Feedback on this Crimson fist list?

HQ Pedro Kantor: 185

Elites:
Honor Guard 235 + Drop Pod = 270 (going with pedro)

SternGuard 10 man 4 Combimeltas + Heavy flamer + Drop pod = 315

SternGuard 10 man + 4 Combimeltas + drop pod = 295

Troops:
2 10 man Tac squads = 280 + 70 for transport

Heavy Support

StormRaven w/ meltas =200

Centurion Dev w/ grav = 240

Obviously the honor guard is the weakest point in the list but I love those guys
>>
>>46157323
Could use a drop pod for those Cents
>>
>>46157323
It's a generic SM list

Couple questions:
What transport are the Tacts taking? I'm assuming Pods

Are the Centurions catching a ride in the Raven?

If so, I feel that's your weak point the Cents are a big danger and if bad reserves go, you might end up without nearly 500pts (plus the 350pts of Tacts if you are going pods)

But still a good, if generic, list

I would put a tactical unit in the Storm Raven and give te Cents a FA drop pod. You want your Cents in early to get off a solid Alpha Strike, while Tacticals can come in later and grab objectives.

Tacs were going to go in rhinos so I'd have something on the board at the start. As for the Centurions, can they take a drop pod? In the codex I'm only seeing land raiders as a transport option. New to SMs here, correct me if I'm wrong
>>
Post yfw Logan grimnar returns leading 1000 wulfen after spending 500 years in the warp and wrecks the shit out of the dark Angels rock, wakes up the Lion and then has a grand feast with him and his new bro inquisitor with the arco flagellant and jokareo magic act
Then they roast the inquisitor's lite black clad battle sister
>>

Fast Attack drop pod
>>
So do any marine players ever run vehicle squadrons of 3 for the bonuses? I've been looking to include some but there always seem to be better options. Which is a shame because I could field a shitton of them otherwise
>>
>>46157725
Yiffs branded heretics when?
>>
>>46157671
Take a Fast Attack slot Drop Pod for Centurions
Just because they can't take a drop pod as a Dedicated transport doesn't mean they can't get in one.

That does bring you to the issue of having 6 drop pods if you do that.
Meaning only 3 comes in auto (Honor Guard + 2 Stern)

You could try to skim some points to turn 1x10 man Tact into 2x5 Tacts each with a pod bringing you to 7, meaning the Cents come in T1 as well
>>
>>46157808

Whirlwinds are good bonus (especially in the Artillery formation, they basically become SM wyverns)

Predators I'd rather run in single units

Vindicators are silly and gimicky and I personally love it

Hunter/Stalkers - No comment

Land Speeders - Hell no, solo skimmers for days

>GK stern vouchsafes them
>inquisitor vouchsafes them
Note - looks like changeling will at some point in the next 7 short stories attack the inquisitor under the guise of mendaxis
Likely at the same time stern boards the Rock after getting a ship off the fang
So dark Angels have been acting on information from a major tzeentch daemon
Dark angel homos are the one getting purged
Also note - it's cannon that wulfen can control and reverse the change
Compare that to the tolerated black dragons with their bone spurs and Ravenguard and salamanders colour mutations
Add in some new fluff that will show the emperor knew and tolerated the wulfen
Looks like the homos are the baddies just Christian crusaders
>>
>>46157942
WW are nice(and the ones I'd be most likely to run) but for a few points more I can take two TFCs which is pretty tempting
I agree vindis are fun as fuck, and I love them, but I can;t see why I'd take 3 when for the same price I could get a Typhon

I'm seriously considering taking up 30k as well now there's a RoW that lets you take dakka preds as troops, just worried that the list turns out to be super broken and all the players hate me.

>You can't just burn a planet
>It'll kill the daemons without hurting the Wolves
>You can't just burn a planet
>Do you have any better ideas?
>...you can't just burn a planet
Calls himself an Inquisitor and then tries to stop daemons being purged with holy fire.
>It's canon that Wulfen can control and reverse the change.
I'm sure the Wolves currently mutating into slavering beasts will be glad to hear it. That will still be canon when it happens in the story, but there's been no sign of it thus far.

