There's speculation that the head on his chest is fake. Which, the more I look at it, the more it looks like that is indeed the case.

I'm honestly not sure if that's enough to put me off the figure or not. Normally, I'm a stickler for these kinds of things, but this guy just looks so damn GOOD
>>
>>5729931
It's 100% a fake chest and I personally could not give less of a fuck
>>
>>5729936
>It's 100% a fake chest and I personally could not give less of a fuck

THIS.

It's accurate in both modes and I actually think it's pretty ingenious when they manage pull off things like this.

Some people believe that using fake parts it's the easiest way to acomplish a transformation, but actually most of the time this kind of shit is more difficult to design that just using the same piece in both modes. When done sparingly and in cases where it's necessary to keep show-accuracy I have zero problems with it.
>>
>>5729931
It does look fake and in this case makes the figure look more impressive. Like, where is it in beast mode?

Pardon my ignorance, but what's the best way of picking up a Masterpiece figure? I know the normal Japanese sites have them, but I know they also have US versions (sometimes?) too. Seems like the best way is to just preorder on whatever Japanese site has the best discount, but is there anything else one should look for or know beforehand?
>>
>>5730139

Just preorder on Amiami or HLJ when it goes up and you'll be fine.
>>
>>5730141
For sure, thanks. I can drop $100 bucks on Cheetor, what else am I doing with my life?
>>
>>5730139

>but is there anything else one should look for or know beforehand?

Not really. Just check your currencys exchange rates to yen, and look around for which sites have a better price on the figure itself, and the actual shipping prices as well.

Masterpiece figures sometimes get a worldwise release in many other countries outside of japan, but the paint aps and colors are usually different or not as good as Takaras, and in North America especially they will get scalped to fuck and back, making finding one damn near impossible.

I can gurantee that if they do a US release of masterpiece Optimus Primal that the first day he comes out there will be dudes posting up pictures on Ebay with giant stacks of masterpiece boxes wanting double the price it is in stores. They are almost always ToysRUs exclusives, and duded either work there, or have friends there that get them whole shipments of toys. Or they just call the place every hour on shipment/delivery day to see if they came in and then rush down there and buy every single one.

I say just fuck it and order the Japanese/asian release one. It will have better paints, and be much easier to get.

Lazy design, same thing as CW optimus Prime having faux robot mode windows.

>>

By them ending up there on most every version of the character, and being the design intent.
>>
>>5730723
I looks like the head on the chest is larger than the head in beast mode. Without two separate heads, the overall proportions of one mode was going to have to compromise.

You can't use the same cat head for both modes, it has been tried twice, you'll end with either a skinny chest or a huge cat head, the cgi cheated a lot.
>>
>>5730738

>>

>Lazy design

You know, I really wish people would find a better go-to word, because it seems like most of the time someone calls something "lazy" for not doing whatever it is they think should have been done, the thing they were expecting is typically unreasonable, at best, if not outright impossible.

As nice as it is to see in rare instances when it's actually possible to pull off, there are times it simply is it, a lot of the times people expecting their transforming robot toys to be completely accurate in all modes and not cheat on any details no matter how physically impossible that is, is basically the toy equivalent of saying "I want everything in one bag, but don't make it too heavy" at a supermarket checkout.
>>
>>5730750
transfags will complain bout everything
just buy the toy and ignore the fandom

Lazy how? If anything it's more complex and creative than using the original cheetah head and ending up with something that looks worse. These are toys, they don't have to function like the exact model used on the show. All that matters is they look good and have good articulation without being flimsy/fragile.

>1: All figures must be made using existing molds (new heads and accessories are allowed however). For the sake of argument, the entire Transformers mold library is available.
>2: A character is not allowed to be made using a mold they've already been made in.

Robot mode reveals where the paint is lacking though. There's no decepticon symbol tampos in either mode too, only that ugly sticker which i promptly removed (Thankfully they did not retool an indent for it)

Yes, I prefer the Brawl mold. He's my favorite Combaticon, owing to his ankles and peg holes.
>>
>>5731090

Yeah, we were pretty much screwed on having a regular green Brawl when Hasbro went with the baby poop green. Since he was that color in the show, that was what Takara was going to do all along as well. They just added some detail.

Kind of sucks since the baby poop color doesn't really look that interesting, and is so close to Blast Off's brown on the Hasbro set.

Why digibash just one mode?

As for the speculation about the fake chest, where...does it fold into?

I really hope its not using fake kibble, I've long suspected the lower jaw folds away allowing the cheetah head to come down with the plates only compatible with cheetah mode
>>
>>5731396
There's no seculation, IT IS a fake head. Just look at the overal shape and sculpted whiskers, it's really obvious.

And I don't really care as long as it looks good.
>>
>>5731408
What if MP is going full SoC? Swapping parts for perfect transformation and show accuracy.
>>
>>5731411
I thought about that at first, but there's a pin on the chest head that wouldn't make sense unless it moves for transformation.
>>
>>5731408
Maybe the fake head and robot head store in the torso in beast mode and the real cheetah head is housed right behind the fake one in robot mode?

Obviously. It's the only way this could work.

Yep. MP Primal has the same thing. In the original toy the front part of the gorilla face swung down into the chest but the MP has a more complex system where parts fold out of the chest to make it look better. Has to be the same thing here.

They bring in random Takara goods. Random like, this and that Supreme Bumblebee I keep annoying /tfg/ about were the only TAV deluxes they brought in.

As others have pointed out, there's no speculation to be made – it's a fake head. The "real head" is tucked directly behind with the ears sticking out.

If this seems like a new precedent to you, just look at MP Primal. The character design obviously implies that the face flips inside out and forms the chest, but the MP toy cheats to achieve a more accurate look.

This has already been brought up, but Primal and Cheetor are setting up a consistent pattern for what to expect of MP-BW as far as cgi-accuracy, beast mode compromises, and willingness to cheat the transformation (and hopefully the water-transfer decal technique). Take it or leave it.
>>
>>5731658

I honestly think it shouldn't be considered "cheating" if you make a toy that looks better this way. Unless the whole toy is literally partsforming ala G1 Seekers or something, because that was a level of bullshit that few toys could ever pull.
