Which actually fits with the comic really. Tintin is no commander or anything like that, his entire skillset is built around investigating and fighting, it is just that whenever he runs into trouble there seems to be complete strangers or longtime friends around to help him for whatever reason...

It's because all the adventures up to the Ottokar Scepter (IIRC) have been redone after the war.
For example, The Cigars of the Pharaoh was way more pulp in the first edition, with trap in ancient temples, secret passages and the like.

My experiences in the Soviet Union were...well, the point was to gather information about Stalin's Russia and the Evils of Communism, right? Tintin, star investigative reporter, drags communism into the light!
But when I got there, what I discovered was that Stalin's Russia had a fair number of good points to counterbalance the bad -- increased governmental efficiency, thriving industry in a country that had not known such a thing 20 years earlier, everyone employed and relatively well fed. That this was achieved through oppression and cruelty was something I took care to emphasize in the report I sent back.
And then i discovered that my report had been edited to remove everything I admired about Russia, and all that was left was the parts where I was running from one Soviet agent after another.
In my subsequent work, I have had greater clout among the press, and I've been able to keep editors from ruining any more of my reports. You can trust THOSE stories. But not my account of the Soviet Union. That one is best forgotten.
