I was thinking about this the other day. I'm thinking that They can totally make a stock frame, and make Trypticon, Scorponok and Omega Supreme from the same mold with retooling.

I mean, a Dinosaur Mode isn't that far from Scorpion mode, which isn't to far from a hulking behemoth robot mode either... and each one of them turn into a city/base correct? I mean, I hope Im wrong, but I can see hasbro doing it.

Yeah, I just named it that without thinking. Mostly because it has Hot Rod/Arcee/Springer in it, and I'm waiting on Ultra Magnus, Cyclonus, Blitzwing in the mail, and the upcoming Galvatron and Astrotrain whenever that gets released probably in 3-5 months.
>>
>>5313710
Its not. Slouch it over on two legs, dinsaur/kaiju mode, lay same mode down on stomach, add some scorpion legs and replace the kaiju tail with a scorpion tail. Imagination bro, use it and be enlightened.
>>
>>5313720

Oh, and the rumors that more of the 86' crew will pop up as -Masters (probably Targetmasters?). Hopefully we'll get a new Hot Rod(imus?) and Kup too.

tl;dr That shelf is my "All of my other dudes/86 movie guys" shelf.
>>
>>5313723

Best guess: Base body will be a big square more or less, with different molded details. Legs and arms can be interchanged easily, dino tail swapped for scorp tail. Trypticon will be more humanoid to make him a better overall toy (ie: No stubby shit tier t-rex arms, more vertical rather than horizontal stance).

My favorite part was in the Battle of Autobot City where Lugnut and Devestor fought Grappel and Warpath.
>>
>>5313727
Correct, and from trypticon, stand him up right...replace his head, and you got spreem.

Also, I'm going to go one step further. This is Hasbro, I bet both spreem and trypticon are going to have same "one claw hand, one missle/gun hand" that turn into a rocket ship, just in a different color... maybe a remold... but I doubt it.
>>
Anybody order that oversized MP-8X KO? I'm kind of interested, since the original is so hard to find at a decent price.
>>
>>5313738

I don't think they'd give him a claw/gun hand. I do thing Scorp and Tryp hands will be very similar though. Scorp will probably be one big claw each like normal, while Tryp will probably have 2 fingers and one thumb, but still in a sort-of claw configuration (basically, remolding the outside of the claw as 2 fingers rather than one, uh...Outer claw?).

Omega will probably have a similar setup, but with 2 "thumbs" perhaps?

I mean, at this point, it's about trying to ingeniously use what you have, I can't really fault a company for it, as long as it looks right.
>>
>>5313764

Where can i order the KO?
>>
>>5313767
They're on ebay. Cheapest price is about 157, free shipping.
>>
I can't wait for the Grimlock retool of Trypticon.
>>
>>5313730
The Battle for Autobot City was great for making the whole situation so desperate, but man did I hate that the Decepticons left this fight with zero casualties.

Hell, depending on the continuity, and cut content, even more Autobots died.
>>
Does RiD Megatronus have problems with stress marks on the elbows?

I don't know if I'm seeing stress marks near the pin on mine, or if its just swirls in the silver plastic.
>>
>>5313768

That's 157 USD, right, with free shipping to America? God damn, with the conversion rate, I may as well just buy a new one, but I already have both MP-08 and MP-08X.. i just want a decently scaled Grimlock. I wonder how the quality is.
>>
>>5313688
>How will they fuck it up?

By reissuing the g1 toy minus the walking action, adding lots and lots of greeble, and making him a headmaster.
>>
>>5313801

In the 86 movie at least some of the Decepticon's died. You can probably write off everyone who was dumped off Astrotrain at least, given they were reforged into completely new 'bots with different personalities.
>>
>>5313801
If I remember correctly, the Autobot deaths were:

Movie:

-Before the battle: Ratchet, Ironhide, Prowl, Brawn

-Wheeljack, Windcharger, Huffer, Optimus

Added later, or not in the film:

-Trailbreaker, Mirage, and Red Alert

Then there's the guys who were there, but never show up after.
>>
>>5313850
Not counting the reformatted dudes, the only casualties the Decepticons get are nameless generics during Unicron's attack

The characters who are suppose to die in this attack are Shockwave, the camera trio, and the coneheads, but the only one's who die are the coneheads during the film (and they show up alive later...).
>>
>>5313856
Oh, and Starscream. Sort of.
>>
>>5313866

I wouldn't say "sort of". He died pretty hard.

Then there was the ghost thing, but we don't talk of that because that was retarded even for G1.

>I barely remember Buzzsaw.

