>hasbro, like so many US companies and US branches of companies, has a boner for doing their own thing and likes to get petulant when people they're in business with do their own thing

Japanese companies are also incredibly fucked at times. See: Capcom for the last 5+ years, Konami basically setting fire to it's Golden Goose and raping the ashes, Nintendo's refusal to give anyone what they want, etc.

>All molds have new heads
>Each of them comes with a breastmaster partner
>Sky Lynx has been heavily retooled to have both a dragon mode and robot mode
I can dream right?
I do wonder what the 6th member will be since Hasbro usually puts one in their box sets.
>>

>. see: animated breakdown being made entirely by takara, and hasbro subsequently going "no fuck you we're not gonna sell it"
Wrong.

Takara and Hasbro were jointly working on Breakdown when Hasbro decided they didn't want to release Breakdown at all. So Takara tooled it up and finished it, subsequently making it too complex to sell at the Voyager price point, which is why Hasbro never released it after
>>
>>5578369
One-Step Underbite retooled as Deathsaurus
>>
>>5578369
Leokaisers probably getting major changes if they ever release it in Japan. They keep trying to be faithful towards the G1 combiner teams, and Leokaisers torso fucks that all up.
>>
The only way they'll get me to buy Liokaiser is if Takara magically makes two separate molds for the torso and they put in a breastmaster gimmick on all of them.

I usually prefer official figures but I'm going third party on this one.
>>
>>5578385
>if

There is no way he isn't getting a Takara version. If they're going to do stuff like Grand Galvatron or Optimus Maximus, literal "WHO?" combiners, they're totally going to do one of their own original combiners.
>>
>>5578385
Not just the torso, they also lack breast animals, the arms aren't using two Skydive molds (to mimic Leokaisers original arms), Killbison not having his anti-aircraft turret, etc...

Takaras needs a miracle to save this thing.
>>
>>5578393

Two Skydive repaints/molds, new DrillRook from their Computron set was probably made for Liokaiser in the first place so they don't have to include 2 Brawl molds, a Brawl remold for the other guy, aaaand dunno what they can do for Skylynx being the torso.
>>
>>5578393
well tak does have less budget restrictions, so anything is possible. only hard part is the torso everything else is pretty simple
>>
>>5578395
highly retooled aerialbot and hound for the torso
>>
>>5578404

I almost wonder if they could retool Skylynx to just tab and lock together and then color the halves appropriately or something.
>>
>>5578407
Given how much they retooled all the computron guys I gotta wonder the same thing.

and that would leave the shuttle part without a robot mode since all the m\limbs are in the crawler.

Man, how did Liokaiser work back during the original release? Breast animals for all, Leozack was a torso, AND they all combined!?

Shit, Landcross looked cool as fuck when some anon was showing the magazine noting all the combinations you could do with the 6 of them.
>>
>>5578425

Because back then things had almost no articulation and no real expectations to look good. Also cheaper plastic prices.

You didn't need articulation when you had PLAY VALUE. You know, that thing when you ENJOY something without bitching about the colors or the lack of a waist or GEEWUN ACKURACY

>>5578429

So you got two Multiforce members. Let's say....these two, Wing and Waver.

One's a jet, one's a hoverboat or something? And they can carry their gestalt kibble as weapons.
>>
>>5578426

On that note, looking at a Liokaiser review, it had no articulation but elbows when combined (which was about par for course in G1).

Also fuck, Killbison was gold plastic. No wonder Liokaiser is retardedly expensive, one of his limbs is basically 100% chance to turn to dust and broken dreams.

Australia HAS the sets now, on target (online only) or premium collectables (limited quantities), buuuut I have no idea if Scandinavia has anything to keep you informed.

I can't say for the entire Scandinavia, but here they are usually pretty slow and tend to skip waves sometimes.

What bothers me the most is how fucked up the pricing is.
Roughly estimated CW Deluxes right now are almost 50 bucks and Voyagers about 60, at least at the big retailers.

We did get the CW Devy box set at around 240 dollars, so I might get that one if it goes on clearance.

I can't wait to see how this plays out, people going nuts over the supposed better hand and feet parts despite being nothing but kibble at the end of it (not that it means anything to those who want the gestalt alone).

