I watched On the Silver Globe thanks to this thread. What a fucking mess of a movie. The imagery was phenomenal, and I'll admit it's unlike anything I've seen. But Jesus, it was so incosistent. The music never fit, especially when the guitar started up. Characters were all over the place. The dialogue was extremely obtuse. I'm glad I watched it but I can't claim that I enjoyed it.

It's unconventional but I don't think it's awful. Cantonese comedy is pretty out there and there's some weird dubbing going on, but an actor performance is more than just how they deliver dialogues, there's a lot of raw sensuality and physicality in this film. You could watch it without subtitles and still understand it. Maggie Cheun is mesmerizing:
