Question of the day: Aside from the Slann, are there any other normal Lizardmen?

So do any of you buy into the rumor of a Start Collecting!: Slyvaneth? Because if so, I might hold off on buying a slaves to Darkness set. What would they realistically put in a Slyvaneth box?

Here's my thoughts:
BranchWych
Treelord
Dryads
Kurnoth hunters
>>
>>48133146
Praise the thighs
>>
>>48133176
Need start collecting fyreslayers first I think
>>
>>48133176
I'm more sold on a 150 dollars sylvaneth box set. something like:
>2 treelords
>10 revenants
>6 kurnoth hunters
>branchwych
>>
>>48133232
Eh, they seem to be doing it in pairs.

Magmadroth
Hearthguard
Berzekers

The only problem is that shit together is 200+ dollars. They seriously overpriced the fuckers.
>>
>>48133300
Yeah, but thats not going to have the 85$ SC gurantee to it, which sucks.
>>
>>48132323
>literally all that happened to flesh eaters

They got some new units and heroes.
>>
>>48133300
Little much
>>
>>48133300
That's 1180 points. Close to twice the other sets
>>
Is there any players out there that like the aesthetic of the fyreslayers? Genuinely curious, as I honestly think all of the AoS armies so far look pretty damn good, especially compared to a lot of 40k's strange change into CAD, but that looks exactly what they did to the dwarfs, with odd looking symmetrical guys and generally imo bad looking skin.

They really dropped the ball on those dudes or am I alone in thinking that? I've just decided to start a small ironjawz force so been out the loop.
>>
>>48133590

I like them.
>>
>>48133300
I could see a 540-640 point build, most SC are around 550-ish (malignants were 460, pestes was 540)

>tree lord
>3 hunters
>5 revenants
That's 540
>maybe branchwych?

Coolies, were you a dwarf player before or new to them?

I'm trying to get two friends Into starting with me, but they were both dwarf players (since sold their armies) and don't like the new aesthetic. I think it's more the whole fantasy to aos thing that soured them but I can't disagree with them about the fyreslayers.

They are just one faction of the new dwarfs though is that correct? I assume their will be others?

>>48133176
Remember start collecting sets are to mostly sell old models that won't get bought because of shiny new stuff. If anything it would have a treelord, dryads and maybe a branchwych since it's their only small plastic character.
>>
>>48133822

Ah. Was just confused at first why you said that in response to a Glottkin pic.
>>
>>48133777

I have thousands of points of Dwarfs lol.

I'd love to be able to get a Fyreslayer army going but I need to paint literally hundreds of miniatures before I considerealized starting a new army.

Plus, when I do start a new army, Brayherds is next. I've wanted to do Beastmen forever.
>>
>>48133777

Fyreslayres have a few good modeks, it's really the units that are insufferable.

I think the smith, magmadroth, etc. woukd look nice along side Firedrakes, Ironbreakers, Hammerers, etc.
>>
>>48133777

And yes there will be at least one other Dwarf faction. They still have to do the Dispossesed battletome.
>>
>>48133945
Eh, most SC sets have 1 Big unit, 1 medium unit or hero, 1 troop choice. And not every box is all old plastic. For example, the Skitarii box is all super Recent.
>>
>>48133777
There is the Dispossessed which are the dorfs that reside in sigmar's big city.
Supposedly there are still duradin still living in the realm of metal if I remember correctly. So they might be their own faction.
Some of the fluff suggests that beings that inhabit the realm of metal turn to metal so maybe we'll see metal dorfs
>>
Wonder if we're ever gonna see something new for the skaven. Like a new clan or something.
>>
I just saw corsair is on steam and I'm interested in reading up on the original. Did anyone here ever play?
>>
>>48134163
Skitarii aren't that old themselves. They literally do not have older options.

Also, not every box is ALL old models but they do try to sneak a weak seller in there somehow like the Helbrute.
>>
How well do Pestilens, Rotbringers, and Nurgle Daemons actually synergize with one another?
>>
>>48134863
Honestly, I just run pure pestilens. May expand and build a mortal burgle army in the future tho. Could be fun for path to glory.

>>
>>48136900

I'm not sure I'm buying into the Steamhead Duardin as a standalone faction yet. They got like one passing mention in one of the campaign books and everyone just ran with it. My own opinion is that they were mentioned as just a particular nation in the realm of metal, not a subset of Duardin that will get their own battletome.

So, hows it goin /AoSg/. Here's my list for some friendly Bone Zone action. Note, I might post my whole collection list later on:

>Hero's
Vampire Lady/w flying: 140 points
Necromancer: 120 points

30 Skeleton/w Spear 240 points
30 Skeleton/w Spear 240 points

>Elite
15 Grave Guard/w great weapon: 240 points

980 points even. I fucked up on the heros section, I added another Necromancer.

Anyways, for Relics, I picked cloak of Mist and Shadows. Makes my flying Vampire even faster and sneakier. For trait, Red Fury will help her shred what ever she needs to.

Before I get too far into this game with a friend I would like to know something about the lore.