Only thing that can go wrong is if takara somehow fucks up the colors, I already know what they'll use but the silhouette shot made it look like that still where his chest was lighting up, if they include that in a meaningful way (ie not metallic stickers) it'd trump hasbro's in retools and color alone.

The hasbro one has stickers on the torso, and that isn't a good thing at all.

But hay, we're all entitled to get what we want

I still find it weird as fuck that hasbros decided to do actual hands and feet for Computron, instead of the weapons that can be either a foot or a gun.

It seems strange to start doing that now, just as the line is dying off, instead of doing it right from the beginning.
>>
>>5578485
Technically 3 of the gestalts will have those hands and feet, victorion, computron and liokaizer.

Since they're box sets they'd be treated like the platinum range, this allows them to do weird shit

And no, I have no comfirmation on liokaizer, BUT the fact the line is over and he has line art suggest it may be the case

literally youtube skylynx fix, first video is what helped me, you just need 2 different screw drivers.

Note that this only fixes the gestalt legs/front leg ratchets, the rear feet of the robot mode will require a screw driver and or pledge to tighten them.

I managed to get one tighter via screw driver alone but the other is tight as is, so i'll need to coat the screw hole

>>
>>5578595
>Its nice that we can finally pose a combiner properly without having to spend an extra $40

I...wonder how much these sets are gonna cost by the end of it.

But of course they suck, jack of all trades, master of none, they do ok as hands and as feet you need the rear spurs to really do the work though no ankle tilts...and the new hands don't articulate better than the previous, just look mildly better and that's just an opinion you can discard.

I'm not acting like they aren't an improvement, its subjective, as hand held weapons the hfg's suck BUT as vehicle mounted weapons they do the trick in homaging those odd cannons the g1 toys had, with the ability to store somewhere useful in robot mode when not combined.

For me personally I'm fine with the hfg's, though if takara release the new hands and feet separately I wouldn't mind grabbing a few, I'll paint them myself too if required, otherwise I'm content saving money.

Yes I can understand Chinese.
The overall feeling this is a 8/10.
There are some small problems such as the head keeps falling down into the chest, and the looseness of the inner peg for holding the leg together.
The articulation is great on the torso, but the lower part is really iffy with the clip on the back of the knee. Don't see a reason why that part can't be collapsed.

I would say this would be a find MP. After all the MP line is more about proper look and transformation. Other big MPs (MP10/Seekers- bad waist, soundwave- the joints are there, but pretty much pointless) all suffer in the leg articulation department, so you can't hold this again shockwave.

I'm probably going to buy another one on eBay because I simply adore the mold (easily one of the greatest transforming toys ever IMO). I'm probably gonna get the Galvatron/Devil Gigatron version though, for variety's sake. Question is, should I just go with the Hasbro version or is it worth tracking down the Takara version?
>>
>>5579122

Also if anyones cares (nb4 >4chan caring), the stand for Hotrod is just to hold him upright in case I bump him or some shit. Not risking him taking a tumble because I just know the chrome will chip or the spoiler will break or some shit if he does a header off my shelf.

Kind of concerned if I get any other MP's though, I hear MP-10 is like 9, 10 inches tall. I'm pretty sure thats too big for my stands to really hold in case of an accidental bump.

I mean, something like UW Devy is totally worth the cost VS the CW.
>>
>>5578876
You still need to consider import costs for UW sets, and that you can find the Hasbro figures for cheap if you know where to look.
>>
>>5579131
Aye, I was aware that RID Megatron is actually a redeco of CR Devil Gigatron. Like I say, if I buy either Hasbro or Takara it'll be the white Devil Gigatron deco anyway. I just wondered if the Japanese versions had better QC (I have heard rumours that the Japanese versions of RID Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus are far more stable than their Hasbro releases for example).
>>
>>5579136
I'm always willing to pay more if it means a more solid figure. Obviously if there's no difference QC wise (or if the price on the Takara version is in the hundreds) then I'll just stick with the Hasbro version, but if the price isn't much more and the QC is superior I'll splurge the extra cash.
>>
>>5579145

I dunno about superior QC. My UW Motormaster has a floppy as fuck right elbow joint, he can't hold his arm straight as a result.

