Who is about to mourn the loss of the last decent CBS show?
NO FUCKING LEAFS ALLOWED
>>71122675
me ;_;
I actually can't believe this show is over, I've never become some emotionally invested in any show before. Part of me wish they could have had the full final season, and then just split it into two like Breaking Bad did. But after S5E10, the show had to end soon.
Here we go lads.
>>71122675
I'm sure whatever CBS has taking its slot will be just as good as show
>Bull
>Michael Weatherly returns to CBS as the iconoclastic Dr. Jason Bull. Inspired by the early career of Dr. Phil McGraw, the series follows the brilliant, brash, and charming founder of a hugely successful trial consulting firm who uses a combination of remarkable insight into human nature, three Ph.D.s, and a top-notch team of experts to create winning strategies that tip the scales of justice in his clients’ favor.
Nevermind, I guess the only thing I'll look forward to on CBS is the new Trek show whenever it shows up.
>>71122675
Elementary is kind of okay, but not as fun as it was in the first season or two.
>stop Samaritan
>literally fucks over the world in very immediate and obvious ways
>Can y-y-y-you hear me?
>>71122675
mister reese i think we might have to part way.
i ll miss that show even thou the whole samaritain arc was overthetop i enjoyed the previous season with just random numbers and the crooked cop, and mobs

Which is Samaritan's fault.
>Shaw being shaw
>its a say everybody dies but only 1 or 2 dies ep
I hope Shaw at least calls Machine out on using Root's voice. Shit is fucking creepy.

A backdoor pilot-ending?
And yet we still don't know Finch's last name.

Question for those who read the leaked subs:
Did they give any indication that this was the ending; that everyone but John survived, or that Harold found Grace again?

Man, that's gotta suck as far as excuses go, up there with just following orders. So glad Shaw offed him and avenged Root.

I still don't get what the point of his character was. It started out looking like he'd be redeemed in the end, but then he killed Root and all that shit went out the window.
Was his only point to be a mirror to Team Machine and then die?
>>71125369
God I hope not.
Given how much CBS gave them the shaft for the last season, it was a great ending.
>>71125394
I think when S5 was first being written there was a greater purpose for him and then things changed when they only gave a half season.
>>71125363
Watch Dogs tried to emulate POI but spectacularly failed on counts. The sequel doesn't look much better.
>>71124587
Man screw that dude.
>>71125369