Is there a good in universe reason for two Order aligned armies to fight?
>>
>>48139569

Sure. Inter-factional squabbles, the Fyreslayers can be paid to do it, elves are elves, the Sylvaneth could be pissed about something the fleshbags have done, etc.
>>
>>48139184
Becoming a great magic user and seeing the future gets old quite fast, I'll give you that.
>>
>>48139630

I always wanted to see something like a Chosen of Tzeentch who is a master swordsman with precog, just for some variety.
>>
>>48139569
Stormcasts can fight each other in mock gladiator matches between whole armies where no one actually dies

Sylvaneth hate everyone who trespasses into their woods, and are pretty reluctant to ally with even the stormcasts

Fyreslayers will fight anyone if paid enough ur gold

Seraphon are the only ones who won't attack other order forces, and them vs Stormcasts is pretty unlikely. There is a picture of them fighting sylvaneth outcasts though, but outcasts are racist fucks who fight anyone so there's that.

We don't know enough about the elves or whatever follows malerion and the Tyrion&Teclis gods of light duo, but in Allgates every force sent there got BTFO so they probably aren't opposed to fighting order.

>>
>>48134863
Well they mostly synergize by not killing each other because Nurgle keyword gives immunity to some of their bullshit. Epidemius would buff them all, other than him, most buffs specify Mortal Nurgle or Nurgle Daemon, so not that much. A Plague Priest could use his prayers to make Blightkings deadlier and a Lord of Plagues could give Nurgle's Rot to a big blob of Monks, though.
>>
>>48140168
if only everyone thought like that. Even the avid AoS players at our shop refuse to put anything on round bases.

>>
>>48140776
Your still not making any sense. Which warscroll do you mean? What the fuck are 'imperial fist orcs'? What do you mean with 'the gutbuster warscroll'? Do you want the warscrolls of the gutbuster units? You can get those on the GW store website. Or do you want the warscroll for the Gutbusters Wartribe Battalion? You can find that at the end of the Legacy Ogre Kingdom warscrolls here:

i made perfect sense, you have just not read the generals handbook at all if you have no idea what i am saying.

army special rules cost points now, but the gutbusters dont have a specific army rule, yet there is still an option in the generals handbook to purchase this special rule.
>>
>>48140876

>>48140941
I -think- what they're saying is that battalions cost points now, and there's a particular warscroll battalion (called the Gutbuster's Wartribe) included in the GH that they can't find on the website.

This is probably indicative of Ogres getting some kind of update relatively soon.

I *think* he's asking about what the point cost of the Gutbuster batallion gets him. I mean, I'm not sure, the question is asked badly and the guy isn't making things any clearer with his followup posts.
Still, the answer to his question would be: 'The special rules of that warscroll batallion. You still need to buy the units for it seperatly.'

Neither of those would really coun't as a new force though. If it was the bonesplitterz they would be the forces of Gorkamorka. So they could just say that Gorkamorka claimed the realm instead of nobody.
With the beastclaw raiders, I was of the opinion that the Ogres in AoS also worship Gorkamorka? Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't think they would call it a 'new force' if it's just some monster hunting ogre tribes.

Great, so codex creep has already made AoS pay2win just like 40k. I understand GW wanting to give incentive for players to buy new armies instead of recycling their existing collection but this is just how the whole cycle of catch-up starts.

I get that but the other realms are all claimed by big figures like Khorne, Alarielle, Archaon etc.
Since Ghur is unclaimed because a 'new power' stirrs there I would assume that would also have to be some big figure. Neither the entries for the new bonesplitterz or beastclaw raiders battletome have any named characters in them so unless that new power doesn't get a model and will be some sort of god or something that the beastclaw raiders whorship it might hint at something now.

I'm probably just barking up invisible trees here but back when The End Times was still going there was one particular rumor that turned out to be correct about everything else. It also mentioned that the new 'orc side' (which would be the GA: Destruction) would not only get Orcs, Goblins, Trolls and Ogers but also something new that used to be part of a different faction. I'm just thinking (hoping?) maybe that this is hinting at that?

>>
I can't think of a good unit size for Skryre Acolytes. For other Skaven units I would go for 20 a unit, but Skryre Acolytes cost twice as much as Clan Rats and are worse defensively. Minimum units of 5 would be good for target saturation but it feels kinda lame. Units of 10 look the best but have no positives otherwise, they have no staying power like units of 20 and aren't good for target saturation like MSU.
>>
>>48139841

>>
>>48142718
I would actually go for red myself, it would look the most regal out of the options. Unfortunately, sometimes the reason a lot of people go for a certain set of colours is because those colours look good together.

>>48142725
Don't forget that in AOS you don't have to make all of a unit's ranged attacks at the same target. That means that multiple units of 5 aren't necessarily any more survivable as a single unit of archers can shoot at more than one in their turn; and also that a unit of 20 acolytes don't have to risk overkill by all throwing at the same unit (although their shorter range may mean they'll have fewer targets than other missile units).
>>
completely new to age of sigmar (and fantasy in general, been playing 40k for a couple years now).

recommendations for starting an orruk army? specifically ironjawz. I bought a few boxes of brutes and a warboss on foot. payday is friday so i'm looking to grab gordrakk and what else should i use to flesh out the army?
what does a typical ironjawz army look like on the board, i can't find much online as far as people talking about their experience with them or any batreps featuring them.
>>
>>48142804
You have to decide how you split your shooting and then roll them at once, right?

