Why are you not playing an inquisitor of Bane in the Forgotten Realms with the Bane class feature, the Extended Bane feat, a Bane Baldric, and Bane as a spell known?

>>47853298
He is, but honestly, there's no need to do it the way he is.
It's as simple as going "If a weapon is finesseable, then you can replace your Str score with your Dex score for all things related to that weapon, whether it be feats, ability DCs, pre-reqs, or damage and to-hit"
And then it's just Effortless Lace or a feat to get any weapon finesseable
What spell should I steal as a Samsaran Druid?
right now I'm thinking about...
Restoration
Break Enchantment
Divine Power
What should I grab for the last one? Miracle?
>>47853348
How would you define a finessable weapon? You still need to categorize them, be it choosing a weapon group or selecting the weapons in question
He's also giving the martials weapon finesse right off the bat, and making them choose other weapon groups as feats
>>47853386
A... weapon that says it can be used with weapon finesse, Anon.
http://theworldissquare.com/feat-taxes-in-pathfinder/
Here.
Weapon Finesse (Combat Proficiency)
Choose one weapon group from the following: light blades, close weapons, and natural weapons.
Prerequisites: Base attack bonus +1.
Benefit: You may use your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier on attack rolls.
Upon reaching base attack bonus +3, you add your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier to damage rolls.
Special: You can gain this proficiency as a feat multiple times. Its effects do not stack. Each time you take the feat, it applies to a new weapon group.
Martial* classes begin play with this Proficiency and need not have the prerequisite normally required. This Proficiency stacks with Finesse Training and Weapon Training. A full caster may purchase this Proficiency as a feat.
*martial includes full BAB classes as well as martial partial casting classes (ie, hunter, magus, inquisitor etc)
May have a look at finessing weapons as well
>>47853406
Finesse weapons should be more than just light weapons, they should at least be light blades, natural and close weapons, which anon is including
>>47853348
I like his idea slightly more than what you're going more, it's more appealing to me
>>47853479
But all of those are already finesseable?
>>47853498
No, swordcanes, bayonets, heavy shields, natural do not count as light weapons
I take it you are also counting exotic weapons into that mix as well?
>>47853479
>natural and close weapons
Both are light weapons
Unarmed strikes are also a light weapon.
>>47853498
Scizore, I'm not going through all of them
>>47853498
They're going by the fighter weapons groups.
>Playing fighter unironically
Will my DM throw books at me if I build my character for bludgeoning DEX-to-damage?
>>47853549
Have a look through the individual weapons in the category, bayonet, heavy shield, scizore
>>47853564
And when the fuck have you ever seen someone EVER use any of those in any way, let alone with dex?
>>47853540
natural weapons are considered light weapons, it says so right there in Weapon Finesse description.
>>47853574
>backpedaling
Yeah, attempted to but couldn't and now they can you fucking cuntnozzle
>>47853559
what, like a rogue using saps/unarmed strikes? What's wrong with that?
>>47853596
I'm thinking more along the lines of an actual bludgeoning weapon. Like a hammer with an effortless lace.
>>47853595
>Hurr getting dex to damage now makes fuckawful weapons viable
But that's wrong, you useless cuntweasle.
>>47853609
>my idea is ignored and shit so I'll just bag out the other guy's because no fun is allowed
>>47853603
>effortless lace
it's magic, anon. It's not like you're breaking the game rules, you're using a magic item to do the exact thing the magic item is intended to do.
though as far as i know, two-handing a dex-to-damage weapon won't give you 1.5x your dex on damage rolls, so at the end of all that it's still inferior to a str character. It does, however, let you TWF with greatclubs or some shit.
>>47853626
>though as far as i know, two-handing a dex-to-damage weapon won't give you 1.5x your dex on damage rolls
It does if you're an UCRogue, they're the one exception besides Mythic Weapon Finesse.
So you can add 1.5 dex to damage with a warhammer as a Rogue.
>>47853626
>>47853633
Moreover, you can pick up Thunder and Fang and add dex to damage with a fucking Earthbreaker.
>>47853348
Honestly having entire weapon groups finessable and having it stack with martial and finesse training!wat right out of the box isn't such a bad idea, especially since you don't have to purchase anything now that he's edited it such it's not exactly a feat per se but can be taken as one
>being corrupted/evil turns her White

So.

>>47853883

>>47853853
it may have more to do with her being a fucking vampire
>>47853895
... so being corrupted or evil turns her white, yes.
>>47853853
what's this from?
>>47853894
Oh great its perfect for me then.
>>47853910
Vampires are inherently pale creatures because they have no heartbeat and thus do not circulate blood. Even dusky people look different when they're clinically dead.
>>47853853
Who is this?
>>47853895
Are you implying Mwangi vampires turn white?
Wait, didn't Mythic (aka, PC+) have some iconics turn black?
Wow, black is power and white is evil.
>>47853853
Now lets be fair.
That's because that bitch is worshiping Zura and that slut is all about becoming a vampire.
>>47853927
Isn't Geb fucking dead and he's still black as fuck?
>>47853937
So is evil power grey or something?
>>47853937
>Goodest most kind and advanced nation is notafrica
>Baddest most evil nation is noteurope
>>47853955
Nope, that's still white, see Antipaladin.
Raw power turns you black because blackness is objectively better.
>>47853348
Finesse
With a finesse weapon you may use your Dex modifier instead of your Str modifier to attack rolls.
A finesse weapon is from the light blade, natural and close weapon groups.
How's that?

>>47853603
Effortless Lace doesn't work with Bludgeoning Weapon. It specify Slashing or Piercing weapon.
>>47853633
>>47853641
URogue's Finesse doesn't work with those weapon since it ask for "a type of weapon that can be use with weapon finesse". A TYPE.
It doesn't matter if you can finesse with it via other ability or magic item, if that weapon type isn't normally finessable by itself.
Aquatic is the most underrated bloodline for sorcerers.

