Speak for yourself.

I don't see any reason why this guy wasn't released stateside initially. Don't get me wrong, Rook is cool as shit, but there's nothing overly complex or fragile about Groove that would have prevented him from coming out.
>>
>>5670598
There was nothing like that preventing it. The drop test shit was a joke.

>>5670554
Scramble City limbs at least has a certain charm in that most are just pull/fold out the legs and pull out the arms. At least they're identifiable as humanoid robots unlike >>5670551
>>
>>5670618
well it's not like the Diaclone van was meant to be a humanoid robot when they came up with it.

Just think of how much fandom crying would've been spared if the animators had only stuck to the toys a bit more.

Ironhide would be a piloted mecha by other characters?

>>
>>5670776
Not him, but I'm too scared to touch some of my regular figures. G2 Silverbolt is a paint chip nightmare, with tons of areas that are going to chip if I transform him too much, the other G2 Aerialbots aren't perfect in that regard (you can't move the wings too much or you'll scrap the tampos, so you have to stop before you get to that point, plus the painted rubber nosecones, and friction paint loss on the silver of both Slingshot, and Fireflight if you transform them too much), but at least I'm not too terrified to touch them.

Nah, it was shit stirring and rumor mongering we do here to make transfags freak out. I do it all the time. there's a bunch of rumors I've started here that I've seen reported at TFW205. Its fun; I get to see how far the reach here spreads.
>>
>>5670779
To be fair, I'm in this subscription more for the limbs than I am Bludgeon/Impactor/Whoever the mystery figure will be. Matrix Quest was my shit as a kid who's Transformers knowledge was limited to G1 VHS tapes, RID/Armada (I never liked Beast Wars/Machines as a kid for some reason), and the old Titan Books TPBs of the late 80s Marvel comics, so finally having good figures of the main group of Cons in that arc is great for me. Problem is like you said Thunderwing's team during Matrix Quest never really had a team, so they just slapped on the Mayhem Attack Squad name on the group. It's not like the Mayhem Attack Squad hasn't varied through the years/continuities anyways.
>>
I've heard good things about the MP KOs commonly found on ebay, are they actually good or just good for KOs? I've been thinking of picking up wheeljack but I don't know how the details/paint/joints hold up to the real thing.
>>
>>5670816
Mixed bag, some older ones are shit as a whole but some in between are good.

Avoid the newer ko's, namely ko starscream shockwave and starsaber.

That said the over sized ko's of mp10 are godly
>>
>>5670816
Some people can deal with the minor differences in quality. I can't. Wheeljack has a rerelease this month, so if you don't mind spending the extra $20, there's that option.
>>
>>5670808
I'm not a big fan of it mostly for the Bludgeon. Yes, it's supposed to be based on the inner robot, but Bludgeon's inner robot was a tiny brown-and-green turd with a part-leprosy transformation and about two appearances to its name, and the '07 Wreckage repaint did a perfectly fine job of homaging it anyway. And compared to ROTF Bludgeon, who was one of the best figures of that line, it's just a joke. The idea of a Thunderwing had potential (Generations Thunderwing is a bit too small), but it would have made much more sense to make it from Cyclonus.
>>
>>5670790
Simply stating facts is autism? geez louise.
>>
>>
>>5670779
They are a group that is calling itself Mayhem Attack Squad, so they are the Mayhem Attack Squad. If they are truly the Wreckers enemy unit, it would make sense they have revolving membership thanks to high death rates and whatnot.
>>
>>5670785
Stop being a baby, it can't be that bad.

>>
>>5670833

>>
>>5670839
Fuck that. It should have been Prowl or Jazz for Lisa depending on if "smart guy" or "musician" is more important, Sideswipe Bart, and Bumblebee Maggie.
>>
>>5670836
G2 Silverbolt has:

-Painted sections on the plane bits, and if you tab the nose with the wings, paint will chip eventually. The tailfin is also fully painted.
-Head has clearance issues, so the antenna will chip unless you're super careful.
-The sides of the combiner chest (red in the original) are painted blue. That area scrapes against the combiner chest, and Silverbolts legs so that's going to look pretty bad after a while.
>>
>>5670578
Why would I want those? I don't care for the Protectabots, and Booboff is an easy pass. Just give me TR already.