He was barely used since Soundwave came packed with him, so there was no need to advertised him. While he wasn't used very much in the show for that reason, he's extremely memorable in the G1 marvel comics due to an extremely hilarious panel that has him beating Omega Supreme.

The autobots outnumbered the decepticons, so they had to clean house of them more. It was all making room for new toys. The story needed bodies for unicron to change into minions, decepticons would not have taken their dead, they don't do that.

just imagine reflector died

I'm going to get him just for the fact it's the closest we can get to a decent modern interpretation of him, with bonus combiner mode.

If I do use him in combined mode I can free up my optimus maximus limb set.

Though I dread...what could takara do with him, what WILL they do?

I have a theory, its a long shot but takara releases an online exclusive version of him with another massive retool as liokaiser, the shuttlemode ,ight be stuck but they can just force feed us the fact liokaiser is the main event and not the robot modes.

Isn't his spark supposed to be made like BW Rampage? Completely indestructible by normal means... And I mean, without it, we wouldn't have Transmetal Waspinator, which is one of the greatest toys ever created.
>>
>>5314495
bw rampage's spark was an attempt to duplicate starscream's spark

>>

Nah, he has the same transformation scheme than his G1 toy (minus the split), only similarity with Silverbolt is the head of the main bot ending on the bottom/back of the combiner. Saying that he is a retool of SB is like saying RTS Jazz is a retool of Uni Prowl.
>>
>>5314528
So...its not a case like airaid and skydive then?
>>
>>5314529
Not in the slightest, they just look similar because both have the same desing since g1, "planes carring huge boxes under them".
>>
>>5314528
So they are only not retools because they used two molds despite using the same transformation scheme
>>
OK, seeker fag.

I know we have issues with the retooled seeker molds, but help me with my thoughts.

>Own hasbro mp mp11 starscream, acid storm, sun storm
>found old mp3 hasbro skywarp for $138 free shipping

Should I break sequence and get it because that's cheap, box and all?

The main concern is the only matching thundercracker is takara's which always go for shitloads since hasbro went straight for the mp11 mold which still at absurd prices
>>
>>5314379
I actually prefer the comic book colors, mostly because of the silver paint vs. gray plastic, but it is a confusing choice. You have to wonder why they would KO the version that requires more paint apps and will likely attract fewer buyers.
>>
>>5314397
I'm more bothered by the mods coming along and mass-deleting 20 posts or so late in each thread's life. It accomplishes nothing, and causes generals that should be dead to come back to life.

Any tips for pin removal? Do those automatic center punches work? A hammer + pin punch is a pain in the ass to use and sometimes doesn't even work anyway.
>>
>>5315185
Heat gun/hair dryer, just focus it on the part for 3-4 minutes, then you can push the pin with a small screwdriver, if it still hard, try another 3 minutes, but don't let it on for too long, you may deform the plastic, this also works to get rid of stress marks.

>>
>>5315497

Doesn't that make more sense though, since a lot of robots can easily be compacted down via folding limbs/parts/etc to similarly sized vehicles, given most are jets/cars anyway?

The problem is usually that robots with normal-ish sized robot modes end up turning into ridiculously huge/small shit, like Broadside and being a aircraft carrier, or Soundwave's tiny boombox alt mode turning into a huge robot.

>finally pick up Blackjack in the wild to complete my Menasor
>mfw he doesn't fit on Motormaster's chest-pegs even a tiny bit and falls off no matter what
Anybody have this problem? Considering filing down the sides of the pegs a little bit, as they seem to be stopping Blackjack from sliding on snugly.
>>
>>5315549
Common issue. There's a shapeways adapter that's $9. Sounds like a lot but it works well and gives a blaster. Has the ability to go on the figures back as wings but that's better for hot rod obviously.
>>
>>5315549

Literally everyone has that issue, not even Takara fixed it on UW Menasor. All you can do is just sand it down as you said until he fits properly without falling off.
>>
>>5315524
My theory is that those guys can physically become larger or smaller because of tons of folding panels and one super hollow mode, one super dense mode. They more or less alter their density through transformation drastically. For example:
>average weight boombox decompresses into a boombox-weight robot/average weight robot compacts into a robot-weight boombox

>average weight aircraft carrier packs down into aircraft carrier weight robot/average weight robot decompresses into robot weight aircraft carrier

If we're trying to make sense of transforming cartoon robots, soundwave and broadside are probably made of tons of little tiny panels in a similar manner to bayformers.
>>
>>5315556
>>5315557
Glad it wasn't just me then, thanks anons. I had been going to skip him and all the other 6th-members, but it's been months since I bought a new TF and when I saw Blackjack I figured he'd make a good generic Decepticon even if I didn't keep him combined with the others. I kinda like how he goes with Scamper that came with Metroplex, they share some transformation features.
>>
>>5315559

I just assumed good old fashioned mass displacement. They just shove the excess mass into a pocket dimension because "robot space magic don't think too hard on it".
>>
>>5315563

Yeah, it's kind of like the excess plastic problem with Blitzwing-Omnipresent, every figure has the problem. Kinda sucks Takara didn't even bother to fix it, but given you can solve it with just a bit of sandpaper it's not that much of an issue.

