Why is Zootopia considered the "furry movie?"

All the furries, including Onta, are claiming this as a revolution in the fandom, but all the characters are literally just animals standing on their hind-legs.

If they were anthros, all the animals would have humanoid bodies, titties and roughly be around human size. Like Robin Hood. These are just regular animals with opposable thumbs.
>>

The hen clearly had cleavage in that movie, stop being a shit.

Furries on 4chan != all furries everywhere.
Most furries are chill and don't rub their fetish in everybody's face like here.

Yes and no.
I consider 4chan's furries to be a middleground.

Other furries I've met in public are rather reserved, only bringing it up if they know for sure you mentioned it.
However, you also have the crowd that is just plain crazy. Crazy to the point where that is literally all they can talk about, the lord help you if they see you can draw a wolf or something.

The biggest issue is that the insane people are a LOUD minority, and the general public can only think of them when the word "furry" is mentioned, and it's easy to see why.
>>
>>1956155
Furries covers everything from feral (4-legged talking animals) to cartoonish to humanoid to human with cat-ears.

In fact, if you consider the amount of goo-girls, latex-creatures, reptiles and assorted other animals and inanimate objects that populate the fandom, we could easily just rename it to the "Rule 34 fandom".

Because the term covers an absolute fuckton of things when you look at it strictly from its "base" definition.

Way more than what people usually want to imply with it.
>>
>>1956155
there is actually a hell of a lot more work in anthropomorphizing Zootopia's characters than what most fandom artists do, which can be simplified to slapping animal features (a muzzle, digitigrade legs, ears, etc) onto a base with human anatomy.

There's actual consideration taken for how the world around them works, as well.
>>
>>1956155
Just furfags being furfags. Anthropomorphic stuff isn't new. In fact, it's incredibly old. I guess they're hoping for new "recruits".
>>
>>1956155
>high budget
>Mainstream film featuring anthro characters
>some fairly obvious sexual implications (Gazelle and her Bara Tiger dancers, Nudist resort.)
>Has an advertising video that explains what anthropomorphic is
It's not hard to figure out.
>>
>>1956155

It's animal characters done right, for once.

Standing up right, but without complete human anatomy.

Stylized, but not deformed beyond recognition.

Traits of animal species are present, instead of simply being furry humans.

Yes, I consider it a revolution in a way.
>>
>>1972356

Not new recruits, they will get that regardless. They are hoping for normalization of furries.
>>
>>1972539

On top of all that, Disney encouraged furries to viral market the movie by posting pictures of themselves at the movies in fursuits. I'm okay with that.

Then they're not really getting it. Anthro stuff is pretty much a human thing. That's like Ratbat hoping Cars will make her fetish publicly acknowledged.

When you get down to it, furries are just people who feel especially strongly about something that's otherwise a fairly regular aspect of human expression. Honestly, the existence of the furry community seems to be putting a bit of a brake on sexy depictions of anthro animals. Before the furry fandom became a thing, it wasn't at all unusual to put a sexy cat in a cartoon.

Pic related. She looks like something you'd find on e621.

"furry movies" dont exist, the true question is... what was the first anthropomorphic movie?

If I remember well it was a very old vintage black white stop motion movie, a fable with antrho animals... i think was a French movie, i dont remember the name but im talking about something maybe even before ww1

the Lion King, Alpha and Omega, Balto... is also "furry" if they are animals and have some degree of "humanisation" they are inside of the radar of the furries, even a lioness in a cartoon,l if she acts like she have a human brain (she can't talk but have a intelligent behaviour, like a speckless human being and a expresive face and body language)
>>
>>1956155
Because furries are still under the delusion that they're an oppressed minority when in fact everyone stopped giving a shit a long time ago, so when something mainstream crops up that fits into their comfort zone they latch onto it and try to put it on some kind of pedestal because it ostensibly represents them, when in fact nobody gives a god damn fuck.
>>
It's not a furry movie. There has been thousands of movies with walking animals in them. We don't call the loony toons a furry fuckfest do we? It is just that 12 year old wana-be furries think everything animal is JUST FOR THEM AND NOT ANYTHING ELSE!

I don't give a fuck if people call it a furry movie or not. Judy a cute, and there's some nice porn.

The definition of anthropomorphism isn't that complicated though...

"an·thro·po·mor·phism (ăn′thrə-pə-môr′fĭz′əm)
n.
Attribution of human motivation, characteristics, or behavior to inanimate objects, animals, or natural phenomena."

