Post your favorite toys from the 90s!
I loved these Trendmasters castles. They were like Polly pockets, but larger and came with keys on necklaces that were needed to open the castles. I remember the ones I had were coated with glitter glue and fake gems.
Attack Packs was my favorite by far. I've actually bought some of them for my kids, they love them too!
>>5686049
Oh man I had a huuuuge one of these, it was a mermaid castle. And I think one that had a tea set that popped off of the towers?
This thread made me want to get out my polly pockets and play with them again, so I guess I'll do that!
I'll post some pics later.
>>5688700
Please do!
>>5689114
Ok, I'll post them all since this thread is a graveyard.

This isn't 90s but it's in a similar vane to Polly Pockets! I used the little dolls from them in my Polly Pockets since I don't have any of the dolls, they're so fun to play with!

Starcastles are my favorite. I had one as a child and its my holy grail item now. I've seen it once on ebay but it was in disgusting condition.
The other starcastles I love are the carousal one and neptunes castle.
my favorite place in the castle as a kid.
>>5689723
Fucking adorable. What were these called again? I think I'll search them up on ebay. Nostalgia.
I have a special place in my heart for Mighty Max toys. While I had Polly Pockets, my brother had these. We'd always play together and make up dumb stories.
>>5690121
Polly Pockets anon! I think that one is
http://www.onlypollypocket.com/1995/Shetland_Pony_Stable/shetland_pony_stable.html
So after a long time of looking for what the hell this thing was called, I finally found it. Something I had as a kid, I thought it would be way too obscure to find.
It was momma cat and her babies. I remembered the heart collar and a color change if you put it in water. It was from a line called "Kitty in my pocket." Some of them are pretty cute ! But the quality control looks eh so some have sloppy paint .

>>5690153
Ooh thank you
>>5690258
What are these? So cute!
A lot of fans shit on Action Master Transformers, but for child-me they were a godsend. I could use my allowance to buy A NEW TRANSFORMER EVERY WEEK, they were all in the same scale (and a scale that worked pretty well with both city-bots and micromasters), 7 points of articulation (shut up, it seemed like a lot), and could take all kinds of abuse "real" transformers couldn't. Arms and legs torn off (and sometimes switched between bots...)
Good luck dropping Shockwave off a 20 foot patio when he was thrown off a cliff after an epic battle--oh wait, ACTION MASTER Shockwave can do that no problem! Loved 'em.
>>5690316
Not same anon but Tea Bunnies! They are the cutest little shits and there's even babies that are pastries. I really have to see if my grandma still has them somewhere in her house. Same with the huge bag of 90s LPS.
>>5690543
Thanks anon, I'm gonna go look these up and weep tears.
They're absolutely adorable.