So I need to send around large amounts of mercenaries. To do this I am using Greater Teleport.
Each time I do this I need to pay for the return trip of the caster, so I get the following:
7*(number of passengers)+2*10, the two being the caster going there and back. Meaning with a minimum level caster for the spell I get 13 per (level 14, and he comes back with a CL1 Greater Teleport). This costs 1050gp.
Using this as a base for travel costs I then try and figure out the cost of mercenaries.
Elite Archers cost 380gp and Elite Soldiers cost 330gp. So 710gp for 10, and if 50% of soldiers fall into either category we consider it 71gp per soldier. With the 1050gp budget for 13 passengers that is 80gp 7sp 9cp per passenger.
This totals as 151gp 7sp 9cp per mercenary transported. This cost per goes down slightly if I can find a higher than level 13 wizard, and goes down greatly if I build capital to get the mercenaries (using downtime rules) rather than pay up front.
If I somehow find a CL20 teleport and always go by building capital the minimum cost is 112gp 8sp 7cp per mercenary.
Does these figures seem reasonable with the system? Honestly I am treading odd territory with this.
>>47854844
What do you mean by "decent (not good) saves"? There's only two progressions, unless you went and made up a third one. Did you do "all bad, but Charisma to saves" or something like that?
>>47855032
I just added +1 to Fortitude and Reflex desu senpai
>>47855022
>he comes back with a CL1 Greater Teleport
whut?
How would you go about making a Cavalier archetype that accurately portrays a Bretonnian Grail Knight?
>>47854844
Nope, it's too weak, weaker than fighter. Also because a primary Int class since it no longer needs Cha for casting.
>>47855032
>>47854892
>>47854876
This is for a super low magic setting BTW, as in the only magic user is a literal dinosaur
>>47855086
He cast Greater Teleport to come back, but only on himself, so he cast it at CL1. You can cast at under your CL and you can cast under the minimum level requirement to learn a spell. (Cast a 1d6 fireball at level 15 or something).
>>47855132
>You can cast at under your CL and you can cast under the minimum level requirement to learn a spell. (Cast a 1d6 fireball at level 15 or something).
Where does it say that?
>>47855157
Under the rules for spells I believe.
>>47855179
"You can cast a spell at a lower caster level than normal, but the caster level you choose must be high enough for you to cast the spell in question, and all level-dependent features must be based on the same caster level."
So... no, you can't cast Greater Teleport at CL 1.
Can someone post the sorcerer mutation from magic tactics?

If you're making that claim based on looking at the weapon groups on the SRD, keep in mind that includes all weapons written into the game, which means that if you don't want a certain splatbook of weapons, you can keep them out.
Besides, this is a houserule for my game. You don't have to use it.

+19 to escape artist
+17 to disable device
+17 to sleight of hand

There is in fact a spell that's basically sunlight bolt.
It seems to be a cleric/oracle-only spell, however.
I'd suggest you look up the "oradin" (oracle/paladin) class combo - you'd be able to utilize that and other holy spells while fighting in the front lines and healing your allies as you did so.

I'd say it's already incredibly high (almost too high)

Sup pfg. Was looking for some advice.
my current group just got a hold of PoW material and wants me to run something wuxia based using the different styles and such. I was wondering how balanced are PoW styles compared to BoNS material since I was thinking of possibly allowing my players access to those as well.
>>47858409Sure why not.
>>47854844
Go look at PoW:E's Rubato.

>>47858583
Discipline design in PoW (and especially in PoW:E) is much stronger, in my opinion. The disciplines are much more thematic, and more mechanically consistent. And, of course, there are a lot more of them, covering a wider range of concepts.
The main ToB discipline you lose out on is Diamond Mind, which runs into issues with Concentration not being a skill anymore. The rest have good analogs (probably getting many ToB names wrong)
Desert Wind: Mix of Elemental Flux and Scarlet Throne (energy and mobility)
Divine Spirit: Silver Crane, with a litle in Black Seraph (two more focused alignment discs as opposed to one general alignment disc)
Iron Heart: Scarlet Throne (master swordsman)
Setting Sun: Fool's Errand
Shadow Hand: Veiled Moon and Steel Serpent
Stone Dragon: Primal Fury (hit it in the face)
Tiger Claw: Thrashing Dragon
>>47858719
>>47858711
Thanks for the info guys. was wondering weather or not to include them. I'll probably just leave BoNS out then and focus on building fluff around the PoW styles. I had the idea to basically make kingdoms based off each style and then have the players go wild on some magical kung fu adventure. Not sure if I'll be able to pull it off, but heres hoping. Any advice on running combat encounters vs an entire group of Initiators? was thinking plenty of mooks ala Dynasty Warriors with generals and other famous warriors acting as boss fights and such. Figured I'd take inspiration for Dark Souls for that such thing though
>>47858583
>BoNS
What is that?
>>47858928
Book of the Nine Swords, also known as the Tome of Battle, was the book that first introduced the rules that were ported over by DSP to create PoW
>>47858948
Ah, right.
I'm just more used to ToB as the acronym.
>>47858956
Yeah, full acronym is ToB:BoNS. WotC got fancy towards the end.
>>47858918
That depends on what disciplines people are using. Most discs are actually not very good against a lot of mooks (you can only counter 1 attack a round, a lot of strikes are single target). Generally, lots of mooks are actually one of the better ways to fight initiators.
For boss fights, give them multiple counters a round (but preferably a lower chance of success, more like a 30-50% instead of a 70-90%), and focus more on debuffs for strikes and boosts. adding damage vs PCs tends to exacerbate rocket tag, which I guess is fun for some people, but I personally dislike it.
>>47859048
Ok then. Good to know. I actually like less enemies at a time as well. That actually gives me an idea I once saw as well. Expand on my kingdoms idea but base the rp out of a central hub city where all the kingdoms merge, so I could use more hidden schools, and back alley brawls and throw in some intrigue shit as well. always love that crap. /tg/ had a thread I remember from a long time ago about basing a city around martial arts and the different zodiac signs as well. maybe ill see if I can put that to good use.
>>47853294
>implying I'm not
I make sure to target the spines of every humanoid enemy I face via flanking.
>>47859159
You could go full Ravnica with this. Each discipline being a guild. Hell, if you use DSP's premade groups half the work is done for you already.
>>47859159
The other thing worth noting is that most initiators have enough maneuvers to focus on 2 disciplines at once, and some can even manage 3. Focusing all your maneuvers in one discipline is generally a weaker option because you end up overspecialized.
>>47859224
>Focusing all your maneuvers in one discipline is generally a weaker option because you end up overspecialized.
I like that thematically, though. Especially for NPC's.
>>47859214
>>47859224
Good Ideas. I think I'll use the ravnica idea to. That shit would be cool. Plenty of opportunity for all the stuff I like there. Thanks for the help anons. Now just have to figure out what the guilds (fighting schools?) would be like and what other things they might control (banking, police, etc.)
>>47859214
Actually, thinking about this, what would it be like if any given character could only use a single discipline ever? Maybe have a special feat to grab a single maneuver from another discipline, but apart from that they're all in on one. Would that promote more interesting maneuver and discipline design?
>>47859263
Now, if you go the Ravnica route, you can full out mix 2 disciplines into one "guild"
Chimera Soul + Unquiet Grave = Monsters
Mithral Current + Scarlet Throne = Duelists
Silver Crane + Black Seraph = Theologians
Eternal Guardian + Cursed Razor = Thugs
Fool's Errand + Broken Blade = Fight Club
Veiled Moon + Steel Serpent = Assassins
Elemental Flux + Riven Hourglass = Mad scientists
And so on
>>47859297
You could seperate disciplines out by how much utility vs offense they have in them, then let people pick one "main" discipline and one "utility" discipline.
>>47859297
I think Primal Fury fits monsters too, maybe better than Unquiet Grave, which I could see being matched with Black Seraph to double down on evil.
>>47859329
Perhaps you could break it down even further. People could build their own school. They choose strikes from one style, boosts from another style, and then counters and stances from another school. doubt it would work but it's an idea.
>>47859329
I've actually done something similar for convenience of choice, but I separate into Style disciplines and Form disciplines. Form discs are the ones that determine your weapon choice
Scarlet Throne (einhander), Broken Blade (unarmed), Primal Fury (two handed), Tempest Gale/Solar Wind (ranged), Piercing Thunder (polearms), Thrashing Dragon (Two Weapon Fighting), Iron Tortoise (shields), and Steel Serpent (light weapons and poison)
Then the Style discs are the enhancers to your combat style.
>>47859364
There's a lot of ways to do the combinations, I was just listing off some combinations that sprang into my head.
>>47859288
I've done that before. Chimera Soul on an abberant Aegis for full shape-shifting goodness. There were obvious gaps in what he could do, but more often than not I was able to find a workaround. Felt kind of like playing an alchemical from Exalted, if that makes any sense.
>>47859485
A Lunar might be more apt.
>>47853434
Now fix your weapon focus rules
>>47853434
This excludes some light weapons. Was that intentional?
>>47859485
Cool how did you end up dividing the styles if you don't mind me asking? think that i might allow my players to build their own unique styles while stating the the originals are based off the guilds in the city. just throwin ideas around at this point. Honestly the more I think about this idea the more I want to DM it.
>>47857864

