I thought this episode would be good, I thought it would be a load of soldiers given meth to stop them falling to sleep and in the process going bat shit. Turned out none of them were sleep deprived at all and the enemy was eye crap.
2/10 with hype.

I liked it. After all, he did tell us not to watch it.
At first I thought this was a sleep experiment. Then u thought they were in a game show (since we really didn't see how any of them died) but the final twist got me.
All the guest cast was wooden apart from the glasses guy.
Also, Gatiss said at the festival Moffat asked him to write a sequel for next series.
Gatiss has a real talent for having a very promising premise or idea and then completely failing to deliver on it.
But yes, let's just see this episode for a scary one for the children, with a warning not to stay up after bedtime.

I must have missed something, I'm a little confused as to how Morpheus works. Sleeping in the pod causes the mucus in your eye to animate, but also watching a recording of someone infected animates it in the viewer? And they said it was electromagnetic waves. So those waves jump through the TV screen or something?

I think the episode would have been ten times better if they'd shown much, much less of the monsters - had them always in shadows etc and barley seen - and the whole sleep dust thing had been better presented, maybe have a brief clip of someone transforming or a better explanation of how it's possible.

The format is just so good because, like Doctor Who, it can take place anywhere in time and space. DW has become a thing with fan service now. I think that Tennant was okay playing on that in his skits for Comic Relief, etc, but wouldn't have pulled it off with his very earnest version of the Doctor on the actual show. Some of the self-referential stuff in 11 and 12 is as far into comedy as Tennant's charity sketches were, but on the show itself. I think Matt Berry could work with levels and bring his performance in enough from what he was doing in Darkplace to not have it as out-and-out comedy.

More worryingly, I'm sick of Capaldi's Doctor. I genuinely think they either need to give him up as a lost cause, or else significantly overhaul his character (again) before the next series. There is literally nothing interesting about him now that they've smoothed off the rough edges and neutered him. The Doctor should be the heart of the show. The dust in the air/in your eye is evil, and will kill you in sufficient numbers. It can take over a person's body and leave them as a host for the dust. A small team of people investigate an area where the dust has accumulated, and they are murdered one by one. An innocuous phrase ("ice cream", "who turned off the lights", the lyrics to Mr. Sandman) is repeated over and over in an attempt to be scary.
Can someone explain this episode in dumb terms?
So I'm guessing he sent the signal out that will infect people and so did not need to physically leave the place. Also, he could see but is also a sandman. I don't get it.
Anyway, none of this makes sense.

He has the Gandolfini quality of being incredibly watchable. His charisma makes even the daftest lines sound better than they are.
Loved his speech last episode. I know a lot of people didn't for whatever reason, and I'm a little tired of the "Doctor does speeches" bit, but he has the Capaldi Factor; he's just fucking cool.
But in saying that, I'm hoping for less of the character gurning; the sunglasses, the guitar-tank, the too-cool-for-school writing of some segments (like the introduction about Beethoven for example). That's not really what the show is about.
What the fuck did I just watch.