Tried futureshine like 5 or 6 times on him, doesn't even help. Dunno what the problem is with the pin, or the arm, or whatever.
>>
>>5579158
Aye, but this was in 2001. Different times, man.

(My condolences on your limp-elbowed Motormaster BTW)
>>
>>5578690
Yeesh that color, he's like a pretty pastel Easter robot.
>>
>>5579145
>>5579158
I understand that both Hasbro and Takara manufacture their toys in the same factories, so QC is equally dodgy for both.

Best chance is to report it to the store you got it from.
>>
Question: Would you still get the Hasbro Computron if none of the individual figures have new heads?
>>
>>5579189
I'd be a pretty huge negative (that being said, I don't care if Afterburner still has Groove's head).
>>
>>5579187

It's way past the point I could do that. Got him like 5+ months ago, and the problem developed like, after the 2nd month.
>>
>>5578732

Sold if this is true. I want this figure more every time I see a new pictures of it.
>>
>>5578485
Because those are box sets so you are guaranteed to have all 4 limbs and both hands and feet. If they packaged those with individual releases you could end up with 3 feet and 1 hand or 4 feet or 4 hands depending on what limbs you buy since they are all mix and match and Johnny Fiveyearold or his parents are not that concerned with gestalt teams' correct line-ups.

Hell, people had to put up with Dragstrip on Superion for months.
>>
>>5579257
Not him, but why not start that with the G2 Boxsets? None get those special hand/feet parts.
>>
>>5579268
No answer for that, really.
Maybe all that garish NEON ate up all the budget.
>>
>>5579268

They were probably made well before the new hands/feet were even thought of. G2 sets are just existing molds in different plastic colors, they've probably been ready for a long, long time.

There's literally no reason for that tab, slice it off if you get that figure.

My apartment is carpeted, but that didn't stop my CW Hot Rod's spoiler from breaking a nub off when it dropped. Still amazed that happened, considering some of the other shit I've dropped was much bigger and weightier, and didn't so much as even flinch much when hitting the floor.

Hot Rod's my first MP though, so I'm just being extra careful with him. He might be joined soon by another one or two though, which is why I'm going to ask for a bit of advice. Trying to decide on what to buy, got two ideas lined up. Both include some 3P stuff too. Was thinking either

>Group A
>MP-10
>MMC's Hexatron because I want an updated Sixshot to go with my G1 one
>Might tack on Cosmos and Swerve because I want them both

Or

>Group B
>Cosmos & Swerve
>Nemesis Prime and maybe Cliffjumper but it seems like he isn't so great
>IF's Ultra Magnus
>IF's Overlord

Really not sure where to go here. I only got so much cash, and Group A is hellishly expensive. Might just grab one of those and tack on Cosmos and call it a day, or...Shit. I am so indecisive.

UW Menasor for 8000yen [£50] or UW Superion for 12000 yen [£75]? I'd throw them both in the same order but A) different stores and B) There's a couple of fagmoes I can throw in with Menasor
>>
>>5579671

Menasor has some topheaviness problems and kind of a weird look without the PE plastic back support kit. He's the C in a line of B's.

Superion is basically the best combiner next to Bruticus in terms of stability. He's the A in a line of B's.

I own both, UW versions as well, and I liked them both, but I did eventually get the PE set for Menasor just to fill him out a bit.

Oh, just so you know though, Wildrider/Brake-Neck is gonna be scalped like a motherfucker. The others might be by now, too, since Menasor and his components were one of the first in the line. So if you want the original team without being buggered by scalpers, you're probably going to want a UW set.
>>
>>5579868
Brawl is hot garbage in robot mode.

Tank mode is fine if you get past the turret being unable to turn (and no actual treads, but what do you expect from a limb bot), leg mode is fine, arm mode is serviceable, but the robot mode is atrocious.
He's the only CW limb I would outright say is bad.
>>
>>5579855
>Anyways, are the CW Stunticons any good? I'm pretty tempted to put together a Menasor

Motormaster is a decent truck and robot, but the weakest of the torsos.
Dead End/Wildrider is possibly one of the best CW molds. But even if you don't find him amazing, he will be solid.
Dragstrip is a bit of an oddity, being the only CW limb with pull-out legs over "re-shelling" legs. He's decent, but nothing special.
Breakdown is the most contentious. His hips are weird, and depending on the tolerances, you might find them insufferable. Car and limb modes are nice.
Blackjack, while not needed, is one of my favorite recent legends, I really recommend him.
>>
>>5579855
The CW Stunticons are pretty good, but you'd be better off buying the Takara Unite Warriors set instead and buying a Hasbro Offroad on the side if you feel so inclined to.

