Is it trrue that if you find a lost episode they gift you a 1:1 dalek model?
>>

Not true. You need to feel anger to be able to ue the dark side and daleks dont have emotions.
>>
>>63808814
No, the guy used to say he didn't watch the Christmas specials because he was atheist. It's okay that you are new, but I think we have a page on the wikia you might want to check before asking about specific memes.

You seem to be confusing them with the Cybermen. The Daleks, however, pretty much function on anger and hate.

Daleks are the most deppressing being in the whoverse... I just started series nine. The fact that their voice modulators are rigged to change what they say "I am your friend"/ "EXTERMINATE!"

Why would they give the possibility of individuality if they cant expres it?

Also. Never saw classic Dr. Who. How the fuck a squid manage to create suck a complex machine? Does it even have proper limbs to do so?
>>
>>63809432
Hatred is an emotion, no?
And there was that one Dalek that was scared, right? in Series 01 Dalek?
Then there was the one in Remembrance of the Daleks that was bored. The one operating the transmat. But I'm not sure if ennui is really an emotion.

>>
>>63809494
>Also. Never saw classic Dr. Who. How the fuck a squid manage to create suck a complex machine? Does it even have proper limbs to do so?
Originally they were created by humanoids specifically under the command of Davros, but as they became a full on race what they do best is slave labor. They take over planets and use the natives as factories, building weapons, armor, creating more Daleks and so on. A lot of their stuff is capable of being operated by a few tentacles, and outside that they can control things in the world with their plunger.

>>63809542
>Hatred is an emotion, no?
Are you serious? Of course hatred is an emotion, as is love. Daleks were never designed to have no emotions, they always had them. Davros only suppressed the more positive ones. And being only suppressed it was possible for the emotions to be regained in bizarre circumstances which is why the filter was created.

That shit was kind of stupid tbqh. I mean, you can shoot a Dalek and kill it when it's young-ish and still in solid form, but once it gets old and soupy it somehow doesn't die even though it's body is totally BTFO? Like, if they are still conscious and the tanks are driven by will, wouldn't it be an advantage for them to be in a soupy seemingly less vulnerable state in a jar inside of the tanks?

Shit literally doesn't make sense, right?

>>
>>63810083
I don't recall exactly, but I think all the Daleks on Skaro were linked to Davros weren't they? I think because they shared that "lifeforce or whatever fucking terrible idea they used" it was only the Daleks on Skaro that became soup. A Dalek somewhere else in the universe would probably age to death and couldn't survive as soup.

The idea is still stupid, but it makes more sense than they physically can't die from aging.
>>
>>63810381
I kind of liked the idea.
>>
>>63810344
I really think Moffat is gay for RTD. Literally everything he says about that man is stroking his dick. I don't think he has every publicly said anything bad about him.
>>
>>63810381
It does make a degree of sense that the only reason the sewer Daleks were still alive was because Davros was still alive.
>>
>>63810464
I remember him making some jokes about Rose once. That's not really RTD specifically though.
>>
>>63810464

>>

>>
>>63810565
>implying RTD didn't retcon the Time War himself
>>
>>63810486
What I don't get is how Davros could sustain every Dalek. He's a sick old man and he is fine with sharing his life forces with millions if not billions of Daleks? Maybe it's the opposite, where the Daleks are actually pooling their life energy to share with all the other Daleks and keeping Davros alive, but every dead Dalek would just be draining all that energy making each live one individually weaker with each death.

>>63810610
Yeah but I figured the joke of Rusty the Dalek being gay and having a husband was a poke at RTD given they share a nickname.

Because he had been self-circlejerking his shitty headcanon since the BBS days (plenty of proof out there of this) which he immediately thrust into the gaping canonhole of Who the moment he got a chance to.

Any one of you autists would do the exact same thing if you thought you had an amazing storyline and became the showrunner.
>>
>>63810654

The retconning was the Pandorica, where the Doctor made a bunch of comments in that series about stuff like the giant Victorian cyberman and other things RTD did and how ridiculous they were. The universe reset was literally just a way to explain how those events went unnoticed, because in the rebooted universe they just never happened.

Ruining the Time War was the underwhelming 50th special.
>>
>>63810722

Honestly, I can't even believe Moffat thinks he has good ideas any more. Every season's overarching story just flounders around being pointless and underwhelming.
>>
>>63810722
Oh wow and i was just about to start watching the new series.

Yep, not gonna happen. Forced lesbian dialogue and a 150ft t-rex in the first episode was an indicator of its overall quality afterall.