Fuck, I was down with Mighty Max something fierce. I got the Skull Mountain playset for Christmas one year. There is archival family home video of me unweapping it and completely losing my shit.
It had all these weird little corners with little vignettes in them. It would keep me occupied for hours.
I was thinking about it on my drive home from work today. Didn't these evolve out of Polly Pocket? Doesn't that mean that Skull Mountain is just the "boy" version of a dollhouse? The mode of play is similar - young me spending hours playing pretend by moving toys around inside a fake toy building. Never really thought of that before today. Huh.
>>5690543
I had these but forgot all about them until I saw this pic! I loved them so much! I don't know how I could have ever forgotten
>>5690215
Oh my god that's adorable! I wonder how hard it would be to find these guys?
>>5689702
i had the ice cream parlor one that smelled of berries
>>5690254
Nigga I would sell my left nut to get one of these again.
I stole this toy from my cousin so frequently that she hid it and told me that the toy didn't exist and that I was crazy for thinking it did.
>>5690316
Tea Bunnies. My sister and I played with them a lot as kids. They are really cute.
My sister has slowly been recollecting them whenever she sees them at a good price in ebay.
>>5691014
Somewhere I have a big plush purple one too. Grandma kept it all these years, and when I was staying with her for a while to help out she actually came across it and put it in the room I was using.
>by the end of the stay my room looked identical to when I was 6 but fuk u it was kawaiii
I had a bunch of these at my grandma's house.
Guys I need help finding a toy I had. It was like a mighty max but it was a Humvee, and I remeber it folded out into a little mountain area with a volcano, and it had a tiny version of a hummer. I also had one that was like a drilling, mining type car, I remember it was bright orange.
>>5696535
Micro machines?
>>5696529
Holy crap, my brother had this I think.
I think we also had something that looked like a robot British cop that was similar with a light up deal on his head like a cop car would have.
>>5690209
iirc, there was a line of dogs/cats/wild animals that would come in a blind bag with a card, a figurine and some shitty candy. If you collected all the "variations" of one breed you mailed in the bags and got the mother figurine.
Pretty sure it was Puppy in My Pocket but there might have been a knock-off line. I always liked the wild animal ones.
>>5698793
No, the thing opened up and unfolded into like a little jungle looking thing
>>5702063
That might be one of the boys Polly Pockets
>>5702629
>>5702631
There's also Pollys Jungle Adventure and that has a jungle inside.
>>5702632
I had a panda one.
I also loved line called Scent Garden I think.
You get Potted plant (strawberry, melon) 3 babies a nurse and shitton of accesories.
I had melon one with tea pouring action.
I would love to see it once again!
I LOVE 90s toys :)
>>5689717
Aww shit, I remember these.
My cousin has this one, it was really great.
>>5689714
My cousin had that green one with the pink bow. I stole it cause it was the coolest fucking thing
BitzyBears!
>>5696535
Hot Wheels Adventures
>>5704327
My favorite was the Transylvania Express.
>>5702792

>>5704328
I wish I could've had this one.
>>5700559
one of the best toys from my childhood, i think i still have it somewhere. i played it endlessly for hours. when i was a bit older and discovered gta, i was so happy.
Does anyone remember a toy from Bug's Life which was basically the head of Hopper that you could open up like the Polly Pocket ones >>5689723 or was I just dreaming of that toy? I swear my cousin had one and I was so jealous of it.
>>5686049
Are you gay?
>>5686086
HOLY SHIT THANKS FOR GIVING ME THE NAME
I had this one as a kid and i was so confused about it and i tried to find it later but i didnt know the name of the maker
>>5704728
Girls browse this board anon, and 80s and 90s toys are a big part of the lifestyle of J Fashions like Fairy Kei, I collect stuff like Polly Pockets and wear a whole bunch of stupid pastel stuff.
Going to pose cute pictures of things I can't afford to buy.

