>>47812262
PURGE THIS.
>>47812262
>footfags
>>47812262
If enough orks believe in something, that something will happen?
What is the most powerful thing the orks could force into existence without breaking the setting?
>>47812330
Do you want the church wearing Knight to bust in your house?
>>47812196
basically yeah. orks while they frequently go after cults but lack any kind of quarantine so some will escape and/or infect their attackers.
So an individual cult doesn'tlast long but the infection spreads readily enough.
>>47812165
Eldar and Tau have both beeen explicitlymentionedas susceptible too genestealer cults, they do tend to be unsuccessful more often though.
>>47812391
A better codex.
>Orks are a melee race
>I2
>Codex 5+
>>47812391
no, ork psychic presence only applies to making ork technology actually work and occasional massive flukes of luck, better aim, etc., not overtly obvious reality-bending shenanigans besides the dedicated psykers. /tg/ would know this if they spent their time actually reading the setting instead of shitposting about it
>>47812315
>>47812392
Your church-knight is tiny and weak
>>47812430
>without breaking the setting
>>47812430
/rimshot
>>47812445
Says you with your tiny church. You call that a church? I wouldn't allow my Canoness to have /ss/ times in that church.
>>47812449
They can make it better by .1%.
>>47812391
>If enough orks believe in something, that something will happen?
no
this is a common missconception that the actual fluff dissagress with.
They can have a small effect but it's limted to making a gun not jam but they won't make a pipe attached too an empty box shoot bullets.
>>47812442
Are you sure about this? What about gork and mork? I mean, I don't have source that says it can do anything like i describe, but is there a place that definitely says no it doesnt work like that?
>footfags
>>47812416
>So an individual cult doesn't last long but the infection spreads readily enough.
This sounds like it would wipe out entire Ork planets on its own.
Is there any doubt Tyranids will eventually "win" 40k?
>>47812505
It, much like a weird boy's powers, increases as more orks get together. IIRC, there's plasma technoloy that was lost when the emperor attacked an ork world. said ork world desintigrated as orkz died off.
>footfags
Curioius, but what should the Leviathan dreadnought be shooting at with it's weapons?
>>47812509
Stupid, dumb, frog posting scum.
>>47812514
>This sounds like it would wipe out entire Ork planets on its own.
No.
>Is there any doubt Tyranids will eventually "win" 40k?
Also wrong. There is one they fear. In their tongue he is skree skree skree, but in our tongue he is Robin Cruddance.
Foot fetishes and vore are like the weirdest fetishes. At least with other fetishes you can KIND of relate them to genitalia or sex, but these two are just like totally unrelated whatsoever.
>>47812514
>Is there any doubt Tyranids will eventually "win" 40k?
The thing the Tyranids are running from will eventually win.
>>47812624
Yeah Cruddance. He's into the Howling Griffons so there's your answer.
>>47812262
>Starting a general thread with off-topic fetish bait
>>47812624
Which has never been mentioned since 3rd edition. Nids are no longer running from anything.
>>47812594
>Robin Cruddance
When in doubt, things could always get worse.
>>47812624
>The thing the Tyranids are running from will eventually win.
I don't buy this theory.
>>47812678
It could be worse.
Is there literally any information about a new CSM codex on the horizon? I would think the end of 2016 would be the latest they would release it, shit's already 4 years old. Meanwhile loyalists had 2 codices already.
>>47812678
As long as you guys keep aknowledging the attention seeking OP image fag, he will continue to fish for (You)'s.
>>47812315
I thought that was an Ork in the background of that pic at first.
>>47812621
It's like this
"I think X body part is pretty, therefore I should like to touch it with my pemis"
>>47812678
>off topic
>it's a pic of 40k
>for a 40k thread
also a community that wasn't full of immature faggots would just have a mild chuckle and ignore it, but that's too much to hope for here onneo/tg/
>>47812658
>The Tyranids are fleeing from the Howling Griffons
>>47812722
OP's don't get (You)'s.
>>47812740
In the case of footfags it's because they got their mental wires crossed at birth - the part of the brain that deals with feet and legs is crossed to the adjacent part that deals with sexual attraction.
For Vore? No fucking idea.
>>47812694
>When in doubt, things could always get worse.
How can it get worse when the Nid version of the Dragonborn is after you?
>>47812761
That's a Fist, not a HG.
>>47812740
The foot is like so far removed from sexual attraction though. It really proves the brain wires getting crossed explanation for foot fetishes.
At least with armpits, it's close to the boob. Arms raised is a suggestive pose. Thighs are close to the vagina and legs spread is a sexually suggestive pose. Butt has evolutionary roots and breasts are simulated chest-butts. Hand fetish? I don't know if this exists, but hands go hand in hand with masturbation for both sexes. Mouth fetish? Oral sex.
Foot fetish is as stupid as like nose fucking or an ear fetish.
>>47812714
If you ever needed concrete evidence that all the CSM posters are faglords, here it is. Although anyone with a brain already knew it.
>>47812792
>nose fucking
The japs are into this real hard.
>>47812714
Sad Panda and the other reliable source have said Q3/4 2017. Which is likely the timeframe for 8th edition.
It's pretty clear none if the existing armies that havent already been updated to 7th, will be updated. The best you can hope for is a decent formation in Fenris part 2 later this year. But I wouldnt hold my breath if I were you. Shelf your CSM until late 2017.
>>47812784
>How can it get worse
They could Skubmar the Nids out of existence. That would be pretty bad.
>>47812547
So it can happen then. Well, what do you think would be the limit without breaking the setting? I just wanted some cool ideas
>>47812803
>faglord
>concrete evidence
>anyone with a brain already knew
You must be 18 years old....
>>47812807