Her knees are fucked rather than the hips. One of the parts inside the knee is backwards, so it can't fold in all the way to lock in place for robot mode like it should be able to. It doesn't affect the combined mode, at least not that I'm aware of since I don't have it.

The stuff of nightmares.

Anyway, I wonder if 3p are now going to start pumping upgade kits for FM. I assume they're waiting for Takara to announce changes before saying anything, but after the last few pics, they should star announcing:

-Cog.
-Upgrade kit for the arms, or arm replacements with pop up cannons.

We'll have to wait a while, but after they learn everything about the figure, and it's release, they should announce weapons, and a leg upgrade kit.

Just had a look at mandarake's second hand UW prices, out of the premium exclusives WITHOUT effect part addons is defensor at 16,000yen (opened box damaged)but prices vary up to around 18,000yen, grand convoy is second at 17,000yen, I don't think hasbro groove hurt him much

Cheapest regular is menasor for 10,000yen, best value is UW devastator at 17,000.

The minicons could be neat, but the main figures fucking sucks.
>>
>>5671459
for me it's transmetal2 and most of g2, aside from the cyberjets, laser optimus and dreadwing/smokescreen.
>>
>>5671459
In the 20 years I've collected, Armada was the definite low point. Completely tossed out 8 years of toy engineering from late G2 up until then in favor if intense gimmicky. There's never been a regression quite to that level ever again. What made it worse is that this was a high-point in toys at the time. Toy Biz was killing it with their MArvel Lines, and LOTR. bandai was bringing over Gundam MSiA. a bunch of other cutting edge toylines sprung up. Yet her was Trasnformers, regressing to late 80's engineering.

The sad thing is that a lot of those Armada designs where really good and fresh, the toys just didn't do them justice. Also, in hindsight, the toys are fun in a throwbacks ort of way, but I'd much rather have had them keep the same quality RiD had.
>>
>>5671482
That was the problem. The minicons rocked but the main figures were meh at best.
>>
>>5671459
RID, the 2000 one.

All the new molds sucked, and the best toys were redecos from G1, G2, and Beast Wars. Seriously, it's like the designers just forgot how to make a good transformer with the piles of shit they were releasing like God Magnus or the Car Bros.
>>
>>5671499

I went to the Collect-a-con convention in Syracuse today, and G1 Transformers were everyplace in boxes, loose, etc, however I saw one table that really caught my eye. It had sealed Japanese beast wars figures, G2 Combiner wars sets, Perfect effect add-ons, near everything you could ask for at a Transformer table. I saw he had a bin of loose CHUG figures, so I decided to look through them how expensive can a loose modern figure without accessories be?

I found a Generations Kup. He had surface scratches, his head joint was incredibly loose, it jiggled while standing still. $20. Okay... No thanks.

Okay, next, Generations Scourge. Solid condition, looked nice. How much? $20.. again. For a figure that seldom sells above $10 loose on any website.

I hear behind me a young boy get really excited about the loose figures in the bin I saw. I hear him call over his mom. Literally every figure the boy pulled out the vendor asked for $30 on it.

I felt really bad for a lot of these parents because this guys stand was more or less one of the very first in the convention upon entering, and everything he had was overpriced. He was asking $80 for a loose leader Sentinel Prime for crying out loud, and a parent was going to buy it before I stepped in a pointed out a boxed one to them for $55 at another table.

Some other fun items of note were a Combiner wars Superion missing two out of the 4 limbs, being replaced by a dragstrip and first aid without any HFG's marked $100. A pretty beat up God Ginrai in the box for $300. Hasbro Collector Edition Reissue Transformers for $75 each. A G1 Scorponok without weapons for $125.

I understand vendors need to make a profit to continue to show up at conventions, but that sort of mark up, and overall dickery is pretty fucked. Especially when people a few tables deeper into the building are selling the exact same items for retail or less.

Tl;dr Help parents out at conventions if you see them at the table of a scalper.

Hey, hasbro's ebay store has all 5 bruticus components for about 77 bucks, is that decent? But more importantly, is he in any way a better combiner than defensor, because that's pretty much the last transformer I bought and he was a little lackluster. Did they fix his combiner hips or those shoulder tabs, by any chance?

Thats a damn good price I think. Deluxes are MSRP $15 or so, and Onslaught is $24.

