I've heard a rumor that the doctor has been sent to the matrix by Missy who is waiting for him there, and the next episode will be similar to the deadly assassin episodes 2// Trial Of a timelord 13/14.

>>
>>63029710
Confirmed.
>>
>>63029732
Yep, Now the question is will she actually stay dead and completely break the nuwho mold or will there be some shitty save where she gets separated from the doctor but gets to live on possibly with Danny Pinkus?
If she actually stays dead for real, I will be both surprised and delighted.
>>
>>63029732
Fun fact: the Doctor takes the memories of Clara and puts them inside her splinters. He's done it to nearly all of them at this point. He of course removes the part where she died and their last adventure so she has no idea. This very last time though, he doesn't do it. He connects her to the TARDIS and speaks with his telepathically. Tells him she doesn't want him to do it. He goes to the diner, where the very last splinter is but decides not to take that splinters life away. Clara Oswald has died too many times. He lets go.
>>
>>63029732
She was a female who didn't know her limits and she paid the ultimate price for over straining her tiny little squirrel brain too hard and not just relying on the superior male Doctor to do all her thinking and fighting for her before telling her how she should feel about it all.

Don't be silly. Speshiul people don't actually die in nuwho. They get to live on in some contrived manor. Clala will survive in some way just like River... Remember this is the generation who cant even handle a regeneration without having their hand held by having the last doctor making a nice cameo begging them not to leave the show.

Would that actually be a problem though?

If the Doctor actually does find Gallifrey, the Daleks would be a fitting antagonist. Surely there were a few still on the planet when it shifted, so the plot would be "Clear out remaining Daleks while putting up with Rassilon's bullshit.".

The BBC will not choose another black female companion because if they did they would not be able to continue their kektacular racemixing policy. We all know that Black Women/White Men is a no no, but Black Men/White Women is encouraged.

It worked seamlessly when they included a bunch of Japanese, Middle Eastern and Asian actors throughout the series, but sometimes it broke my suspension of disbelief. The military won't even take you if you're colourblind, but they make a deaf woman an officer? You're telling me they're were no other suitable candidates who weren't deaf? And where is UNIT recruiting all these female soldiers from? Aren't they supposed to be the best of the best? There are literally no women in combat roles in the British army, what pool are they recruiting from? Why the spend the time and money to train a female candidate from scratch when there are thousands of men with combat experience ready to take on the position?

I've seen HB. Moffat has completely retconned everything we know about Gallifrey. Trust me – it's even worse than the 12-meets-baby-Davros thing. And the identity of the hybrid is sure to make /who/ buttmad. It's some seriously Tumblr writing.

Just like they did between the three doctors and deadly assassin and then again in arc of infinity and again in the end of time?
Almost every-time we see Gallifrey, the planet and time lord society seems different from the last.
>>
>>63031188
You mean "child of the tardis" riversong?
>>
>>63031228
This time, it's more to do with the function of Time Lords themselves. i.e: why Time Lord society came to exist in the first place. I get the feeling it's going to be one of those love-it-or-hate-it things among fans.
>>
>tfw Clara is finally dead.
>>
>>63031269
desu I don't really care anymore. Did the doctor leave Gallifrey because he was bored or was their another reason? Moffat seems intent on completely changing the basic established facts of the show to suit his purpose and their is fuck all anyone can do about it. It wouldn't surprise me if he brought back the whole half human thing on a whim either.

Its long iverdue Jenny and Vestra examined Clara...thoroughly.
>>
>>63031337

The show under Moffat is doing exactly what it did in the 1980's under JNT. It is obsessed with its own mythology to the point where it is only apealing to a limited audience.
Best thing for the show would be to drop the whole Gallifrey,Doctor's name/past angle and go back to basic scary stories about a man in a box who fights monsters without all the baggage.
>>
>>63029454
Has to be British ffs
>>
>>63031408
>>The McGann rumours are true, he's returning to the show but 8 is the Hybrid.
>How does /who/ react?

>>
>>63031408
>How does /who/ react?
>>
>>63031508
I don't like the idea of him being half human but I've wanted them to retcon that aspect of the TV movie.

here's how I want, they establish that the Doctor wasn't born half human but at some point in his life he was 'corrupted' and thus became the hybrid, It's then sorted out and we can put the whole thing behind us.
we can then put the 'on my mothers side' line down as post regen confusion.
>>
>>63031588
It was reconnected or at least explained in the The Apocalypse Element.
>>
>>63031618
I've listened to that, as I recall they give a reason why the eye of harmony can only be opened by a human eye. I don't think they explain the half-human thing.
>>
>>63031476
Are you 90s Moffat/RTD who were scared shitless of continuity as if it's some mythological boogeyman?
They've tried to ditch Gallifrey and look where it led to - fixating on it more than ever.
There's not as much baggage even. Casualfags are not goldfishes too. People can handle stories that are not "muh monster of the week".
>>
>>63031704
Continuity is a good thing, but it's not a substitute for writing. I'm alarmed at possibility that they are going piling references instead of writing stories.
>>
>all this lore crap