And yeah, I'm grabbing Blackjack just to have the full roster of Menasor.

Here's an easier solution to the Blackjack problem.

get some krazy glue with the hard plastic case and pen-tip applicator, the liquid kind, not the gel. Push the applicator tip on a covered surface (use some printer paper) until it makes a small puddle, then rub the applicator tip around the rim of Blackjack's back peghole (not the one that seperates in his legs), do 4 or 5 circles around the rim until it's fully covered, then set Blackjack peghole-side up, let him dry for a few hours.

If you did it like I did, Blackjack should now pop onto Motormaster's chest pegs with no problem.

It's fine for G1, but it's such a half-assed way for doing these things when we've got so many engineering programs to prevent scale issues. Basically, I'm ok with it if it's only for G1, but forcing Mass Shifting upon EVERY series afterwards seems lazy.

But then I want to see a Megatron with a massive Napoleon complex running around causing hell for Optimus Prime and co.
>>
>>5315866
These are my opinions on both Motormaster and Prime:

Motormaster had a great robot mode, but his legs in torso mode look awful.

Optimus, is bad (in my opinion) on a lot of things. His head is small, and his chest looks weird, while his torso has the same leg issue. I also would have really liked if Prime's chest in torso mode was similar to Energon Prime's.

Unrelated to the above, the thing that really annoys me is that this mold would have looked better if they based it on Energon Prime instead of G1 Prime.
>>
>>5315964
What about MM with the fixed leg ratchets?

My friend hyped me Totally not Ultra Magnus but I haven't pulled the trigger to just get him.
>>
>>5315969

They're fixed in the UW version and in later wave versions (look for an embossed code on the back of the box beginning with 5, I think is the fixed hips US versions), but they're still nothing that super special. Menasor is still the worst of the gestalts, but overall he isn't that bad.

tl;dr Menasor is the bronze medal. Doesn't mean he's bad, but he's the worst of the lot. I still got him, and he's pretty cool. Just gotta be more careful in posing him. I'm going to see if getting the Perfect Effect hands/feet set helps any.
>>

>>
>>5315999
The elbow kit is pretty cheap for what it provides. Its not just a cooler weapon or add on. It literally adds better articulation to the set plus the guns. Well worth it.
>>
>>5316014
Yeah there's tons of kits to fix the head and vehicle modes but only one for elbows, so I figure I should grab that out of the way.
>>
>>5314450
>thinks this is somehow Silverbolt retooling

It's no wonder Hasbro doesn't listen to you guys.
>>
>>5316017
Definitely. Everything else seems to just be for looks or a few more neat but unnecessary features.

Not to say they look bad or anything. I would love the articulated hands for devastator, but I don't want to pay for a whole set when I just want those.
>>
>>5316002

It really depends on the type of posing you're going for I guess. I do like that the kit gives a sword extender though. I may pick it up at some point, but this month my money is tight with all the shit I've bought. I've got enough set aside to grab Bruticus if Onslaught finally gets released in actual quantities, and thats about it.
>>
>>5316024

The fully formed torso looks a lot like Superion's in terms of general shape. He might be a really extensive remold, or he could be entirely new and just look a lot like Superion's body.
>>
>>5316025
I like most of PE's kit but he Prowlstator head is unnecessary and I wish they opted for another Devestator head.
>>
>>5314450
>The head flips out, it must be a retool
No wonder everyone thinks Transfags are retarded. I bet you think he can be retooled into Razorclaw, too.
>>
>>5316031
No, he is not a remold. Get some glasses and a new brain, you could not be armchair-engineering worse. His bottom half is a jet doesn't make him a retool, your complete unawareness of spatial geometry, mechanical engineering is beyond words. It really is staggering that you people think you can then criticize designs when you're so clearly lost in this particular case.
>>
>>5316031
But he doesn't look like superions body. They're both torsos and have torso like proportions. That's all they have in common.