>>47855087

Something like Pummeling Style, maybe?
Stregone Anon poking in. Someone in my group has been obsessed with VMCs, so I slapped together one for the Stregone on a whim. It's probably a bit ridiculous, but VMCs are all over the place so fuck it, it might as well be something fun and useful.
VMC Stregone:
3rd: Gain Mystic Bolts as a level 1 Stregone, choosing one element. You do not gain extra base damage dice, and you cannot gain another element for your bolts. You may take the Stregone’s Focused Bolts feature as a feat after 5th level.
7th: Gain a Stregone Knack as a 3rd level Stregone. This does not qualify you for the Extra Stregone Knack
11th: Gain the Stregone’s Piercing Bolts feature, treating your Stregone level as -3. You do not gain the extra piercing effect of having a main element.
15th: Gain a Stregone Knack as an 11th level Stregone.
19th: Gain the Stregone’s Break Through Immunity class feature, and increases the piercing effect of the Piercing Bolts feature by 5 (end result of 20 piercing)
Still debating that Ofuda Divine Casting archetype, still not sure what the goal for the Psionics archetype should be.And since someone is inevitably going to ask "what the fuck is a Stregone?": https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GVTXsAAdkxpLjQFfvYzuME3lVyuhAU2chxXrK46vlbA/edit?usp=sharing
SHIT GUYS BETWEEN ALL BEING QUIET ON THE PAIZO FRONT, SHAREANON DROPPING BOOKS OFF DAYS, WEEKS EVEN, BEFORE THEY COME OUT, AND THE CLEANERS DROPPING OUT OF EXISTENCE FOR A WHILE THERE, QANON HASN'T HAD MUCH OF AN EXCUSE TO DROP THE HELL ON BY. Golly, this Royal class is actually pretty cute.
Also, anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but it also seems to be pretty solidly T3 as well. Anyone find anything bad or abusable with it?

The best debuffing class is the witch. The best buffer is a Evangelist Cleric (to my knowledge).
What kind of witch specifically is best debuffer?
Seems to be the following would be the best group:
>debuffing/buffing
Time Patron Scarred Witch Doctor
>buffing/battlefield control
War Domain Evangelist Cleric
>battlefield control/damage
Exploiter Illusionist Wizard
>damage/debuffing
Conjugation Exploiter Wizard
>>47861012
>best debuffer
>best buffer
>not mentioning dual cursed oracle
>>47861033
Do oracles outpace witches for debuffing? Or Evangelists for buffing? What do they offer that these don't?
>>47861060
Honestly, oracles don't. the Cleric spell list was made with having access to all of them in mind, and it becomes a shitload worse when you don't have that.
I think he's specifically talking about that one spell I can't remember the name of that puts the effects of your curse on your target, but that alone does not a debuffing class make.
>>47861012
Now that I'm thinking about it, there's also sensei monks, who are amazing at party-wide buffs, especially when combined with other archetypes like monk of the four winds
>>47860983
SYLPHU IN GENERAL ARE SHY AND RETICENT, BECAUSE THEY DON'T FEEL SAFE EXPRESSING THEIR FEELINGS, AND A NOBLE PROBABLY EVEN MORE SO BECAUSE OF THE BURDEN OF LEADERSHIP. BUT THEY LOVE LISTENING TO OTHERS TALK.
YOU'D PROBABLY BE BEST OFF WITH SOMETHING LIKE A HALF-ELF, HALFLING, ETHUMION, TIEFLING.. SOMEONE WHO ALSO FEELS LIKE AN OUTSIDER, BUT IS STILL TALKATIVE, EVEN CHARMING, SO THE SYLPHU DOESN'T FEEL PRESSURED TO ANSWER, JUST LISTEN TO THEIR STORIES.
FOR CLASS.. SOMETHING TRUSTWORTHY AND SOLID, SO THEY FEEL SAFE CONFIDING IN YOU IF THEY EVER NEED TO TALK TO SOMEONE. DIVINE CLASSES WORK WELL THANKS TO OUR PRECONCEIVED CULTURAL NOTIONS OF THE PRIESTHOOD, BUT ANYTHING WISE OR KNIGHTLY CAN WORK THE SAME
BE KIND. BE HER FRIEND FIRST. IT MIGHT NOT GET TO COURTING AND THAT'S FINE BECAUSE EVEN THE FRIENDSHIP OF A SYLPHU IS A TREASURE..QANON MAY HAVE BEEN BIASED BY THAT ONE STORY ABOUT THE HALF-DROW PALADIN AND THE SYLPHU. IT'S STILL HER FAVOURITE. SHE MET THAT GUY! WE TALK SOMETIMES!
>>47861141
It gets better when you remember that Sensei doesn't trade out Abundant Step, which is a Ki-powered class ability. You can reposition your entire party as a move action.
>>47861239
Monk of the Four Winds trades out abundant step though
>tfw no one will tell you how shit your homebrew is
>tfw you don't know whether that means its fine or turbo shit
>>47861525
Happens on /pfg/. We claim to love homebrew but are unwilling to help any along. Mostly we're just hypocrites.
>>47861540
I have no idea how to help with most homebrew aside from editing spelling and grammar, actually I may be able to help with the stregone since I've looked into the related classes enough but I'm not sure
>>47861540
I usually do it when I have access to an actual computer (not often) and /pfg/ has helped me on other homebrew projects in the past.
It just takes a few threads or so.
>>47861401
True, and it's a hefty tradeoff between teleporting everyone or giving them three standard actions.
>>47861525
A lot of homebrew suffers being ignored because /pfg/ is like a fickle muse. If it isn't interested in it en-mass, nobody cares. Otherwise people will obsess with it.
t. I posted at least half a dozen homebrew ideas before anyone said anything about it, and even then people narrowly focused on certain parts of what finally got any love at all
>>47861012
>Conjugation Wizard
I uh... I think you mean conjuration?
>>47861918
Post it here, as a fellow homebrewer, I'll give it a viewingin exchange look at mine, its the blood reaver in this thread
>>47853434
I have to say I don't care for all this dex to everything nonsense, it already accounts for so much while stats like str and con account for so little.
I would never allow it into my games unless there were reasonable means to make any stat exchangeable. But at that point why even bother with stats?
>>47861989
Most of it was before I started dumping stuff into GDocs, but I do have one left that I was going to cannibalize parts of it for the latest homebrew. It was an alternative construct companion for the Promethean Alchemist that threw the idea of "combat creature" out the window in favor of "bonus skill monkey and crafting assistant".

