Anyone got any thoughts about the Plague Troopers? Awesome concept that got fucked over because it came out at the time the Valor vs Venom line was on it's death bed and Devil's Due generally speaking, barely touching it so that they could run Joe Casey's Thunderbolts rip-off instead.
>>
and what was their thing? like

IG = Destro's private army
CG = Cobra SS/Gestapo/CIA
Plague troopers = ???

PS: Last thread could still could be bumped, I think the limit is 310
>>
>>5667791
Basically the best of the bests of the vipers and other specialist Cobra goons. Led by GI Joe turncoat and all around psycho Blackout and answerable ONLY to CC.

They were CC's personal death squad and had a roster of 13 members, mirroring the original 13 man roster GI Joe had in its first wave
>>
Huh my TRU got a restock of three-packs. Question how is the movie three-pack of CC/Duke/Cobra Trooper? I'm always tempted to get it for an extra Cobra Trooper and CC. But I'm guessing they use the 25th molds given the Duke in pack too. So.. worth the purchase or not?

I should just buy the three-pack that has the Alphine, SWAT trooper (even if I own ten), and the Rock Viper shouldn't I?
>>
>>5668893
The Cobra Trooper from that pack is one of my favorites, because it has the more cartoon accurate body, but with the head and helmet from the later POC Cobra Troopers. He also has a cartoon accurate gun.

The Cobra Commander in that pack is decent and comes with a parachute and a Claw that you can have your figures ride on.

The Duke in that set is sorta meh, but he comes with a cool jet pack for you to use on your Joes and an American Flag.
>>
Just picked up the red SDCC Jinx for $35, shipping included.

Never had her, only had the Retaliation version, but wanted her classic look also.

I also have a package coming with 50th Hawk in it and a Fang Copter with it's pilot.
>>

>Anyone got any thoughts about the Plague Troopers?

Best machete ever
>>
>>5667791
In theory, they are a "Psycho Rangers" type squadron of elite Cobra henchmen, (loosely) modeled after the founding 13 GI Joe members who were recruited from the ranks of the various Vipers, Trooper divisions alongside other new characters.

In practice? They are what >>5668266 said. They are Cobra Commander's personal wetworks team who are sent on missions where Cobra Commander wants people dead. And by dead, I mean people DIE when the Plague Troopers are deployed.

They are led by Blackout (evil brother to a new Joe introduced during Valor Vs Venom) and include Munitia (basically an evil counterpart to Scarlet, trained by Firefly alongside Blackout as his proteges), Guillotine (a former Snow Serpent/Eel), Aleph (a high ranking Night Creeper who was excommunicated), Nick Bailey (a generic black American soldier who CC personally recruited into the Plague Troopers for unknown reasons), the Interrogator, and a bunch of scrubs from the Saw Vipers, Sand Vipers, AVACs, Crimson Guard.

Rip It (HISS tank driver) and Sky Creeper (a Cobra Air Commando) were offered membership and went on the group's first mission (massacre an entire hospital, children included, in order to kidnap Baroness and Destro's kid) but were both executed by Cobra Commander because they had hesitated during the mission and openly questioned why they should kill innocent babies.

Ironically, while they have a Saw Viper on their roster (Gallows), it's not the infamous Saw Viper who killed a dozen GI Joe members in the early 90s (he became Overkill, a move that I'm sure Devil's Due regretted years later when they came up with the Plague Troop concept and couldn't use the guy for it).
>>
>>5670486

Half of the roster did get figures though o-ring figure only. Blackout was a mass retail release, as was Interrogator (who was later reissued in a six pack and later as a convention figure), Munitia was released as a DTC figure, while Guillotine, Grimskull (Sand Viper) and Gallows (SAW Viper) were part of a six pack with three named Steel Brigade guys.

Grimskull and Gallows look NOTHING like their comic counterparts (basically black recolors of their existing costumes); basically a bunch of Neo Vipers with a single new headsculpt between the two, with the only way to tell tem apart being that one has red pain on their black costume/mask and the other yellow paint on their black costume/mask.

The Steel Brigade/Plague Trooper box set is INSANELY hard to find as it was given a limited release at the end of the VvV line as a Toys R Us exclusive. While the Steel Brigade members and Gallows/Grimskull are kind of easy to find (though around $20-30 a piece), Guillotine is CRAY-CRAY hard to find and goes for huge bucks whenever he pops up on Ebay.

