The movie wants YOU to fall for this kind of thinking.
Then as the movie progresses you start to see that Superman is just a man. He's too late sometimes, he can't know about things if he's isn't checking the news, he can't hear everything, he some times doesn't pay attention to obvious things, he loses his temper and, most importantly, he bleeds.
So he isn't really divine or the second coming of Christ. The world and it's people, and the audience, of course, simple projected that unto him.

It was trying to be too many things at once; an action film, a political drama, a crime thriller, a dream sequenced film with horror scenes.
Majority of people went into the theatre wanting to see Batman fight Superman and unfortunately the movie was not about this at all.
In parts it tried to be a Batman film, other parts it tried to be a sequel to Man of Steel, other parts it tried to be an episode of a Daily Bugle planet show; about Lois Lane investigating into a bullet.
I enjoyed it for what it was worth but yeah this movie was "too big for little minds".

Just watched it yesterday
The script and dialogue are really bad and needs a ton of work. The editing and pacing of the film as well (setting up a Justice league in between the climax of the final fight between Bat and Supes)
I really hate that there is no contrast (in tone and color) between the Batman and Superman scenes. The fight between them was mediocre.
Jesse as Lex could've worked but it seemed like he was phoning it in or didn't really give a damn about the movie or maybe it's the script's fault. He felt like a joker without the face paint and happened to be rich. Really felt like one of his other character portrayals in American Ultra or Facebook.
WW is a miscast and was not needed for this movie.
The movie wanted to be the Death of Superman with a mashup of TDKR. It just doesn't work because of how it is setup in the script (please fire Goyer)
Cinematography was okay. Some of the explosion effects were too bright in some scenes where you wanted to know what was going on. Music was bland.
Characterization was all over the place except for Batman (excluding all the murders he did). Keep Affleck but no more killing. Cavill was a really shitty Superman in terms of acting, those facial expressions are just terrible to see Superman doing a childlike scream.
I don't know why there were so many scenes of Batman just looking out of his car and plane window. Too little action in between all the talking. We only see batman do actual batman stuff for a couple of times.
Trying too hard to sneak in the Justice League in one movie and using clips where Lex Luthor designed all their logos as well.

I admit that the movie could do without her and that she's there mostly for sequel-bait, but she has a function:
She was someone who gave up on others and hid her powers, and thanks to what happened realized that her powers are needed still and re-found the pleasure in showing it.
She represents hope for Batman in the romantic sense. Batman had abandoned his humanity. Remember all the witty-banter with Alfred where he begged for a Wayne heir?
She also connects Batman with the other metas. She, like the others, are not Batman's responsibility. He has to find, connect and care for them.
The above two also works for Wonder Woman. She had given up on men and now found a handsome stud that reconnected her to humanity, and like Batman, she has a connection to metas and need to find, connect and care for them.
Basically Batman is the new father figure and Wonder Woman is the new mother figure.