What you looking at bro, Paladins?
Cavalier is what you're after. They choose a specific Order to be a part of, which gives them different abilities.
Orders range from normal chivalric shit, to being the world's biggest blowhard, to being a destroyer of worlds, to being FLEX MAN, WRESTLEKNIGHT.
>>47863057
>Get inkling to play Knight in 3.5
>What you looking at bro?
>>47863057
There was a knight class in 3.5, mostly ran on being a sort of weirdly durable bard with no casting.
Interesting, but I think you could do it without transferring over with just cavalier or even magus.
Favorite thing was the capstone that let you spend not-ki-pool uses to continue acting no matter what your health was as long as your body was still vaguely whole because JOLLY CO-OPERATION!
So yeah, warder.
>>47863187
Reminds me of... one of the Order of the Beasts. They have two.
One makes you incapable of dying due to HP damage as long as you can keep killing hard enough.
>>47863187
Knight did challenging and tanking opponents, not much else - not even healing, so it needed other people to pick healers for it to work. d12 hit dice only go so far when the class is actively trying to die.
>>47862140
It's the only way for some classes to deal reasonable damage reliably

there are many options but none of them involve being the actual warlock.
So guys thri-kreen right, got 4 arms and shit, got multiattack and shit too. What are some ideas you guys would use to take advantage of that?
A reach weapon and a normal weapon non reach weapon?
4 Javelins?
Plain Jane quad wielder?
Sneak attack murderbug?
Double bows? 4 crossbows?
Mount and 4 lances?

Low points
>+3 bonus bonus shield AC, and pretty much have to use a shield
>Mounted combat as bonus feat with no other support
>Lose a not-ki-pool use if you hit a flat footed opponent or a helpless one for lethal damage
>Can't get flanking bonuses

The 10th level Warder thing for Defensive Focus...
Does that make it LEGITIMATE Difficult Terrain, or just 2x movement cost?
Because you can't 5-foot step or charge/run in Difficult Terrain.
>>47863592
I mean I don't know about that, I'm just trying to have fun with a new character after my bard, who I used every single feat he got on leadership so he could have a new wife. He was quite frankly a useless character after taking leadership like 5 times for 5 wives and spending all his money on them.

Alternatively, ask if you can be that "totally not a warlock" class that one anon made.

Joke's on you, I'm playing an agent of CIA with the CIA class feature, the Extended CIA feat, a CIA Baldric, and CIA as a spell known.
Pretty new to Pathfinder and I'm trying to build a necromancer via an Oracle of Bones. What's a good feat to take? Already have an ability similar to Spell Focus: Necromancy through an Elf racial, though I'm considering taking Greater Spell Focus.
Intending to play as a skills person. If it helps stats are STR12 DEX10 CON13 INT18 WIS16 CHA16
>>47863789
>do shit like bite your head off when mating
actually, its been observed by experimenting with mantises in captivity that they actually don't eat their mate's head when there's enough available food in the environment, since the head eating is done to give energy to the mama and developing young.
>gouge your bowels out and lay eggs in them
That's only a particular kind of bedbug, and they're horrible creatures to begin with, and should not be considered the norm.
>>47863720
Nigga, that's the main reason most homebrew doesn't get looked at. There's a ton of things that have an extremely narrow focus that only the person making it probably has any interest in it. You'll never know if anyone else cares unless you throw it out there from time to time.Plus that shit was fun as fuck to make.
>>47863801
Define skills person. Also >18 int oracle
Are you trying to raise an army of the dead? Make a giant bone mecha to fight from? Suck out souls, put them in paperweights, and give them out as party favors? Suck the life out of people? Wear a skull bra and suck dick? Just plain suck?

Juju Oracle is one of the best necromancers. I'd suggest switching your mystery to that. Even if you don't like the flavor of "AUEAUEA <throws frog but is actually casting bestow curse> UUBUGUBUBULI <reads some entrails to get a bonus to next roll>" you can pretty safely re-flavor it in many ways. Or you can go full witch doctor if you're into that.
Regardless, Juju is an AMAZING option for necromancy on Oracle. Like, it's super duper good.
Regardless of what mystery you go for, I'd suggest the Noble Scion (of War) feat to pump your initiative - as a caster, going first is very important. After that, look into getting Charnel Soldiers and a good teamwork feat (my character uses Escape Route)
Also, your most important stat is Charisma. You use it for spells but also for wrestling control of other people's undead or controlling your own if you've got intelligent ones. It should be your highest stat. Also, you want to put a good amount of points into DEX so that you can hit ranged touch spells - there are plenty and they are all very good and you want them to land properly.
If you want to be a "skills person" an Oracle, especially a necromancer, is not a good option. If you'd like to be a "necromancer-esque" skill monkey, I suggest the Dirge Bard. It's a Bard, so it's quite good at being the party skill-check-roller, and it eventually gains some very flavorful necromantic capacity with Dance of the Dead. It's definitely nowhere near as powerful as the Oracle, but Bard is by far better at skills.
Generally, though, as an Oracle, you'll be able to just magic stuff away and won't need skills.
Super-duper ultra pro tip:
Convert your character to a half-elf for the Paragon Surge feat (if your GM allows it)! It's absolutely amazing and you'll love having it.
>>47862140
And this?>>47853973
>>47863859
Someone who knows stuff. Have a fair bit invested in knowledge skills, also bluff, disguise and heal as I'd play the character as someone pretending to be a doctor with a few skeletons disguised as assistants.
As for role, something more of a generalist. I'd rather have a small amount of more powerful undead, tricky as it is to bind intelligent undead. Party support would be nice too. Looked at Juju Oracle but didn't like the flavour.
>>47863993
Dammit, Paragon Surge is a spell, not a feat. My mistake.
>>47863993
>Juju
How does Juju differ from Bones though?
>>47863479
dealing damage reliably doesn't justify breaking the system by making dex the only stat that matters.
On top of that just about any one can do damage reliably so are you being ironic?
>>47853973
>>47864017
Redundant.
Just wondering, can a Barbarian execute PoW Maneuvers while raging?
My sons have left, so I'm back, for a certain value of 'back'. I apologize in advance if I'm snappish, unresponsive, or drunk.
In much better news, check pic related. Should be out in electronic form within the week, with print to follow.
>>47864120
Yes. In fact, the Primal Disciple Barbarian is, arguably, all about initiating maneuvers while raging.
>>47864120
Yes unless they require a skill check he's forbidden from using.
>>47863763
Put a few words in your document.
Right now it looks mostly like a side grade -- Trading spells for maneuvers is typically a downgrade and a bloodrager is already damaging enough to not really need it.
Vitae is a neat thing, but you'll probably want to unpack the wording instead of just referencing it. This will make it easier to understand.
Bloodlines to disciplines is neat
You might want to check wording on spellcasting, spell like abilities, and the lack of being a spellcaster for how their spells work. I don't know if it'll be an issue, but it'd be something to look into.
>>47858718
>>47861989
Alright, so I had to go actually look up the crimson countess because I never checked it before, but I gotta say. I dig this. The way you use Vitae is cool, and I was never a very big fan of the bloodrager's casting anyway.
>>47864138
>>47864140