Just got the second wave of my HACKS order

Skeletons are great, even better than the ones from Re-Ment's Pose Skeleton line(I think anyways)
Stonefist is glorious, as are Eurayle and Amazon, but he's really the star of the three.
Pre-Curse Medusa uses a head that doesn't fit the back of her box's description of 'the once beautiful' and 'the most amazing'. But not bad either, I just think the Eurayle head is far better.
>>

>>
>>5670635
Their webstore has preorders up for all the ones I listed. Some preorders are sold out already though, and for the skeletons/blanks, they've got alternate color options available on the same page.
>>
>>5670496

It was really that hard to find? I don't remember it being harder to find than any others. In fact I remember the troop builder like the Shadow Guard being a bit harder to find.
>>
>>5670662

Do they ship outside of America and do they take paypal
>>
>>5670669
Shadow Guard was scalped hard but can still be found and at a decent price, as far as the fact that Hasbro produced a good amount of them after the initial Crimson Guard 6 pack sold out ASAP due to massive fan demand.

Steel Brigade vs Plague Troopers on the other hand, was given a microscopic production run and sold out immediately.
>>
>>5670672
They did out-of-US shipping in kickstarter, so maybe, paypal is available.
>>
>>5670679
Yeah; the Shadow Guard themselves only exist because of the huge demand for the original Crimson Guard troop builder pack. Same with Crimson Cobra Commander and Crimson Baroness repaints, who was created to go with the Crimson Guard when Hasbro finally decided to reissue them in proper colors.

Are any of the Valor vs Venom box sets worth picking up? Given how expensive the Sub Club figures and 2-3 packs are, I need something to scratch my Joe itch, especially since I never really paid much attention to the line during the early 00s revival.
>>
>>5671004
The 6 packs are hit or miss and a lot of them are re-issues of 80s/90s era figures in garrish new color schemes.

The troop builder sets are pretty ace if you are into that, with the Crimson Guard being the best of the best. They re-released them about three times: One a standard Crimson Guard pack of six, then the CG in black (The Shadow Guard), then in another pack with Tomax/Xamot in crappy suit bodies* along with Firefly

*For added fuck youism, they only included ONE of the twins in each pack, so to get BOTH of the Twins, you ended up having to buy two versions of the same army builder set. Meaning you end up with eight CGs and two Fireflys to get both Crimson Twins.

The Cobra Blueshirt set is pretty nice too. And if you are into Python Patrol, they did a Python Patrol set with PP Major Blood (Sonic Fighters version), Lamprey, and a bunch of 89-91 era Vipers (Heat, Saw, Laser, and Rock) in PP colors.
>>
>>5670672
I'm still waiting for my Jan preorder.
I guess they won't ship until done with all the backers.
>>
>>5671004

Best ones are the Crimson Guard sets; the CGs never got a normal release at retail as part of the '00-'06 JvC/VvV line and were only available in the multi-packs.

Unlike the Blueshirt troopers, Hasbro redid the Crimson Guard figures from scratch and they are amongst the best of the JvC/VvV molds. Granted they took some liberties; they all have unmasked heads (though with bandanna masks) and removable helmets and unlike the Cobra Troopers (who were redone with black, hispanic Troopers and with different hair colors). But they are pretty awesome figures worth owning, regardless if you get the OG colors or the lames as hell Shadow Guard recolors.

The other sets are hit and miss but contain a good number of vintage figures if you missed them at retail. The color schemes can be shitty but at least there is some inner consistency, in terms of each set having a theme (Urban Assault, Jungle Assault, Heavy Assault, Winter Assault, Night Force) to make them slightly more tolerable.

Jinx!
>>
>>5672016

It's an early 100s issue of G.I. Joe where several Joes get captured and the SAW Viper decides to kill them (Doc, Quick Kick are the two I remember who were important characters who got wasted).
>>
>>5672016
When Hama had to introduce/shill the Saw Vipers in the GI Joe comic, he had the introduction scene for the character/trooper class MURDER nearly a dozen name GI Joe members: Quick Kick, Breaker, Doc, Crankcase, Crazylegs, Thunder, and Heavy Metal.

The whole thing kicked off a Desert Storm-style storyline with Cobra conquering a Middle Eastern nation and the Saw Viper in question eventually got killed off, off-panel by Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes.

