I understand it's Bandai cashcow but I love the RD line because other series that would almost never get merchandise get a chance for some figures. It's just really disheartening to see Gundam getting more merchandise when it already has a ton. Especially when it's shit like the Gundam or Zakus that already have dozens of plamo and figures.
>>
>>5591214
Yes, because we should get the horrifically outdated RDs so some obscure thing can get some merch that'll shelfwarm at Master Asia levels

You are aware you are wanting a company that exists to make money to risk said money on making something that they could make little or no return on right?

Lots of shit I would love to get figures of but since those franchises don't have the fanbase size of something like Gundam, It's not gonna happen.

Both of these people are complete morons. Not only do tons of different Mecha shows get merchandise, but even this specific line is packed with non-gundam mecha franchise releases. You people come off as so ridiculously whiny when we're getting something as cool as the Sirbine. Or hell, the Hi-Metal R line is essentially Macross Robot Damashii, just reinforced with metal so they don't snap like a toothpick when they transform. That line is even getting bullshit huge Destroids like the Monster and enemy units to boot. There is every likelihood that they may come through with those Patlabor figures as well. Its just so ridiculous to be complaining that its all Gundam when there are active releases every month that aren't.

Nice Robot Damashii-ish size. They managed to make a nearly perfect transformation VF-1 in a small scale and without it feeling janky and wibble wobbly. Its some of the most amazing engineering and design I've ever seen on a figure honestly.

Not him, but no one is telling to like real robots. That poster just pointed out the fact that the RD line is not only about Gundam--sure Gundam gets the most releases but other series have gotten quite a bit of attention (L-Gaim, Dunbine, Fafner, FMP, etc.). And for Macross we have the Hi-Metal R line.

Chill out, brochacho.
>>
>>5595563
That's what I suspected.

It was never my cup of tea but I know there is vocal minority of G Gundam fans in the US.
>>

http://imgur.com/a/AEktl
>>
>>5595590
That debate is spurred on by one guy, though.
>>
>>5596218

Honestly, when Tamashii makes it so difficult to obtain certain items in the US or refuses to do reissues on items that sold out almost immediately, I'm honestly happy that bootlegs can occasionally be a side option. Buyer beware of course.

I mean, is there really any reason why US Customers can't pre-order webshop exclusives and have them shipped here to the US just like we can do with Goodsmile? There isn't. Its literally all because "muh nippon".
>>
>>5595563
You might be right about G Gundam not being popular (it sure seemed like it was at the time), but the shitty way they handled the toys for Gundam at the time is not necessarily proof of the lack of popularity of G Gundam. The shelves were crammed full of Windmills and Mermaids, even fans of G Gundam don't want Windmill or Mermaid. Except me. I fucking love the Nether Gundam, I have one sitting on my desk. Regardless, back then there was an over-supply of shitty designs no one wanted.
>>
>>5596283
>I mean, is there really any reason why US Customers can't pre-order webshop exclusives and have them shipped here to the US just like we can do with Goodsmile? There isn't. Its literally all because "muh nippon".
this, I would've saved so much money and heartache by ordering direct instead of using proxy sites like nippon yassan.
>>

>>

gundam sold really well tilll the shelfwarmer waves, literally thousands of windmills, jesters, bulls, and mermaids.

G gundam was also not curently airing at the time, it was some shit show like seed, while regular gundam got bad ratings and was being censored to hell. By the time they rerleasesd the good suits and the battledamaged line, it was too late.

I wish gundam had a renaissance in the states, wouldn't be hard to do. Closest thing to g that's around now is the gundam build fighters episodes.

>>
>>5600475

>>
>>5595979
>That poster just pointed out the fact that the RD line is not only about Gundam
This used to be true but not anymore. This line is now 80% Gundam and that's lame.
>>
>>5600579
generating random percentage numbers isn't going to do anything.
Beside they can release whatever they feel will make them the most profit, there's nothing you can do other than to buy or no to buy. Let say your 80% is true and you hate gundam. well guess what?, there's 20% of something that you might like. That's much better than 0%.
Oh, they are only releasing Gundam after Gundam, but not anything I want., no problem just don't buy it., When they do release something that you want , buy it.
Just because you don't like gundam doesn't mean other don't like it too, and many times it's the profit from those same Gundams that will give Green light on other RD projects thats not gundam.
>>
>>5600475
Bandai of America killed Gundam in the USA. They forgot all about how to sell and market Gundams, it's almost like Hasbro and other US toy companys don't want Bandai in the USA market.
All they have to do is follow the simple formula.
Run Gundam Anime show/series, release related Merchandise.
>>
>>5600607
Not him, but I honestly can't see Gundam ever being as popular in the west as it is in Japan regardless of market circumstances because Gundam as a franchise relies almost exclusively on UC nostalgia (specifically Early UC nostalgia) for its foundation and cashflow.