So there you go. They're anthro.

The oldest piece of uncontested figurative art, at 40,000 years old, is an anthro lion.

You're right, this stuff is embedded deep. But what I really hear floated is not the "mainstreaming" of furry, but rather something to produce a second or third wave of furry fandom. Stuff that has the same effect that Gadget, Princess Sally, or Cleo had on 90's kids. Because as you said, attractive animal people have dried up somewhat.

>Before the furry fandom became a thing, it wasn't at all unusual to put a sexy cat in a cartoon.
Eh, the furry fandom predates the drop in sexy cartoon animalfolk, and I suspect that plenty of animators and artists got in on that, just like it is today. The problem is that the general public got wind of it, too.

I get the feeling this was somewhat spawned by that discussion about Judy being in heat and Nick basically tying her up with various sex toys working on her to help, and I said that it wouldn't work because she needed Nick for it, cause it just wouldn't work if she didn't feel loved.

Is this that thing?
>>
>>2032004
Nope, it was actually spurred by an anon jokingly suggesting "Nick getting a sprained pelvis, Judy coming up with all sorts of elaborate ways to boink despite this".

Didn't end up going all the way through with that idea because I'm a talentless hack who can't think of more than 3 or 4 ways of boinking, without involving all sorts of freaky fetishes.
>>
>>2032033
If you want a tip or two, stop having them say "penetrative" and penetration. It's not particularly cute, or sexy, or how anyone would expect someone to speak.

>You’re in no condition for any kind of penetrative sex, Nick.
should just be "You're in no condition for sex" for example. What you wrote is far too clinical, formal, impersonal.

Saying that Nick's "in no condition for sex" would have been a bit awkward considering the rest of the story.

It did feel a bit awkward, yes, but I couldn't really think of any other way to say it. It did come off as something Judy would say, kinda. The way she was so knowledgeable about codes and regulations and such; I wouldn't doubt she'd use big words from time to time.
>>
>>2032235
>would have been a bit awkward considering the rest of the story.

Not with what comes after, Nick reminding Judy that there's more than just the knot. It would show that Judy was just thinking of the one bit, forgetting all the foreplay and everything else that one can do to get off.

For ages now I've just been imagining Nick coming with Judy to visit Bunnyburrow, for whatever reason, work, or vacation, or whatever, and it turns out that all of Judy's sisters just become infatuated with Nick, all of them wanting to date him and stuff and it makes Judy supremely jealous.

It would be all of Judy's unmarried sisters. Older, her age, and younger.

Obviously only the older ones would be wanting to get with Nick, but the little ones, like that cute little sister that runs after the train at the start of the movie, would be all like "Judy, I'm gonna marry your boyfriend!"

Considiering how fox-ist her father and mother are, I highly doubt they'd be into him. They've been influenced more heavily than Judy due to proximity.

Because it's not some alternate fantasy world where foxes live in huts in the middle of the forest going on quests and adventures. It's modern. Most of the shit in that movie tech-wise you can find here on Earth. Along with that, it's also more socially and societally relatable. Jobs, apartments, other people. One of the big things talked about with the furry fandom, is that what would life be like if everyone was an anthro animal instead of human, and Zootopia does a very good depiction of it.

Anthrpomorphic animals do not equal furry.
They've been around for a really long time. Liek centuries. They've been in animation since the birth of cartoons with characters like Felix the Cat, Mickey Mouse and even the original Betty Bop(She was drawn as a dog originally).
Furries is just some miniscule fandom that popped up in the 80s as some off-shot of SciFi conventions. They came to light thanks to the Internet legions finding someone to h8. But yeah, unless the work is original characters and art from said community it is not furry. That's just nonsense. I bet my bottom dollar furries have contributed nothing to the animation industry, saying shit like funny animal media is furry, which is pretty popular with the general public, is just enabling these lads to think they've some legitimacy when it comes to the long and proud animation history.
It would be, for example, saying the Last Unicorn is a brony movie or anime is only a otaku's medium which is totally false.

It's significant because it's going to create a new generation of furries. A lot of the current furries were heavily inspired by things like Balto and the Lion King or (going back further) Robin Hood. These movies weren't meant to incite a sexual response, but in a significant portion of the target audience, it did.

The same thing will happen here, some young teenagers will see this movie and wonder why that fox & bunny are making them feel funny. At some point they'll go on google images, look them up, see this in the first page of results, and after that... the seed has been planted.