>>5704817
Are we allowed to post Personal Small Horses if they're vintage and cute?
>>5704819
Calm down anon, I just ripped it off some Fairy Kei tumblr.
>>5704819
I believe grills exist in only a few places on 4chan. /toy/ is definitely one of them.
>>5704827
Sentient grills scare me.
>>5704824
I'll finish with this, enough pictures for now.
>>5704829
if girls scare you don't go to the BJD thread, it's all ladies
>>5704833
Who said anything about ladies?
>>5704824
I've longed for a thread of the miniature equestrians on /toy/ so maybe I could buy/sell/trade with others and talk about them. But I know it would get ruined by shitposters.
Fairy Winkles were my jam
>>5704851
I'm sure we'll be ok here, I'd love to have some vintage not large steeds.
Moondream, Rainribbon and Hushabye but there are just so many I love
>>5704851
Eh, I think most anons can recognize the difference between classic mini horse fans and the new breed of bro mini horse fans.
>>5704851
Post pictures of your favourites from your collection! How do you display them?
>>5704879
I have to save Munchy is my favorite. I waited a loooong time to get her and managed to get a decent deal. She just had a tiny layer of dirt that came off with some gentle scrubbing and her hair is very soft and silky. She even retains that new pony smell, over 30 years later.
As for display, I need new shelves. I have ~70 ponies total from various gens and they're all crammed onto a level of my toy shelf.
I loved the 90s Duplo house sets.
This thread is so timely. I'm going through all my childhood toys that I put in storage because my dad has just retired and is going to move soon. Since he doesn't want to take much with him, I've had to go through and choose what to get rid of, and what to send home. I'm finding all kinds of stuff and am shocked that so much of it is still intact/in such good shape.
Haul so far:
>Princess of the Flowers (not sure which one)
>Trendmasters Secret Castle (Cinderella)
>Skydancers (Pegasus)
>G1 MLPs (various, taking Tropical Sea Breeze home with me on this trip)
>Precious Places (Prancing Pony Show Ring is intact and coming home with me; also found the Ballet Studio, Chapel, Cat Show, and Townhouse)
>Littlest Pet Shops (took the majority home with me last year, but found a few missing pieces from then that are coming back this time)
>90s Holiday Barbies
>My Singing Mermaid (ruined by storage, sadly)
>Fantasy Star Fillies (missing pieces, but omfg otherwise great)
>Secret Wish Horse (Starlock)
>Breyer horses out the ass
>See-through Gameboy Pocket
>Infrared Electronic Dear Diary thing (STILL WORKS!)
A pattern I'm seeing from my childhood .... what is with 90s girl toys and goddamn keys? Was it some weird mystery thing? A chastity metaphor? A secrecy obsession? I've found so many of my old toys that have an emphasis on goddamn keys as the gimmick.
>>5704903
Woah! She's adorable! Hot dogs, curly fries and burgers? That's so cute.
That's a pretty enviable collection, are you into any other vintage lines?
>>5704903
>hot dog and burger horse
How very American.
>>5705194
You willing to sell any of those? And toys with keys are the best.
>>5705204
I'd normally say yes, but sadly don't have time to do it. I leave tomorrow to head back to Australia, and won't have time get to the post office before my flight. I was actually wrapping up the Kenner castle to put in my carry-on before reading this post.
When I'm back next year after he's moved, I might put some up for sale since I'll be staying longer.
You can drop me a line at [email protected] to let me know what you're interested in, and I can maybe set it aside and let you know when/if it goes up.
And just to contribute, here's the Precious Places Pony.
>>5705216
Also, the Kenner Castle, because I've been thinking about it since the last Retro/90s toy thread, and was beside-myself-thrilled to find that it has pretty much all the pieces still included.
>>5705267
Got the email!
I won two of these shitty happymeal lemurs at one of the games at my preschool's halloween fair. These things were the fuckin shit. 10/10 would pick as a prize again.
>>5704327
You are a god damned saint.
>>5705224
Holy crap. I was just wishing I could find this thing at my local flea market. Can you post pics of the interior?
>>5704879
My fave was always Firefly, I had the one that came with the VHS so she was one of the few I had a personality for I guess. Barnacle was a close second being the only boy I ever managed to get. Most of mine came from yard sales or hand me downs from family friends, so there wasn't a lot of choice but I was happy with any they'd give me. Pic related, some of the few I actually got new, they were prizes for doing well in Bible school (yes I was one of those kids).
>>5705216
>Precious Places
THATS WHAT THOSE ARE FUCKIGN CALLED THANK YOU ANON
I mean sorry for caps but fuck I've been trying to figure out what the hell they were for the last 12 years
>>5712300
I have that Gusty! She's been my favourite since I was tiny because of all the glitter.
>>5707784
Sorry, just getting over jetlag. I ended up having to leave it in the States because I had to rearrange my bags last minute, and I'm so shitty about it.
>>5704824
Omg, what's her name? She's adorable!
>>5720743
Pretty sure she's just known as bride pony? She came with a wedding playset.
>>5704771
pastel girls are cute. shine on you crazy diamond
>>5704807
Fuck you, that's glorious! What's it called?
>>5704824
I have her somewhere at my parents. She was always the noble princess of my herd.
>>5704869
YESSS! Me too- I had a bunch when I was very young, around 3 (yeah, my parents didn't know/care about the "choking hazard" thing, haha), and I think my father may have chucked them in a drunk tantrum one night lol. And then I found a bunch more when I was 10 or so at a factory-seconds store for super cheap. Best Christmas ever.
>>5702635
Aw shiiiit! And the plant had like neat slides and such, right? I had one too, loved that thing to death! And of course I can't remember the name because derp.
My brother and I made a whole little world with those playsets and also the Fisher Price castles, pirate ship, etc. We used to pretend that the fairies were attacking the other action figures.
>>5690258
I'm so upset how much these go for now. Used to have like 6-7 of them but gave them away a long time ago.
>>5725188
Aha, okay, found what it was called after some searching. They're Dream Garden playsets, by Trendmasters.
meme
>>5690543
I managed to grab all mine from my mom's attic when I moved out. I'm happy to see someone else remember them!
>>5690415
I actually kinda like the Action Masters too, a lot better than a lot of the "budget" lines they've tried making for Transformers in the years since the first Bay movie(for one thing the posing is better than those crappy shampoo bottle figures)
>>5704327
I have a tan version of that one, missing almost all the accessories for it though
>>5690415
I agree 100%. I want to rebuild my collection of them.
I did get this recently though.
I still love these assholes.
>>5690266
I had the green apple scented one. The much souvenir.

