Dorfs need more cause they are only 3 st. Guard you are getting full value with a dorf because they have block and av9 so they can take the hit. Where as you pay 30k for dodge, it doesn't help your team as much as guard, and you are only getting half the value out of dodge cause you aren't using it as a reroll. There are 3 different match making meta's in fumbbl. Ranked, ranked tournament, and box. Box and box tournament are both basically the same and are super bash heavy. Regular ranked no one plays vs bash, everyone is a picker, and most of the coaches that get games suck. Ranked tourmnent is mostly boated elf teams and farmed up bash teams like the_sage's lizards where he refuses to play against claw and spends most games against newer coaches with the intention to feed his sauras tds.
You get a good box team because you build a better kill stack. You get a good ranked team because you cherry pick
If you look at the difference between the ranked major winner necro and the box winner it becomes kinda obvious. The ranked winner has tackle on 6 players and only 1 player with pile on which is a chorf he won

Is the only major winner in box. By contrast he only has 2 tackle, one as a 4th skill on a wight, because let's face it there are only 3 good single skills for gs, access blitzers 2 or 3 pretty good, and the rest are diminishing returns. He only other tackle is the legend skill on a werewolf.
Big difference though is the ranked player built his wights as guard->tackle. The box player built pombers for both his wights and a claw pomb for one of his wolves.
So that shows how ranked is more concerned with tackle and guard to get 2 d blocks and knock down bloggers. Where as box is more concerned with attrition.
Other thing I think is cool is that the guy who won the only majors as undead cared most about tackle on his wights. Which also makes sense because necro wights support the wolves, but undead wights are the ones doing the hitting and they aren't used frequently enough as support for the mummies to justify guard before tackle or mb

As to how is dreadball, first 2 matches were kinda eh but I wasn't playing with all rules and we were still trying to get used to how to roll, but on my 3rd match in which we were playing with all the rules and the game was more smooth I was having quite a lot of fun, the pace is way faster than blood bowl and it has some interesting/fun ideas, they also tried to give each team a gimmick to make them all stand out.
On the other hand, I've read the game apparently ended up having horrible balance issues with newer teams. There's also Dreadball Xtreme of which I know nothing but apparently it's like an underground dreadball spinoff.

Dwarves get the poorer statline in exchange for more skills. They already begin with all the skills bash play needs - Block, Tackle, and Dauntless and Frenzy on the Troll slayers. This means they load up on Guard far earlier and far easier, and Slayers can get Juggernaut very quickly.
Orcs often have to choose between Guard, Tackle, and MB on early level ups, and will still want Frenzy at some point.
Dwarves end up playing with a very different mindset to Orcs; they reward grouping your players into a tight fist and just punching through. Early access to Frenzy and Juggs mean that Dwarves can make some very unexpected breakthroughs with well-placed chain pushes.

I feel Dreadball scratches a different itch entirely. It's faster paced and feels more like hockey or basketball. Blood Bowl has this slow grinding feel to it that can be exhausting but satisfying, whereas Dreadball is a lot "lighter", for lack of a better word.

I don't know if frenzy is such a big "need" for orcs. I guess it is worth having one, but orcs don't really have the speed for the surfing and can take care of business on the pitch.
It's one of those things where the Black Orcs all need Block, Guard, MB and anything after that really doesn't matter if it is tackle, PO, Grab, or SF. Same kinda thing with the Blitzers. You want to get Guard MB on all of them because that is the best 2 skills they have access to. You want some tackle on the team anywhere and after that it's the whole do you take Frenzy, PO, SF, Strip ball, or more tackle thing
Like IMO frenzy is more important to orcs than premiere bash teams like chaos, nurgle, and undead. But orcs don't need it as much as Humans or Dark Elves do

I think Frenzy is important for bash teams because you don't often have the speed to go around. When playing against another bash-centric team, often the best counter to your drive is just to pile everyone up and make a physical wall. Agility teams can get around this with leap, but bash teams need some way to punch a gap.

No you have a S5 ball carrier that can blitz and dodge INTO a tackle zone on a 2+ and easily throw a 2 dice block to smack the other player down, follow up and run it.
I once had an ogre team where all 6 ogres had break tackle. My main ball carrier had sure hands.
For max overtroll you can lob snotlings over the line. people will think nothing of it untill you 2+ dodge with an ogre, run up and hand off the ball to one who then runs it down as fast as he can.

Note* if you want to be even more of a min-maxing fag, start the team with 2 rerolls and an apo and then when you get leader on your runner drop a reroll. Dorfs don't do too many ag rolls so this makes your rerolls only cost 70K.