To my understanding none of this was eliminated the only thing changed were the things affected by the cracks like Amy's family. Plus it's a different Era of the show and a lot of things "disappeared" like Wilf and other characters from RTD's era.

>Time Lords had already appeared on The End of Time, implying that the destruction of Gallifrey hadn't happened.

No, if you were paying attention, the Time War was time locked on the last day and everyone in the time lock was repeating the last day eternally. The Doctor ended the Time War by genociding everyone on both sides, but there was still some portion of history in which the Time War continued to play out its last day forever and the time lock prevented anyone from getting in or out. They even mention this in The End of Time.

How the Time Lords appeared was through managing to send that star thing out of the time lock because of its specific properties, then they traced it in combination with the signal from the Master's drums in his head that were being amplified literally 6 billion times because he turned everyone on Earth into himself. The Time Lords appearance didn't imply Gallifrey wasn't destroyed because they pulled Time Lord time shenanigans to appear FROM the Time War.

To make this really effective they genetically engineered Daleks that couldn't die of old age.

>>
>>63812344
Im guessing the world filter is advanced enough to know the true intentions of the dalek
Want to express friendliness to someone: EXTERMINATE!
Want to lie about being friendly: Not filtered.

Wait... correct me if im wrong but wasnt the first dalek we saw out of its casing in the modern series kinda friendly?

>Wait... correct me if im wrong but wasnt the first dalek we saw out of its casing in the modern series kinda friendly?

Not that anon but that Dalek had been rendered part human cause he leeched stuff from Rose in order to power and fix himself and his shell.
>>
>>63812489
Must have had a hell of a time getting them to work right then. I've encountered some filters that can't even tell when something is simply part of a word.

That Dalek had absorbed some of Rose's DNA and that's why it acted that way. I'm also assuming that the filter thing came about in later generations of Dalek.

Slut shaming is the act of attacking women for expressing any level of sexuality whilst simultaneously congratulating men for expressing any level of sexuality. So a question. Who are those men having sex with? Either we're cheering the men for having sex with each other or we're cheering the men for having sex with the women that we're simultaneously slut shaming.

On topic, I haven't been this excited by a Doctor Who Christmas special in years. Love that River's back, love that her simple existence bothers some people, and love the open hypocrisy on display.
>>
>>63822327

What hypocrisy is on display?
>>
>>63818169
Fuck people who think the Doctor ought to be nice to them or the people in the show they project themselves on.
>>
>>63822676
There is also a Radiolab podcast where they definitively state that The Doctor is asexual, and those guys are usually pretty thorough with their research so there must be a ton of stupid shit out there with that notion, totally disregarding the fact that The Doctor has children and grandchildren (see Pilot episode)... people project whatever stupid stuff they want because the world is slowly being saturated with 100% pure Autism
>>
>>63817819
Wouldn't that be incest though?
>>
>>63823230

They hate their idol showing any actual feelings and want him to be as bland as themselves - also explains the looms.

The Doctor isn't asexual, he had a wife on Gallifrey and had a child with her and a grandchild. The Eighth and Eleventh Doctors are probably the most romantic with companions. Look at Grace, Benny and River Song.
>>
>>63823230
There are asexual people with children though. I know this because I just googled it.

Women deserve to be slut-shamed. Their biological role is to keep their legs shut until someone worthy of passing on their genetic material comes along. If a woman sleeps around, she's doing a shitty job of ensuring that future generations are healthy and strong.

It is a man's job to enter a vagina. If a man succeeds, he should be congratulated on fulfilling his biological role.

Hell Bent has a dramatic structure, an arc and a conclusion, which already puts it above Forest of the Night. Yeah that's what doesn't quite work about that episode, it requires the audience to go along with 'it thinks Daleks must be killed, that must be because it has morals' so that it can go 'lol the dalek was just broken' later.
>>

>so that it can go 'lol the dalek was just broken' later.
yeah, and then it goes BACK to trying to convince us it's good! And I mean them talking about the Dalek pre-fix, not when Doctor Tucker the Time Fucker has a go. Incidentally, that puts Rusty effectively back to square one, except everyone finally gets that it doesn't make him good. What the fuck were they doing when they wrote this episode? S1's Dalek was way better at doing the whole "Dalek with Morals" thing, in the sense that it viewed them as a corruption, and then fucking aloo snackbar'd itself.

