In my humble opinion, for what its worth, Matt Smith was a complete MISCAST - Far, far, far too young to inhabit the role of The Dr.
So, when Peter Capoldi was announced, I thought he might be good.
How wrong I was.
The worst Dr in the entire 52+ year history of the show - Even more miscast than Matthew Smith.

He definitely have some weak spots - couldn't yell or act angry to save his life - but his 'quietly menacing and mysterious' moments were good. And I love his array of conjuring tricks/spoons/juggling, he's a weird little carny (Greatest Show in the Galaxy was amazing for that stuff)

McCoy had some trouble on TV and in a few audios, but when he's been given an audio script thst suited his Doctor well (The Fearmonger, Project: Lazarus, Master, The Settling, The Magic Moustrap, A Thousand Tiny Wings, The Architects of History, A Death in the Family, probably others I'm forgetting right now) I think he's been amazing.
Have you listened to Death Comes to Time? Imo that story (particularly the final episode) contains McCoy's finest performance ever as the Doctor.
