The proto parts that BZPgot are long gone now. You pretty much just have to see if you can get them out of the current members.
As for the 2015 parts that DV and Tufi got, that wasnt just a. BZP thing, a few other builders got the parts too. Essentially they were given to good bionicle builders who were close with TLG.

Any other customization of your lineup? I've followed the instructions of the Bioformer guy and combined Skull Grinder and LoSS into Kulta Kai, just because it's a solid MOC outside of transforming and torso-being, and it solves the problem of a lame spider and a wimpy skelebro at the same time.

Yeah I agree. Seems to be a split between experience with model kits and just a different culture.
There's also a difference in the east vs the west in the perception of robots and/or bugs. They're heroes in Japan, but in the west bugs are evil and robots as characters are generally more evil than they are good, though there are of course exceptions.
Generally:
Eastern MOCs have thick thighs that stretch forward more, thin, waspish calves, and small feet with toes the model can stand on.
Western MOCs have straight, thinner thighs, calves of equal thickness, and big, blocky feet with no toes to stand on.
Eastern robots tend to have spikes/tails/long things sticking out from points on the body.
Western robots tend to be smooth and/or blocky, very utilitarian.
Eastern robots almost always have a melee weapon of some kind, and Western robots almost always prefer a gun/laser instead.
Also, anyone planning on switching out their Master's torsos with the Uniter versions? Tahu will be tough with his flag swords, Onua is a doozy with his wide torso, and Lewa will have to lose his tail sadly.

So I just build this guy. Didn't originally intend to.
And yeah, he's cool. Really surprised that he used quite a lot of pieces from Ekimu and Scorpio too. From the pictures I just thought he was Kulta with some borrowed parts, but I'm glad to see to be wrong. Shame that the Bohrok eyes are yellow, otherwise the color scheme is really coherent.
And now I want to get second of each of the sets so I can have Ekimu fight the demon too. All the delicious spare parts don't hurt either.