>>47812840
Thanks for proving the argument even more. Get madder, Chaoscuck. Too bad all that rage doesn't make your shitty army any better, even when you play Khorne.

It's not like that.
>>47812694
The Fleeing theory = Ward-tier shitscribble. 40k's timeline officially stops as the 13th Crusade is about to plow Terra's furrow. Suck it, xenos.
>>47812769
yes they do
>>47812808
They wouldn't squat Tyranids. They'd rename them Tyrantspawn Skitter Reapers and make the Hive Mind the fourth Chaos god.
>>47812792
>>47812860
A foot fetish is weird since as a child you must have gained it from somewhere I heard something you see more females show there barefeet causing your brain to think feminine=bare feet
>>47812840
>Chaos fags proving themselves to be hyper sensitive children
Are they better or worse than tau fags, they're always whining about how under powered they are.
>>47812808
They can't do that. How else would they get Nidfag tears to sweeten their drinks?
>>47812904
But the nose thing. Just how though.
>>47812262

>>47812953
With which faction?
>>47812953
6 Wraithknights.
>>47812904
It's not that hard for me to understand, at least feet are something you find on a woman.
I mean, there are some weird fetishists out there, I knew a guy who was really in to 'accountants' to the degree he couldn't get it up if she could pass her self off as one.
He'd only hit on women with glasses and when he got them home he would ask them math questions, if they got it wrong he would just leave without a word.
Because this thread needs some Hotpocketing let me try to make this thread 40k related. Roll up a planet.
>>47812807
Hah. That tripfag was lying then! No plastic SoB!Hello darkness my old friend....
>>47812808
Why would they do that? Nids are popular, 40k is popular.
>>47812891
No they wouldn't. Tyranids are a 'unique' name and is copyrightable. Empire, Dark Elves, High Elves, Wood Elves, Lizardmen, Ogres, Orcs, Goblins, Dwarfs.. These are not copyrightable.
That's why they were changed. Bretonnia, Skaven and Chaos all remain in Skubmar under their original names because they were legally defensible.
Chapter House Lawsuit, the judge said you cannot copyright names such as "Imperial Guard" either, hence why they got renamed Astra Militarium, and why Storm Troopers are Temptus Scions. It's why the codex title for Space Marines is Adeptus Astartes.
>>47812992

pottery
>>47812770
I don't think it usually happens at birth, fetishes typically form from a situation or object being associated with arousal or pleasure during development Hence bdsm being a cross of pain and pleasure.
Vore does speak to a fucked up childhood experience, though.
>>47812262
I honestly thought at first that he was licking her pubes
>>47813090
>It's pretty hard to take down Stormravens with only 125 points.
The fuck are you talking about.
>What are the Knights gonna do
They literally have an AA gun option for their top mount and the main guns can have gatling guns that shoot way more than 6 shots to hit on those 6's.
>>47812792
Hand fetish definitely, hotaru on dagashi kashi is an example. The hands are drawn like like and older woman's hands vs chubby or just straight fingers. Hotaru also has the boob, eye, and European clothes fetish going on as well.
Basically all anime is fetish material.