Bruticus as a whole is more solid, yes. Onslaught has super secure locking points for his chest shield/arms, and they fixed Defensor's Hotspot mold a bit by correcting the amount of plastic in the screw holes that made the leg bits not lock in properly in combined mode.

Cool, that's actually better than I was hoping for. And since they're in your pic, how much do the third party hands and feet help him? I kept meaning to buy a set for defensor and supes, but I never got around to it. That's the perfect effect set, right?

>and they fixed Defensor's Hotspot mold a bit by correcting the amount of plastic in the screw holes that made the leg bits not lock in properly in combined mode.

Yeah thats the PE set. I have'em for all of my combiners (Menasor, Bruticus, Defensor, Superion). I love'em, and I think they're worth the price.
>>
>>5672134

Thats the issue I was referring to above, and there is a way to fix it, yes. The problem stems (usually) from there being too much plastic in one of the screw-holding tubes inside the leg. You've got to unscrew the big blue parts that make up the leg and then figure out which one has too much plastic, sand it a tiny bit, then put it back together and see if it holds.
>>
>>5672029
Problem is, a lot of people walk into cons with barely enough for bus fare home. When you're paying upwards of $100 per table, you can't make it back $1 at a time. If rent were more reasonable, you'd see better prices from some (but not all) vendors.

Now, I don't carry loose figures, because I hate the pricing you describe. Saw some absolutely destroyed Wheeljacks at Botcon 07 for triple digits. I'll happily point you to vendors with stuff I don't have or be upfront about whether a toy is too fragile for your kid. But just because a table down the hall from me is blowing out stock at half wholesale doesn't change my margin or make me a jerk for trying to keep my head above water.
>>
>>5672112
how bad is brawl?
>>
>>5672126
Perfect Effect hands and feet for Bruticus are fantastic!
The old hand and feet guns make him have giant hands compared to tiny feet.
They help him with poseability, though there may be times when he might slouch over and fall, since he can be a bit heavy on the ball-socket joints for ankles.

Overall, awesome!

Armada Red Alert is that you?

His waist on mine clips in just fine. Apparently it's a crap shoot whether you'll get a good waist or a bad one.
>>
>>5672144
Steel City is Pittsburgh is the worst of this. They raised tables to $150, charge full freight ($40) for a helper badge, charge another $10 for the 2nd chair, and force vendors to set up Thursday night for a show that has ZERO traffic on Friday (forcing another travel/hotel day for non-locals). Needless to say, first time they sprung that on me (the Thursday bit came after signups) was the last time I bothered with that show. No wonder vendors are getting grumpy and artists complain about poor sales. I wish we had the collective backbone to tell Dominic to shove his primadona "event" where the sun don't shine.

I can, and it's for the reason every other figure in the set suffers: It looks like the CW deco just with things missing.
Groove and Hot Spot's shade of blue were the only good points. Everything else exists only to drown out all the detail that Hasbro highlighted on the mold.
They manage to accomplish LESS with more budget than Hasbro for the sake of being cartoon accurate.
>>
>>5672373
yes but it dives as quickly when a new shiny comes for a spell before it spikes back up(IF it's generations stuff, Prime by majority is slowly climbing back up.)

When Titian Returns makes a big splash I suspect most CW toys will drop for awhile until the climb up from actual lack of availability

Enjoy your Grimlock and Brawn Titanmasters instead, we knew you guys wanted new figures of them!
>>
>>5671956
Let's be honest here, while I like the beast headmasters, if they had gotten made, a bunch of people would just be posting "literally who?" and complaining that we didn't get something else instead.
>>

Fuck those popularists, they're the reason it takes ages for even slightly obscure characters to get updates.

He's a LOT better than Defensor, at least as far as the torso component is concerned. The shoulder tabs are still a little borked but it doesn't actually matter as much this time because the shoulders are oriented differently in torso mode so the fact that the forearms don't peg in super solidly isn't a big deal. The real big improvement to the shoulders is how the chest piece pegs into them. It's so much more solid than Defensor's chest plate connection AND because of the different shoulder orientation, it closes off the combiner port and locks the arm bots in place so they won't slip out when you're trying to pose them. The hips feel a bit more secure versus Defensor's as well. Still wonky in how they articulate but they're more secure.
>>
>>5672517
And this is the epitome of transformers fans.