American reading comprehension at work here
“While civilian losses are regrettable,’ de Mornay made a point of glancing at Asmodai, ‘I was referring more to the burning of an entire Great Company of your fellow Adeptus Astartes.’
‘Fire-bombing Midgardia will not damage its underground habitats,’ Azrael said. ‘And that was Grimnar’s last recorded location. If by the Emperor’s will he yet lives, he will be unharmed.’
‘And when he emerges he’ll be stranded in a toxic ash waste.’
‘If you have an alternative suggestion, Lord Inquisitor, by all means share it. I would have thought that as a member of His Holy Ordos you would have rejoiced at the mass annihilation of mankind’s darkest foes.’
‘Rest assured, nothing pleases me more,’ de Mornay said. ‘But less so if the victory comes at the price of one of the Imperium’s greatest leaders.’
‘I never thought I would live to hear the Inquisition praising Logan Grimnar.’
‘Times can change, Azrael. A”

That "A" at the end better be his better idea being cut off, then. There's no argument here but "I can't suck Grimnar's cock if there's poison on it." Inquisitors have burned worlds for less than being covered in daemons at greater cost.

“es can change, Azrael. As can the topic of conversation. What were you doing on Nurades?’
Azrael’s jaw clenched.
‘We were purging one of the Emperor’s worlds of daemonic infestation.’
‘And just how many daemons did you banish there? Did the Wolves leave any for you? An entire Lion’s Blade Strike Force deployed to cleanse an infestation that had been wiped out days earlier?’
‘Is this a line of questioning, or just an opportunity for gross insults? Your grudge-bearing does you no credit, de Mornay. I don’t need to humour you, not even for a moment.’
‘What were you looking for in the polar ruins, Azrael? What were your Scouts guarding?’
‘That squad was inserted ahead of our main strike force. If you have any real questions, de Mornay, I suggest you start by asking the Wolves how they died. That is what we first came here to redress.’
‘There is no evidence the Wolves have attacked Imperial citizens.”
“Can the same be said of your Chapter, Azrael?’
‘Their monsters butchered a squad of my Tenth Company,’ Azrael snapped, his reserve finally eroded. ‘We have pict footage of it.’
‘Shame you don’t also have footage of how the sole survivor of said butchering disappeared,’ de Mornay shot back. ‘And from within the depths of this very fortress-monastery no less. Something here is not what it seems.’ The inquisitor’s gaze swung across the bridge, lingering on the communications pit where Mendaxis was bending low to review a spool of data parchment.
‘Choose your next words carefully, de Mornay.’
‘I smell the reek of the warp here, Azrael.”

What size magnets do you guys use to magnetise XV8 Crisis Suits?

Miniwarhaming suggested 3mmx1.5mm (1/8" x 1/16") and I retardely bought them before watching videos where people are using smaller magnets (albeit on the older kits). I'm having a hard time finding a hand drill thing that will fix the fucking drillbit over 2.9mm that isn't from China

Oh I agree with both points.

My meta is pretty casual with a lot of melee. Where my Whirlwinds are usually driving away from danger so I can only imagine the TFC being effectively immobilized

Ok so here's a rules question that seems pointless but only really benefits Tzeentch.

Rules for Harbinger of Tzeetnch, like for all the other gods, states that units from the formation within 12" are effected by whatever Locus the Herald has and it stacks if they're already under the effect of a Locus.

Does this let you stack two of the same Loci?

