As part of my apprenticeship at BBC Wales, I worked briefly with the Doctor Who team at Roath Lock. We sat in some production meetings as part of the work experience and in one I got some juicy details about Series 10 and this year's Christmas Special. I had to sign a document which swore me to secrecy but there were 5 of us at the placement so I doubt they'll know who leaked it.
Christmas Special detailsWorking title at the time of the meeting (Nov 17th) was The Singing Towers - a direct reference to the fact that Capaldi's Doctor will be taking River Song there. When I asked about the series 6 minisode where the Eleventh Doctor appears to do this, they simply said they were ignoring that - though there might be some convoluted explanation... who knows?
Episode run time is 70 minutes in length.
Series 10Filming between April 2016 and November 2016. No series in 2016 but there will be a series of Class (Capaldi is due to feature) and the traditional Doctor Who Christmas special which Moffat is working on. The new companion is due to appear in the special and will be announced in February/March 2016 This is primarily to get the show back to its Spring slot. They might not admit it, but the ratings are slightly worrying them.
Moffat is working on an opening two parter for Series 10 and Gatiss and Harness are said to be working on scripts too. Mathieson and Dollard are currently in talks about returning.

This is why I'm downloading instead of buying physically. That and the fact that I don't have enough shelf space. But some people like having the packaging and whatever, and you can also get a higher quality rip if you buy the CD, so I guess it depends on whether you value the latter couple of things enough to warrant the extra cash.

Whether or not you hear a difference in sound depends on your equipment, the volume setting, and on your ears. If you're like me and you only have £20 headphones, you're unlikely to hear a difference between a 192 MP3 and a lossless rip. There's also space to consider. A FLAC rip of a 4 hour series is going to be much larger than a lossy rip.
McGann couldn't have been better suited to audios. No homo, but his Eighth Doctor voice is just perfect. I think that lossless is fine if you're a collector, and you're trying to build an archive of whatever. I collect certain music releases, and because the hobby is mainly about the collecting, I like to rip them to FLAC. But if your end goal is just to listen to something, and you're not trying to put together an archive, then making and maintaining lossless rips can be very time-consuming.

It's not an ideal choice, but I guess it's the direction they had to go in after Night of the Doctor/Day of the Doctor established that neither McGann nor Eccleston were the Time War Doctor. It's a double-edged sword, I think. On one hand, we get Hurt, and that's fantastic because he's amazing. But, on the other hand, McGann gets a diminished role in the Time War. I guess we'll just have to see how the box set turns out.

I love the 8th Doctor but I don't think he's great at expressing extreme emotions. He's great at being smooth and witty but let's say if he was cast in the new series. The emotional scenes we saw with 9 and 10 wouldn't have worked as well. Tennant is great at showing sadness although his anger can be a bit 'tantrumy' at times.

I would really like that. It's a nice change of pace. It shifts the dynamic so that the entire plot of the Series doesn't revolve around the Doctor or some "special" person (Clara).
An anthology Series revolving around different characters (old and new alike) would be great.
Knowing Moffat, he could explain away all of their individual plots as being connected (erven under different writers) and have their stories converge onto the finale where they all team up to defeat the Big Bad who Moffat says was behind it all.
Either that or a Christmas Special involving the stealing of every Chirstmas Present in the Known Universe, leading to a Universal game of hide-and-seek/treasure hunt/Marco Polo involving the Time Lords and Daleks because Moffat.

It found its rhythm early on but it still bugged me sometime. It's one of the reasons why I really appreciate Moffat (and RTD to an extent).
Moffat had the balls to try out some experimental stuff. Even if he knew shit like the Sonic Sunglasses and more mellow attire for Capaldi (hood and all) would piss some people off.

I think that DW is a mix between an anthology and an ongoing saga. It's always swung between the two, with ongoing story arcs coming and going.
I would think that the casual audience might prefer the anthology approach. no lore, easy entry. although the one issue is that they wouldn't have a big finale to push.
Moffat has done a series of 1 parters, a series with mostly 2 parters, a split series. so he does like to play with the formula. It might happen yet.
