The casting is definitely questionable, and some of the writing is also pretty crap.

yes
>>67295539
Nobody, I'm just saying; Starship Troopers is far from perfect. It isn't even Verhoeven's best film, not by a long way. Aliens or T2 are both better than Starship Troopers.
Took long enough...
>>67294962
not at all. you will love it from the first second.
Runaway Train, starring Jon Voights, Eric Roberts and Rebecca de Mornay
>>67294305
This movie was embarassingly bad. It's like one of those sci fy original movies
>>67295660
Jaws is alright, but to say it's better than Jurassic Park is fucking stupid. The casting and acting is great for what it is; but it's a B-movie by todays standards.Jurassic Park still holds up two decades later.

>>67294793
This movie was fucking destroyed by an unecessary romantic subplot. I watched this movie twice: the first time I watched the whole thing properly, and the second time I skipped past every romantic scene involving Deniro or Pacino. You know what? It was 10x better watching it the second way. The subplot is like molasses that ruins an otherwise perfect movie
>>67295918
it's shittier than the George Pal version
it's shittier than Minority Report even. it's a waste of Tom Cruise and of Tim Robbings
>>67295687

Yes, that's exactly what women do to men who have goals. That was entirely the point.
If you notice every single woman in the movie contributed to the destruction of the men they claimed to love. All of them.
>>67296429
Heat is pretty boring. Leon is better.
Can't believe it hasn't been mentioned yet
>>67296347
i like FBDO but in my opinion Matthew Brodderick can't interpret well all the time in the movie. I don't like him so much

People don't realize that Frank Stallone did half the reaction shots in First Blood.
Rohmer is the best.
>>67296994
You blind? Look at him that definitely Cobra!
>>67296572
Not perfect but one of my favorites. McDonagh is a sloppier but darker version of prime Mamet. This is my favorite overall work by him though followed by The Pillowman.
>>67294262
I'm about to watch Robocop actually, I heard it's better than The Terminator which was okay.
All jokes aside this is a near perfect summer-blockbuster. Only one step below Raiders imo desu.
>>67297221
They're tonally different films
>>67294522
You guys must be those fantasy elf dorks, this movie was so ridiculously cliche and bad. He loses, then comes back and doesn't lose. Why do you pretend to like it? The cheap special effects? James Earl Jones?
>>67295347
Schindler's List
>>67296436
Yes.
>>67297248
I'd also add that they're totally different movies as well
1 and 2 ..it has everything that makes a great movie...coming of age, teacher student, all of that
>>67297245
It's better than Raiders.

I never felt like that, Casino has a kind of presence that I want to soak in. While on the other hand I stop caring about Goodfellas when it jumps to the cocaine shit

Goodfellas is for faggot wops anyway
Die Hard 1.

it's not, but it's a good spiritual successor desu sempai

I watched Blade Runner the other day and I was surprised by horribly bad it was especially Ford's milquetoast voice-over

This term is literally meaningless outside of vidya.

If Die Hard is reddit then I'm going there right now.

try not watching movies on netflix next time you dumb faggot
>>67298221
This movie feels like the lost fourth masterpiece of the Verhoeven SciFi Trifecta.
>>67298202
Ridley is a hack indeed, but Blade Runner, Alien and maybe The Duellist are actually great movies.
Who knows how he pulled them off.
>>67297708
Definitely GOAT OST.
Literally action kino
>>67298203
I never thought I'd miss that Hungarian coward.
>>67298265
No way it's like a Verhoeven movie.
Demolition is great but it has no subtext. It's all text.
>>67298225
all Blade Runner does is look beautiful but the plot and pacing is all kinds of whack
the director manages to fuck up and make the movie boring as shit and made the lines all flat, maybe its the writers fault but you know youre movie is flawed when the best line is from an adlib
Apocalypse Now
Goodfellas
Rushmore
I can watch them over and over.
>>67298509

Too much romantic nonsense. Really brings the movie down.
>>67295218
Way to out yourself as a complete moron. It's a good thing you're anonymous and have freedom to be incorrect without damaging your IRL reputation
>>67299302
Because it wasn't perfect. The ending is godawful, and there's so much terrible bullshit scattered throughout that it can ruin the entire fucking movie if you think about it too much.
>>67294442
love JJL in this
Almost 200 posts and not one of you cocksuckers remembered this one.
>>67299615
I feel like thats just a big problem for a lot of movies, where the main story is great and the movie is awesome but they just try to fucking shoehorn so much romance into it that way starts to bring the whole movie down
>>67299808
I was thinking of posting it but decided not to
>>67299523
>>67299488
>>67299302
For the longest time I'd seen the just the cover or the Netflix image of this movie and had never watched it. I assumed it was some Syfi Original kung-fu movie set in Tibet or something.
Watched it on a whim and was glued to it. It was weird, it was violent, and it was quirky. Reminded me of the first time I'd seen Kill Bill on Cinimax. I've watched it like once since then, but I think it's a pretty good movie. Up there with Demolition Man, but not near Starship Troopers or Robo Cop.
>>67294262
>>67300048
this movie had so many bad critics i didn't watch it until recently. i don't know why the bad rep
>>67299833
>>67299615
I've always thought this too. I've watched a lot of these movies with my gf, and she said it's to make them more "human" i.e. not boring to people who don't care about the main story of every single movie.
It has to be marketable to every demographic possible so that it can sell tickets to pay for itself. I think recent producers have focused too much on their formulas for profit margins than in the art of the project itself. The movies LOOK good, but the story just isn't memorable because it's watered down to appeal to the widest market possible.
>>67300048
Speed Racer is actually fucking shit though. I want this meme to end, it's garbage.
>>67296490
This, re watching it again recently, I've come to this conclusion. The women add to the pain that the men are going through. Very Important to the story.
>>67299808
Still haven't managed to see that yet.
>>67299924
One of my favorites as a kid.

>>67297401
Yeah, it did still feel short. Maybe there was more in the book that they had to trim out. Never read the book.
>>67300048
Def not as bad as people say, but nowhere near perfect. I do love the second half though, it's really a cartoon come to life at that point
>>67300048
One of the few films that uses CGI in an expressive way, not only by enhancing the visual effects, but by actually affecting the narrative. That ended up throwing away any kind of "realism" but who gives a fuck, it's amazing.