>>47812761
Also the Chaos Space Marines don't have Land Speeders or Razorbacks because the Tau destroyed them all.
If Autocannons were as OP as they are in the RPGs, Imperial Guard would instantly become at least equal to Necrons.
Autocannon spam would reign, and a new level of cheese would be achieved.
>>47812819
It is whatever you could convince a massive number of orks to believe in. If you get enough of them to all really believe in it, it'll happen. But remember that they have fairly short attention spans and some are more easily convinced than others.
>>47813120
5 Knights are 1875. The theoretical game is 2000 points.
You could only have 4 Knights with the gatling and the auto cannons. But who the hell fills their list with that Knight. Besides it's S6 and the auto cannon is S7. With jink you're not gonna down 10 Stormraven gunships.
I also figured out you should just spam 10 Stormravens (5 wings) with Las cannons and multi meltas for 2k points . So good luck Knight player, you lost.
Ork cockney slang lacks references to their mum. Orks don't have mums, but what if they have this nebulous concept of a sacred primal something that fills them with inexplicable shame and guilt and righteous anger that an individual ork can only describe as "Me Mum"?

Looking through my bits, odds and ends, I want to make a small-ish, rag-tag group of guardsmen pulled from regiments all over the Imperium into the retainer of a Lord Inquisitor. Kinda like The Dirty Dozen meets D-99 (and, yes, I have Schaeffer & Co).
What's a decent way to portray this on the table? Should I start with an Emperor's Blade Assault Company and branch out, or use Combined Arms and add on from there? Or should I say "fuck it" and just keep them on my shelf to gawk at?

hmmm...
a fortress world of borderline heresy, with petty cults and hidden necron tombs. mildly toxic atmosphere...
So this regiment lives on a beautiful continental world, though you have to wear a mask to enjoy it. Neutral relations with the Tau have softened hostility towards Xenos, letting corruption of thought sink in. Further apostasy has set in as the citizens give ear to the growing cults that preach of the dead rising from their graves, bestowing eternal life.
I could dig this.
From the previous CSM codex to the current one, Plague Marines went up by 1 point, but got plague knives in exchange; many people expected them to be nerfed when they actually got a buff (especially with the changes to how FNP works and how Toughness bonuses affect Instant Death).
/40kg/, How do you think Plague Marines will change in the next codex? Do you think they'll change at all?
I think they'll remain the strongest all-round cult troop in the codex, even if they don't change.
>>47815086
>I think they'll remain the strongest all-round cult troop in the codex, even if they don't change.
I personally think that one goes to Noise Marines, honestly. Plague Marines are really good at not dying (which isn't nothing, don't get me wrong), but that's honestly about it. They just lack mobility to really get from A to B, and they can be easily outmaneuvered by other units. Their Plague Knives may seem great, but at the end of the day it's really not THAT much better than what they would otherwise be, and they're striking at I3, so they're going last or equal against most threats where that Poison would actually matter.
Noise Marines are better IMO as an OVERALL unit because of their incredible flexibility as a unit. They are basically B+ in Shooting, CC, and Durability, which makes them an A+ unit, and the Blastmaster is hands-down the best man-portable weapon in the entire Codex (maybe even the game) due to its strength, flexible firing modes, and Ignores Cover (something our army typically lacks). An Icon gives them FnP (5+), so stick them in ruins and laugh as they shrug off a shocking amount of firepower. They're easier to kill than Plague Marines, but they put out WAY more firepower and can actually move on their own when they need to, and have better shooting options.

