Reminder text is not rules text.
When ~ enters the battlefield, exile cards from the top of your library until you exile a nonland card with converted mana cost 4 or less. You may cast that card without paying its mana cost. Then put all cards exiled this way that weren’t cast on the bottom of your library in a random order.
>>
>>48000026
I can do that.
>>
>>47999962
Wording needs a bit or work since reminder text isn't rules text, so it's not airtight. Cascade for UR seems okay.

Jealous. So jealous. I've commented on all these already, so not much sense in repeating them since none seem to have changed since then. Though I will reiterate that casting the front half of Nomad's Assembly as an attack trigger on a first striker is the epitome of a super safe and extremely strong play, especially at CMC4.

I costed it off of Govern the Guildless, which was at 5U and hit monocolored creatures, but also had a Forecast ability. It could probably be fine at 2UU though.

Inspired by one of the regular poster's Gheric Obliterator, if I'm remembering the card name correctly.

Counters a fetchland and draws a card (making it broken in modern/legacy/vintage), also too close to remand against non-creature centric decks (making it broken for most other potential formats).
>>
>>48001627
I think you might need the "most common" templating they used in Invasion.

Compare:
>Goham Djinn 5B
>Creature - Djinn 5/5
>1B: Regenerate Goham Djinn
>Goham Djinn gets -2/-2 as long as black is the most common color among all permanents or is tied for most common.

So possibly something like:

Why is countering fetchlands so bad? The damn things smooth play out so much that they could use a kick in the ass, couldn't they? I guess it's true that WotC really kinda hates attacking mana bases these days, so any kind of hate like that is a no-no. I guess I'll do something else with that slot.

>>
>>48005105
"2: ~ gains... *until end of turn*"
If you want a never ending ability, you have to stick a counter on it or something to deal with memory issues.

Keywords aren't capitalized.

P/T could probably be 4/4. Legendary tricolor creatures can afford being big.
>>
>>48005105
...until end of turn? Cause otherwise, you have memory issues to start. Also honestly, it doesn't NEED to be 5 color, but it really feels like it wants to be. If you did make it 5 color, it could be 4/4 at the very least, though, probably even 5/5. It depends on what you want from the card.

Meld is slightly better because with this and the Spirit of Night or whatever the black combo was called, you needed all the cards in your deck. Meld only requires the two, then they become the third, so it's a little easier to use.

I don't care for Meld at all because it feels like DFC's Megamorph. It's just DFC, but "bigger".

WUBRG always feels like a cop-out as far as mana costs go. It's basically admitting you couldn't be bothered to think of which colours the card would be and defaulted to all of them.
>>
>>48005283
Exactly.

>>48005294
I guess, except the damn thing uses keywords from every color, so really it kinda wants it. But yeah, with some cards it does feel like a cop out. Trust me, I am fairly reductionist when it comes to color identity in cards, so I wouldn't bandy five color suggestions around if I didn't think there was merit to it. If it were just some crazy ability, I would really try to figure out the minimum of colors it needed.
>>
>>48005263
It's more like black-bordered BFM, and for that alone I approve of it.
>>
>>48005318
Eh, kinda. BFM was charming because it was tongue-in-cheek. Meld is just lame to me.
>>
>>48005316
>I guess, except the damn thing uses keywords from every color
First Strike: R
Lifelink: W
Haste: R
Vigilance: W
Flying: W
Hexproof: G
Trample: G
It looks pretty okay under its original color identity. Flying's probably the one that could be argued to be a case for blue, but the others are all primaries in their color.
>>
>>48005364
It's a matter of opinion, I think. Whenever I see keyword soup cards it makes me think of five color stuff simply because that's what it feels like: taking all the colors and their primary keywords and mashing them up. I could do the same thing you did for all five colors and be just as valid, so it boils down to viewpoint mostly. Frankly it ain't my card so it can (and should) be how the creator ultimately wants it, though he added a few keywords to the five color one so now it just feels moreso to me, even though what he added still falls under RGW technically (menace and deathtouch).

Rewrite it to
"Search your library for a card and put it onto the battlefield face down. It gains haste until end of turn. Exile it at the beginning of the next end step. (A face down permanent is a 2/2 creature).