My god when will this show be fun again
>>
>>63031704
I disagree. Look at the most successful era's in the shows history. Most of it was continuiety light. Weather it was action pertwee, Hinchcliffe/Holmes or Tennant/Rose. During those era's there were occasional dips into the shows past but for the most part they just told good action adventure stories without 50 years of baggage toed to them.
>>
>>63031765
>>63031809
Point is it's not as arc-heavy as you think it is.
"There's Gallifrey which is timelocked" is not exactly piles of lore.
And Tennant/Rose was heavy on muh bad wolf and shit. Look at Journey's End.
>>
>>63031809
>>63031767
>>63031765
I love call backs and the reintroduction of old lore but saying that I can't deny that the best two episode of last series were Mummy and Flatline, they were continuity light.

whereas I watch Witches' and Magician' and I get annoyed by the doctors ''healing powers'' crap. I think the hardcore fans have a bigger problem with lore than the casuals.
>>
>>63031925
Moffat's take on Lore is not so much lore as it is random pile of things inserting everywhere to the point of schizophrenia or redundancy.

In four years we got 3 redundant insights into Daleks' psyche, can't we just stick with one?

The last Doctor she saw was Matt Smith, who was rather young and glamourous and hot, and now she's got this grey haired stick insect. But there are also monsters and spaceships and flying saucers and all the usual goodies we have at Christmas."

Just read the Face The Raven/Trap Street script.

Some great parts were cut out, such as the Doctor telling Rigsy to tell Coal Hill that Clara was dead and to get rid of her body.

Also the after credits scene is better on paper. There was dialogue.

You don't miss anything. The order is anachronistic.
>>
>>63034766

well he already has done, Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead

Thing is, I don't think Moffat's really degraded in his writing abilities. I just think his writing style doesn't suit showrunning (in as much as the direction the show takes with plot, characters, arcs etc.) He wrote very contained, complex and finely-plotted self-sustained stories that didn't rely on a wider arc, but when he does try to introduce a wider arc across a series or multiple series, he uses the same tactics as he used to with his self-contained stories, and it ends up being a bit of a clusterfuck because you can't use the same storytelling techniques when planning series-long story directions as you do when writing stand-alone stories. Best example of this is series 6, or The Time of the Doctor.
Not that he can never be a good showrunner, series 5 was perfectly planned and paced and one of the strongest starts any head writer/script editor/co-producer has ever had in the show's history, on par with the likes of Dicks 'n' Letts with season 7, or Holmes 'n' Hinchcliffe with season 12, just that the way he's been going about it for a while now doesn't work as well as it might appear to on paper.
>>
>>63035321

cont'd.

Another thing that I think proves that the Moff's writing style doesn't translate well to showrunning is he's actually not that brave or unorthodox, at least not any more. When The Doctor Dances aired in 2005, it seemed outrageous and really cool the way the Doctor referred to sex and having had it via the metaphor of dancing, and it's one of the great selling points of the story. However, 10 years later, this Christmas, there's gonna be more flirting between the Doctor and River Song, and it's gonna be veiled references to smut, and everyone's gonna act like it's so exciting and raunchy, but in truth it's the same old shit. Moffat took the first 5 years of NuWho to try out a couple of really exciting and cool new tricks and directions for the show, but over the next 5 years he did nothing but employ those tricks again and again. He's like a 12 trick pony or something, but all the tricks are worn out. Criticise RTD all you want, but at least he did try and shake things up as showrunner several times over his tenure. Though I don't think he really understood when his writing was good - see how in The Writer's Tale he takes Benjamin Cook through how he wrote such rubbish as Voyage of the Damned or Journey's End, and neglects to really talk about Midnight, which would actually be interesting to read about. Moffat, on the contrary, knows when his writing is good and will do anything to recapture and resurrect whatever he did before, but the second time around it's always a bit thin, and by the sixth time around it's just not good any more, see the constant repetition of the 'sexy witty dominant older woman' archetype in everything he writes (River Song, Madame Kovarian, Irene Adler, Tasha Lem, Missy), a slightly less offensive version is the repetition of character introduction techniques for Madame de Pompadour and Amy Pond.
>>
>>63035310

>>
>>63035250
He's done it before, said he might be regenerated misshapen because of it.