Devil's Due brought him back as Overkill, a newly created Cobra agent from the Joe Vs Cobra/Valor Vs Venom line during the second Cobra Civil War, where he was on Serpentor's side but switched at the end, after being maimed in an explosion. He was last seen being hauled off by Cobra, to have more of his body amputated/replaced with machinery after Snake Eyes defeated him/injured him some more and then refused to mercy kill him to spare the bastard from CC's science guys from replacing more of his flesh with robotics to make a more effective cyborg killing machine out of him.

As such, in GI Joe lore, Saw Vipers are Knights of Cerebus-style villains. They are not affected by Cobra's general incompetence and can/will kill GI Joe members if they encounter them. This makes them more or less the final boss of ALL of the Cobra goons, as even the Crimson Guard are seen as pussies compared to Saw Vipers

Scarlet's annoying and clingy and kind of a doormat

Cover Girl might be fun in that her background indicates she's ultra-conservative/red-pill and into blowing shit up and going to the gun range if you are into that sort of thing. Or not if you are a liberal.

Lady Jaye probably would be the best girl, but you'd have to deal with her being career minded and constantly on missions and such. Devil's Due had her retire from the field to become part of the top brass at GI Joe, so you might have more time to be with her. But at the very least, she would not tolerate your shit whereas with Scarlett, she constantly is playing the love martyr and letting Snake Eyes get away with crap that most men would get dumped for doing.

Jinx would be good but you'd have to deal with her being clumsy/unlucky and the fact that as her boyfriend, you'd be targeted by the Red Ninjas and Firefly for death

Daemon would be fun in that shes the most down to earth of the women but she's a hacker so she'd probably be more interested in talking tech than say sports or other shit normal people with social lives get into, plus there is the whole angst shit where she watched Serpentor murder her male best friend right before her eyes.

Fuck the old O-Ring Joes.

They suck and quite frankly, you'd be better off just paying extra for the 25/POC/50th Anny figures. Any character/design of value was done in that line anyway, so you aren't missing shit buying the O-Ring figures.

Not really interested in Medusa. The lack of bicep swivels is a disappointment and is the only thing preventing me from ordering any of the non-snake-tailed HACKS.

Also, has there been any news to restock the armor sets or am I just sol?

Okay, I'm pretty sure you meant thigh or ankle swivel, not 100% though.
>>

I only want it to be Tiger Force Jinx if she has a new unmasked head sculpt. Otherwise it's kinda pointless since we already have 5 Jinx figures if you count the Vypra repaint. So producing another without a new unmasked version like her movie look would be a waste of a FSS figure.

There's also a possibility it'll be Steel Raven since she's in the club mag now. She'd be perfect to go with Iron Klaw.

Anyone got a cheat sheet type thing for the military branches of the GI Joe guys?

I know Leatherneck, Gung Ho and freaking Mainframe of all people are Marines

Wet Suit and Shipwreck are Navy, with Wet Suit a SEAL

Dial Tone, Snake Eyes, Stalker, and Beachhead are Army Rangers

Cutter is Coast Guard

Duke, Hawk, Scarlet, Doc, Roadblock, Rock and Roll, Tunnel Rat, Lowlight, Lifeline, Bazooka, Footloose, Cover Girl, Dusty, and most of the Joes in general are generic army

Ace, Wild Bill, Lift Ticket are Air Force

Flint and Lady Jaye are CIA
>>
>>5676570
Flint and Lady Jaye, IIRC, are Army special intelligence.

As for Mainframe,He was originally supposed to be army but the design team decided to make him a Marine at the last minute just because.

Larry Hama was pissed off, because he had to rewrite the file card bio, so rather than do so, he tossed in a couple of sentences amounting to "Mainframe retired from the Army Airborne and got so bored with working in Nerd City, that he decided to join the Marines as a midlife crisis solution."

It's odd to me, but the older I get the more I appreciate and enjoy the vintage Joes. I mean, for their time these were pretty awesome action figures and they still have so much charm and character. I got these two in a lot on eBay for like $5 and I love them. Apparently Voltar originally came with a vulture, and it's a shame he doesn't have it, but I love them both all the same.