The rules already define facedown permanents as a 2/2 creature so you dont need to say it in the card text, except perhaps in reminder text.
>>
>>48002388
>>48002545
I could use Gnoll if I wanted, they're custom cards, I could have made up my own creature type. I went with Hound. Hyena is too specific, it would subvert average player expectation. Even if hyenas are technically members of the feline family, the average person looks at them and sees ratty little dogs. Gnolls look a lot like the Ainok, and so I followed Wizards' lead there.
>>48002410
No offense, anon, but it is my set, my block. I'm the one pouring hours of my free time into these cards. If I want to make a faction of red and black soldiers or use Hound instead of Hyena, I'm going to, and I really don't feel like that decision has any negative impact on the set or the cards whatsoever.

So, now that we have the final part of that Delver line, did anyone do anything similar with the Audrey II DFC that came up quite some time ago?

If not then I do have some ideas.

>One is a DFC that relies on Trample and him eating creatures with a tap effect to give himself +1/+1 counters, once you have X counters you can flip him over to a side which enters the battlefield with as many counters as he had originally, only difference is that by removing counters, you get 1/1 BG Plant Zombie Tokens with Undying. Unfortunately this side loses Trample, but keeps the eating people to pump itself gimmick.
>>
>>48008004
The other idea I had for a DFC based on this was that he eventually turns from a giant Plant Horror that shits out plantzombie tokens and eats people...into a Land that shits out plantzombie tokens and also re-animates your creatures from the graveyard as plantzombies.

That one would be significantly harder to pull off.

Sure and Anemones aren't Jellyfish. Creature types operate on a "close enough" basis. You shouldn't have creature types that are only on one card for the sake of accuracy, unless it is a joke like Brushwagg (which could've been an elemental beast by now).

>You can't just brush it off
I don't, I've made deep and comprehensive changes to my sets based on feedback. But I also started this block with several base concepts in mind, and I've built the sets upon those foundations. I have no way of knowing whether people commenting are aware of the things I'm purposefully doing differently, or if they just popped in and notice, "Hey, that's weird." Plus, a lot of those weird things are foundational, and I'm far too far into the block to change them with any sort of efficiency, nor would I want to just to confirm to aggregate design philosophy.
>>
>>48009604
The point was that the card they errata'd into being an Anteater was not actually even depicting an Anteater to begin with. When it was decided to reprint it in Eternal Masters they had the decision to either print Anteater as a type or revert the errata.

The difference here is that the decision singularly affected Prowling Pangolin and nothing else. Comparatively, "Jellyfish" as a type was not introduced for Clinging Anemones, it was a preexisting type they chose so as not to introduce a new type for corner cases.

Comparatively, you're not faced with the same dilemma. Hyena is a legal type. The only reason not to use it for your Gnolls is if it injures your pride.

Green is usually limited when returning things from the grave. In most cases it's to the hand. The fullest extent is when paired with black.

White also gets the grave to battlefield ability to some extent, though that's also limited to weaker creatures.

The wording seems right, if not a bit clunky, but I feel like this card should do at least a little something even if you control a creature with higher toughness.

>The wording seems right, if not a bit clunky, but I feel like this card should do at least a little something even if you control a creature with higher toughness.
I thought of it as a Super Timely Reinforcements, which doesn't do anything either if you're ahead on life and ahead on creatures.

I honestly wanted it to compare their toughness to your power, to semi-guarantee a kill if you decided to block with most/all of your board, but I figured most people would gloss over it and get confused when it doesn't read consistently.

I disagree, cards like eternal witness in green are the least limited when it comes to returning cards from the grave.

True. But, if Moldgraf Monstrosity is okay in green, then I don't see too much of an issue here. Especially since it is limited to creatures.

Discarding your hand to do things feels BR, nor WR (see Malfegor). But both W and B do appreciate sacrifice, so its probably fine.

You know that if you play the cards she exiles with her +1, she can no longer track them, right?

Or is it your intention that someone should spend five mana, plus who knows how many other resources to protect her, on this planeswalker that does nothing for four turns?
>>
>>48017447
I realize that she loses track of them if you cast them, as they're no longer exiled with her. You get the option of free card advantage, while also building towards something larger if you can't or don't cast the exiled card.
>>
>>48017242
I see where you're going with this, but from my own experience attempting to make a planeswalker that stores stuff in exile for use later (which I still haven't finished), I've noticed that making the ult the ability that uses the exiled cards is usually not a great decision because you're just making the situation worse when it gets disrupted. Even something as sort as flicker, you have to start all over again. With other planeswalkers, sure, it sucks that you have to start over again, but now not only do you need to get loyalty for the ult, the ult can't take advantage of what the walker had previously done. For example, Ajani Goldmane. If he gets flickered, you still have the benefit of having a higher life total from his +1 so that his ult is still better.