Hell, it is literally the reason I like War Convocation. Strong, but not Eldar/Space marine tiers of stupidly OP, and has a clear centerpiece model with a lot of troops to support it.
Feels a lot more fluffy and interesting than the "hurr I am only fielding knights, now 60% of your army is useless leleell xd xd xd"
>>47812445
Not this shit again
>>47813042
Bait, but to be fair, you do have to rely on the MCs or GCs to have a fair chance against the equally WAAC faggotry lists that Marines, Eldar and Necrons field.
Nothing else can really punch through a lot of their stuff, nor survive their alpha strikes. It is pretty lame, but play a bit more Zone Mortalis and it is fine.

Which is stupid, because you don't need to copyright them being Space Marines.
Other games have space marines, but don't worry about their copy right, and in the same damn industry, there is Warmachine with elves and dwarves, called elves and dwarves.
They don't need to be able to copyright Elves to use elves. it was extremely stupid.

Noise Marines have decent shooting, but their CC is sub-par and there durability is only okay. They also aren't any more mobile than Plagues.
Noise Marines with Sonic Blasters are just too expensive, so they aren't putting out WAY more firepower.
Frankly, I don't understand where this Noise Marines are super good meme came from. Is it delusional Slaanesh players? Is it theorycrafting non-CSM players trying to claim that the codex is totally fine?

The easiest option would be firestorm cadre but I also want to actually havefunand not run WAAC to be remotely viable vs WAAC
I'm tempted to go 2 full squads of sniper drones and back it up with 1 or 2 broadsides, hitting on 2+ and auto wounding on 4+ with possible rending, if i had an ethereal hiding near them that becomes 54 shots at 24" range
An alternative to the broadsides is a buffmander and 2-4 double missile pod suits

Alright now I'm curious.
What can a Heldrake even do in a dog fight?
As far as I know it has that one S7 hit if it somehow manages to get in close which it won't because its P value is crap.
It's not a fighter so there's no earthly reason to have the HA over the Baleflamer when it comes to AA or have I missed something?
Can it somehow vector strike in Dogfights beside it's one free attack? That seems like the only way to make it even remotely desireble to be in a DF with a Heldrake.

In the lore and in a lot of the art Heldrakes often latch onto enemy aircraft and shit fire all over the cockpit. They also just grab planes and tear them apart.
The problem is GW didn't translate this idea into their rules.

All CSm lists need heldrakes with baleflamers.

no responses means no responses desu, but at 1500 points you are going to see alot of large units like riptides, imperial and wraithknights etc and i don't think 2 vindis and a pre will be able to deal with them
other than that its a decent setup, your troops are going to be obliterated no matter how much you invest into them so i would cut cost there and move it somewhere else, maybe obliterators or a daemon prince?

I should caveat that I don't intend to use this list against ruthless competitive players, so far I have played mainly against astra militarum tank walls, dark eldar, loyalist marines, and a dark angels player with predators/land raiders. The AM and DA players made me wish I had more melta guns and actually my marines don't seem to die super fast as the internet says. Main problems I have had are morale failures and lack of sufficient offensive output.