Man, if Reaction had had this kind of vintage articulation I would have been all over it.
>>
>>5680845
They do have certain charm to them, I agree.
>>
>>5680991

Some of the designs work better in the classic form. OG Vipers, Anhiliators (who were frankensteined and lost all of their original charm and fetish appeal), Thunder, Firefly, Serpentor, the second version of Rock and Roll, Leatherneck, Heavy Metal, for instance.

Anyone think a return to the O-Ring figure design might be a way to save GI Joe?

Say what you will about them, but I'm sure they are cheaper to make than the 25th Anny style figures. Plus they have the nostalgia that the super-duper gimped figures we got with the Retaliation vehicles lacked, to blind people of their flaws.

Plus you have the angle of them recycling the Valor vs Venom concept of all figures being put out as two packs. That way, you can get more bang for your buck.

Nope.

GI Joe just needs to be in the movies and the product shouldn't fuck over the stores when holding it for over a year without the movie marketting behind it.
They canceled stuff like this for the movie, so there was nothing to push sales for nearly a year.

Movies launch cartoons all the time, which increases merch sales.

Hasbro had the right idea with Rise of Cobra and launching Renegades afterward, but being on the Hub that few people have access to was dumb. The Hub in general was inherently shit, since you really can't grow the audience with a niche base, as opposed to actually being mass market numbers by being on Cartoon Network or Nickelodean.

Everyone assuming Transformers but honestly I don't see how Joes could work in a transformers movie. I know they had lot of colaborations through years in comics but a movie? I just can't see it happen. There is no way Transformers would not make Joes look completly pointless.

And which other franchises Hasbro has that could add to mix? M.A.S.K? I guess is the one that makes more sense but they have even less fans than Joes.

May be I'm just short sighted but I can't see any of that working, it would be more easy to mix them with Marvel licenses than with their own licenses.

They snuck Renegades Zartan into the Retaliation line. The only hope is a new movie.

Rise of Cobra leg to newer and better sculpts and articulation and continued over into Pursuit of Cobra, which was intended to be a movie line, but was tweaked so they didn't have to spend money on likenesses.

Had Retaliation been the first movie and been able to be looked at on it's own merit without being saddled with the baggage that it was a sequel to Rise of Cobra( a bag movie), more people would have probably given it a chance and the brand could have grown more then with another sequel.
>>
>>5686732
MASK already crossed over with GI Joe during the 25th line, when they put out the Specialist Trakker figure.

Trakker is often viewed as the person who makes the crazy and weird vehicles the Joes use. MASK also fights Venom, and organization that according to his file card is part of Cobra.

Most people assume to make the franchises mix, that Trakker adapted Transformer technology for human use.
>>
>>5687642
The Tracker figure was widely acclaimed and people were begging for a VENOM guy (Sly Raxx) to go along with Matt. But Hasbro flat out refused to do so, to such an extent that you had freaking TOYFARE offering up a custom figure recipe for making your own custom Sly Raxx figure to sate fan demand.
>>

When I saw the first two transformer movies, the surviving soldiers looked a lot like Joes, specially in the second where they are like a special branch that works with them.

Not sure if this is the right thread (This is 3"/1:18 general right?) but are the Evangelion Microman figures any good? They seem to be pretty cheap on eBay and are the only poseable figures of the original Eva characters in their school uniforms.
>>
>>5689241
I only have the plugsuit version of Rei, but she's excellent. Just don't be too rough. I'd imagine the skirt on the school uniform version would limit the poseability slightly.
>>
>>5689270
Aye, I have heard Micromen are pretty fragile. Some of the shots I've seen of Rei and Asuka make them look a little derpy but I wonder if that's just shitty photography.

For what it's worth if I had the resources/time/money/skill I'd totally make a 3"/1:8 Eva line featuring the entire cast (including "non-canon" figures like plugsuit versions of Touji, Hikari and Kensuke) and a bunch of little "playsets" to display them in (so NERV command centre, Misato's apartment, Terminal Dogma etc).

Depending on what you're mixing them with, they'll be fine. I picked up a lot of the Microman anime/comic figures. As long as you don't ham hands them, they hold up very well. I've done Joe and MU without issue as background people.

The only Microman figures you need to watch out for are those with clear plastic.
The other plastics seem fragile, because of how light they feel, but they can tolerate abuse.

I set up a little battle with my old custom main team of VvV and Spytroops joes vs 25th cobra troopers and night watch.