>>47864151
This anon >>47864138 kind of took my only complaints right out of my mouth, so I don't really have much to add. Aside from putting in how Vitae works to avoid cross-referencing and clarifying the wording for spellcasting, the only thing I see wrong is clarification on which Vitae abilities from the Countess work with the bloodrager. Some of them work (spending vitae to recover a maneuver), but some rely on the Claim mechanic so you'll either need to ignore them or replace them with something if the Reaver is intended to gain any of those extra abilities.
>>47864082
Juju has way better bonus spells.
Juju has Spirit Vessels.
Juju has Dream Haunter.
Juju has Natural Divination.
Juju has False Death.
Honestly, Juju is worth it just for Spirit Vessels, but the great bonus spells and those other three revelations (perhaps more if you're into 'em, I just picked the best ones) win out bigtime over Bones. I mean, what's the best revelation Bones gets? Undead Servitude? Juju has that. Spirit Walk, maybe? Juju has that too.

Contessa, Grammaton Cryptic. Youngest of the Scum at just over 16, wanted in eight nations for serial arson and mass murder (these are related). Aisling keeps her under control by distracting her with new and exciting projects and shoveling gold into her lab.
>>47864229
Hmm. I don't quite understand how the system works, but my main concern is that in picking Juju over Bones I'd lose a bit of versatility in undead, since Juju can only raise the Juju zombies. As Bones I like the idea of having a wider variety of undead creatures using Create and Command Undead, possibly even dominating intelligent undead or raising fallen party members as a ghetto resurrection. Would any of that still be possible with Juju?
Let's say there's a flying grappler, and he's about to do charizard's seismic toss/flying piledriver. What would be the optimal way to perform it?
Lifting the enemy to the air up to the highest possible point, then tossing him down
Lifting the halfway the grappler's air speed then dive back to earth using the enemy as a cushion so he soaks the two characters damage
Or lifting the enemy all the way all the way up then letting them fall and use the enemy as cushion as well
>>47864357
No, no, no. Juju zombies are absurdly powerful zombies you can create at a very high level that are basically the creature as when it was alive except it's dead and under your control (as in, you can make it cast spells and shit, it doesn't lose anything).
Juju has absolutely no limitation on what kind of undead it can create and in fact has more variety since it gets access to juju zombies way earlier than Bones would.
The only reason you'd take Bones over Juju is because you can't re-flavor the Juju stuff but don't want to be a witch doctor. Any sane GM would let you re-flavor it, though.
I guess Bones has merit for a battle-caster type character, but as a Necromancer you have no business doing that when you have tons of minions who'll happily get in the melee for you.
>>47864419
Use that one Fool's Errand maneuver - kick the enemy into the air, follow suit, then smash them down. They take damage as if it's a normal attack but also take fall damage and probably land prone or get dazed or whatever.
>>47864214
>>47864138
I just did things for bloodline spells. This better?
>>47864322
Yo Gareth, were you the one who made Crimson Countess?
>>47864357
Nothing's stopping you from taking Create Undead as a normal 6th level spell, anon. Juju mystery grants that shit to you like 3 levels early, but only for juju zombies.
>>47864419
Lift the enemy all the way up, throw them down, and then land on them. That deals more damage overall.
>>47864322
I imagine "these are related" also applies to their level.

>>47864420
Ohh, I understand now. I thought Juju zombies were restricted to humanoid zombies only, but that makes way more sense now. Thanks for the clarification!

