these are always the best
pic I took in Indonesia

Somewhere on the northern slopes of Mt. Elbrus, Russia.
>>935347
gorgeous
>>935348
More Elbrus then.

Tsminda Sameba church during Mt Kazbek ascent, near Stepantsminda/Kazbegi, Georgia.
>>935353
that's mad, did you hike up there?
>>935355
Tried both Elbrus and Kazbek, but both ended with a severe storm forcing us back down.
Pic is Kazbek.
Pic related Rio de Janeiro
>>935356
I remember you. Your thread was one the best I've seen in this board
Krasnoyarsk Pillars National Park
>>935359
Many thanks. Probably was the best trip I've made so far too. If all goes well, I'll be attempting Kazbek (again) and Tetnuldi later this year. Might make another thread then, especially if I make it to the summit(s) this time.
Pic is Kilimanjaro 2008.
>>935362
At what age did you start trekking?
This morning in Irkutsk
>>935365
Did some hiking in my teens, but I've only really picked it up again last year.
Sadly, my country doesn't offer a whole lot in the way hiking, so I usually have to travel in order to hike.
Pic is Milford Sound, NZ. Probably the most Chinese-infested place other than China.
Anyone interested in me dumping photos from my trip to North Korea?
>>935390
Yes
>>935390
Certainly.
>>935390
By all means, go ahead.
Pancake Rocks, Punakaiki, NZ.
I don't think it's fancy enough.
But eh, I took this in Izmir, Turkey last Summer. Had a great time there. Will be back in February.

Aphia Temple: Aegina Island, Greece. This past Sept.
View from outdoor shower, Delicias, Costa Rica 2012.
Closer to home.. Freaky guy thing in window alongside the High Line in NYC, 2011.
Just back from a winter trip to Yellowstone, I'll post a couple of pics, why not?
>>936029
Nice. Adding to "someday" list.
>>936034
>>936036
I don't travel much, but it was awesome. I liked the "off the path" aspect of it. You always hear of Crete, Santorini, etc.. Aegina is so close to the mainland, and somehow relatively empty.
>>936037
Enclosed space or just straight up out in the wild? Crazy!
>>936037
>Mammoth Hot Springs
>>936040
Wild -- I was in a snow coach heading out towards Old Faithful from Gardiner and that is walking along the side of the road.
Looks amazing. But too cold for me, ha.
>>936044
Old Faithful erupting.
The downside to seeing it in the winter is that the steam condenses so rapidly in the cold, you don't always see the water spraying around. On the other hand, the steam spraying up into the air was pretty good, and, unlike in the summer, there were maybe 5 other people watching.
>>936046
Really too cold for me as well, woke up one morning in Gardiner and it was 17 below F.
But still, it was beautiful in the winter, and didn't resemble rush hour in a big city at all, which, to me, would have ruined it,
This guy was pretty much at the limit of y zoom, but I still like it.
>>936049
Side trip to Bozeman and the Museum of the Rockies. This was the -17 day, the park was closed to most outdoor activities so we decided to make a run to see something not on the itinerary.)
>>936051
Condensed steam near one of the hot springs made these super-delicate frost feathers on the surrounding trees. If you touched them or breathed on them they'd fall apart.
>>936054
Last one, don;t want to hog the thread.

Just thought the ladder right into the ocean was the coolest thing. I don't get out much. Aegina Island, Greece
Horseid Beach, Lofoten
>>936085
It's just something special to see, just man taming nature.
>>936076
Dayumn. Amazing shot.
Tongariro Alpine Crossing, NZ, picture of Mt Ngauruhoe aka Mt Doom of LotR fame.
>>935449
is that heaven?
why must NZ always be so good?
>>936112
A small piece of heaven maybe. Pic is more of the same place.
Sadly, the thing with NZ is that - through importing invasive European species and establishing immense grazing grounds for sheep - while it has amazing scenery, it is almost completely devoid of animal life. Beautiful, but equally barren in a way.
Luckily, there's areas that are less affected because they're so remote and sparsely populated, namely the Southern Alps and the West coast of the South Island.
Lake Bled in Slovenia.
Taken on an iPod Touch so excuse the grain.
>>936112
Southern hemisphere only has ten percent of the worlds population.
>>936113
well, we didn't really have any animals to begin with. Most (all??) mammals were introduced. Before the Europeans came it was mostly native birds and insects.
>>936170
You had two or three species of bats for mammals, one of which has gone extinct by now. Any other mammal has been introduced.
It was mostly the lack of almost absolutely anything but sandflies and birds I can find in my own backyard that unnerved me. And often the lack of absolutely any wildlife or biodiversity. I've seriously seen more species of butterflies in my own garden in a single day than during the whole six weeks I spent all over NZ. I loved my stay there, but your country is probably the biggest ecological disaster I've seen.
Pic is Ireland somewhere along the Wicklow Way.
>>936243
You forget dolphins
>>936244
True, marine wildlife has luckily escaped the fate of its terrestrial counterpart.

>>936439
Okay, I'll get back to Italy, but this is canyonlands national park, just saw this in my album and wanted to share
If you're in to hiking and camping, you NEED to go to to canyonlands, it's where Aaron ralston cut his arm off
>>936456

>>936457
Oh yeah, that's my hot ass gf in the pic, my bad
Anyways, this is burano, an island of Venice not connected to Venice by bridge
>>936458
Tortoise fight, Galapagos Islands
>>936459
I am still annoyed at myself for not knowing to get over there when in Venice.
>>936459
Manarola. One of the five villages of cinque Terre
Really I can't stress enough how much you should go. We went in winter and it was still sunny and beautiful
>>936461
Don't feel bad, my gf and I didn't really consider it but someone swore to us it was good, so we took their word for it
>>936460
Dubai, penguin contemplates what might have been, and how evolution done him wrong.
Ami that's enough for now, I guess.
>>936466
Nothing for it but to go back, I guess.
>>935338
How has nobody asked you about this?
Surely that was ot just some random xrab you saw walking down the street?
>>936468
Well, you got about thirty more years before Venice sinks into the sea, so do it my man/woman

>>936480
Two people I know who run a travel website that just went on a tour around Asia, it was a shot in the dark, my bad
But on that note, you guys should all visit adriftanywhere.com and welltraveledmile.com
These are run by my gf's two good friends. But they saved us literally thousands of dollars on our trip to Italy: free plane tickets and practically free 4+ star hotel stays (and kept us out of hostels). (Tickets would have been about $900 each, but we paid $100 each. Hostels total would have been around $700. These sites helped us find a deal that allowed us to book $1400 of hotel stays for $120. And we haven't met a shit hotel yet!)

>viral marketing crab
Good lord you people take some beautiful photos.
I'm about to go to Cuba in May and want to take some similar ones from there. Hopefully not going off topic but can anyone recommend a fantastic camera for a simpleton?
>>936457
>If you're in to hiking and camping, you NEED to go to to canyonlands, it's where Aaron ralston cut his arm off
Can you visit the arm?
Look Adolphin!

>>936506
Fortuitous timing. I always get a nice picture of the splash.
For that matter, I should post my extensive collection of pictures of A Famous and Beautiful Landmark, Obscured by Telephone Pole.
>>936509
Indeed.
Norway
Norway again, I just thought this was funny. It looks like "No jumping cars on your motorcycle"
>>936501
Unfortunately no,
There is a rock formation you can hang out in though that has "natural air conditioning" though, that was sweet