Duke = Desert Humvee driver Duke with Recondo's lower arms.
Flint = Pilot Twin head from the crimson copter, "tiger force" Alpine Torso, Duke lower arms (love them) and Beachead's legs and crotch. Beret from one of the Flint disguise from Zartan or Agent Faces.
Stalker = Stalker head, Alpine torso and arms, Roadblock's crotch and legs. Modified the hands so they could swivel.
Tunnel Rat = tunnel rat's head, Mecha driver Leatherneck's, lower arms and legs, Zarana uper arms, Crosshairs torso. He's really Manlet looking.
Crosshairs = Only modified the hands with some 21stcentury guy so he could have swivel motion.
Leatherneck = My favorite. Leatherneck head, torso and upper arms, Duke lower arms, Crosshairs legs. He Looks like a really young Duke.
Gung-Ho = Only vanilla Joe. He is a really good figure.

Joe fans tend to have five minute memories. I was lucky and got the Matt Trakker Figure right before the shitstorm hit 7.00 bucks was a huge leap in joe prices then but damn was it worth it.

M.A.S.K., ROM, Visionaries, Micronauts along with Joe can work in a shared universe. since these guys mostly deal with human characters it's not that hard to think of some way to merge them. hell I let my Autism out in full force and created an outline of events the HCU when I heard about it. they all fit but most joe fans are shitty at puzzles.

In a comic book antything can work in a shared universe (or different universes meeting each other). In a cartoon is something that can work too.

Now movies are clompetly different media, since you only have ONE movie two hours each few days and the range of audiences it have to please is lot more big.

Splurged on Star Wars 3.75" figures. Phasma's hard to find but local store had a "promotion bundle" of buying either Leia+Phasma or Han Solo+Phasma (guess which I chose)

Here's a shot of them with Resolute CC and Super Combat Cap.

One thing nice about Phasma is that she has those PoC rifle-holding wrists. Right hand goes up-down, left goes in-out so she can do rifle poses with her cutesy little blaster. Though, hips are the annoying kind with the peg pointing up, not into the side.

Hopefully she becomes easier to acquire. She works well as, i dunno, Cobra Shiny Guard? Like Crimson Guard, but shiny? Can you imagine how bright the room would be when both Cobra Commander and her are in it?

I think the best reason to like O-Ring Joes is the sheer variety. There's far more characters and styles and variations of the same figure to suit your tastes. There's also all sorts of crazy enemies, such as mutants and zombies and aliens, and even ancient civilizations and drug dealers for your Joes to go up against. Not to mention there was play sets; at least 4 that I'm aware of just for your Cobras to use, including the Terror Drome.

My only issue with them is it's damn near impossible to find minty figures at a decent price. Kids frequently beat the shit out of these toys.

>>5694217

They used that body a few times. It's better than than version 1's body, particularly with his big red collar.

I'm looking to get an '82/83 version 1.5 Cobra Commander in fairly minty condition but it's damn near impossible at a good price. Every calls theirs "near mint" despite that their CC might have his paint scratched the fuck up on his dome or elsewhere. How the fuck is that near mint?
>>
>>5694253
>Kids frequently beat the shit out of these toys

Causalities are just a nature of war. How I lost my Mobile Command Center as a kid because Cobra refused to let the Joes keep it after they had gotten the codes for the Rolling Thunder nuke missiles.
>>
>>5694266
Yeah, I love the bulk and range of movement of that Destro body. And that tall collar is killer.

I bought a second of that Voltar that came with his vulture just because I really liked that figure once I had it in hand. I'm gonna use the head and accessories from the first to make a modern Voltar since he's only ever gotten a fss figure.

And you've definitely got to look at the pictures close when buying vintage despite how "mint" the seller says it is.
>>

>>
>>5694470
She's scheduled for November, and they showed a 50th style file card and said she's a Toys R US exclusive, so she's a two pack obviously. It'd be unlikely for her to be single carded and the only Joe figure, which is what everyone's reading into this. It'd be bad business to release a single carded Joe that nobody, not even Joe fans have heard of with no other figures in that shipment.

So, odds are we're getting her along with maybe some of the other unreleased concept case figures, like the Laser Viper.

And another question to ask, is if we'll get any vehicles? We got them with the past two 50th waves, so there ought to be. And so, we'll probably get some new two pack figures, and maybe some two pack vehicles again, along with some drivers.