You can make a Juju zombie of a dinosaur or whatever all you want!
Except it's kind of a waste, really - you should only make juju zombies of stuff with really powerful special abilities, like gorgons or dragons or demons or humanoids with class levels, etc.
There's almost no difference between a juju zombie lion and a normal zombie lion, except the juju zombie costs more GP in onyx.
>>47864520
Jujube Zombies.
>>47864462
I was responsible for Countess and Ravenlord, yes. Did you need something?
>>47864484
Well, in a sense, yeah. One of the things Scum of Shatterdown is meant to communicate is just how terrifying mid and high-level adventurers really are. Aisling took over a city-state and in all honesty part of it was simply that almost no one had the personal power to really stop her. There's other moments in the story where you can see them pull the kind of tactics and preparations you'd expect out of a player character group, things their opponents just weren't rated to handle.
>>47861983
Nah friend, a Conjugation Wizard. All their spells use semantic components.
>>47864552
>mid and high-level adventurers
What range, exactly, constitutes this?
Is throwing a dragon at 9 level 3s a fair thing to do?
Felt like challenging them, the CR is 7, against 9 of those guys.
>>47864577
I generally define 7-13 as the mid levels, with 14-20 as the high ones. The Scum top out at Aisling herself (14).
>>47864584
Depends.
If it can oneshot them with average rolls, it's a fucking horrible idea.
If it has decent DR, it's a horrible idea.
If it has room to fly around, it's a horrible idea unless there's a bunch of ranged characters in the party.
Otherwise, they'll hack that fucker to pieces thanks to action economy.
>>47864552
Yes, were there ever any plans for giving Vitae to other classes/options in the future, or was it just a one and done thing for the Countess?
I ask because I'm working on an Initiating archetype for the Bloodrager that uses its own pool of Vitae for its own shenanigans and was wondering if there might be more stuff in the future, or maybe to just pick your brain to see what was the thought process for creating Vitae to begin with.If you wanted to see it yourself, its mentioned up thread as the "blood reaver"
Blood Raver anon here, gonna go shower, check up on the thread afterwards, then go to sleep since I have field labwork to do tomorrow.
Keep critiquing and making suggestions and I'll try to read and get to them in the morning. You've all been real helpful so far, and have really shown me how I can improve as an archetype designer.
I really appreciate all you guys. Stay honest and hard my friends
>>47864746
oh course I forget my pic
>>47864616
I'm going to give the honest answer here, because I feel my honesty may be of use to your project. So, here's the design process that created Crimson Countess.
> Make harbinger
> Testers: "Oh man this is cool but can there be more Claim stuff?"
> "No guys, maneuvers are the star. Claim would just be getting in the way. I like it where it is."
> Testers: "But Claim is cool, it should be the center of the class and take up more actions."
> "No guys, /maneuvers are the star/."
> Testers: [Claim demands intensify]
> Design Countess
> "TAKE IT YOU SAVAGES, TAKE IT AND CHOKE, THIS IS WHY I SAID IT WASN'T GOING TO HAPPEN."
And now we have Countess.
>>47864584
>running a game with 9 players...
In regard to fairness I'm not sure. Your APL is 3 so a CR 7 is technically unfair. They may take it on action economy alone but more than likely some of them will die. Especially if you're talking about a true dragon that actually uses tactics.
>>47864577
Depending on your class the setting's basic economic and political powers can fall the fuck apart anywhere from 5th to 12th.
Imagine a character with DR 4/-, AC 30, Resistance 5 to each energy type, average saves of +12 total and dealing 3-5 attacks of 2d6+12 per attack.
The average level 1 warrior can only hit him on a 20, will not crit unless he double-20s when doing so, loses 4 of the probably d8+2 he'd deal WHEN he finally hits against this guy with over 120hp, dies in a single hit and thus could cause small great-cleave chain reactions.
This half-assed build probably murders entire villages with only light wounds, and causes a major fucking incident in large cities even though he'll fall.
We're not talking initiators here. We're not talking full-casters. This is shit any CRB-Only martial could pull off.
If a level 1 orc barbarian with power attack and a scythe crits you, you need to be like 10th level to have a better than even chance of survival.
>>47864781
APL+4 is considered to be an even match for a party of 4 as far as lethality is concerned.
>>47864819
Average damage (assuming 22 base Str, 26 when raging) is 80. Assuming average hp and a 14 Con, level 10 d10 HD class is still bleeding out (-1)
>>47864780
>> "No guys, maneuvers are the star. Claim would just be getting in the way. I like it where it is."
Didn't you guys make a ton of feats for the Claim mechanic..
>>47860002
Wait, so how official is this on a scale from 1-10?
I want to be the prettiest fucking princess, but my GM is pretty strict on what counts as homebrew.
>>47860002
Hey QANON do you have the hell knight book?
>>47864856
Yes, which is a much different idea from baking it directly into the class in place of the stuff that supports its combat style.
>>47863775
This anon has the right of it.
>>47864862
It has zero officialness.
Due to the nature of OGL, the only difference between third party, even third party like DSP's stuff, and homebrew, is that one is selling it.
>>47864819
>>47864848
This is why good DMs never have enemies use scythes, even though the weapon isn't very desirable for PC use. Too uncontrolled and swingy, the encounter is a slot machine where one of the rare things that happen is guaranteed death.
>>47864917
ah, damn.
Alright.
What's a full BAB class that goes well with Vigilante Stalker?
>>47864947
Aegis
>>47864938
Still, having things in a nice fancy PDF as opposed to something like a googledoc is that it makes it SEEM more official.
After all, it looks nice! How could it NOT be?!
>>47864841
APL+3 is an epic encounter already.
4 level 3 PCs is hardly evenly matched with a CR7 dragon. 9 Just might, or if the 4 PCs had more wealth/gear than what's average for their level.
The exp isn't worth it either, since you have to divide it 9 ways. A young black dragon for example is only worth 3,200 and between them that's 355 each.
>>47864977
A PC is considered to be a CR equal to his character level +1. Four PCs are CR APL+4. An APL+4 encounter is meant to give them about a 50/50 chance at winning using all of their daily resources.
An APL+3 "Epic" encounter is meant to be good for a boss fight at the end of a dungeon or something, so that the PCs have their resources drained when they go into the fight in the first place.
If there will be more than one encounter in the day, APL+4 is way too hard, but if it's the only one for the day, it's a great way to challenge a party, and with 9 players they'll rip any single enemy apart just by action economy.
>>47864957
I thought that was a given. I know I sound like that guy but literally everything goes okayish with aegis. Was hoping for something a little more unique.
>>47865041
Although with +4 it SHOULD be warned that there are certain abilities that can bypass the available protections or recoveries.
>>47865071
Living Legend then.
>>47864947
Slayer?
>>47865095
That's true, which is why you should design encounters carefully with the party's strengths and weaknesses in mind.
>>47858718
> Giant image taking up space in the doc
Please no.
> That opening fluff paragraph
Good ideas buried in poor phrasing and word choice. Fluff may be optional but as the community - including /pfg/ - will demonstrate over and over, that doesn't stop shitty fluff or badly-presented fluff from turning people off to something.
>Bloodline-dependent discipline selection
It hurts me. It hurts me so much. Leaving aside my flavor-based objections to that, future-proofing this would/will be a bitch.
> Recovery
I think you're meaning for this to remove the fatigue the way Primal Disciple does but you forgot words.
> Bloodrage
First: there's a sidebar about rage and maneuvers. In short, you can use any maneuvers while raging, even if they require a forbidden skill check, and you can make those checks as part of a maneuver.
Second: this does literally nothing that bloodrage does. Why is it still called bloodrage? This is your first big fluff ticket into the class and you're busy pretending it's something else. Rename the shit, drop the reminder text, and get into the nitty-gritty.
Third: Countess's attack bonuses from Vitae were designed to 'make up' for her 3/4 BAB when Striking and, importantly, to compensate for what she missed from losing Dark Focus. Bloodrager has neither of those things as true for it, and I'm not sure how I feel about the bonuses as a result. On the one hand I can understand wanting to emulate Countess, and on the other hand I feel like this is going to end poorly.
As for using Vitae in place of other resources...noooot a fan. This ends a different, but equally bad, kind of poorly.
> Bloodline
Wooooordiiiiiiiiing.
> Abyssal getting Cursed Razor
The fuck?
> Draconic getting Chimera Soul
The /fuck/?
> Kyton even being a bloodline
This isn't on you, but the /fuck/?
> Born of Blood
Oh look, it ended poorly. The temp HP are cool but will never, ever, ever get used, not compared to the free crack and augmentations.
Continued.
>>47865144
> Blood Quickening/Apotheosis
You could have stopped this. And, honestly, as abilities these are /boring/. Strong, and /fucking boring/.
I feel like there's potential here, in the concept, but it fumbles in trying to resemble Countess. The archetypes sorta feels like you were trying to play it simple and safe, and as a result it not only doesn't interact much with its own maneuvers, it has potent and straightforward bonuses that scale like devilry. There's so much else, and more, that this could be, my friend.
Hey /pfg/ I was wondering how viable/easy it is to build a wizard or necromancer (any class, really) to do shit like save or suck spells, or ray of X, ect.
You often see them getting into inter-party conflict
>"The look on the parties face as the DM described level drain was the sweetest melange"
or other things like it, but I honestly want to be a helpful person, just with turning enemies into non-threats via non directly damaging abilities, more so than any buff.
Necromancer anon earlier in thread made me realize how much I've been wanting to play a character like this for a while, so thanks man.I'm imagining both types of necro in one party now and drooling.
I'm really quite new to PF, got recently invited to a game, figured it was my best chance. I've been playing 5e, but it's not really possible to build a character like that for multiple reasons in that.
Should I try going for it in pathfinder regardless of new-ness? what classes are the best for it?
>>47864862

We wouldn't need to do that if you weren't such a Jew with animus.
>>47865282
Mechanically it's great though. If it just needs a refluff that's not too terrible.
Like equipping a frame system for your aegis or the like.
Oddly I'm not too fond of the host of heroes though.
>>47865306
Tap Animus exists for a reason.
>>47865326