>>47813204
Split the cultists into two units, drop the autoguns.
Autoguns are a waste of points, a bigger squad just means it hurt all the more when they break and run off the table.
Cultists are for hiding in cover on your table edge by objectives.
Helbrute is garbage. If you're insistent on running it, give it a real ranged weapon and throw it in a Helcult with the Cultists. They lose ObSec, but they gain Fearless and the Helbrute can at least help them out if something drops onto your side to bother them.
Tri-las pred is too expensive for what it does. Drop the turret las and hope that it doesn't die too early playing pillbox or drop the sponsons and try to shoot and scoot to stay alive.
You may want to add some more melta on the Termicide and/or CSM depending on your meta.
Seriously, just run Codex Space Marines. You aren't really taking advantage of any of Chaos's unique shit, and it would vastly improve the bulk of the list. If you insist on crippling yourself, be aware that Rhino CSM squads are fucking awful and are a giant 600 point albatross around your list's neck.
>>47816588
Ostensibly it's too lessen the massive benefit of first turn in an I-go-you-go turn system. In practice it just fucks people over. Most armies lack the mobility to deploy conservatively without crippling their ability to project their force, and those that have that mobility (Eldar, Tau, Drop Marines) are already top codexes.
>>47816621
Will deliver on Monday or Tuesday. Too bad it's probably going to rain the whole weekend so we can't set up tables outside. Oh well.
>>47816623
alright, my main issue is I don't want a low model count army, but I also don't just want to spam cultists. so the marines seemed like my main option, I guess I could take a lot of bikes instead or something
>>47816574
hmm, running the numbers assuming BS6 from the markerlights gives me 16% per suit, i would have thought it would much higher than that at str7
swapping them out for missilesides gives me 67% to wound each assuming BS5, add them to the sniper drones i end up with 5.3 wounds per turn average, but thats almost my entire army shooting at one dude
>>47816688
T8 3+ 5+++ is a doozy to get through, you really want something that can at least ignore the armor save.
>>47816665
If you want some bulk scoring bodies, ally in daemons or Renegades & Heretics.
>don't want a low model count army
You chose the wrong army, nigga. Chaos Space Marines are more expensive (once upgrades are included) than their loyalist brethren.
Why exactly do you want to play CSM? What draws you to the faction? Mechanically, what draws you to the codex?
>>47816611
This info helps a lot.
If your Marines are surviving you could probably drop a few from each squad and save enough points for something extra.
A bike and spell familiar for the sorcerer gives you the opportunity to speed around summoning daemons.
For you same points you could get a rhino for your cultists (obviously you'll have to split them into 2 squads of 10) to hide behind and ride in.
If you feel like you need more melta but don't want to drop those flamers then drop some of the autoguns and give the cultists flamers.
A Heldrake with a Baleflamer is always useful (assuming you can break open their transports before it arrives) as it only needs 2-3 turns of successful shooting against marines to earn its points back in kills.
>>47816705
I realised that my maths was wrong and its actually 2.8 wounds a turn from 3 missilesides and 12 sniper drones
the problem with getting AP2 weaponry is that i either end up only wounding on 6+ because of T8, or i'm only firing a single shot at S8 or S10 from broadsides/hammerheads
crunching the numbers, missilesides end up working the best average wounds and also the highest possible wounds, but they dont ignore the armor
Rolled 6, 2, 5, 8, 1, 9, 10, 8, 4, 8 = 61 (10d10)

I hate this, it's never worked like this.
An Ork can't pick up a stick and shoot bullets out of it, an ork can't sit on a wheel and have it fly through space.
The Ork Gestalt psychic entity makes tweaks and eases things along.
All Orks believe Red wunz go fasta, and as a result, Red vehicles go slightly faster based on this psychic will
Ork Reactors on their starships are poorly maintained but allow them to sail through space, coolant systems work despite no maintenance, the temperature stays just below meltdown level.
Ork guns that are rarely if ever maintained still bark out scores of rounds, despite the fact they should have jammed during the first shot.

