I think it looks worse but not significantly or bad. The big difference is they went with a more tradiotanal almost 60s look with the mask and ASM2 was trying to be modern and have the big eyes.
Also in ASM2 they had a bunch of mini patters like little chains and dots on the blue that are absent in this one and at least to me they dont need to be there at all and I like their removal.