Would only really work well with Locus of Conjuration, but if it does it means you can stack +3S on Tzeentch powers meaning S8 Flickering fire and even then, it would only take effect when it's the Pink Horrors themselves casting.
>>

I'd be careful around any Inquisitors if I were you.
>>
Ok, another dumb Dreadnought question: If they buy a missile launcher, does it come with Flakk missiles included? It doesn't specify in the Codex, but for other units it specifies 'with frag and krak'.
>>
>>46159875
I believe this is a debated topic
>>
>>46159875
can't stack loci like that. loci of the same level don't do that. +2 strength is still good
>>

If the missile launcher weapon profile has all 3 in it by default and does not say "must buy flakk", then all missile launchers come with all 3 profiles by default, unless specified otherwise
>>

It comes with frag and krak to start, I think. Been a while since I checked though.

>>
>>46159928

>>46159936
>loci of the same level don't do that
Where does it say this though?

It only says it in the part of the rules which the Harbinger of Tzeentch rule says you ignore.
>>
>>46159903
You're not going to get Skyfire with a normal Dreadnought, instead just take a Mortis Pattern Dreadnought from IA2. It costs 20 points more, and can dual-wield either Lascannons or Missile Launchers, and it gains the ability to voluntarily choose whether it has Skyfire-interceptor each turn.

Because nothing says fuck flyers better than a rifleman with quad-lascannons blowing fighters out of the sky before they even get to shoot.
>>
Has it ever been discussed what happens to space marine recruits that dont make the cut? Wasn't it something like 1 space marine for every 1000 recruits or something crazy like that?

I'd imagine not every recruit dying in training, some might just not be mentally strong enough or get fed up with the chapter. Do they just execute them or is there literally millions of failed space marines all over the imperium? Might make an interesting rpg character if we ever decide to visit the setting with my d&d group.
>>
>>46159903
Unless it says otherwise you would get access to all of the firing profiles on it.

As far as the Incursion goes, I don't have the rules for it and from what I can find it seems not that great as it has massive requirements and only okay choices.
I've never run Furies before but sending in screamers to bust vehicles and sponge shots first turn works surprisingly well.

They could have Bile's new recruits as a baseline, being basically crappy marines, possibly without even higher WS/BS from lack of training.

>>
>>46160074
>doesn't it say that in the daemon book? otherwise i can't argue against it
the book doesn't really influence the ruling at all.

The rule hinges on what "another" refers to - whether it means any other Locus or a Locus of a different type.

I'd argue that RAW it currently means any other as if it meant only different Locus' then writing "different" would express that clearly whilst making no difference to how the rules work.

It's not as strong as it seems though.

Only pink horrors can get +3S on their powers and being BS3 and only ML1 it's not nearly as strong as if a Herald could get it.

That said, S8 means no FnP for T4 which side-steps the main hiccup of Tzeentch witchfires.

I figured that those would basically be the bottom of the barrel rejects that he'd be passing out to other people, saving the sweet strength 5 marines for himself.

This also wouldn't be inferior genetics either, it'd be them being 'new' and thus having WS/BS 3 like how scouts used to have, with the excuse being that Chaos wouldn't be training people as strictly.

Then, start them off without power armor and you can basically justify them being 7 or 8 points each, and then you can build your ideal Chaos Marine from there.

Just because the process is more deadly doesn't make the end result objectively better. You'd still get S4 T4 W1 Marines because they're already the best and since the Cursed Foundings, Loyalists probably run stringency tolerances of less than 0.1%. That 1 in 100 potentiates reach this standard means the Loyalists' method is more reliable and repeatable.

What did I make up? Bile's logic is that by killing a higher percentage of the aspirants, the survivors must be better. The problem with using the death rate as a metric is that it only selects for comparibility with his methods, not for utility. If a daemon snuck into the lab and killed half his candidates, the survivors would be better for their ability to fight the daemon, not for making his selection criteria.

Now it makes sense. CSM players need to learn that they'll never get Grav because the Chaos Gods/daemons wouldn't allow it. Abaddon is getting tired of daemons being stuck into everything and that's all the Warpsmiths and Dark AdMech are allowed/know how to do. Already having people who are probably in their 30s or had their dads introduce them to the hobby as kids talking shit 24/7. I just ignore them, but god damn, what do you 30+ year old guys get out of shit talking a 20 year old in college?

