May building challenges:
>make your own Dimensions team based off of a new franchise
>create a new Music star/act for Legovision 2016, also include any instruments or stage props, and don't forget an awesome name
>wasn't there also something about animal vehicles
>build a vehicle or fleet worthy of riding into Valhalla, shiny and chrome
>greeble: remake any set or build something with an absurd amount of greebling
>build a mighty micro vehicle (any surface type)
>can may be mini moc madness month: spaceship edition? yes it can
>build a brick-built animal!
>make a stop-motion / multi-frame animation

There's a bunch of parts like that. Leaked prototypes, custom colors for LUGs, maybe some others. White visors in this pic are an example.

I've been tinkering around with this "junkyard" theme on ships from Star-Wars, said junkers use a variety of parts from other ships to make these things work again. What do you guys think?

Mah nigga! He and his main man jawson are some of my favorite minifigs of all time.
>>
To whoever recommend getting the Parisian restaurant set yesterday, you sure as fuck were right.
The build is a bliss and the final result is maximum comfy.
The only things I could want would be at least another minifg since it's three stories high, plus three separate outdoor areas and can feel kinda empty depending on how you look at it; also the entrance, right behind the door of the 3rd floor painters studio is completely bare and could benefit from at least a sink or something.
I mean how is that girl going to wash her brushes?

>>

I have it, I love it.

Only real flaws are that it's technically only half of the platform and some of the play features are a bit pointless. Could maybe use some other figs too, but I'm not complaining.

And Boba has an angry clone-face which is hilarious

Nah, her whole god damn body, it's basic hygiene, you just got dealt a bad hand then.

Also I'm making progress on the bank, it's breddy gud, the nexo knight shield things make for a superb tiled floor.

It's hard to pull off in lego because it's already difficult to make something not just look like a pile of parts even with a matching color scheme. These in general just seen like a child finding instructions to a model they don't have so they try and make them out of the limited parts they do have. not very impressive.

They had these for $3 Cdn apiece, I got the Mandalorian commando who for some reason has a microbuild snowspeeder.

I'm an anon from the previous thread.
I just started getting into Lego again lately and bought a bunch of sets pretty randomly, just to see what sticks.
I have the Bank and the Restaurant and they're pure fucking awesomeness: to build, to move around, to look at and brag.
You get lots of weird pieces in rare colors and lots of crazy designs when it comes to the details.
They're truly inspiring sets and I kinda wish I could have had them when I was a kid: they fill all the needs I had for livable interiors, details made out of unusual pieces and playability.
If you have the money lying around, I say go for it.

>In the pis with the vivid glow, are you using any lighting besides the blacklight?

In the guide, the vivid shots are taken with two UV bulbs and the room's regular ceiling light. You can use more regular light if you want a more muted glowing effect; depending on your camera's ability to meter, the glowing pieces will still be visibly brighter even with lots of visible bounce light.

The downside of this is that the stuff behind the glowing parts is more obscured, because there's less difference in brightness between the glowing parts and non-glowing surroundings.

If you really want to get crazy, rig up some small, tight lights that let you illuminate certain areas with visible light and others with UV light.

And here's the catalog of UV-reactive pieces that I've assembled so far. It's fairly safe to say that every trans-neon green, trans-neon orange, and trans-medium blue piece will glow. Other pieces must be taken on a case-by-case basis. Anyway...

01:
Flowers are trans-medium blue 4728
Popsicle is tran-med blue 30222

02:
Clikits008: Trans-Neon Yellow Clikits Bead, Ring Thick Small Double with 2 Pins (AKA RADIOACTIVE CARTOON MEAT)
Clikits004: Trans-Neon Yellow Clikits Icon, Flower 10 Petals 2 x 2 Small with Pin
Clikits020: Trans-Neon Yellow
Clikits Icon, Flower 10 Petals 2 x 2 Large with Pin

03:
trans-neon green 4589 Cone 1 x 1 without Top Groove (top) glows the bright greenish-teal like most trans-neon green pieces
Trans-neon green 4589b Cone 1 x 1 with Top Groove glows with a less intense and obviously more green light.
Trans-neon green 10178 and 10178pb02 Rock 1 x 2 Crystal Stepped
Trans-neon orange transparent chainsaw
Trans-neon green stud
Trans-neon orange stud
Trans-neon green 58176 Light Cover with Internal Bar / Bionicle Barraki Eye
Trans-neon orange flames, both with and without side pins
Trans-neon orange 64647 Minifig, Plume Feather Triple Compact / Flame / Water

