Those of you just joining us, please read this guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.

For those unfamiliar, "Plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model." If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.

First for Turn A Shin has nothing to do with TRY.
>>
>>5338420
>The WD-M01MS ∀ Gundam Shin is a Gunpla appearing in Gundam Build Fighters Honoo Try

Got some bad news for you.
>>
>>5338426
>similar names
>same thing
Okay, kid.
>>
>>5338429
This just in: Eureka Seven AO isn't related to Eureka Seven anymore on the ruling that just because the name is the same that doesn't mean they're related.

Also sequels are no longer related simply by name alone. They must be direct referential sequels and have 100% to do with the main characters of the previous series. Otherwise they have nothing to do with each other.

[spoiler] Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Honoo Try IS part of the TRY series. Which is part of the Build Fighters series.
>>
>>5338437
Guess that means Try Age is in there too.
>>
>>5338441
That means that AGE and Try take place in the same universe. How deep does the rabbit hole go?

Well guys the group build results are in, and it's a revote for the secondary color. For now I'm taking suggestions as to how we should handle the vote again. I can set up another suggestion form, or we can do something else.
>>
>>5338459
Id say we cast what we want in a reply to you
So im gonna say red.
Then look at the reply posts and go on from there

>>5338437
>>5338429
Not to add any confusion, but sometimes sequels have lil or nothing to do with the first. Like warframe being a sequel to dark sector. Both are different from eachother but warframe hints alot to the other, where as honoo has gbf/gbft characters but has nothing to do with the shows
>>
>>5338459
>White
>Other
>Gold
Sweet.
Gather all the results for the secondary that didn't make the first cut and place them into a vote. We can all decide from that
>>
>>5338459
How exactly are we going to make this work? We all get the same model and paint it up with the selected color scheme and post pics?
>>
>>5338476
No we can choose which kit, just gotta do it up in those colors
>>
>>5338404
Will topcoat also hide the swirls in the plastic?
>>
let's not fuck of the secondary color guys. I think White for primary and gold as trim is pretty appealling already

Fuggit, here's the list of stuff that wasn't included in the voting.

Secondary
dark blue
Deep blue
Gold
Gray
grey
Grey
GREY with BEIGE
Hot Pink
Light green
Lime Green
Navy Blue
Orange
Pale blue
Pink
Purple
Teal

Personally I'm a fan of purple as the secondary.

>>5338476

>>

>>
>>5338493
Teal baby

nice pairing with white and gold imo
>>
>>5338484
It can hide a lot of imperfections to some degree, you can see it do that on that picture, but as always paint hides all

Top coat really improves straight out of box builds though, and its not as involved as painting a full kit. Its standard fare for those who want a good looking kit without bare plastic but don't want to go all the way in painting. Just make sure you panel line before you top coat.
>>
>>5338493
Purple or pink im fine with either or
But wtf is the difference between grey and gray. Is ay ayylmo or was it ey?

They actually do new production runs of the popular stuff. They're just really inconsistant about when and which ones. Some of the zoids and frame arms for example.

>>
How good is the Krylon colormaster line as primer for gunpla? Does it ruin details or the plastic?
>>
>>5338654
It's shit. Any hardware store spray paint is designed to cover large surfaces and will leave your model coated in a thick coat of paint.
>>
>>5338658
I thought Krylon was a legit alternative to hobby primer?
>>
>>5338687
Don't come crying to us when you fill your panel lines with paint.
>>
>>5338687

you can use Krylon but you should get whatever the art/craft one is they make
>>
>>5338654
Mostly use Krylon for resin kits and it can drown out very small details if you spray it heavy. Real Grade details are in a lot of danger of being covered. A quick misting followed by light passes for an even cover works.

I originally tried to use the stickers too but they are indeed pure ass to apply, so I gave up and painted what I could. Looks terrible, but still better than those crummy stickers.
Minerva Kai was actually the first kit I assembled and I just finished the Minerva kit earlier today. I really love these things for being a sort of mid-ground between an SD and HG kit with overall great designs.
Forgot to ask this earlier, but does anyone happen to know how to play the game using the boxes? I assume it has something to do with using those part drums as a sort of dice to determine what is hit/healed/boosted, but I'm too much of a dumb butt to figure the rest out.
>>
>>5339026

the board parts are printed on the inside of the box too.

Same, finished Minerva Kai a few hours ago. Looks good, other than a few missing details (white ring around the head thrusters) and leg is a tad loose , but it's great.

We can replace the thighs with the MK-II Revive because the thighs on that kit or super extended. The torso is going to be super small.

Now we have really long legs and a tiny chest.

If you do ship it back, it would probably be better if I gave you my college's address, I'm there 80% of the time and they encourage students get stuff delivered there since there will always be someone to pick it up.