>I don't want to be a list tailoring bastard against one of the weakest armies in the game, but I'm going to anyways
I hope you choke to death on Flyrants.
>>

people hate people dude

Is it an American thing? I can't ever imagine a person talking shit about somebody else's paint job unless it's friendly banter with someone you would call a friend, who knows you're just taking the piss.

Sounds like you're either getting some bants and taking it seriously, or interacting with high-level tier autists. The latter tend to play Warmachine and loathe 40k in my experience though.

Tyranids are the weakest?
Shit.

I don't see them at all at my store so I had no idea about their strength.

I'll just use my sillier list then, I don't want to be that asshole.

And as far as I know, he's planning to throw a Flyrant, a Tervigon, some Zoanthropes and other shit at me and I have no idea how to fight them. Maybe he'll serve some justice and kick my ass.
>>
>>46162876
You need at least 60 multi-meltas to stand a chance if he brings a Flyrant.
>>
>>46163045
It might be an American thing.

I'm fine with banter, my friends and I talk shit to each other all the time, but these guys seem genuinely annoyed by our subpar paint jobs.

Might even just be a Boston thing....

Massholes gonna be massholes
>>
>>46163060
Just use walkers and vehicles. Tyranids only have smash attacks and carnifexes to kill armor.
>>
>>46163041
>she doesn't even have a penis.jpg
>>
>>46163232
I think he has a Carnifex.

We'll see how it goes. Will be funny if I get destroyed, desu.
>>
>>46163024
Friendly reminder that swapping one special weapon in one tactical squad against tyranids makes you list tailoring scum and worst person ever and makes it ok for the nid player to bring 5 flyrants.
This psa was brought to you by united npc factions
>>
>>46163279
Well he's gonna have to charge it to get his heavier d3 charge attacks.
If it's shooty, don't worry about it. If it's got crush claws then just back up and let it wade through difficult terrain.
Just use flamers on the small stuff, heavy weapon anything with more than two wounds, and the flyrant might kill itself with perils.

daemons can summon troops with characters/icons/instruments for free so there's actual incentive to summon them vs. just pay for them

Greater daemons and daemon princes are almost all competitively great units and rewards are baller as fuck so daemons can really play any way you'd like between MSU and 4 (F)MC beatstick lists.
>>
>>46163233
while you may have dubs i'm gonna have to ask you to leave nicedaemonette

ND hates dicks.
>>
>>46159875
No, harbinger rules only apply to other units in the same formation and you're strictly limited to 1 herald per core/auxiliary

You just have to settle for +2S for the formation units near the locus.

Yes. You'll just have to settle for pink horrors with autocannons.

They're collecting them to make things worse.

Don't get too happy, the Sunday answers will consist of the following

>Does stealth stack with stealth for a 2+ save.

No! Stealth only applies once and doesn't stack.

Repeat ad infinitum.

they don't and you're a retard.
>>
>>46163097
As a mid-30s guy, I'm sorry. I blame it on East Coast stuffiness.

Do thin your paints, though!
>>
Are sonic noise marines any good to use?
>>
Yeah, like GW are actually going to answer the "When the fuck are you going to stop raping Ork players" and "CSM codex when" questions.

Also "fuck Eldar"
>>
>>46163555
>yfw
>your face when
>when, as in it's not happened but if it did at some future point
Everyone else got the joke so I'm gonna go ahead and suggest you're the retard
>>
Speaking of CSM, Is it worth taking Typhus?

I'm doing Death Guard, and since we actually have a fucking character, I'd like to take him for fluff reasons, but is it worth it on the table?
>>
>>46163642
Seeing as they're asking for rule questions, yeah they're not going to ask this. But having seen the majority of people asking questions and their inability to read not only the post but basic rules in GW, it doesn't surprise me those questions are being asked.
>>
>>46163608
Much much better then the non-sonic variety.