04:
Trans-neon green 98348 Minifig, Weapon Whip Bent with Snake Head / Dildo and Pin Hole
Trans-neon green and trans-bright green 30374 Bar 4L (Lightsaber Blade / Wand)

05:
32271: Trans-Neon Green Technic Liftarm 1 x 9 Bent (7 - 3) Thick
32271: Trans-Neon Orange Technic Liftarm 1 x 9 Bent (7 - 3) Thick

Trans-neon orange 6120 Minifig, Utensil Ski with Hinge
Yellow 2496 Wheel Skateboard / Trolley
Trans-neon orange x42 Minifig, Visor with Horizontal Slit and Antenna
Trans-neon green 2447 Minifig, Visor Standard
Trans-neon green 2412 Tile, Modified 1 x 2 Grille with Bottom Groove / Lip
The opaque yellow trolley wheels don't exactly "glow" like the trans pieces, but they are obviously somewhat reactive.

Red CMF S5 Woodsman x2
Red CMF S11 Mountain Climber
Red torso with red arms
Red S13 Female Samurai
Dark red S14 Zombie Pirate
Red S2 Lifeguard
Red CMF S5 Woodsman
Red S2 Lifeguard
Arms may not be originals

08:
From top left:

Non-reactive red 3678a Slope 65 2 x 2 x 2 Smooth without Bottom Tube
CMF S4 Kimono Girl red 3678b Slope 65 2 x 2 x 2 Smooth with Bottom Tube
CMF S14 Specter Trans-clear 19859pb03 Lower Body, Ghost with Marbled Dark Bluish Gray Pattern
CMF S14 Banshee 19859pb02 Trans-clear Lower Body, Ghost with Marbled Sand Green Pattern
Red 41879 Legs short
CMF Zombie pirate legs
You can't really tell in this picture but the dark red parts of the zombie legs react the same as the torso.

And here's a graph that explains why this happens, I guess.

Gonna go to Virginia Beach the day after tomorrow. Should I bring my Sig Fig and take pics of him at my favorite places there? I've seen some of you guys do it.

I'm also thinking of getting the Camaro Drag Race. I saw one guy make the rear wheels on the '69 model sensibly sized, while still giving that general suped-up muscle car look. Did her ever make a tutorial on that? I don't want to rip him off and make the exact same thing he did, I just want smaller wheels without having to totally gut the thing. I think it was pic related.

So there's a particular train set available on eBay for relatively low price for what it is.. I'm considering buying it.

The kicker is, the listing says many of the pieces are glued together.

Can it be saved? Should I step up to the task?
>>
>>5664534
>You'd be surprised. It's actually just a trans-green, like the studs used on traffic lights.
In my experience it won't glow, but then again the two CMF ghost legs seem to glow because of the colored dye, not the polycarbonate. Changes in production materials might result in a lot more pieces becoming UV reactive in the future.
>>
>>5664570
Huh, that's odd. He does look trans-light/fluorescent green on the package, but he's just trans-green in person. I thought it was a manufacturing error, but looking up both Slimers, from the Fun Pack and the Firehouse, the Firehouse Slimer is trans-light/fluorescent green with a different print... Guess that's for the sake of variety.

It's hard, but not impossible. Is it glued using Official Lego Kragle, or Super Glue, or hot glue?

I know the kind of Kragle Lego uses gets pretty easy to pull apart when soaked in water at 160F/61C. GET A THERMOMETER. And something to pull them out with. The water won't quite burn you, but it's not real comfortable to stick your hands in.

Listing doesn't say. I assume worst-case super glue power.

Fuck it. I want it bad enough. If I can't take it apart without destroying, I'll live with it.
>>
>>5664591
The quinjet is pretty cool. It has a back hatch that folds down, however it's essentially a door to a wall. Moding it would take some work, but you could probably fit in a good cargo section and/or some seats without the gun housing as it really should be. I do like how the gun does slide up and tuck away as it is though, so I'll lazily keep mine as is.

Oddly, it's this set that really sparked my desire to jump back into the hobby. I guess once you break spending just $30 a year on a small set things go down the slope pretty fast. That and my other hobbies are getting excessively expensive with less time to spend on them.
>>
>>5664598
Go for it. I've got a couple of store displays (Don't tell Lego, but our vendor is awesome), and I've been working bit-by-bit on unKragling them. There are some pieces that it hasn't worked too well on, but it's fun experimenting.

