Disney is pushing the shit out of Star Wars right now. However DC has been riding a ton of positive buzz for the last few months. They have to market shit properly. This swings super hero discussion back to Marvel what they're doing for a few weeks until Star Wars.
All of December the public will be talking about Star Wars. Once the 2016 starts WB/DC will be promoting the fuck out of BvS which releses in March. Only two months later Civil War debut. To swing all the momentum and attention back to the MCU they'll simply have to Spider-Man debut in a trailer.
Spider-Man is fucking massive, regardless of what uninformed /tv/ posters might say. So his debut next to Cap and Iron-Man and essentially The Avengers is going to be fucking huge.

Nah. Feige has been on record saying they have various scripts ready to go depending on who's rights they get back. They were in talks with Sony since late last year. They got the rights this year a few weeks into, or before shooting I forget exactly. Tom Holland was on the set fore a few weeks and went back to do reshoots.

The point of this movie is just to set shit up for Infinity War
Think about it really, will Tony or Cap really be able to carry out meaningful character interactions with Thanos? Itll just shooting at him and some idealogical arguing. With the dozens of characters here, starting them all off from a base plateu like AoU would be foolish towards creating interactions even over 2 movies. But if Cap is in prison at the begnning of Infinity War or Tony is in disgrace or whatever then that raises the stakes and fills out that movie starting now years earlier. Not just a new conflict with Thanos, also residual conflicts and positions of charactes.
