Just the opposite. I liked the Doctor being a hometown hero, I didn't like that literally the entire planet just rolled over for him. Rassilon and the Council have potential going forward but in Hell Bent they were just waved off. The blubbering about how many billion years the Doctor was in the dial was silly, he wasn't aware of anything but the last few days of it beyond a moment's worth of realization that a lot of time had passed. Shortening the length of time til the "end of the universe" was dumb as shit. The cloister was pointless, everyone's scared that the Doctor's the only one to ever get out of it alive but a half dozen people enter it to confront him. The final confrontation with Arya Stark was a waste, we already knew the Doctor was the hybrid and it was largely just to wave off the term without making the doctor an actual genetic crossbreed.
I had no problem with Clara getting her own tardis or getting an open ending, it's a nice change from "oh we died in the 80s", "oh I'm trapped in another dimension", "oh I don't want to crush on you for years if you won't reciprocate", etc etc. Wiping the Doctor's memory was also fine going forward, otherwise he'd be blubbering about my clara for series to come.

I don't hate Clara.
I just thought that the episode was awfully structured and resolved both the Doctor's and Clara's character arcs in an awful way.
The first part on Gallifrey was incredibly rushed (Rassilon being defeated in five minutes flat), and I have to wonder why some things weren't edited out of the script because they were absolutely pointless (Lord only knows how the Sisterhood got there and what they wanted).
The Doctor's whole reaction to being on Gallifrey felt incredibly inconsistent with his desire to find his home planet again ass shown in The Day of the Doctor and Death in Heaven (yes, I know that he was upset about Clara, it still isn't an excuse for the "search for Gallifrey" plot being resolved in such a godawful way).
I didn't care about the General (a character who hadn't had a big role before anyway) regenerating into a black woman, but the way it was just shoehorned in (they had the Doctor shoot a guy for no good reason, for fuck's sake) and her first words as a woman irritated me.
Bringing back Clara after she'd had a good exit was absolutely pointless (I should have expected this from the man who gave us half a season of the Ponds after a perfect exit in The God Complex) and it completely undercut the way her demise was caused by her flaws as a character.
Instead, for her new departure we had some big, meaningless, EMOTIONAL moments, and the memory wipe thing felt to me incredibly gimmicky.
tl;dr: More or less the same criticisms I had against Apprentice/Familiar: a plot that moved around with no rhyme or reason, and good character stuff that was thrown away in a cheap way. Only this was even worse because everything was condensed into a single episode and because it came as the climax to arcs that had been going on since Series 7B (Clara's story and the search for Gallifrey). And because I actually had faith in Moffat's ability to write a good conclusion after Heaven Sent, more fool me.

Despite its shittiness, I admit I felt good seeing Ashilda and Clara get to go off on their own adventure. I may be happier if Clara stayed dead though, I dunno. Made Ashilda feel shoehorned because of the lack of focus on her. Clara should have died and Ashilda should have had some kind of redemption and then an uplifting "Finally going on the adventure" after all the waiting, because of the pottery from the Doctor waiting 4.5 billion years.
Ashildr was wasted. Gallifrey was wasted. It was all just wasted despite them having an extended 20 minutes.

It closed the narrative on Clara for good as well. We will never see her again, unless she somehow becomes a Time Lady due to Vortex Travel and Artron energy Bullshit. In which case a new actress can play her.
The Doctor is now free from the shackles of Clara Oswald (Memory and all), and if the next Showrunner is at least as good as Moffat (without his faults) then we're good. Never lose hope.
Missy is also able to be explored upon. With certain plot elements like the Confession Dial she somehow got - those need to be explained.
Moffat can come up with amazing one-shot ideas. But he's TERRIBLE at Series-long story arcs. He also has a tendency no not fully understand some continuity - despite the detail he brings regarding things he likes (i.e. Davros)

Early Gallifrey was ruled by different beings, mainly the predecessors to the Sisterhood of Karn.
Rassilon and Omega were the Scientists/Engineers who worked out Time Travel. First they captured a collapsing supernova/black hole and essentially placed it into a perpetual loop of explosion and contraction - near infinite energy.
They would call this the Eye of Harmony. It's the centerpiece of all Gallifreyan power. Every TARDIS has their own copy of the EoH IIRC. The copys are made from Block Transfer Mathematics - which is a whole other can of worms themselves.
TL;DR - Omega was technically the first Time Lord. He became crazy when he fell into the Anti-Matter Universe.
Rassilon was always a prick, but he truly became evil during the Time War.
In fact, RASSILON was the one who deliberately set the 12 number handicap on all Time Lord regenerations. (Yes Rassilon created the Regeneration Process all Time Lords use.)