Even popular AU shows like SEED or Wing are never given ongoing support by Sunrise/Bandai for the simple reason that they are designed to funnel new fans into the UC. That's why efforts so far to introduce Gundam to the west, that has no cultural reference for the original show, have been failures. The support simply isn't there to nurture a growing fanbase.
>>
>>5600708
Just to add to this conversation
I remember a couple of years ago on that TV channel called SyFy or SciFi (before they changed the named to the former)
How they would air 00 and Gurren Lagann at the pretty awkward time slots and a pretty odd day of the week, so it was kinda hidden
I feel like the same would happen again
>>
>>5600708
>>5600752

There's really no place for Gundam series to get popular in the US. Maybe Netflix?Even so the problem is drowned out by the amount of content on their.

Gundam needs to reach an audience of older kids/younger teenagers to really sustain itself as far as merchandise sales go. toonami was great for this because it aired daily after school, but no US network really does action/older kid shows after school anymore. You'd also have to censor shows to compromise airing it on a decent timeslots on most of these networks, which purists wouldn't like.
>>
>>5600752
It was also edited on Syfy (not for content but for time).

Finally got to spend some proper quality time with the Xi!

Attaching the shoulder-bra parts was a little tricky. They slid into place and plugged in smoothly, the tricky part was finding that sweet spot to slide them into place without rubbing against any other parts while doing so. Still, once you find that sweet spot it fits into place like a glove.

Does anyone here have the Rick Dias? If so, what are your thoughts?

It is one of my favorite non-gundam designs and I have been eyeing the RD since it was first announced. It's going for $40 on Amazon with Prime. I have not pulled the trigger because I think there's a good chance it will drop in price. If Victory, being a lead gundam, is going for $25, then I can definitely see the Rick Dias becoming cheaper.
>>
>>5602436

I own the rick dias and from my experience with it, it's a faithful rendition with some neat gear but don't expect any graceful posing as the wrist articulation/head and thigh are fairly non existent due to it's design. Nonetheless I would recommend it nonetheless but it's a far step back in quality like the mk2.

Thanks for the reply!

I also have the MKII RD and while I think it's a great action figure it's too stylized for my taste. The MKII is one of my favorite if not all time favorite "vanilla" Gundam designs and the RD is too anemic---the MKII is a chunky, bulky design and the RD simply failed in representing that element of the MKII. Probably going to sell it and jump on the ver Ka.

I dont think RD wants to compete with Gunpla. IBO and Thunderbolt are the 2 Gunpla lines that are most active right now, releasing RDs at the same time over-saturates the market. Release the RDs later so that buyers on a budget will have money by that time to buy the RD, instead of making them choose all at once.

I recently was rewatching the original Gundam.

Since the ANIME line is a big focus right now, I really hope we get RDs of the Guntank and G-Fighter, evendors if they endup as exclusives. I want to have the whole White Base team.
>>
>>5613677
Guntank is pretty much guaranteed.
>>
>>5613725
Yeah, but I want the G-Fighter too. I always preferred it to the Core Booster.

Hopefully though, we get those, and the Gelgoog and Gyan, then we'll have everything from the original series.
>>
>>5613624
Char's Rick Dom all the way

the G3 gundam has been done to death

also dat mega beam bazooka
>>
>>5613816
I don't have a G3 or a the gundam.

Also the bazooka on char's zeke is real unweildy!
>>5613677
guntank garunteed, I'd want a gm command unit, wish i could get an extra gm sniper dingo though to paint up.
>>5613767
Gyan would be tight, but I'd want 8th ms team, stardust, and war in the pocket instead! Kinda sucks that we only got the white dingos for side story mecha, thoguh EXAM was a favorite amongst the brass.
>>
>>5613911
I'd much rather they finish out a series line before moving on to those
>>
>>5613979
Same here, but I feel a bit of that is oyw related anyway. Besides, How many customs they can pump out if these units are successful?

We can get:
Anavel Gatto's Rick dom
Char's Gelgoog
Johnny Ridden's Gelgoog
Shin Matsunaga's Gelgoog
Anavel Gato's Gelgoog
Johny Ridden's Zaku r-2
Shin MAtsunaga's Zaku R1
Black Tri Star variants of all 3 zaku II

So many damned suits. Man, Where all my Zeon ace's at?
>>
>>5614008
I'll be honest, the only one of those that has a chance of getting releasedis the Char Gelgoog. The line is called ANIME for a reason.
>>
>>5614029
And before you bring up the Char Dom and G3, exceptions not the rule.

I don't think Bandai wants to dedicate that many slots for exclusivesto reuse the molds when I doubt many of those would get high number of sales.
>>
>>5614035
Gato's gelgoog was animated, shin's and Johny's were only animated in encounters in space though.

If the zekes sell well enough, I'd imagine we'd get a few of those.

With the wing line, we already got about 10 units made compared to the anime's 7, not counting exclusives.

Since the line seems to be picking up enough steam to warrant retooling of parts for exclusives I think we can expect more later. Most likely to the tune of zeon aces, I'd say we're most likely to see tristar and shin customs first as exclusives though. They were exclusives in the MSIA line towards it's finale,

It's the right leg. The entire joint assembly seem to be sticking out of the thigh slightly. There's no functional issues, but you can notice a slight gap between the kneepad and the thigh if the leg's straight. I tried pushing it in with no luck.
>>
>>5616826
>>5617238

Looking at http://blog.livedoor.jp/hacchaka/archives/51919162.html and the pictures in it, the joint should be more-or-less flush with the thigh, so you probably just need to push the right knee joint in nice and hard. Maybe try to ease it out to see if there's something wrong with the parts that was keeping it from being installed properly.

