ITT: 10/10 Films

This is the greatest and most beautiful film I've had the pleasure in watching
>>
>>55267974
Who cares? You'll just watch some other slightly obscure 30 year old film next week and forget all about it. Hey ever heard of this great director named Jim Jarmusch?

op here, I know how you feel
The first time I watched it I felt so many emotions that I couldn't tell if I was sad, satisfied or happy for the boy and the mother
either way the film left me impressed
>>
>>55267974

What was stopping the mom from seeing her kid when she knew where he was, the kid knew he was adopted, and HDS was missing basically? What the fuck did HDS leave the kid with a young, inexperienced single mother working as a psuedo-hooker who tried to set him on fire last time he saw her. Why did he think leaving was a good idea when there was literally nothing stopping her from seeing him in the first place?

The movie was entirely dependent on the mystery of HDS and his condition/history, but it quickly fell apart into a cliche, sappy family drama with the worst ending possible: a feel good ending that makes no fucking sense. Completely underwhelming with disjointed quality, but a great performance by HDS.

This is literally the comfiest movie ever. 10/10.

It's my favorite movie as well. Fuck this movie. I can't exactly pinpoint why it's so good
>>
>>55268434
How is it comfy?
The entire film is based on an energetic and heated debated about the conviction of a kid who may or may not be a killer
>>
>>55268702
Maybe we just have different definitions of comfy. I just meant the story is really satisfying even though the ending is predictable.

Paris, Texas is GOAT

Make sure to watch

>Midnight Cowboy
>Thief
>Days of Heaven
>Badlands
>Apocalypse Now

Same here. Broke down crying like a little bitch twice watching Paris, Texas and for most of the movie I could hardly breathe.

The scene in the club where he's describing how much he loved her through the two-way mirror, and that final scene. It's the only time I've actually needed a lie down to recover after a film.

It touched me in places I didn't know existed and I don't even know how it did it. My bottom lip quivered slightly just thinking about that club scene again.

This one took me completely by surprise. The two leads (Burton and Taylor) are perfect and the writing is ingenious. I don't want to say any more for fear of spoiling it but for me it's a 10/10 all round.
>>
>>55267974
I was bored through 90% of the movie until the conversation at the end did a 180° turn on me.

Seconding Midnight Cowboy. I never see it mentioned here but I think it's probably Dustin Hoffman's most impressive role, which is saying something.

That's another one with a great OST too.

It's a very slow, subtle film compared to most (especially modern popular movies) that's for sure. First time I watched it I turned it off after about 8 minutes because my mind was wandering.

Tried again a year later after a few beers, concentrated hard on it and it hit me like a locomotive.

it's insanely extreme but there's substance and it's about something. the director was or had gone through a divorce when making it and thats a stem of what i think its about.

The two main characters have doppelgangers and I see it as thats what their ideal partners are. And she was lonely because he was away for too long so she started seeing other people and eventually forgot who she was, went nuts, etc

Could be completely wrong, only seen the movie once but it left the biggest impact on me. Gunna watch it again soon

it has something of a flaw: the soundtrack
wenders has a tendency to repeat theme music ad nauseum, like in Kings of the Road

Like many other posters in this thread, I wept uncontrollably through the final 30 or so minutes of this film. I think it was over the fact that they loved each other but knew that their relationship could never be repaired.

Definitely tops Wings of Desire for me. It might be my all time favorite.

Size is relative though.

I guess for Agent CIA he's a big guy but for a normal or above average sized guy? You're probably right. For example I'm 5'11", is Tom Hardy a big guy for me? He's 5'9" so, no. I'm a big guy for him.
>>
>>55270697
this concept was very eloquently and concisely captured in nolan's screenplay, if you recall
>>
>>55270697
>>55270742

>thinking that being a big guy is about physical size

it's clearly a metaphor for how big his heart is

what CIA means by 'you're a big guy' is that Bane is a guy with a big heart and lots of love to give

Bane replies 'for you' and the rest is history
>>
>>55270803
bane has a really tiny heart though, that's why he has to wear the mask

My nigger.
It really benefits by being derivative. And I don't mean that in a bad way. It's clearly a very studied movie that is able to pick up exactly what it needs from decades worth of other noir films. Just masterfully shot, and well directed too.

he doens't trust the man, he just thought it was worth discussing out of respect for Juror 8's wishes. He said he thought the kid was going to end up guilty, but decided it was their duty to the defendant to at least talk the issue over considering somebodies life was on the line.

also yes, for a movie thats entirely 12 dudes in a room talking to each other it ended up being surprisingly engaging and far wittier then most movies you see today.