>>47865306

>>47865326
>hurr use this very finite resource to get a shitty animus pool

>>47865191
Easiest and simplest for lowbies is Heavens Oracle.
>Color spray
>Use shenanigans to boost the fuck out of it
>Hit things way out of its HD range
Other than that, just go wizard and grab grease, hold person, Create Pit, etc. Also Mad Monkeys.
>>47865191
Do you have any idea on the group's attitude towards third party things?
Because Spherecasters with the Death sphere can get the Drain, Weakening, and Curse talents, which they can use to fuck with enemies, ruining their stats and slapping them with negative levels.
Hedgewitches also can get an independant pool of curses they can hit people with if they take the Black Magic tradition, which also nets them Witch Hexes.
>>47865351
Scaling power points per day, while animus is infinite each day in a way that actually matters (if you invest in it you'll always be augmenting, while it's a choice for Goddess based on resources).
PoW needs more daily stuff desu
>>47865343
>Animus Adept PrC is amazing
No it isn't
You need to waste ANOTHER feat(that isn't even any fucking good, BOTH the playtest and final versions require you to take a borderline useless feat) to retard your initiating in exchange for some meh glyphs..
>>47865388
I'll ask, but for now I'm assuming they don't really like it at all, considering the DM said "only core races, unless you have a -really- fucking good reason"
>>47865403
>meh glyphs
>free action buffs and debuffs
um.
>>47865418
Ach, fair enough.

>>47865449
Probably little of both.
>>47865144
>>47865189
Well, its back to the drawing bored. I'll return when I git gud

>> Abyssal getting Cursed Razor
>The fuck?
You guys straight up said this shit started with DEMONic cults, this is just building on that.
>>Draconic getting Chimera Soul
>The /fuck/?
You know what a dragon is? I'll tell ya. A dragon is possibly the ultimate apex of the animal kingdom, having both physical might, mental prowess, and arcane power. Dragons are essentially chimeric creatures that have horns, scales, hide, claws, fangs, wings, strong legs, tails, magical/chemical weaponry, and essentially every other uberpowered thing in the animal kingdom often rolled into one thing. With Chimera Soul combined with Draconic, you're essentially channeling the powers of the APEX OF THE ANIMAL KINGDOM into your very being, using the minor reflections in the rest of the animals to emulate what its like to be one of the damned ultimate lifeforms that dragons are.
>this does literally nothing that bloodrage does. Why is it still called bloodrage?
Because it still has the same restrictions, penalties, durations, activation, and reverse compatibility ruling that the original bloodrage has, the name is already perfect for the ability, its the one ability that defines the class. The only difference is it replaces the Str, Con, and Will Bonuses with Vitae shenanigans
Though you may be right in that I should release the restriction on bloodline discipline and instead make it a choice from many, and the rest of your critique makes sense to me and I'll take them into account. Also I'm sorry my working capabilities are bad, I'm just a crap writer with a mental deficiency
Now, if you'll need me, I'm going togo to bed and cry myself to sleep for being such a complete and abject failure of a designer, then remake it after I've gorged myself on trailmix and sorrow

Path of the Hellknight, it's this month's Campaign Setting book.
Living Legend here.
Just hit level 6.
Should I prestige into something?
There are a billion PrCs out there, and I've noticed there are like 20 for soulknives.
I'm mainly focusing on Guardian (trying to be the party's frontliner), so I'd appreciate it if you guys could point out a PrC that'd be better for general surviveability than simply gaining more levels in Living Legend. I'm mostly looking for DR/Resistance, though any sort of good defensive shit would be great. I output acceptable damage and want to focus on my role as "the guy in front that gets hit so others don't have to."

>>47865487
I wasn't meaning to discourage you, my friend. Internal - that is, /my team/ - gets these same sorts of critiques. /I/ get these same sorts of critiques. You put something out there, which is more than a lot of people do, and you've got a willingness to improve.
Normally, if you were workin' on my team, the next step would be mutual pitching and refining of ideas, generally starting with identifying the core of the concept and moving to express it and make it the star of the show. I'm down for that if you are. Thread might be of help too.

Also, if someone tears into your work, and comes out saying it has potential, guess what?It means you didn't get it perfect the first time.I don't think anyone ever has. >>47865703

>>47865724
Living creatures are divided into kingdoms according to specific characteristics. These characteristics remain fairly constant regardless of magic. Dragons possess the characteristics of animals and not the characteristics of other kingdoms. Therefore, taxonomically speaking, dragons are animals.
For example, they are macroscopic, multicellular organisms with specialized organs that move, eat, and fuck. Animals.
>>47865631
Debuff and battlefield control go hand in hand.
Making someone drop their heavily invested weapons and kicking it away stops them from attacking, but so does raising a wall or making them fuck around in a grease spell with 8 dex for several rounds.
Use the best options you can find to accomplish the goal you want, which are generally one of "Hold them down so my allies can molest them to death", "Stop them from doing things effectively", or "Bypass the encounter entirely".
Look especially for options that let you do multiples of these, and make goddamn sure you boost those DCs.
>>47855536
What? No they can't.
>>47865580
You can pitch ideas, but I really do need to sleep, and I do have a good idea of where things need to change. I've got to go through and memorize a catalogue of over 200 plant species tomorrow, so I wouldn't be able to respond, though I will read them when I have the time.
Plus, combined with the obvious starting point from what I got and your initial critique, I could whip it into shape.
Then I could probably take it and use what I learned for my other homebrew projects. Who know, I may be able to finish two of my big dream projects (that will most likely never be published and will remain homerules)"Path of War: The Side Path" and "Extended Sphere of Power: The Regenisis
>>47865629
>Wrong type, wrong subtype
you're being pedantic. I mean them as animals in the same way humans are animals, not in game context but in practical context. Humans are uplifted apes, and Dragons are the ultimate biological life form that, really, is kinda chimeric in nature when you take a step back and look.
Also, explain to me in what way does TDS resemble turning into/being an actual dragon?Good night everyone. Sweet dreams,I'll most likely kill you in the morning
>>47865771

Chimera Soul (Stance)

Prerequisites: 3 Chimera Soul maneuvers
Initiation Action: 1 swift action
Range: Personal
Target: You
Duration: Stance
You release the bonds of your old body to assume the form of the most powerful predators to ever live, the mighty dragons. While in this stance, you gain the benefits of Form of the Dragon II, choosing which type of dragon to emulate each time you assume the stance. In addition, while in this stance, if you have used up all your breath weapons, you may spend a swift action to recover two more uses of your breath weapon attack, however you must still wait 1d4 rounds after your last breath weapon use to recover new uses.

