That MMO was doomed from the start, the majority of their 200 million dollar budget was spent on advertizing and amazing looking prerendered trailers. MMOs aren't like most games, they need good quality gameplay to be a financial success. Cashing in on the Star Wars brand and scamming the hell out of people is not how you keep an MMO community going.
Meanwhile with the new Star Wars movie it literally doesn't matter if it's good or not, all you have to do is see it once and you've experienced it. The act of trying it is the same as buying it. All the money Disney could want from you is going to end up in their pockets simply because it would be social suicide to do otherwise. Unless you're some sort of grognard of the highest degree there's no way you're not going to see what will probably be the most talked about movie of the decade, especially if you browse /tv/.