It was a novelty plus Valor Vs Venom had gotten rather dog shit at the time with a huge glut of new characters/Cobra troops no one gave a fuck about and some disastrous new molds for existing characters (Vipers, Alley Vipers, the OG Dreadnocks, Baroness, Beachhead).

But the novelty wore off pretty much as soon as the line hit shelves and you had nothing but Duke/Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow at retail AND the added bullshit of Sigma Six being the centerpiece of Hasbro's suicidal plan to make Duke the face of the franchise and giving him pretty much 10-12 figures, ALL of which shelf-warmed.

I have to think that Hasbro should offer Wal-Mart a sweetheart line in terms of re-issues or at the very least, box sets.

Basically 2-4 box sets of rare/hard to find characters still not with a wide release or were JoeCon/SubClub releases.

Dial Tone, Zaranna, Claymore, the Ultimate Duke/Sightline troop builder, a PROPER Night Viper in Proper colors, Billy, Big Boa, Zombie Viper, Cover Girl, etc with one or two name characters tossed in (Renegades Storm Shadow, Jungle Duke, Moneybags Destro, Ninja Force Snake Eyes, etc)
>>
>>5696658
A couple of 5-7 figure box sets would work well though I have to think that what Wal-Mart considers "desirable" would clash considerably with what Hasbro and fans would consider "desirable".
>>
>>5696670
I wonder how Wal Mart would feel with a hastily put together Zombie vs GI Joe box set? Stick some rare figures in there (Dial Tone, Cover Girl, Renegades Storm Shadow) and a couple of Zombie Vipers and it would sell very well.
>>
On a side note; was wondering, do any other GI Joes have family? Like spouses or children?

I mean, I know there is Marrisa Fairbourne (Flint and Lady Jaye's kid) and one of the guys from COPS is supposed to be Beachhead's bastard, but anyone else have kids or spouses and shit? Or does GI Joe have a "no family" policy where if you marry or have kids, you get forced off the team?
>>
>>5696780
The comics have had several characters with wives and kids. Wet Suit, Spirit, and Hawk in particular have wives and kids (IIRC Hawk's kid eventually became a member of GI Joe).
>>
>>5696216

Seriously though, there's a lot of truth in that. Most of Joes problems are cultural. We (in the broad, general sense) aren't "America, fuck yeah!" anymore.

Sigma 6 is what made me quit collecting at the time, because I was more into the older style, O-ring Joes and liked collecting the VvV stuff. The fact that they weren't 3 3/4 and therefore weren't compatible completely killed the line for me in the same way GI Joe Extreme did for the same reasons.

I didn't get back into collecting until about 2 years ago when I finally decided that I was going to get into the Modern Era figures.
>>
>>5697502

I honestly don't know what started me collecting Joes. my gf and I started watching the series about 4 years ago and that led to the comics and the figures. Actually got a zombie in the wild - and bought another but damn that's all for those.

If the head sits low, you can pop a tiny bit of paper or plastic bag in the cavity to give it a little lift.

Sometimes it helps give a little extra wiggle room for the head too.

I hope they take the marvel route and establish a world first before they go whole hog in to it ROM crashing on earth and recruiting the Joes, MASK, Micronauts to stop the Dire Wraiths could work. if done right. but Mostly I'm just looking forward to seeing new toylines on shelves.

A Group of Military Operators that turn in to a superhero group is straight up what Modern Joe should be plus Genji, Soldier 76, and Reaper/Reyes are basically Snake-eyes, Duke and Shipwreck. so yeah once again someone else does joe better than Hasbro.
>>5693299
Nope I'm glad that died. I'm talking about reporting that Joe was dead again even through there was multiple reports of atleast a third wave of 50th figures coming out this year. I pointed out that they did the same "No Joe Line Ded" schtick two years in a row and got yelled at by a Mod. Fun.
>>5694261
>>5694470
From what my sources are telling me is that we are getting a third wave 50th and the rumored big set is a re-sculpted or a re released Rattler.
NEXT YEAR we have a new Mainstream Joe line coming that is going to be a bridge in to the Hasbro Universe. Now this stuff is liquid but so far has been right.

THIS.

I'd punch a baby for Joe-scale Overwatch figures. I want Genji, Reinhardt, Soldier 76, Pharah, Bastion and Zenyatta. But too bad Funko has the license.

>>
>>5706399
New animated series in the works also, so another 50th line would be imperative to keep the brand alive in the build up.