>>47865654
We need more bacteria in fantasy.
>>47865900
But they have organs that let them move, eat and breed.
>>47865877
Technically, since most of them don't eat or breathe, they wouldn't actually be considered alive.
>>47865956
Sounds like our classifications fall apart when used in another universe that doesn't follow our laws of reality and thus shouldn't be used then.
>>47865956
>wouldn't actually be considered alive.
>Outsiders are Cosmic Viruses
It all makes so much sense now
>>47865791
Alright, sounds like a project. would you recommend any guides that are in the pastebin for researching best ways to do that?
like, any. Stuff from one guide that's really well written, despite not being the class/exactly what I want that would be helpful for how to do it myself?
>>47865970
>our classifications fall apart
No. Viruses exist and are not considered to be living organisms since they are incapable of conducting homeostasis
>>47865877
Outsiders are not cellular organisms, as I recall. They're just made of their plane's stuff and/or alignment. This is explicit in the lore- their souls and bodies are the same thing.
>>47865956
That's not exactly correct. For one thing, outsiders do need to breathe. For another, reproduction and more specifically how you do it is the biggest part of being alive. Viruses and prions were and still are debateable to an extent, but general agreement is that they're not really alive.
If we tried to classify Pathfinder's bestiaries, outsiders would need some consideration as to whether they're actually alive or not, but they can reproduce, so I'd say so.
>>47865970
Don't be retarded. They fit just fine in their own kingdom. New kingdoms have been classified when a creature that didn't fit the old ones appeared. Science isn't religion, it actually changes when new evidence shows up.
>>47865956
>Outsiders breathe, but do not need to eat or sleep (although they can do so if they wish). Native outsiders breathe, eat, and sleep.
Perhaps outsiders would represent a new branch or something for things depending upon planar shit. Demons CAN eat and some demons undergo special metamorphosis when they do eat. And they do need to breath.
>>47865908
My favorite fantasy disease was a silly thing an old DM came up with called Pentapox. It was a completely mundane disease engineered by demons, highly contagious and causing you to break out in little pentagram-shaped discolorations.
Which counted as summoning circles, summoning tiny, tiny little demons that proceeded to get into goddamn everything and fuck it up. Victims also became anemic from blood being used to power the circles.
Curing the disease didn't immediately get rid of the demons or marks, and the demons were very canny about spreading the disease through their mischief as well.
Fire didn't even get rid of the little bastards, because they were immune.

15-20/x2 = 0.3*1 = 30% damage increase?
>>47866144
Overkill is not generally desirable, and crit-rider feats exist. The relatively small increase in pure damage doesn't matter as much.
>>47865994
Not really familiar with guides, it's just a wizard philosophy dealio. Your role is to solve problems, often before they become problems.
Try to do things elegantly, with as little expenditure as possible- Why shoot the flying enemy a bunch with valuable spells when you can slap a fly/haste combo on the fighter and say "Go get em, champ!".
Why finger of death random chumps when you can just invisibility right past them?
Keep that schema in mind when picking spells.
>>47866093
>An outsider is at least partially composed of the essence (but not necessarily the material) of some plane other than the Material Plane.
Some outsiders, being only partially composed of their plane, still have cells and can pass on their genes. They can move, eat, breath, and breed.
>>47866093
They're living things anon. They breed amongst themselves. Have blood, are capable of eating, breathing, and sleeping. Though they only NEED to breath. Seems to me they are dependent on a separate state of matter(planar stuff which seems to be composed of souls), which makes sense since an outsider's soul and body are the same thing.
>>47866216
>image
Source?
And not all outsiders have blood, I remember shit like retrievers being construct-like. They're not biologically capable of sleeping without magical intervention, going from Arueshalae's backstory and how she didn't know what it was like to dream.
>>47866176
That said, sometimes it's really useful to have "Blow the whole fucking place up" as an option.
Luckily, if you go wizard and pick crap spells, you can just not prepare them, and shell out for others.
Spontaneous casters tend to be fucked, and clerics/druids can tailor their lists even better, but have an overall more limited selection.
Get wands of stuff that's always useful and relies less on saves (buffs, etc) and always be looking for where a tiny alteration can change lots of things.
I remember a buddy on a stealth mission delaying a ceremony for several crucial rounds by greasing an unattended sacrificial dagger.
Also (like the primary use of mad monkeys) inflicted critical dignity damage to the cult leader.

>They're not biologically capable of sleeping without magical intervention
Hmm, that reminds of that experiment where they "chloroformed" a touch-me-not and it didn't respond to the touch.
I imagine that you could divy up outsiders further by type.
You would "living outsiders" things like Angels, Demons, Oni, Asura, etc that resemble and act like sapient beings and then pseudo living things like Mordrons and Aeons that are more machine than organism.
Also retrievers aren't outsiders they are build by demons. Sorta like how a flesh golem technically isn't a alive, it's a facsimile of "life".

What are some good Advanced Weapon Training options for a bastard sword wielding Lore Warden?
>>47866452
>non-PoW fighter
>bastard sword
>good
>>47864088
How are finesse weapons redundant?
>>47866522
Lore Wardens are good.
>>47866625
>the cuck thinks "better than base fighter" equals "good"
I feel sorry for you getting this cucked, I really do, but at this point you're basically hopeless.

Thanks anon. Do you have anything worthwhile to add to the conversation?
>>47866625
It's pretty fun.

>Thanks anon. Do you have anything worthwhile to add to the conversation?
No, but luckily the conversation was already worthless.
>>47866640
>cuck
Go back to /pol/ with your alt-right crap.
anyone know what a halfling slave in chelix would have to do for work?
>>47866373
I'd divvy it up even further to 'planar constructs', things made wholly out of planar fabric, and living things that just happen to have a shitload of planar energy in them. The former might magically mimic the second, but it would generally be a pointless effort.
So you can have an angel that's literally marble flesh and vents holy light when cracked, a demon made of malformed meat stapled together, a devil that looks like a red guy with horns but there's nothing but hellfire under his skin, etc.
While also allowing for more 'human' outsiders running around that can do things like empathise or eat or bone or fall in love.
>>47866698
I'm not from there, lad, it's just the modern version of fag or autist. It doesn't mean anything anymore. Cool that asspain.
>>47866752
>Implying fag or autist have stopped being used.
>>47866452
Always spellcut.
>>47866698
Just ignore him.
>>47866704
Depends. Some of them are bound to be headed for the mines or fighting pits. Otherwise they might end up as house slaves, which means labor for whoever bought them. Think unpaid servant.
>>47866785
How was that implied?
>>47866799
so like general house work?
If you really need a combat bonus feat from a level 1 dip, what is the best way to go about that? Lore Warden?
>>47866831
Depends; plenty of BAB15s can offer it, but you probably don't want the loss of a +0 level
various Soulknife variants can get you a feat AND power points AND at worst make sure you'll always have a weapon hidden somehow.
>>47866866
Yea, looking for full bab and no 3pp.
>>47866817
The declaration of cuck being the 'modern' fag/autist implies that fag/autist is NOT modern.
>>47866826
Yeah. Of course, they're going to have to put up with a lot of abuse from human discrimination.
>>47866902
Well, it's not. Their popularity is older than "cuck". Doesn't mean they're not still used.
>>47866826
Most likely.
>>47866912
>>47866948
kk thanks guys
Anybody played/DM'ed Hell's Rebels that can offer advice on what classes would probably be most fun to play? With all the intrigue I can imagine skillmonkeys having a good place, but I wouldn't want to feel shit in combat.
Bard has crossed my mind a few times.