Hopefully you'll get a small build to test on first.

>Nice use of roller skates for the eyes. Are these yours?
Yeah, about a year and a half ago, the Brikwars forums got a bit crazy with crossing LDD Microspace Battles and Evangelion...
I don't remember if that basic frame was original or not, this picture it certainly wasn't, but I knew when I saw the studs on the underside of the skates that they'd make great Unit 2 eyes.
>>
>>5665090
Top of the spigot under the hole of the SNOT piece and have the nozzle face away from the stud, then put the nocs on so that the bigger end is facing either side. I mean no wrong way to do it it should sit flush.

Thank you!

I also reworked the pylons and back but now the proportions are too curvy.

I wish they'd make new Harry Potter sets, what with the spinoff movie coming out.

One more. Now it can slouch forward with its chest. I might have to make it taller again to compensate for its hands.

But what's the second suit supposed to be? I thought you'd originally wanted a Guncannon or GM type suit, but it's got actual eyeballs and a V-fin. Keep it up, anyways.

>>5665165
I'm just gonna say that if you want those legs to bend on those 1x1 round balljoints without pushing the plates they're sitting on away you're going to have to add some 1x1 round studs.
>>
>>5665177
There is actually less friction on the stud to stud connection of the maxifig hand than the balljoint, so it pivots along that axis instead.

True, but I was mainly bringing it up because the female joints on the guy's EVA's legs are arrayed such that he gets much less flexibility out of them.

On an unrelated note, I don't get Evangelion. Perhaps it's because I haven't watched it, but have watched a wide medley of other mecha shows.

I like it

also, weren't you going to do something with those clip pieces near the engine thrusters?
>>
>>5665195
I would say go watch it.

But keep in mind that the mechas aren't the main focus there.

What is your thoughts of yellow vs fleshie?
and where can I get an official lego cleaver for my biker custom?
>>
>>5665200
Don't really care. I prefer yellow, and don't really feel like mixing them if I build something, but my SW fig collection with fleshies is cool too.
>>
>>5665200
I think there was a blindbag butcher figure that came with one.

Butcher, CMF Series 06.

Also, I don't mind fleshie, I think it's reasonable to expect realistic skin colors in licensed sets. My only problem with it is that sometimes the plastic doesn't match up with their skin tone (ie. SW Clones and Fetts should have the Medium Nougat color, but always use Nougat).

For MOCs that aren't connected to licenses, I still use yellow.

I should, but I keep on feeling like I'm already set up to dislike it.

Call it bad taste but I feel like my experience would be warped by it being a "babby's first" anime, a casual fling. Like, I've watched and am watching 70's anime, 80's and 90's stuff, and would like to delve into what I can of manga of those eras as well, and alongside that cartoons and comics from all over but for all that I feel like I'd be doing myself some kind of disservice by watching EVA. Same deal for something like TTGL or FLCL; I feel like there's something hanging in the air about them that makes me feel like I'd be doing something low.

I need to put this attitude away and watch EVA eventually, because it's a toxic attitude, but do I really want to watch EVA when I could be watching Patlabor or Mazinger or Daitarn?

Does Lego do a helmet in that shade of teal?

Fleshie arms, pink sleeveless jumper...possibly difficult.

I swapped the thighs and calves, now the thighs are m/f and the calves are f/f. I don't remember why I thought it had to be the other way around. That also lets me add jointed ankles. I'll use the new nexo knight ball/bar piece for some feet

Can someone explain to me the difference between Nougat, Medium Nougat, Flesh (not Light Flesh), and Medium Dark Flesh? The way I see these used I feel like at least some of them are synonyms, but I'm not sure which.

I'm interested to see it too, I was not on /toy/ these last weeks.

Guess what, we have variable thrusters!

Starting to look a bit V-gundam-ish
>>
>>5665390
they clearly get faster toward the end, or at the very least more smooth, which is a good thing. overall it felt slow for a race but the little backround stuff was nice. i just wish the people moved a little, other than say one horse or snail and a static crowd. like when green spins out into the wall near a crowd, they all just watch as they near death

>overall it felt slow for a race

It could have been the song I chose, maybe I should have picked something a little faster paced.

ngl I envy the amount of buildings you have even if they're just sets.