>>5672518
And this is what is wrong with them.
>>
>>5672548
I've been a TF fan since the 80s and I like most of it, even found some redeemable qualities in Beast Machines (vehicons) I've never understood the community's "it's shit" attitude toward almost literally everything, if you don't like something just shut up about it you aren't doing anything but entertaining yourself bitching about it

>>
>>5672269

Whats wrong with Ben Yee?
>>
>>5672672
People pissed off about the Beast Wars Sourcebook, and sour grapes from the likes of Walky because Ben was actually involved in a very small way with Beast Wars and they were not.

Basically, Ben was somebody back when they were all just fanboys on usenet.
>>
>>5672512

Only really bad Vehicon was Ultra Jetstorm

Blackarachnia and Night Strike Cheetor were nice
>>
>>5672701

>>
>>5672513
If nothing else RiD15 has given us 4 amazing Decepticon designs: Thunderhoof, Quillfire, Megatronus and motherfuckingbased Fracture and 4 interesting Autobot designs: Fixit, Grimlock, Strongarm and Drift.
>>
>>5672752
I think the autobot designs is limited to Fixit, buddy, Strongarm's legion figure is great I guess but Drift and Grimlock are sad at best.
>>
>>5672765
I like Drift for his ability to store swords on the hips, but yeah other than that he's pretty meh.
>>
>>5672765
I think Drift looks great (don't own him), does the robot samurai thing better than AOE Drift, And I like the vehicle he's alluding to (though AOE's licensed one does look better)
>>
>>5672765
We all have different preferences, personally I like "Godzilla" Grimlock and Drift. Strongarm isn't my design but I still like transforming her, I should track down her Legion class figure to compare.
>>
>>5672788
Her Warrior class should take notes from her Legion
>>
>>5672790
Watched a video of the transformation for the legion class, what notes should the deluxe have taken from the legion class?
>>
>>5672797
The warrior is 90% shellformer with a giant hideous backpack, even if it's off model the legion figure makes great use of all its parts.
>>
>>5672799
Well, you can still find all the Warriors from the first wave for sale. So they're pretty much all shelfwarmers.
>>
>>5672802
>Shelfwarmer

>>
>>5672805
Heh. My bad. I can't read.
>>
>>5672808
To be fair the two tend to go hand in hand don't they?
>>
>>5672802
Funny thing is in my area the RiD15 stuff isn't nearly as prevalent as the CW figures. I was bored and had some time to kill so I checked out my local stores and found Quillfire and Thunderhoof.
>>5672799
I don't necessarily hate shelformers, I'd hate an entire wave made up of them, but they don't bother me as much as they do most of you.

You mean hardmode? Early Binaltech. Their car exterior is almost fully diecast, thus fully painted. Smokescreen was partly a shell-former and had a fiddly transformation. So what you have here is the ultimate paint-chip prone transformer. The more you transform him, the more the paint is chipped.

Did I mention that the glossy car finish = fingerprint magnet?
>>
>>5672825

Shellforming is fine to a certain degree. I love the CW First Aid mold.

On the other hand, I hate figures that don't have the shell in one piece, but break it up into a million small pieces on hinges.
>>
>>5672855
Agreed, for me it was the Trailbreaker version of the mold that I enjoy the most. Funny thing about the whole CW line is just how good of a job that Hasbro did with making the combining part fun and quick. I know some people will disagree with me, but I enjoyed the fact that I could have multiple combinations and then swap everything around in a matter of minutes. Plus as a kid I was never able to get a hold of a complete Gestalt so it's been nice being able to piece these together with relative ease, heck most of the limbs were found on the same peg.

Normally, these minicons are tied to autobot/decepticon factions due to the shape of the armor's runner. So what they did was to faction-swap the two minicons that didn't have the armor. It's quite smart.

>Online retailer anime-export.com has updated the listing for Takara Tomy Transformers Legends LG31 Fortress Maximus, revealing a fun little tidbit of information, which will probably go down well with fans of the original Headmasters series: it looks like the Japanese version of the toy will include new voice recordings by original voice actor Ikuya Sawaki

>Transformers Legends LG-31 - Fortress Maximus!!
The huge Transformers is back in the Legends line-up!
60 cm tall in robot mode.
From the 1987 series Transformers Headmasters.
The toy features sound gimmicks such as the original animation opening song, its signature sentences plus new ones registered by the original voice actor specifically for this toy!
Cerebros is also included!