>>63035271
Then why has no one ever made a contract with the Quantum Shade to kill the Doctor? And what kind of shit excuse is "when you transferred the chronolock you altered the contract so lol you're sol"?
>>
>>63035342

PPS

This is linked to the fact I think he's suffered from oversaturation. He wrote a grand total of 4 stories between 2005-2009, and so every time one of his episodes rolled around we all got pretty hyped about it because he had a good reputation and, let's face it, his pre-showrunner stories are all absolute gems. He's written about 25 stories, give or take, since 2010 and thus what he writes doesn't have the same charm or effect any more.
Also, he loves cliches, both consciously and subconsciously. A lot of the stuff he puts into character development is often accidentally, and annoyingly cliched. Even when it was intentional it got old fast. It was kind of enjoyable during the RTD era because it was fun, in the middle of a series of characters trying to be as 'serious' and 'realistic' as possible (and often failing exactly because they were trying so hard), to have these kind of movie/comic/storybook characters who were basically played up caricatures. Sometimes, Moffat put enough effort and thought in to actually deconstruct and unpick these cliches and caricatures he utilised, but far too often (though I wonder if he'd done it loads then maybe it's just become another Moff cliche, who knows?). I don't think he's a bad writer, he just doesn't know how to plan things that well all the time, and also he can pull punches way too much and be a bit lazy.
>>
>>63035342
>but at least he did try and shake things up as showrunner several times over his tenure

>>
>>63035182
>“We haven’t told a lie. The story is the story, but the Doctor is not going to rest. He is not going to accept that that is the last time he will be see Clara.”

sounds more like he's confirming she really died and teasing she might be brought back. alternatively it could only man the Doctor will attempt to bring her back to life and fail or see the error of his ways.
>>
>>63035414
Yeah I don't remember that. RTD stuck to his formula that he established in Series 1. Moffat even did his first year much like RTD's formula. Bottom line is they've both got their fair share of flaws as head writers and I'm ready for a new approach.

>>63035255
It's looking to deeply because you're trying to pull out examples like "This means my gran has killed Silence, wtf?" Prediction for Hell Bent:

Fade from black to white. Nothing is visible. Is the episode frozen? But, wait, there is something. Something is moving towards the screen from the deep white plane. It's moving carefully. Methodically. It is practiced and refined.

As the figure comes closer, it also becomes familiar. It is the ghost of Peter Capaldi, bitter with age even in the afterlife.

"My child, you have forgotten your purpose. You are far from the path of your destiny."

"No Peter," I say, "I will not become what you want me to be. I am free from the chains of your old tradition."

"You cannot escape it," he says, as his old face grows hard and cold. His skin tightens, his teeth extend, and his eyes become black holes that whistle when the wind blows through. His twisted skeleton reaches a hand through the screen and grabs me. He crawls through the television, slinking and crunching his monstrous form into the physical world. But I am stronger than him. His bones become dust and are swept away, out of sight, as if they were never there. He is gone again, for now.

Then it ends with Clara being alive and the Doctor now played by Matt Smith, leaving.

So, basically, the same as always plus a couple of surprises. Not expecting much more than that.

The Valeyard is created during 11's regeneration into 12. This is the new Time Lord biological ability being teased in the reviews. Except it's not so much a biological ability as it was devised by the Time Lords. The whole new regeneration cycle was cooked up by The Rani, with a little dash of something extra. The Valeyard's plan was simply to imprison the Doctor, which is what the castle is in Heaven Sent. However, Rassilon interferes, and rigs it so that the Doctor brings the Time Lords back from the dead. The Doctor goes back to Day of the Doctor and undoes the ALL 13 thing, so that the Daleks wipe out all of Gallifrey. This is the angry eyes clip. Gallifrey is now ruled by Daleks, and the Doctor is allied with them. The implication is that the Valeyard was really the Doctor, and vice-versa.

We all know that Who is where acting careers go to die.

Capaldi knew this, waited until he was aged. Wise old owlbrows.

He got offered the part of 8.
Imagine if Capaldi was 8 and McGann was 12.

That's what I thought... Fucking casual normies are awful combine it with reddit and you have a shit sandwich, I honestly don't know why I go to that site.

"What is the most heartbreaking moment in TV?"

""I don't want to go" - David Tennant's improvised last line in Doctor Who."
>>
>>63036852
nope, there was multiple takes - on YT.
some are more subtle, more are more over the top.
so it could've been worse.

Right now, Day/NyQuil as often as directed, go to bed, watch movies. Sleep without shame. Pile on blankets, stay heated. Eat oranges, drink water until your bladder pops. Do this until 2 hours before his graduation. You'll be fine.

250ml glass
100ml water
100ml apple cider vinegar
50ml lemon juice

Add a couple teaspoons of baking soda and stir.

Hold nose while drinking, because it's disgusting.

Immediately follow with a glass of milk (semi-skimmed or it will curdle).

Will make you go to the toilet like mad for the first day, but your congestion will lift within the hour. Doesn't cure the cold, but makes the symptoms better.

Domestically it made just shy of $90 million. On a $155 million budget, that's awful. Overseas it did fine, but they don't want exclusive success overseas with big budget Hollywood films like this, especially the fifth in "Arguably one of the biggest action franchises ever created". Poor Matt... Even Jai Courtney at least has Suicide Squad coming up before his career goes away.