>>5729657
TEA BUNNIES!?
>>5729713
Correct! At first I thought this was just a little tea bunny stuff thrown into a kids tea set, but as it turns out this is even more than I thought.
>>5729742
After sorting it out looks like we've got a California Raisin, a Jim Henson crib? Silverware, two extra pastries and some squeaky toy rabbits..
And of course, Tulip Blossom & Greens on the Green Grocer and The fancy dessert party with Sweet Azalea, and Baby Sweet Lavender and the Lemon Meringue Pie and Crib
>>5729802
Notice the fucking m&m mini tube? I was like that's kinda gross some little asshole kid put old candy shit in my bag. Then I opened it up...
>>5729826
DO YOU KNOW HOW ENVIOUS I AM RIGHT NOW? I wish I could go out to charity shops. How much did you pay?
>>5726229
This arrived the other day! That's the last of my order of stuff now though.
Are any of the Polly Pocket stuff rare/valuable? Or are they all dirt cheap/easy to get on Ebay?
>>5732766
Some are, but generally speaking any set is valuable if it's complete. Most kids lose all the little parts and most sets have few to no pieces.
It's disgusting to see all the colorful magic equine toys in this thread with their iconic forelock brushed away. You should all feel ashamed, doing this is hardly a lesser crime than cutting it off.
>>5734777
Mine need a little tlc to get their hairstyles back in shape I guess... They were in storage a long time and you can probably tell a few are rehairs (I know Barnacle in particular has much longer hair than he ought to but fuck it, got him from a church rummage sale when I was a kid and someone had given him a mullet, he deserves silky flowing hair). These were the important nostalgic childhood ones but I still have a load of ones I got in lots on Ebay back before the new show came out, when you could get a fresh-from-the-basement box of grungy ponies for $20-30 and have it work out to about $1.50 a piece. Honestly had way more fun cleaning them and making their hair soft and pretty again than I ever had just buying from other collectors.
>>5736583
Also since you guys seem more sensible than the Arena ever was, how "bad" would it be seen for me to rehair that baby Firefly with a color that matches the big one I have? She was my absolute favorite as a kid and I have a bag of the right color just sitting here for other doll projects and it would take like 20 minutes to do, but I'm divided since there's technically nothing wrong with her hair now except some frizz.
>>5736585
You can actually fix the frizz. Fabric softener treatments, conditioning it... I hear boil perms don't work as well but some people swear by them.
You can customize her however the fuck you want, it's not like she's one of the jewelry babies or someone super rare.
>>5737186
She's already had the fabric softener done and even a flat ironing (which worked wonders on most others I have including that Sugarberry in the middle) but the ends are just gnarled. And yeah that is true. I think the only mildly rare one I had was Baby Princess Sparkles and her little carriage.
>>5696529
I hated this fucker.
Who /grandchampions/ here
The other week at Goodwill I actually stumbled upon a complete boxed family with all their accessories, bought them for old times' sake.
>>5738361
I was more of a Breyers kid. It feels like they've reeled production way back in recent years. Might just be because I moved but I swear Toys R Us used to carry way more of them than they currently do and even Walmart had some for a while.
>>5725566
Kinda funny; I just got home from a visit to the aquarium today and what did I find in the gift shop?
I thought it was super cute and cool so I picked it up (only £1.99) it's just a novelty pen.
Wish I had more Ones Minuscule equestrians
Good night and sweet dreams, thread!