The US versions of Wildrider and Dragstrip have gone up to rapetastic prices if I remember correctly- at least for dragstrip, anyway, his wavemates all skyrocketed in price, but I'm not 100% sure for dragstrip.

If you're only planning on buying it to GATTAI for Menasor, though, prepare to be disappointed. Motormaster is really shitty in combined mode compared to Superion and Bruticus/Defensor.

But as individual toys, they're fun, simple figures. Combined mode is passable, but it just looks really bad in comparison to the super solid torso bots for other combiners we've gotten.

>>5579854

>>
>>5579889
Thanks for the info, god it hurts to see how vicious scalping has gotten when Transformers are finally starting to look like they're getting some effort put into the toys.

I think I have to settle for ditching the Menasor though, the Wal-Mart I was at had two Breakdowns and nothing else and they really do look pretty fuckugly (funny too because I have the earlier Legends Brakedown who also looks like hot garbage)
Plus, I don't really have the space for some monstrosity of amalgamated plastic. I may keep an eye out for sone of the upcoming and recent released guys I was interested in, namely Springer and any other Wreckers I can find.
>>
>>5579902

>>5579855
>Anyways, are the CW Stunticons any good? I'm pretty tempted to put together a Menasor

I rather like them quite a bit. Some people give Menasor flack for his legs/thighs/whatever but you can fiddle with them so they aren't an issue. I think he looks great. Offroad probably has one of the best head sculpts in the Combiner Wars line, or you can pick up the glorious neon G2 Menasor. The choices are yours, and yours alone!!

Generations Voyager-sized Springer is fucking amazing. Also pretty cheap, he's usually around for MSRP or less.

Also, the combiners are about a foot tall, give or take an inch or two. So they're not super huge monstrosities or anything, but they're certainly big enough.
>>

>>
>>5579910

It's all based on popularity more or less. The older CW waves are scalped as fuck right now because it was both popular, and because some figures in the US were released as online exclusives and sold out fast.

It's cheaper, usually, to buy the UW Superion and Menasor sets then it is to get the CW versions.

But a lot of older figures are still pretty damn reasonable.

My eBay haul came in and I just found Windblade at Ross for $7. Just like the Scoop I got on Friday I had no care for this mold at $15, but $7 I have no issue with.

Roadbuster is not bad at all. Solid, but the backpack gun is really fiddly. Needs bicep swivels.

Armorhide was bought because of y'all. Got him for $8 shipped. Hes...not bad. His shoulders are shit, but it can be fixed with some shaving. He goes well with Roadbuster. I wanted the black version, but his eBay prices are stupid.

I have no experience with the Windblade mold, but I won't complain at the price. I'm still getting the RID version that looks like a better figure with not better paint.

Good molds, but you could probably find a old copy of those molds for cheaper than what Platinum sets tend to go for. Although I don't know the specific aftermarket prices on those specific guys.

I feel really bad though, because there was an error (or, entirely feasible in my excitement, a mis-click) and I got two of him. He sold out super-quickly so I robbed some poor soul of their Shockwave either way. Guess it's always good to have a spare.

I guess he does have a 5mm port - but I think I'll keep the second one MOSC. He feels really well-made and sturdy but I'm always overly-cautious about translucent plastic and the way his legs clip together for gun mode makes me sweat, even if it probably shouldn't.
>>
>>5580428
Alright, keeping the other one sealed in case of plastic breakage is fair enough.

AP is the Gaf of transformers boards.... Anyway, I'm trying to decide if I should keep my shockwave PO. He looks alright but, not $150 alright....

Yep and yep. Like I said though its the price. He's the same size as Ironhide but $60 more. Even with electronic gimmicks he seems to pricey.

Is that the one with Frenzy as his front grill? I'm not the most reliable person to ask because I have an immediate soft spot for movieverse designs, but go for it.