So this plot line end up going nowhere.
>>71125497
is the kid a potato now that Samaritan is gone?
>>71125579
Maybe it would have been important if S5 was given a full season.
>>71125363
>Watch_Dogs announced
>looks like Person of Interest: the Game
>it's shit
Not to say that a POI game would suck but that's the closest we've gotten.
>Watch_Dogs 2 announced
>looks like HackersOnSteroids.gif
There's probably no hope of a POI game being done right.
>>71125603
But why include it at all if they already knew they only had 13 episodes?
>>71125625
Trust me. A POI game would be Kino as fuck if it were done by Kojima.
He would understand what would need to be done.
>>71125579
It wasnt a plotline. I dont understand why people thought it was. Root does tons of stuff off screen. All it was doing was reminding us that everything she does (saving that guy as a ballerina) is apart of interconnected Machine plans.
>>71125652
They had to have cut the episodes when they were filming at one point. There would be less person of the week episodes if they were preplanned to have 13 episodes
>>71125597
If there's a spin-off, he might end up building his own ASI(that or he'll go live in a forest, change his name to "Pete", and get a pet dragon).
I thought I would have been disappointed if Finch survived. He built an artificial superintelligence once, surely he could do it again. His life was the irrelevant numbers, he wouldn't just drop it, even if the machine was killed. I thought I would feel like I got swindled out of the series being fully closed.
I've never been more happy to have been wrong.
I started studying AI and so many other things because of this show. Its been a great 5 years, guys. I'm sad that it's over, but nonetheless I'm glad it happened.
</blogpost>
>>71125710
CBS insisted they still do "person of the week" episodes, even with it being the final season and a reduced episode count.
>>71125652
CBS boned them on ordering episodes and shafted them to a mid-season replacement status. They likely weren't prepared for how much shit CBS dumped on them.
>episode 2, Finch swears he saw Grace on screen
>Machine says she didn't do it
Abandoned plotline or did I miss something?
>>71125710
I vaguely remember reading somewhere that Jonathan Nolan mentioned all the number of the week episodes this season were a "compromise" with CBS, which implies CBS not only gave them half a season, but demanded more procedural shit as well. CBS fucking shits
>>71125676
I think the Deus Ex: Human Revolution devs could pull it off too.
>>71122675
I'm just happy the hot Iranian survived.
>>71125795
He was sleep deprived from rebuilding the Machine and he missed Grace, so he hallucinated that he saw her.
>>71125625
>>71125466
I think that's more down to Ubisoft Montreal not being very good.
The first one had a handful of good ideas, but most of the missions were repetitive, boring and unrefined. This isn't helped by the main character being a rather boring guy in a poorly done trenchcoat who is a master of all things, and while you had the secondary characters (some of whom were "fixers") they weren't very well defined either.
You need a well balanced mix of characters with varying personalities and traits to keep things nice and varied. But Watch Dogs did none of that.
The second one seems to show off 4 characters with a variety of traits, but they all seem to be hackers in the "dedsec" group so it might not be varied enough.
>>71125795
>Abandoned plotline or did I miss something?
It probably meant something before the season was axed down to 15 episodes.
>>71125846
Makes sense. I assumed they were planning on having him get the same disease that his father got and that they just didn't have time. Sleep deprivation works too.
>>71125864
>15
If only.
Apparently the Machine exists in real life as facial recognition technology in Japan.
https://youtu.be/bg95EfI8_EE
>mfw POI is just a reenactment of what actually happened in real life
>mfw there's a real life Finch, Reese, Fusco, Root and Shaw that fought a cyber war between AIs and you'll never know about it.
>>71125890
>>71125864
My bad, 13 episodes.
If it had been 15, CBS probably would have forced them to be person-of-the-week episodes anyway.
Is Shaw the new "Primary Asset" or new "Analog Interface"?
>>71125963
Bear is the primary asset of course.
>>71125963
Probably both.
>>71125963
Bear is Analog Interface.
Shaw is Primary Asset.
>>71125918
>even used the colored face boxes
oh shit
>>71125963
Root was the Analog Interface because she was fanatically devoted to the machine, she completely let go of her body and followed the machine's instructions without any hesitation.
Shaw's a primary asset. The real question is : Who's the admin ?
You know, it made me surprisingly emotional to see Root again, not just because Amy Acker is a goddess but because I missed her character a lot more than I thought I would. When she was first introduced I fucking hated her, but god damn that character grew on me over the seasons.
I liked seeing her as a sort of god, watching over people in their final moments. Kind of beautiful.
>>71125811
You know what, they gave this show five (well, 4.5) seasons even though they basically abandoned what CBS wanted from it in Season 2. It easily could have been cancelled a lot sooner. I wish it had gone on longer, but I'm not that mad. It had a decent run.
>>71125811
Yeah, they could eat a dick on that one.
It'd be different if there were good or compelling like Angel's "Smile Time" before the big showdown, but it was just clutter.
>>71126041
>Who's the admin ?
Finch is still alive.
About to grab now keep the thread alive
>>71125918
More like typical Japan shenanigans. They saw a POI episode once, and set to build their new 'Gundam'.
>>71126049
I didn't like her at first, because I thought they were going down the mary sue road with her after she became allied with Finch.
But the whole thing about her being an acolyte, in the religious sense of the word and her fanaticism aspect really made the character interesting.
I'm only disappointed that Reese wasn't getting awesome solo scenes like in the first few seasons (masked Reese with a grenade launcher and shit), but it's fitting considering he's a field agent and the whole war of the AI is completely above his skill set.
>>71126150
Japan has a POI dub
https://youtu.be/Jm62s33iS3k
>>71126069
To be fair none of the number of the week episodes were terrible, it's just that when you've only got a half a season to wrap the story up it's kind of shitty to demand they waste valuable episodes on shit that doesn't really effect the main story
>>71126112
They didn't imply he'd be acting as an Admin anymore though, especially since he's gotten back with Grace, he wouldn't risk her safety by working with the machine still. That means the machine now has no failsafe.
>>71126156
See that's just the thing, at first her fanatical techno-zealot shit just annoyed me, but she really grew a fuck ton as a character, and honestly at the end she had probably become my favorite. Testament to good character development, I guess
>>71126200
What about Thornhill?
>>71125504
Thnx lad
This show is legit great, I don't know how I missed s4 getting added to netflix
>>71125918
I think the Samaritan arc has been a metaphor for a hidden war between the Zionist Jews trying to control the world (Samaritan) and the Illuminati (Machine and crew)
What really sold the idea to me was episode 10.
>"You think you can hide from an all-seeing eye?"
>"I used to BE the all-seeing eye"
But the most important part was this, I mean just listen to it and apply it to the hypothetical situation of a hidden power struggle. A new group has gained he power that the old one used to command and they intend to use it to control the world while the good guys are bound by traditional rules on how they conduct themselves which put them at a disadvantage in the fight for the world.