I could ditch the flamers for melta against certain opponents. >Kinda hard to find a middle ground although maybe that's why everyone bitches about the CSM codex and there isn't one.
Yeah this is the truth. The Heldrake is a great example of this.
That Baleflamer is worth its weight in gold against 3+ armour saves but against 2+ its hopeless and against anything less its 170 points for for little more a single very mobile heavy flamer.
I think CSM work best with Daemon allies to make up for their short comings or at higher points where you can bring a Void Shield Generator and a Skyshield without sacrificing such a large chuck of your army to do so. and ensure your units last longer than theirs.
God Luck.
>>47816546
Yes but as a AF it does not have skyfire so you get two times the AA power form a Forgefiend outside of a dogfight, the problem is you get two or perhaps three dogfights per game, do you want a 170 point investment being able to use it's AA power which is piss poor, or do you go with the good old flamer.
My question, and I'm asking because I want to know, what can it do in a dogfight? Asuming you are going with the flamer option, can it really only do that one crappy hit or can it vector strike or something worthwhile?
>>47816566
Exactly! I was so hoping for something like the helicopter scene from reign of fire-ish rules for it in the dog fight since it was the perfect chance to do that.
If it can vector strike or something, I'm perfectly fine with +1 attacks it has as far as I can see, but if it is just one S7 hit in total it's not going to down shit.
>>47817020
Anyone who wants to buy one of those models but has some extra money on-hand. They're hoping people will see the boxes and think "Hey, it's only a little bit more and I get a whole extra model, plus some extra dice! I could use it for terrain or trade it to someone else!"
And there's always the slight chance that they'll hold onto the extra model, paint it up for fun, and be so enamored with it that they'll start another small army to use it in.
Never underestimate the power of something that's perceived as a bargain, even if you wouldn't otherwise be interested in the extras.
As a newish AM player I've only managed to get a hold of two Russ and a Chimera for armor but I have an assload of actual troops. 32 lasguns 7 sarges and vox, 4 of every special weapon and 6 heavy teams. Is there like a "sweet spot" for the amount of Guardsmen I should be fielding from 1000 to 1500pts or is there no such thing as too many?
Do we know the formation from the Millitarum tempestus box yet?
>>47816967
no its not. its just the old English spelling of Elves and wouldn't be any easier too copyright.
>>47817101
>they did
they didn't. vector strike does not simulate a giant rape bird grabbing a ship and breathing fire onto its cockpit until the inhabitants are dead then tearing the craft's wings off and throwing them at guardsmen for laughs. half the time it doesn't even do anything.
>>47817064

Something like a Cadre Fireblade who replaces his extra shot rule with a rule that makes Pulse Rifles 48" Sniper might be fun, but I also kinda want pic related.

It's not a common term. It's not in frequent modern use. There's no competitive product with a history of using it. In fact, it looks like the ONLY modern use of the word is as in the title of a single series of novels ("Aelf Fen mystery") that don't seem to have been particularly popular.
>>47817709
Darkstrider has a pulse carbine.
His effect makes the enemy count as -1 toughness, which is certainly nice, but not related to what I want.
Also, he can only attach to firewarriors and pathfinders, it's not like you can stick him in a squad of sniper drones (not that he'd have any effect on S:X guns).

Sniper drones still suck, though, even with a buffmander. Or, they're far to mediocre to warrant the marginal benefits they gain from the substantial points investment and opportunity cost.
Crisis Suits don't have a sniper gun. Riptides are lame.

just because you're shit at googling doesn't mean you're correct. "aelf" as a term for elves was/is quite common and has appeared in shannara, a lot of old doubleday stuff from from the 70s, and even D&D, pic fucking related
now as to whether most 40k players in 2016 know this, I'm not so sure, but saying "aelf" isn't a trope of speculative fiction, just nah, you're talking about shit you don't know about.
Okay, I really like the idea behind this game and the lore, but no-one, NO-ONE, in their right mind would seriously pay hundreds of dollars for tiny models and books to play an imaginary game. No offence to the people who do buy all that stuff, that's what they love. I just love having money to go travelling Europe with my friends more.
Like yeah, I get that work goes into making this stuff and the books have nice drawings or whatever, but I'm never going to pay money to play something that is done essential through means of imagination.
I feel the same way about Magic: The Gathering cards, so I just downloaded a free program that visually represents all the cards with actual real images, and has a built-in rule system.
Is there anything like that for 40K yet? I hear tabletop simulator has something rudimentary. I took a look at it and it doesn't look very good. 40k Final Liberation was an excellent old-school adaptation, there doesn't seem to be anything to fill its place.