I hope the new figures go more Sci-Fi like the 90's figures; sending them into space and fighting mutants and ninjas and high-tech drug dealers.
>>
In my quest to get back into o-ring I dusted off my old Joes from storage and working on building up a little army.

Currently have 6 of the 2004 Cobra Infantry Troopers from when I bought the troop build up pack(one of my last Joe purchases before I quite collecting).

I have 4 2006, version 15A Vipers waiting to be delivered in the mail.

I have a version 4 Overkill also coming in the mail.

Of other other Joes I picked up, I have the 2005 comic three pack version of Scarlett as well as Duke, Roadblock, and Destro from the same three packs.

Lastly I found I have 3 Headhunter Stormtroopers that were sitting in storage, so I may buy a couple Headhunters to pad them out. For some reason with the vintage style Joes I don't feel as obligated to troop build very hard. 3 or 4 of a figure feels like more than enough. I just wish I could find all my weapons for these guys. I seem to have misplaced the weapons for 90% of the Joes I had in storage. sigh...

For me this is ideal, any more than 5 is cumbersome and while it looks impressive to have 100+ of one figure in the end it is pointless.

If Hasbro does a new subscription service along the lines of matty collector, what would you guys want from it?

Honestly the only thing that might get me to bite on something like that(especially at the prices they'd likely charge) would be if they started doing Joe-style figures from all the franchises they're starting to merge. New Joes along with Joe-style MASK etc figures.

Really what I want is more members of Cobra Command. Where the fuck is my modern era Overlord? I also want more troop builders so my Iron Klaw can have some guys for his army instead of being literally the only member of his organization. There's also some serious need for Headhunters and other 90's Joes. There was plenty of good figures and ideas in the 90's era that gets shafted because it wasn't what the 80's kids grew up with and it's more Sci-Fi.

A modern Mega Marines Gung-Ho for example will probably never happen, nor will we ever get a Bio-Viper for him to hunt down like Xenomorphs. It's like they hate fun.
>>
>>5711128

Did they ever release an old-school version of the Toxo-Viper? I know ones Cesspool used got made as a con exclusive. But I don't seem to recall these versions ever getting made?

I want updated Thunder Machine for my Dreadnoks. Or something Dreadnok related for them to ride in.

Seems to me many of the GI Joe fans hated that they were doing stuff like Hydro Vipers and Alley Vipers, and other sci-fi-y figures, but most fans still liked the newer designs.
The switch to MEGAMARINES AND NINJA FORCE turned off practically all GI Joe fans.

GI Joe always appealed to me to have that sci-fi-feeling and even having ninjas, but it went full retard with the megashits, spacemarines, and ninjas, and that isnt appealing anymore.
>>
>>5711855

Joe fans tend to have a very odd cut and dry line where Joe stops being Joe. Teal shirtless Marine popping Blue pajama wearing minions. thats Joe as fuck

That same Marine in at the time cutting edge battle armor fighting Armored urban troops.....Fucking Neon Baby shit.

it's fucking dumb and is why the line hasn't evolved.

Also from Hasbro Pulse a crossword puzzle that when solved right will have the names for the 18 figures (plus an SDCC exclusive) we will be getting this year. The drought is almost over.

but power armor was always part of GI Joe and well liked.

I think most of the worst they said about stuff like this was that it was too much like ExoSquad.
And thats really part of why most fans don't want to see them going out to space or being a ninja force, because it's not really what GI Joe was about and more like X.
Make another series instead of pigeonholing an established series into something else.
>>
>>5712575
but look at what we got from those sublines great characters and concepts that if they had been in more traditional colors would have sold like gangbusters. I'm just saying Cobra and Joe had laser weapons, stealth tech, drones and stuff Having them go to space if done right could be amazing

Cobra has a moonbase.... Run with it.
>>
>>5712658
Just ask for Inhumanoids back if you want MEGAMARINES or whatever space thing Hasbro has if you want space stuff.

GI Joes already does scifiy stuff, and we've had drones out the ass for years and years and years.
Stop trying to pigeonhole it into whatever you want just because you liked whatever was the highlight of your childhood collection.

I prefer the original look more. A good balance of pajamas and armor, for a modern ninja look.

The armored ones look too sleek and i guess it worked with the Versus line, since they were doing a lot of futuristic designs.