Can we all agree that this was the best scene in the entire season ? I get chills every time.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAABxd_KLAQ
Nolan & Plageman originally intended to use David Bowie's "Heroes" as a song in the last episode before Ramin Djawadi came up with >>71125098.
>>71126200
>implying if the machine wouldn't call Harold if it ever got in a squeeze and he could help
Plus, I think ADMIN was more of a psuedo-familial title more than an operational title.
To me, ADMIN == Father.
I find it hard to believe that the machine, through however many iterations, would allow itself to forget its creator. After all, it didn't look like it forgot Shaw.
>>71126271
What about Thornhill? He's just the Machine's fake human alias.
>>71126306
Easily. Michael Emerson nailed it on LOST and was perfect on POI too. When the fuck is it gonna be his turn to get an award of some kind?
>>71126354
It's also the name of the company that the machine uses to do stuff. I assume that's still going to be operating and pulling strings?

Looks like it, it hired a mercenary sniper to save Reese and Fusco and probably has used it's Thornhill identity to set up other cells to save the numbers.
>>71126486
I noticed that too, but I think it was just the Machine glitching out. It was dying to the ICE-9
>>71126546
Really? Fuck I didnt even know. Has he won anything for POI?
>>71126381
He (deservedly) won a couple of Emmys for Lost.
>>71126306
I have to agree with >>71126415 on this one. That scene was powerful damn awesome, but Hurt was just a bit more on that scale to me.
This season's opening No Wow was pretty good, too.
>>71126590
Right, I vaguely noticed him too, seemed odd to have some shadowy guy following them.
Probably just a Samaritan agent tracking them down to the vault, machine glitched out and confused the red and yellow box.
>>71126588
I don't think so, unfortunately. Mostly for Lost
>>71126591
>>71126627
Well shit, that makes me feel a little better then, I wish he'd win something for POI because he's done a great job as Finch, but atleast he's got some recognition. He might be one of my favorite actors
>>71126627
POI's never even been nominated for anything. Which is a shame... Emerson would definitely deserve another Emmy for it, and I don't think it would be crazy for Kevin Chapman (Fusco) to be in the running for Best Supporting Actor.
Won't happen, though.
>>71126591
>>71126588
He won 5-6 Emmys I think. He deserves something for POI for sure.
I was also dreading having Finch get that happy ending... until I bumped into the the husband and wife walking down 9th avenue last summer.
Fuck, what a way to go. Some people will now get to experience the show from start to finish. Not sure to be envious or sad for them.
>There's no more POI, ever
A spinoff would be cool. Hell, I'll even take the not-so overt POI: DC pilot episode.
But now I go without my POI weekly fix.
>>71126723
I wonder why not? PoI is pretty critically acclaimed isnt it? I heard somewhere not too long ago that its got a ridiculous number of like perfect rated episodes on IMDB or something, so clearly people think the show is good. Why no love?
>>71126695
Yeah, he gets decent recognition. He was nominated for Lost multiple times, and won once. It was mostly because of his performance on Lost that I gave POI a chance. Hopefully after this he'll get another great role, because he's always been pretty fantastic.
>>71126745
Didn't even know he was married to Grace's actress. Well shit, always thought they had chemistry together on screen, that explains a lot.
>>71126795
I felt the same way when Mad Men ended. A mixture of surprise, confusion and a bit of sadness.