I wouldn't say it goes all the way with that, it's just the Doctor tries to capitalise on the temporary expansion of consciousness caused by its malfunction to turn it good for real (by fixing its memory banks and doing a mind link with it), but then the Dalek just sees all the hatred within the Doctor and reverts to being a killy-kill machine.

which admittedly is a good conclusion, and probably the best thing about the episode, the fact that there IS no good Dalek. Incidentally, when Rusty claims The Doctor is a good Dalek? Total bollocks line only used cause it sounds imposing and big, The Doctor would only be a good Dalek if his mission was eliminating all non-Time Lords. Still, one of the better episodes of S8
>>
>>63831151
not seen Horror of Fang Rock yet, is the deal with the Sontaran/Rutan war that both sides are pretty fucking awful? Cause I'd like that
>>
>>63831211

It's strange how the Sontarans are locked in a war for centuries against a bunch of jellyfish.
>>
>>63831174
It was tied with a theme of a good man, but this plotline came to no actual conclusion. Anyway, I like how Dalek apparently decided to turn on his kind because they weren't hardcore enough for his taste.

>The Doctor would only be a good Dalek if his mission was eliminating all non-Time Lords.
Rusty calls him a 'good Dalek' as in 'Dalek that is good', not in the Rob Shearman's Dalek sense of 'good at being a Dalek'. If a Good Dalek ever really existed, it would still be a machine of destruction built with a gun in its shell, it would just destroy people according to a set of supposed moral values.

I liked the Time War because it was pretty much an inevitability. When you set up so many powerful races with OP technology and weapons and penchants for controlling or destroying everything and give them all time travel AND make them piss each other off until there's a universe-scale rivalry existing throughout most of time... you're gonna end up with a war. And that war, with their available technologies, is going to get out of hand on a universal scale.

I also liked the side of the Doctor that was brought out by the Time War being in his past. I enjoyed 9's PTSD. I liked 10's rose-colored perception of the Time Lords out of guilt and loneliness, along with him dealing with being the last Time Lord in a universe where Time Lords are now forgotten. I just liked seeing then characterization it brought to have that looming over his head.

What I hate about Moffat's handling of the Time War is that he just casually reverses it with zero rhyme or reason.

Remember when 11 is taken to a wartorn Skaro? He asks how it's even possible to go there because it should be time locked. The answer is, "I dunno lol, guess there's no time lock now." It's never actually explained, they just handwave over it.

Then you have the 50th, where the ending of the Time War is completely retconned and Gallifrey is saved, transported to a pocket dimension and frozen in time until the Doctor can figure out how to save them. Oh wait, did I say frozen in time? Because apparently when you're frozen in time in a pocket dimension it's possible to open a tear between dimensions and send regeneration energy through it. Which means they could observe the Doctor, hear him, and had the ability to communicate with him. So why did they never reach out to 9 or 10? Did they just decide he should be allowed to stew in undeserved guilt for a few hundred years for no reason?

Then the cherry on top is Gallifrey returning with no explanation. Last we knew, Gallifrey was stuck in a pocket dimension and locked away. The Doctor didn't yet know how to rescue it, and he stated a couple times they wouldn't be able to come back without help (frozen in time, remember?). Well, guess that was wrong, because here they are! Tucked away at the end of the universe's timeline for safety. When did that happen? Not important. Why didn't they reach out to the Doctor right away? Dunno lol. How did they manage it? Why would we tell you?

Moffat and his team was just extremely lazy about their handling of the Time War. Moffat hated the Time War as an idea, and they wanted to bring back Time Lords. But they had no idea how to bring back Time Lords in a way that made sense, so they just waved their hands and said, "It's reversed! Everything the Doctor went through emotionally in the years following the Time War is meaningless now because we said so. Don't ask how or why it's reversed because we don't actually know, we just wanted it so here it is." And that's not even going into how the hell another Time War won't happen, since Gallifrey and Skaro and Time Lords and Daleks are now back in the universe in full force. "Nah, it won't happen because we said so. Stop questioning."

The plot doesn't seem to match the depicted events. Why did they let Doctor punch through the wall if it wasn't their plan? How were sculls preserved in resetting castle? Why did star move if he was locked in a disc?
>>
>>63830892
Man that cartoony style the BBC is going with is fucking shite.
>>
>>63832187

Also the blood resets when he activates the teleporter, but the Doctor's ashes don't reset until a week later when the Doctor notices "bird" written in them. And there are some ashes built up on the far side of the teleporter, so if the ashes stay around then why isn't the castle floor covered in a thick layer of Doctor ashes everywhere after 4 billion years?

The best part is that they did a cuddly CGI rendition of Luther. Could it get any more tone deaf