>HIS GUN ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH
.... his gun is fucking 18" range. He's not a sniper character at all.
>Tau have a drone that increases the range of pulse weapons
>NOT GOOD ENOUGH IT SHOULD DOUBLE THEIR RANGE AND GIVE THEM SNIPER
Nobody mentioned that drone, but it's only available to Pathfinders, and adding flat 6" range is a shit way to make a unit more snipery. That's GW-tier fluff balancing.
For the rest: 48" is not double 30". Secondly, trading Rapid Fire and S5 for Sniper is probably not even worth the extra 18", but even if it is, it's literally the first idea I came up with offhand while asking for homebrew suggestions.
>Tau have a support system that gives any battlesuit Precision Shots (on a 5 or 6 if you put it on a commander)
>NOT WHAT I'M AFTER
Precision shots are a start, but Crisis Suits don't have long range guns.
>There are multiple tools in your codex that do what you want, but you want to homebrew something even more powerful.
No, there are no tools in my codex to do what I want, and I'm not sure why you think you're in a position to tell me what it is that I want. I don't want something more powerful, I want something more specific. Giving Pathfinder guns +6" or Crisis Suits precision shots on their medium range guns makes them objectively better, but doesn't make them more snipery, and doesn't make them more fun.
>Tell you what taucunt, you homebrew a sniper with a bigger gun and extra abilities for their unit to buff your top-tier army, and I'll be sure not to play against it.
Did a Tau player rape your mom? The fuck is wrong with wanting to homebrew something cool that my army doesn't currently offer? Even if you think my one offhand suggestion was somehow ridiculously OP, the entire fucking reason I posted it was asking for input.
>>47816579
Why the psyker? Seems like he doesn't really have anything worth using his powers on, since there are no special weapons.
I like what you're going for, but the CAD just seems to have very little purpose. The spread of tank functions is nice, I don't really rate Pask-less punishers, but with 3 heavy bolters it throws out enough S5 to do damage.
>>47817935
>36" S9 AP3 assault 2 gets hot
That's definitely approaching something I'd like.
>Crisis Suits don't have a sniper gun
>missle pods, just fucking stick a sniperrifle to them and use the stats of missile pods,
36" is still kinda lackluster for what I want to be a badass sniper, and two shots is kinda weird.
>throwing buckets of dice at any target from a single squad is one thing tau can do well, i have a pathfinder squad that is ludicroisly hard to be assaulted and throws out 80 something carbine shots at S6
It's not about how *good* it is, it's just not what I want.

>Did a Tau player rape your mom? The fuck is wrong with wanting to homebrew something cool that my army doesn't currently offer? Even if you think my one offhand suggestion was somehow ridiculously OP, the entire fucking reason I posted it was asking for input.
because what you want already exists in other units (and with ra'lai, even in the HQ slot) and that isnt enough for you
whats worse you are asking for this in the most versatile and customisable army in the entire game
What's the most bullshit superweapon in 40k fluff?
It used to be the celestial orrery, but that seems pretty tame now; tau blow up suns by accident, dark eldar steal them, the admech can set fire to whole fucking nebulas and now even the orks have (or at least had at one point) deathstars that move through the webway and ships that can collapse stars.