That said, I'm not really sure on abilities for this one. Could you please describe the characters so we have a better idea what to design for?

Fluffwise, she was a test subject in one of the faction's experiments with the rifts, which warp time and space. The experiment resulted in her spark igniting, and she escaped. The faction leader has no idea what actually happened; he just thinks she obtained a ton of power from the rifts, and he has been trying to replicate the results ever since, even experimenting on himself. I'll attach some cards from each set for reference.

Mechanically, she's very much exile-matters. I try to make a lot of her abilities around that "warping of time and space" theme.

If people can play a card of any color, there basically aren't any colors.
You could make the colored mana costs prohibitive, but then it isn't so much a full 5 color set as an extreme multicolored set, as you inevitably encourage people to focus on specific colors and ignore others.
There are only 2 ways I could see this working, either you make an effectively colorless set, or you complicate and smooth out the issue of playing/emphasizing colors, both could be interesting, but have huge problems associated with them on their own: an effectively colorless set would struggle with mechanical identity, and goodstuff cards that would be played in every deck and a more complicated mana system would be problematic because people often don't like thinking about mana fixing.
>>
>>48018940

You basically need to have 0 unambiguously good goodstuff or aggro card in the set.

>>
>>48019074
The easiest way to do this, even if it's probably a bad idea, is to take a look at Yugioh. In a game where you could technically play any card, the only "reason" to play specific cards is archetype support. In this case, instead you would be looking at Tribal support.

WUBRG commons are going to be... uh yeah. Interesting. Probably won't end up looking like this but here's a try.

What are the set themes for your set?
These just look like an incoherent mess.

I costed it for repeatability and with the fact that one could get a double-digit number of tokens out of it. What would you suggest?

I would've thought more blue/green for a mass polymorph style effect. Also should probably be a sorcery.
>>
>>48023102
I see it as more of a Hellcarver/Lord of the Void style effect.
>Also should probably be a sorcery.
I'm going to try to keep it as an instant.
>>
>>48023141
Any particular reason for instant other than pseudo haste?
>>
>>48023162
It lets you do fun things with it, like cast it in response to attacks to dig out a better blocker, or cast it in response to removal. Basically, it just seems more fun to play at instant speed.
>>
>>48023295
Eh, just seems to me like 99% of the time it'd be cast on an opponent's end step to swing for the win next turn.

Maybe, but that depends pretty heavily on your opponent's boardstate. Plus, at 7cmc, I'd like to keep players' options open.

Yeah, seriously, look at Mirrodin for help. It's ironic because it was a block that focused on colorless artifacts, but it really did push a WUBRG playstyle.

>I see it as more of a Hellcarver/Lord of the Void style effect.
Not that guy, obviously, but those are both very different from this. At the end of the day, this is always going to feel like a polymorph effect due to the need to sacrifice a creature. There's no getting around it. And Hellcarver is the standard Black "sacrifice everything for ultimate power" sort of card, while Lord of the Void uses the fact that Black can steal things from opponents (though usually when those things aren't on the battlefield). Lord is very different just because it hits opponents. If it hit you, it would be very different, and fit into a similar category as Carver.

For your card... Just the art alone makes me think of Wrath effects, though with your set, I'd want to do something that deals with counters. Uh... probably crazy, but let's try
>Remove all counters from all permanents. Put X X/X black Horror creature tokens onto the battlefield, where X is the number of counters removed this way.
Probably busted, but it's just a suggestion. Here's another
>Exile all creatures you don't control. Put an X/X black Horror creature token onto the battlefield, where X is the number of creatures exiled this way.
Or something like that.

The things that really come to mind are Wrath effects, Horror creature tokens (seriously, look at that art), and counter removal. You could also look into exiling from other zones, drawing cards, and lifeloss.

Should start at 4 loyalty counters.

You could do something like this for low-cost commons
>>
>>48016409
Except you get whatever instant you want as opposed to those only in the top 8 cards of your library and its not 10 mana all at once and provides utility over the entire game instead of just one turn. Think of collected company which for one more mana not only gives you creatures, but puts them onto the battlefield as well.
>>
>>48025316
Or he could just use Domain.
>>
>>48014838
If you intend it to be a recursion ability, the reminder text should say "exile it from your graveyard"

Since it's black, it shouldn't have the may clause and you can make it cheaper.