I don't use any shooting units and no one i've played has any, but it would be pretty lame for something to roll each shot separately hoping to wipe out the target and then move on.

>>48142725
I'd say things like Acolytes or Censers need to be in 10 man units, because any fire or battleshock hits them and they are fucked if it's only 5 dudes
>>
>>48142827
Yeah, you pick the targets before rolling. It would indeed be silly otherwise.

>>48142940
I'd say 10 exactly to keep costs down.

Censers are really quite weak and sort of shit compared to Monks. Acolytes seem decent enough to spend the points out on 10, and i'm amusing you are using them as your battle-line, with a unit of Stormfiends as the 2nd pick.

I mean with these slightly old 5 pack old metal models saying 'You want [X]' is all well and good but i'm assuming no one even owns more than maybe 10 Acolytes or Censers until AoS points arrived (Because Globadiers were shitty in fantasy )

Skaven have a problem with their 'elite' infantry being 5 man units with shit or non-existant saves and only one wound a piece
>>
>>48143004
Yes, they're gonna be my battle-line units (no Stormfiends) and I have 20 of them. I was hoping that someone would say 10 per unit because I have enough for sub-2000 games then and I only need to buy 10 more for 2000 point games. I would have bought another 20 eventually if 20 was the best unit size for them but not 40, then I would've had to consider Stormfriends.
>>
>>48137744
Its changing the game because it's effectively a relaunch of the systen. The handbook is pretty much a holdover until everyone gets their codexes.
>>
>>48141704
Yeah, I think it would be a super smart business decision to have a constantly updated points value with buffs/nerfs so that 'the strongest' units change over time. Means nothing is OP or UP for too long and also means that people have a reason to buy new stuff. League does this super well, if you wanna follow whats OP you need to buy all the champs really because you never know which will become FoTM, but if you know X like the back of your hand then you also still do well.

My thought is that the Treelord Ancient is Leader/Behemoth, the Wyldwoods cannot be bought via warscrolls, Drycha needs to specify her gun and the list itself is boring as sin.
At least mix up the weapons of the Kurnoth Hunters a little, take some other units besides the Spite Revenants (or batallion them up, if you must).

Get some Ard boyz and the wierdboy. His version of the Foot of Gork is super good, and he gets casting bonuses for being surrounded by other orrucks.

I haven't spent much time looking at the destruction warlord traits or artifacts, but I've been told there are some really good combos in there
>>
>>48141630
Except nobody asked for the return of min-maxing magical items.

And there is a solid reason why warlord traits are random in 40k
>>
>>48143979

> Acorn brings him back after combat for D3 wounds
>If lucky can then replenish D6 wounds with Magic
I doubt they're will be any Smashfucker tier BS atm
>>
>>48143979
Yeah, but 40ks warlord traits may be mechanically more effective or impactful than the AoS ones.
Looking through the ones I've seen si far, they seem like small bonuses to help further flesh out your general (which is a big part of the game). For example, destruction can get a simple bonus wound. They really don't seem so bad, and its nice to see more options in an option light game.

I'm going to be running an aspiring deathbringer with spiteful destroyer and give him the chaos runeblade artifact. I like knowing I've customized my general, and can even model him with the artifact
>>
>>48142454
Nice, do you have any more?
>>
>>48144082
I don't mind wargear too much for that very reason, custom models and such.

But have you seen the death one? Pick the specific trait and get a free 5+ feel no pain type roll for pretty much everything in the force. Sure not everyone likes to power-game but generally most Death players will lean towards that.

Give one unit of Hunters Scythes. You want at least one unit of them at the front line to spread the Ancient's Command around. Also exchange the two min-size Dryad units for two min-size Tree-Rev units. That gives you enough points to squeeze the Outcasts Battalion in to make your Spities actually useful.

Until we get cool stuff like chaos god allegiances, you can bring them along if they suit you. I'm bringing a ton of khorne daemons with my bloodbound because letters are a great core choice and I have a skull cannon.

Lots of StD units have mark options for synergy.

Brayherd? Not at all, but neither is there any reason to take Tzeentch or Nurgle.

StD? Absolutely. Giving your StD Mark of Khorne lets all the awesome Khorne support Heroes target them with their buffs (like Gorebeast Chariots plus Bloodstoker).
Slaanesh not so much, though, but Slaanesh is supposed to get a release later this year, so... you never know.
>>
Fuck, I really hope we get chaos god allegiance lists. I'd bet that bloodbound, rotbringers, and at least arcanists will all get codexes at some point, but command traits, spell lores, and artifacts for things that share a god keyword would be amazing.

Would also let pesti-nurgle players have cool stuff, and I can run my fantasy KDK list.

On the plus side the new Warscroll in the book says a Wyldwood is "Up to 3" Citadel Woods. So you can get away with 2 bases, and I doubt anyone would blame you for not taking the trees. Hell, I'm just gonna cut around the base onto some foamcard and make my own bases anyway.