It just seems like a massive waste of money, I'm just being straight up honest with you. It's 2016, all of this material could be computerized in a year with enough effort.
I get that it's nice to have the models and books because they're more tangible, but those things cost a lot of money when they add up.
>>47818053
>36" is still kinda lackluster
>Why are people allergic to homebrew?
that above comment is why, you want to make a HQ that already has multi wounds, high ld and special rules more than 36" inch range
Ra'lai is the most powerful HQ unit in the tau army and he is "approaching" something you like, not only does he have double the initiative of other tau models (bar drones and vespid) for getting out of assaults, for the extremely low cost of 190 points he is good against EVERY unit he could possibly come across, from AV14 to hordes and everything in between, all while having a 3+ invuln save
the only more tanky HQ than him is aun'va who has an invuln save, FNP and then another invuln save that makes him literally immune to AP1 weapons
People dont like homebrew tau because they dont realise how insane thier codex is and then try to make thier homebrew unit slightly better than what is in there already
>>47818125
>It just seems like a massive waste of money
I think football as a sport is a waste of money, but i dont go into a football thread telling people they are out of thier minds paying a few hundred pounds on season tickets for something they can watch on tv
>all of this material could be computerized in a year with enough effort.
It already is, however many people enjoy playing with an army they hand painted and spend hours chilling and painting them to a level that they can be proud of
all hobbies and games cost money, my pc and games cost far far more than my army does, my yearly medical bills cost more than my army ever will
>>47818082
>because what you want already exists in other units (and with ra'lai, even in the HQ slot) and that isnt enough for you
Except it doesn't. You're deciding that it does, based on whatever it is you think I want. Longer range Pathfinders and 36" S9 don't scratch my itch.
>whats worse you are asking for this in the most versatile and customisable army in the entire game
Dude, seriously, you've got a fucking complex.
Tau are a versatile and customizable army, so homebrew isn't allowed, and neither is wanting something it doesn't offer? What if I wanted to homebrew a fragile light tank without DPods, since Tau have nothing between Piranha and Hammerheads, is that not allowed because Tau are so versatile? What if I wanted to homebrew an open topped transport? Or a new auxillary? Tau have too many options, so I'm not allowed to want to homebrew anything else?
>>47817897
what an awful fucking post
>>47818125
How do you computerize hand-paining? conversions? the feel of a model in your hand?
>>47818132
I don't want R'alai with longer range. I want a homebrew unit that actually does the things I want.
I don't care about his initiative. I don't care about his tankiness. I do care about his range. That's why I said it was lackluster.
I'm not asking for ideas on how to homebrew a T10 2+/2++/2+ FNP unit with a 120" S:D gun. I'm trying to scratch a specific itch, people are suggesting existing things that don't, and then acting like I'm a monster for wanting to make things that don't already exist because the existing things are good.
>>47818119
>point me in the right direction
I'm afraid I can't, even for a Slaaneshi Brother.
You'll have to discover it yourself.
It's not hard, but you have to lurk.
>>47818163
>. Longer range Pathfinders and 36" S9 don't scratch my itch.
so you admit you want something that would probably be universally agreed to be overpowered, even by tau standard
> What if I wanted to homebrew a fragile light tank without DPods, since Tau have nothing between Piranha and Hammerheads
Tetras, Remoras, SMS devilfish
>What if I wanted to homebrew an open topped transport
essentially a faster fortification, because they can move
>Or a new auxillary
allied detatchment
people dont like homebrews of tier 1 codexes because the person homebrewing them very rarely has any context of stats outside his own codex, which inevitably leads to them being broken as fuck
>>47818192
>I'm not asking for ideas on how to homebrew a T10 2+/2++/2+ FNP unit with a 120" S:D gun. I'm trying to scratch a specific itch

I don't go into football threads to do that either, because it's fairly easy to get a computer game that simulates it fairly well. And hell, playing football doesn't cost that much when I actually want to play the real thing.
Again, the way you spend your money to have a good time is entirely your business, and that's fine. Some people like to spend a lot of money on models and rulebooks, some people like to spend a lot of money on travelling and educating themselves.

Basically, anything a Medusa SHOULD be firing at will be able to fire BACK pretty soon, and the Medusa won't survive the reprisal. It can't really hide in a corner.

Yeah, but that one's immobile, so it can be outranged. To be fair, with a three foot range it can cover about 2/3rds of the board if you place it right, but enemy batteries (there's a surplus of thunderfire cannons in my local meta) will outrange you and give you a lot of trouble.
And if you use Bastion-Breacher shells to get more range, you lose blast radius. In short, I feel like the Medusa is over-specialized for what it brings to the table, and the job it does can be covered by more durable units.
Not to mention the model is pricey as all hell.

You misunderstand. Aelves is copyrightable in the modelling world. There is no, or very few, Aelves models. As in "Aelf Swordsman" or whatever sold by Literally Who Miniatures.
There is, however, lots of "Wood Elf/High Elf/Dark Elf Swordsman" figures. The Judge said that the term "Elf" was in public use and thus not copyrightable, got a problem with this? Argue with the judge. You cannot copy names which are in common use. Just like Donald Trump could not copyright "You're Fired". Aelves, in the eyes of the legal team, is not a common enough usage of the word.
Just because YOU and other people know of it's existence, is totally irrelevant. The common usage spelling of the world aelf, is elf. So elf/elves is a common usage word, thus not copyrightable. Aelves, while an existing word, is NOT common usage, thus IS copyrightable.
Got it?
Seraphon is used by furfag tickle torture fetishfags, but guess fucking what? It isn't common usage, thus it can be copyrighted.
