Whats your favorite movie shot anon?
Scorsese's a pimp
Not my favorite of all time, but still cool
>>62877915
>implying this movie is black and white
Not the exact scene, but holy fuck... the cinematography.
Okay movie. God tier cinematography.
>that T-Rex stare
>that roar
>that everything
I love Jurassic Park so much
Don't really have a favorite, but I love this for some reason.
great taste
>>62878262
I've been putting off watching this for a long time but I remember seeing this scene in a Scorsese documentary and falling in love with it.
>>62878266
>caption: u wot m8?
1/2
I'm a big Bergman fan so it has to be any example from his B/W films where he isolates characters against the barren landscape.
>inability to communicate. Physical isolation.
>fucken pottery
>>62878319
2/2
Or these flashback scenes -- they hit me RIGHT IN DA FEELS.
Also it's just a damn clever motif.
The Thing where the dog stares out the window.
>>62878298
just watch it for its cinematography
>>62877967
>tmw sugar ray robinson decides hes had enough of your shit
http://youtu.be/1gpXMGit4P8
>>62878637
It's amazing how a movie that was barely saved in editing had such great cinematography
I like this one.
>>62878594
I would've picked this one
>>62878669
it didn't. It had good set design and good costumes. thats it
>>62878262
I wonder if that was shot with anamorphic lenses?
>>62878682
This one too I guess.
Not even a big fan of the movie or Kubrick in general but I love closeups of actor's faces during scenes like these. This one stands out as one of the best.
>>62878711
>VistaVision
I would say not. Also I can't see any barrel distortion on the far left and right of the horizon in the final frame. I get the vibe Ford wouldn't be fond of Anamorphic or Cinemascope.
>>62878697
What are you talking about, ANH had great lines
>Don't try to frighten us with your sorcerer's ways, Lord Vader. Your sad devotion to that ancient religion hasn't helped you conjure up the stolen data tapes or given you clairvoyance enough to find the rebels' hidden fortress
>I've been waiting for you Obi-wan. We meet again at last. The circle is now complete. When I left you, I was but the learner, now I am the master.
>Only a master of evil, Darth
>Look at the size of that thing
>Cut the chatter red two
is there anything more pleb?
>le cool smoking face so classy and baddass
I love the way the camera moves in this
>>62878896
>shitposting in a decent thread
please stop
>No CIA shot.
Is baneposting dead guys? That was pretty much the only thing that made 4chan worth browsing.
>>62878910
Me too. The camera mimicking the movement of the ax is so simple but so incredible. It's as if the frame is attempting to bust out of its limits, trying to enter the next scene
>>62878910
I bet it's so fun to chop down a door with an axe.
>>62879368
Yeah and the Fast and Furious shots are driving to the next scene. Grow up.
>>62879486
Pleb detected
ASS TAH ASS
>>62877865
[guitar riffs internally]
>>62879368
I think it's trying to mimic how the eye naturally sees things, I think that's the intention of a lot of kubrick's stuff
>>62879766
I'd say the opposite, especially for that movie. Everything is so stylistic and perverted to the point that a simple hallway is claustrophobic and imposing.
more pls
>>62879283
>Whats your favorite movie shot anon?
>Posts a sequence of 16 shots
>>62879880
I love that effect.
>>62878319
Would be nice to know the title
>>62879804
Yea, there are definitely moments of claustrophobia but I think in a twisted way you're supposed to sympathize with jack and see things through his eyes and actually experience going insane
>>62879875
>counting the amount of shots
That's pretty autistic of you.
>>62879936
If I take off that filter will you die?
My favorite "shot".
>>62879954
Right...which means the camera is presenting a surreal and dreamlike reality. Not anything natural...?
>>62880130
Natural in that there a lot of long simple shots set up for you to just watch what's happening
No contest
:^)
When the camera is moving across the storefront the glass is very reflective, but when it gets to one of the crew members behind the glass a shadow from a beam outside breaks the reflection so we can clearly see the guy. Great shit.
>>62880268
>this won best picture
>>62878319
That's from Summer interlude, right? Love it, my favorite early Bergman film
>>62879444
I love this fucking movie.
>>62879444
Movie?
>>62880459
Might be Sin City.
>>62878697
>not sucking John Williams' dick
>>62880374
I heard this cut was actually a mistake but they liked it so much they left it.
also, my fave.
>>62879846
>>62878262
sooo much feels ;_;
>having ONE SINGLE favorite shot
literally autism
>>62879956
It's pretty easy to count to one.
>>62881279
kek
I watched the 2007 Blade Runner doco Dangerous Days the other night and it reminded me of just how mindblowingly amazing that movie was for set design.
Got like 10-12 'favorites' that spring to mind.
Derek Jarman movies are pretty.
>>62881553
>started watching this for the first time early in the morning
>that fucking journey
>this scene
>sun rising outside
>that cozy bowling alley
Comfy
>>62881553
DUDE SYMMETRY LMAO
does anyone else think shit like this is boring?
when shots are doctored and set up to the point the experience becomes akin to visiting a hospital it just becomes very dull
>>62881457
good for you :)
>>62881609
yeah personally I enjoy shaky cam
>>62881671
>either or fallacy
>>62881553
the scene with the oil fire at night was better imo senpai
>>62881609
>>62881671

>>62879456
He went through a lot of doors too. I guess he was too good at it
>>62881904
Sebastiane, obviously. The homo-eroticism reaches sublime levels without becoming pure pornography.
>>62880237

I liked where they were eating the shit in Salo but then I'm a pretty dangerous guy.

there was one shot in "layer cake" where the protagonist is using the bathroom mirror
you know the one
there were a few good ones in STALKER, but there were far too many and that detracted from the really good ones
there was one in "the consoquences of love" where a man walks into a post
it didn't really belong in the film, but it was good
>>62879880
I would not have picked that one from la haine
>>62881954

I thought after the oil well was built the whole thing lot a lot of momentum, but that first third was gold

>>62879995

>Not tarkovsky ITT
I love the Eraserhead cinematography.
>>62877865
Anything that is a wet street at night. I love that shit. I love how the neon lights in 80's movies reflect on the water in the streets. I love that mood

I feel kinda bad that he ended up getting used as a means to an end by almost every other character in the movie, but if there's a deeper meaning to it than that I think it's going over my head
>>62879283
Maybe it's because I haven't seen the movie, but I suspect the audio track is probably the only thing which would indicate if this is supposed to be funny or tense.
>>62885577
I heard they used an eight foot ring and some polished up some anchor chain to pull this shot off
>>62881065
>I heard this cut was actually a mistake

this is great but I have to say that for me its one from in the mood for love, Drive or le samourai, all great movies and strong cinematography, I think pic related is really good, how delon's eyes are filled with this sadness and just this gaze of solitude into his almost certain death...I love it
>>62887116
overrated movie imo senpai
It tries really hard to be philosophical and asks some good question, but it becomes painfully obvious that Tarkovsky hasnt gone beyond entry level psychology and philosphy, I mean he even quotes his own dad in his movies, pathetic. But I appreciate this movie
>>62890423
its really sad, I like it but not a favourite. Its one of the best in the science fiction genre
>>62890768
good choice, wkw movies are so cozy I cant even believe it, this scene was seriously hypnotizing
I have another one, Qingshaonian Nezha or rebels of the neon god, this shot along with the opening music. Good shit

I can't seem to find a good picture of it, but in the first LOTR movie when they are climbing the snowy mountain just before Frodo drops the ring and Boromir looks at it
Not my favourite but still god tier
