Those of you just joining us, please read this guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.

For those unfamiliar, "Plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model." If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.

So I got myself a few classic MSV kits.

And I do not know how am I supposed to go about this.
I am to glue shut everything down first and paint prime/paint the thing in one go, or am I to build and pain the thing like the modern kit?

And there are so many flashes and dips it is a pain in the butt just clean up the parts.

Sorry for the low quality, my room has super shitty lighting for photos I think.

I started gunpla in April 2015. Crazy how I've accumulated so many over the year. I want to thank the many anons who have helped me improve my skills, model by model. Although I'm still mediocre in terms of cleaning up and tend to make some horrible gouge marks at times, and I've barely used cement glue to fix seamlines at all, but I want to improve next year and get some better painting tools and start weathering. Eventually I would like to make my own custom. Also to start putting waterslides on nu gundam and topcoat.

Thanks for reading my blog post, happy new year anons.

So it's been established that the easiest way to sand circular parts is to attach the offending piece to a drill or rotary tool and just spin it against something with a fine grit, but how do you actually fix the piece on there?

>the easiest way to sand circular parts

What you've described is a lathe.

Unless your nub marks are somehow evenly distributed along the circumference of your part, using lathe to sand a piece makes 0 sense.

What you most likely need is a sanding sponge and some patience.

No using a knockoff or third party as the base or straight up third party conversion kit.

I don't know if they changed it but you could generally get away with using parts from third party if you modded or customized them. In past years koto MSG stuff was fine as well as long as the base kit was bandai gunpla.

If you live in the US then shoot Bluefin an email about it and they can give you an official ruling.

Anybody have a picture of their HG F91 Gundam?
I want to see what it looks like without any paints, all I've seen are "touched up" pictures with paint or shifty lighting.

I'm still gonna buy it, but I want to know what I should expect.
>>
>>5373547
Yea the 1/100 is mechanicore and the 1/144 is mc. the 1/144 is slightly bigger than the mg rx78 3.0 so i wonder how big the 1/100 is compared to a mg kit
>>
>>5373719
huh, if i DA only knew how LONG it would've taken to post a picture i would have done it
>>
So I bought some mr.color clear closs and opening the jar it is essentially the thickness of freshly chewed gum. It also does not thin down easily like their clear flat or semi-gloss did. Is it supposed to be like this? I was too afraid of it clogging up my airbrush to try spraying it without asking first.

Or just a Schwalbe Graze Mcgillis Custom MG?

Most of the time when I encounter nub marks and it is an eyesore, I find the gundam marker of the same colour and colour over it. It is hard to notice from a glance, but unfortunately grey is pretty hard to cover up and if the gundam marker is a tad darker than the original colour, it will make it stand out more instead which is shitty.

But if you really want to get rid of them effectively, sanding is the most efficient yet slow method, but I have been terribly lazy about buying more sandpaper equipment myself. Oops, should have made it my new years resolution to get some better tools.

Well the nice thing about it is, any bulky kit would work since you'd be draping a black rag over it.

It's tamiya metallic red and metallic silver.
He is very glittery and shiny and I love it. I also brushed over it with a very light coat of a clear sealer to shine him up even more.
As for the cape, yeah not the best shot of it. Here is a better one but not as great a picture. He's back with his friends.
>>

You do know that the FA in FAG stands for Frame Arms, right?

Yes, but since they released kits with a designation for FAGs themselves I wasn't sure if they weren't interchangeable. Was just making sure.
>>
I just started this hobby, I don't really build models that often, but I have like 10 of them to work on. Should I just stick with spray cans or buy an airbrush?
>>
>>5375308
Sort of. Obviously some of the armor and such doesn't fit because the Fag doesn't have the same connection ports all over the frame. They both use the 3mm pegs for a ton of stuff though and the weapons can be held just fine too. So a ton of the stuff can be swapped, including the MSG weapon and part line.

Also, you can stick a lot of the HGBC stuff onto them with no issue as well thanks to all the 3mm hardpoints.
>>
>>5375341
It will be better if you get airbrush ASAP, especially if you regularly paint your kit.

Stuff like being indecisive with how to customize it, repainting the dark brown 3 times because I wasn't satisfied with the color, while I was at work my cat got on my counter, stole the torso, and played with it so I had to clean and repaint it, Fucked up the eye decals on the other two faces so it only has one face now, things like that. Also, I was a dumbass and forgot to mask off the peg so the parts fit is extremely tight in some areas and totally going to scrape the paint if I move it too much.

Flesh is just mr color flesh and character flesh mixed together to get a sort of medium tone. The face is unpainted. I just added a very tiny amount of blush to it with some peach pink pigment powder. I fucked up the eye decals on the painted faces and luckily I kept the "Eyes forward" face unpainted in case I did..

A lot of kits have seams where there aren't supposed to be which are formed along the line where the pieces of a part click together. Seam welding (And painting over them after welding) is the process through which you remove and hide these seams. How to do it is in the guide.
