Hey all, shilling my comic script one more time tonight.
Last night I posted a script for a comic about Nick and Judy having a lighthearted conversation in a bar that turns into a painful internal monologue for Nick. I was trying to capture a similar tone to TSF.
Originally I was going to draw it, but I'm pretty terrible at art.
Consensus yesterday was that it was difficult to read due to the script format. If you have thoughts on whether it should be translated into a short story, or whether you would like to see it drawn, any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

To be honest there are very few fics that are actually good. There are two benchmarks that need to be met, and are often failed:
First, the theme/plot of the fic has to be solid/logical.
Second, the writing has to be above-average.
The second one is what fails the most. Take "Blueberries", for example. Solid idea about Nick being a cop in Bunnyburrow, completely ruined by the author writing like he is a 7th grader turning in the first draft of an essay.

A:They try to do something dramatic then go way too far. There was a fic I was reading earlier where upon see Nick and Judy together, Stu absolutely loses his shit and disowns Judy.
Then later Nick goes to try to patch things up alone with him, and in a single conversation Stu is like "Ok, you seem nice enough, i guess I jumped the gun". Not only was the drama earlier very sudden and over the top, but it got solved super easily.
The other issue, which is semi related to the example I just gave
B:So many writers can't stick the landing. I know endings are hard, but so many endings, whether to just plotpoints or the story in general, are just unsatisfying.

This bugs me as well. However, if you use the right music (as in, an actual link for the reader to listen to) with the right writing, music can be a powerful tool to manipulate the reader's emotions.

Honestly, this is very heartfelt, but this also comes across as a cartoonist drunken confession. That's all I can picture. It's too grandiose for Nick. This could work if it were a comedy, but as a serious piece I feel that Nick's character is way too dramatic (even if it is a twist).
You can still maintain that jagged emotional edge (which you honestly do wield well), if you brought down his theatrics a bit. Maybe even cut some parts about growing old and stuff like that, because it's too much fluff
You know, I just realized. All the pictures of Molly kissing Desmond have her bending her neck and bending over to get her mouth low enough. But considering how long her arms are, she could totally pick him up and raise him up to be level with her head if she wanted to.