The only issue is the winter break, depending on the timing it might have to wait until next year. Either way I'll probably message GG sometime soon so he can forward you the details.

it fumes like a bitch and not in a good way

while it may not have harsh solvents, it is pretty fucking harmful and you will be airing out your garage well into the next year trying to get rid of the smell

word to the wise: don't spray future, it was never designed for it and it fucking shows, use a brush
>>
>>5339751
I've sprayed it with a drop of Windex. It was a bit watery but fine otherwise. What are you talking about?
>>
>>5339757
>drop
doesn't sound like you sprayed it much

I sprayed it straight and thinned 1/3 with iso, same thing: it starts to fume and you are standing in a literal fog soon after (after about 3-5ml of it is sprayed).
>>
>>5339766
Don't thin it with alcohol. Use ammonia based window cleaner. It shoupdnt be misting and you should be using a spraybooth. Moreover you only add a drop because too much windex and harm any acrylic paint underneath and potentially make a coat uneven. I've had it happen to me. It also sounds like your pressure is too high, I would use 8 to 12 with slower passes.

BREAKING NEWS:

The notorious thief, Mock, was just spotted stealing parts from local citizen Gogg.
>>
>>5340634
The victim had this to say: "He was ac-tually a really good guy, needless to say im z'shocked."
>>
>>5340639
As of yet Mock has not given back the legs. The reason he said confused all onlookers, as when confronted he started shouting "P-BANDAI!" at the top of his lungs. More news at 11.
>>
>>5340644
I honestly think a Mock with some added Zeon aquatic suit pieces would make a cool water MS, like add some fins and maybe some spiky shoulder pieces and paint it some shade of blue.
>>
>>5340646
Not on this one, sorry. Have plans, I was the anon posting about the Full Armor Gundam Mock who got this for SS. Maybe if there's a sale on them in the future I'll get a few, currently have too much plamo to work on.
>>
>>5340649
I might do it at some point, since Mock's are so cheap. What do you think would be a good weapon for it? Planning on it being some kind of ship sinker with something like the Deathscythes radar jammers.
>>
>>5340653
Good luck then, I may eventually follow suit. Do you like the idea of a harpoon? Kotobukiya has harpoon guns for cheap, I am waiting on 2 for the Gogg Mako thing I posted about (and then some shitposter copied and pretended to be me).

Both are relatively new. I read Syd's review on the V1 ver.ka and it's a brick because of the transformations, but he likes it. HG doesn't look bad either.
>>
>>5340681
I only did it once but there was a piece on the chest as you can see where I couldn't complete it, the little piece was confusing because it looked as if there was just some molding left over on it and it was highlighted red, which means you either have to cut it off or it's just highlighting it, so i cut it off because I'm hasty. I think I am going to just stop making these until I have a big grid and a huge desk with all the proper stuff to cut things off, a magnifying glass, proper lighting and all that stuff.

>>

>Dedicated sprue cutters are probably better than shears designed to cut metal
I think even nail cutters are better than non-hobby wire cutters.
I like trimming nubs with knives more than sandpaper, I can't explain it.
>>
>>5340838
I use my knife as close as I dare then finish off with the sandpaper
>>
>>5340839
I might need more sandpaper though, I only have 600, 1200 and 2000 grit atm. What grit do you start with?
>>
>>5340849
Not him, but I also trim as close as I can with a knife. I'll usually start at 400 or 600 and go up by 200 to 1000.

Note that grit only refers to the size of the particles and not what they are made of. Don't use wood sandpaper on plastic. I have both Tamiya sandpaper and the plastic hobby abrasive films packaged by several different companies. The films I usually only use for smoothing out curves as they are expensive and easy to wear out.

The only things I ever use a metal file for are metal and resin. They will scratch the hell out of plastic.

I went pretty much blind myself with only a handful of ideas. I didn't have much time, but I did look up a few tutorials, and if I had to give myself advice, it would be that it'll be expensive and you should make a solid base. I used styrofoam, but I would try to use modelling clay to make better contours for the ground and to mold better in general. You could put that on styrofoam. Depending on what kind of scene you want, there's a bunch of supplies at hobby stores and you should look around the modelling area and get some ideas from that.
>>

>>
>>5340924
I did after the picture, which was back in May. Drove me nuts as well.
>>
>>5340925
Im planning on making a desert scene, but with 7 kits idk how to really do it or how big i need it to be. Everytime i go to the supply store i always look at the diorama stuff. They have sets and stuff, but im still debating if i should use styrofoam or the base sets. Might have to lower the kits to make it work
>>
>>5340939
Yeah, 7 is pretty big, haha. Just this one is about 10x10 in and about 8 in high. The next one I want to do will have 5 MGs, but with how much room it'll be, I'll be doing very minimal background work. For the desert scene though, I suggest looking up vegeta8259 on YouTube. He was on of the people I looked into a lot and he did a simple desert scene with a custom Leo. He also has a WIP video that pretty much covered his whole diorama development.
>>
>>5340945
Cool will do

Ill probably cut the kit down to 5, since the kits are ready to be painted while the other 2 need alot of work to be ready to paint
What im planning is a zeon ground squad beating down a feddie team. But a 2man team doesnt sound right. Gonna worry bout the kits first before worrying about the display

Did you try doing an actual water effect or just go for painting it blue?

I went through a small bottle of realistic water from Woodland Scenics, but I fucked up really hard on masking off the area properly both attempts I did. The blue was meant to just be an undercoat, but now it'll have to just be the water. If I had to do it again, I'd put a bit of realistic water at a time and let dry before the next attempt because the amount I used per attempt was probably just too heavy for the masking to hold up.