So I got this guy about 2 weeks ago for my birthday, and he's freakin' amazing! The engineering that went into this RD really impresses me (and others that I've shown it off to, heh). It makes it very hard to resist the rest of the A.N.I.M.E. sub line...

>>5620610
See above. Also, yes, it is super good. While most modern RD's are pretty comparable in terms of articulation and detail, this one feels like an almost perfect figure. Some design choices don't sit well with everyone (like the extra panel line details or certain proportions like the legs or fore arms), but if you like it enough from pictures you see online, then do yourself a favor and pick one up.

THAT BEING SAID, there was a small accident today... I had my A.N.I.M.E. Gundam posed with the beam effect attached to his rifle when I accidentally knocked him over and the peg for the beam bent. I tried to bend it back into place but the peg snapped from the stress. I'm a bit bummed out because I really liked that particular effect piece for this figure.

I know this is probably a longshot, but were there any anons who might've gotten multiple of this guy who would be willing to part with a beam rifle effect piece for me? I'd be willing to pay if needed.

fucking perfect

Gusion when? too bad this'll sell like crap
>>

My personal want list from Zeta would be Gaplant, Palace Athene and Gabtheley

At least it and the G-Self can fit on the shelf of "series with only one RD release" among others
>>
>>5622015
>G-Self
if g self looked more like the proto g self, it'dve sold better. How was that series anyway? Just got through with unicorn, was not as good as stardust.
>>
>>5622019
It's your average Tomino series. A lot of focus on weaponized hands.

>Proto G-Self
I prefer that design, actually.
>>
>>5622015

Kimaris is getting a release so atleast we're getting that.

Dom looks great. Really great.

And that Gundam. Damn. If only it didn't have all those extraneous notches and panel lines. Especially those ugly cutouts on the cheek-plates. Rarrrrghh!
>>
>>5622087
looks fine to me mate. I'm probably gonna get g3 or the ca version if that eve comes out.

Only thing off to me is the forearms. Might get the CA dom instead. I dunno. This line is gold. I hope they do more.
>>
Anyone got that pic of RD Char's Zeke next to the rg and 1/144 from the 2chan thread? It went down before i could get it. Or hell, if anyone has both next to each other.
>>
>>5621979

Love it, hope to see all the orphan suits, I mean they rolled out just about every 00 suit so why the heck not.
>>
>>5621914
well, really, what does he have to lose? and i don't see you with any beter ideas, nerd

gentle heat and minor pressure works wonders on gunpla stress marks, try rubbing your fingernail against a small stress mark from a misnipped nub.
>>
>>5622023

Not a fan of the "eyes" on the chest but otherwise would have preferred that over the G-self we got. And it almost looks like Barbatos took a bit of inspiration from this design as well.
>>
Looks like RD Freedom is now sold out due to the announcement for Force Impulse.
>>
>>5622369
Took them 8 months from August.
>>
>>5622369
Hopefully the Force Impulse sells well and we get more CE stuff.
As much as I like the Luna ZAKU, I fear that it will shelfwarm.
>>
>>5621979
I personally would like to see a Graze RD
>>
>>5622395
at 6000 yen hell ya it's gonna shelf warm
>>
>>5622847
They must really be counting on the Zaku name selling it. These prices are insane. Freedom didn't even sell out and it was cheaper than that. Justice shelfwarmed and Providence was an exclusive.
>>
>>5622858

Well I wouldn't have minded a 6000 yen tag so long as it was any other colored variant that wasn't pink , why does bandai always roll out the worst possible suits to start a line?
>>
>>5622019
>How was that series anyway?
Love it or hate it. You also have pay attention to what's happening. Plot isn't spoon feed to you like in most anime
>>
>>5622369
>>5622374
>>5622858

I think the Freedom shelfwarmed because of the botched face sculpt. I was really looking forward to it because I like it over the S.Freedom but those damn whiskers and the price killed the release for me.

I am confused about RD releases. Do Japanese reviewers get stuff sent to them early or are the items usually avaliable before the specific release date?
I am looking at the A.N.I.M.E. Dom, I think the supposed release day is the 23rd? It's already sold out on hobbysearch and some other vendors claim they have the it in stock and can ship today.
Am I about to make a huge mistake or what
>>
>>5623201
My understanding is that some reviewers get them before the official release.
>>
>>5622275

Learn to read.
>>
>>5623201

Dom is in stock now at HLJ. Sirbine is also available again.

Great! Also looking at the barbatos again, is anyone else really bothered by those hardpoint holes in the back of the elbows? What possible reason to put those there could be?
>>
>>5623425
learn to be constructive, you offered no way to fix the problem and are still too focused on me to be helpful, anon
>>
>>5623682

He could pin it if he had small enough tools and materials, but I doubt he does, and that would look like shit with a clear effect part. He's looking for a replacement, and rightly so. You are not being constructive, you are being a git.