That's fucked, but I guess it doesn't really matter. POI seems like the kind of show that, in 10 years or so, is going to be a sort of cult hit. People are going to look back on it fondly.
>>71126979
I think Netflix catcher-uppers will be kind to it.
>>71126745
Lucky bastard. Now you need to track down Reese, Root and Shaw.
>>71125200
>Person of Interest had to pretend to be a shitty vigilant procedural show, attempting to lay the groundwork for better factions and scifi plots whenever possible
>Season 3-5 is one fantastic ride, the lowest tier of CBS fans hate it
>Still manages to end well, while leaving the door open for a spinoff(even though the ending on its own is satisfying)
>>71122675
Holy shit, I miss this show so damn much already....
>>71122675
>Who is about to mourn the loss of the last decent CBS show?
The Price is Right has been the only remotely decent thing broadcast on CBS since Janet Jackson's nipple.
>>71127048
This image will never not make me laugh.
>>71125363
Watch_Dogs was marketed as a POI show
The plot fucking sucks
If anything, they should have ripped off POI more
>>71127107I still like Survivor.
>>71122675
I really, really hope I'm alive to see CBS go under. They put out nothing but garbage, and on the rare occasions that they do air a show that's worth anything at all, they go out of their way to sabotage it. Out of all the big networks, CBS is by far the worst.
FUCK. CBS.
>>71127211
Ehh, they gave it five years. That's decent for a high-concept show that basically tricked CBS into thinking it was a procedural to begin with. It wouldn't have lasted half that long on NBC or ABC (but might have survived longer on Fox). I just can't be that mad. I'm happy we got as much as we did.
>>71126486
I did some checking using the color picker in GIMP, averaged over a radius of 3.
The known yellow boxes' (Finch, Reese) corners clock in around 35% yellow in CMYK.
The guard's undeniably white box clocks at best 10% yellow.
Mystery man's box clocks in at 20%, but this can be adjusted for the additional distance scaling.
His box is undeniably yellow.
Too bad we'll never find out why.
>>71125850
Difference is I wanted to care about the protagonists of POI
-John Reese seeks atonement for all of the death and destruction he was part of
-Root, when reformed, strived to become a better and even moral person when serving the machine
-Fusco was redeemed by Carver, and will likely be a servant of the Machine, along with Shaw, in the future.
-Carver redeemed the NYPD by dismantling HR
Etc
They are people striving to become better, to make a positive impact on the world.
Aiden Pierce is all about vengeance and MUH FAMILY, it's annoying
>>71125918
>https://youtu.be/bg95EfI8_EE
>Colored boxes
>Threat assessment
>Muh Efficiency from the alternate timeline
>It's a mix of Machine and Samaritan
We're living in a world run by AIs and I'm totally cool with it.
>>71127276
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy we got 5 seasons, and I'm happy we got a good ending, but CBS was trying to kill this show long before the 5th season. It started when they moved it to a different, later timeslot, knowing it'd bleed off ratings. Then going weeks without airing new episodes. They were trying to fuck over it's ratings for a long time, to justify cancelling it. Because the last couple seasons they were only breaking even on it.
>>71126420
strong work, comrade. All I have is :'(
>>71127391
All about the damn dollars. Which I understand, but it's still shitty for shows that don't throw explosions in your face every 25 seconds.
>Limitless aired in the downtime before POI season 5 started
>Got axed after one season
>Poi was already confirmed kill before that
Fuck, why do they do this to me?
>>71127357
I hate to be a buzzkill, but there is probably nothing AI about that NEC product. At best, it's using some sort of ANN somewhere in the pipeline, but there's no way a security-critical system would use something as uncertain as that for anything more.
This product is to the Machine or Samaritan, as a Ctrl+F is to Google: This product only searches for photos uploaded to it by it's owning entity (company, police dept.), and that's it.
>>71127020
they already are. supposedly it sells dvd sets well.
>>71127579
Shows on Tuesday nights that don't have "NCIS" in the title are doomed, it seems. I wonder how Bull will do with Weatherly being the main draw for it.
>>71127515
To be fair, Person of Interest didn't exactly skimp on the explosions either. It just happened to have smart things to say between them.
>>71127276
didnt Fox cancel the following? that shit was brutal as fuck for a broadcast channel show. Joe Carroll was evil as fuck. it was like hannibal but sleazier and dirtier like some of the HBO shows.
>>71127686
Which made it perfectly okay with me. It was just shock value, they had a story to tell.
>>71127732
My point of reference for Fox is always Fringe. People complained when that show was canceled after five seasons, but on any other network it probably wouldn't have gotten five episodes, if it was even given a chance in the first place. Despite the complaints (like with Firefly), Fox is usually pretty solid about treating sci-fi shows well and giving them a chance to succeed.
>>71127967
Fringe is a case for when one of the network executives has a boner for the show.
>>71128036
I believe it was a literal boner in this case. Isn't Anna Torv married to a Murdoch?
>>71128071
>Cousin of Elisabeth Murdoch, Lachlan Murdoch and James Murdoch.
>>71128071
I think she's Rupert's niece or something.
>>71127592
Nice try, Greer.
>>71128119
>>71128155
That's right.... It was nepotism instead.
Person of Interest meant something to me, Helped me, made me love... And i will always remember. So it's not dead!
Have we discussed the fact that the guy who played Collier (head of Vigilence) in Season 3 was the same guy who won the Best Leading Actor Tony last week for playing Aaron Burr in Hamilton? I just realized that. Good for him.
>>71125098
I remember this being used in another show. Which one was it?
Also, RIP John. My favorite character in the show along with Harold and Elias, and I've always felt he deserved a happy ending being the most loyal and dedicated one of them all, although this ending was perfect for himI cried
I guess that's enough for me. Goodbye Person of Interest.
>>71128333
the tears were flowing during the rooftop scenes with:

I think I've listened to it 6 times already.
>>71125363
Yeah, and I remember Nolan and Plageman saying they are interested in the medium.
I think a point&click adventure game would be a great fit (although that will never happen)
>>71128333
>I remember this being used in another show. Which one was it?
wikipedia says battlestar galactica
>>71128333
This?: https://youtu.be/kCrxDsuwXjI
>>71125385
i don't believe so, but i only checked a couple eps from season 5.
if she was i'd probably be crying.
i'm going to miss this show.
>>71128725
>i'm going to miss this show.
If you remember it, then it never really dies.
>>71125811
Yeah they also implied Elias would have had a bigger role if CBS hadn't screwed them.
In short CBS deserves to crash and burn, nothing but shit on that channel.
>>71126156
>I didn't like her at first
Yeah I didn't like her much when she became the analog interface, and I really disliked her during S4 because she felt like a walking deus ex machina (how much agency do Finch & co. actually have in s4 with relation to the main plot? It didn't feel like much, and rather like the machine railroading them). The romance plotline felt like a waste of screen time to me.
However my opinion completely changed during S5.
>>71125963
I'd like to primary her asset if you know what I mean
so John died the same way he was supposed to when he got fucked over by the cia
also isn't it weird that Finch's love interest was also his mother on Lost?
>>71127967
>Fox is usually pretty solid about treating sci-fi shows well and giving them a chance to succeed.
really?
>>71128419
you weren't the only one anon. The whole
>eveyone dies alone but...
hit me right in the feels. They didn't died alone, she was there.
>>71129241
>not wanting to be JC's primary asset
>>71124710
Would have liked to see more of her
>>71125963
Fusco is Primary Admin
Do you guys think he's an exception or is Shaw back to using deadly force on a regular basis?
>not wanting to hug this guy
>>71125963
It had to end. That was the last pay phone in New York City.
>>71129754
This is true. Coincidentally (or not?), they're all being turned into public wifi hotspots...
Fuck CBS
Also
>Philip Glass
It's funny how often his Metamorphisis work is consistently used in media.
I remember first hearing it in 2003, buying the CD, and then practicing and memorizing the first three compositions.
What a fitting song to have it end.
New thread, anyone?
If not, well, at least the series finale's thread hit bump limit.
What a ride, you guys.
>>71129650
Probably not, but I'm damn glad this dick's the exception.
>>71129905
with cameras.
>>71130217
The machine is upgrading.
Man, i know, as a loner bitchboy i lovingly let good media affect me too much, but boy PoI did change my whole character! I literally wouldn't be the guy i am now without it
>>71130266
The story will always be good, but I think POI will look terribly dated in even five years.
>John dies with a smile on his face, having saved the right life
The show abandoned some of its verisimilitude towards the end in favor of emotions and drama, but it really payed off.
>>71130436
or super accurate on concept.
Had hoped to see Carter again in the finale, even just as a flashback, but I suppose that episode in season 4 where John nearly dies and her "ghost" keeps him company and keep him going till help arrived was a damned fine way to bring her character full circle, I suppose.
Taraji is awesome on Empire, she was born to play Cookie.
Here, have a pic, probably my fave of her.
Thanks for 5 seasons of great drama to the cast and crew, even if CBS did fuck 'em over with forcing them into 13 episodes to rush it out.
Still feeling like they re-introduced those 3 characters from past episodes in the D.C. one a few weeks back for a reason, and since it's obvious The Machine lives albeit in a new fomr, somehow methinks we haven't seen - or heard - the last of POI.
I just hope they don't end up doing some CSI/NCIS bullshit with a show in different cities. Honestly, POI is done for me and a spinoff would just be a big disservice to the fans at at this point. Yes it would be awesome to see more but, I mean really, what can they do with what's left - The Machine won, Harold lives, Shaw and Fusco and Bear made it out alive, the people they've helped live, and so on.
It was a good show, it had a good run (fuck you, CBS), now it's time to move on.
>>71130515
Oh, right. I only meant visually. Things are changing fast again. Seems like they slowed down for a while (maybe so everyone could be smartphoned) and now things are on the move again. Why even use street cameras and mics when people are self tagged with cameras, mics, and gps?
>>71122675
This was one of the weakest series finales ever. So disappointing and unsatisfying.
>>71130789
Still better than Mad Men.
>>71130638
Well, she did make chief, though.
>>71130789
The consensus appears to be that they're seeking to spin the series off. Killing off everyone and everything involved doesn't typically let you do that.
If they don't start a new series then I agree, there was much less closure than I'd prefer, but I'm hopeful.
Harold should've died in the end.
