Re-post from the end of last thread.
/tg/ what's the last rule you read recently and went 'oh shit that's way better than I was playing it as'?
I just re-read servo skulls, didn't realize it also blocked scout moves as well as infiltration. I was playing it as blocking infiltrate only.
I really need to stop late night ebaying.
I woke up and apparently I'm waiting for 3 Killa Kans, a Dakka Jet, 5 Stormboys, and 20 Grots to be delivered.
I have no memory of buying these things.
Hammers of Dorn are better then Ultrmarines.
It's a fact.

Orks are bad and Ork players should feel bad.

Link is dead.
>>46144176
why should I feel bad for playing an army that's fun to play.
>>46144204
Because I'm buying up Ork models on eBay and I want people to sell low.
>>46144233
so you're that asshole who outbid me on that deathskulls trukk today!
So I have a rather poor CSM army right now and I'm aiming for a Noise Marine styled army and I'm trying to think of what I should put in my other slots cause I have troops figured out, but now I'm now looking at elite, fast, and heavy. For fast I'm leaning towards Raptors and that's what I mainly want to ask about
Are Raptors worth taking if I don't want/have Heldrakes? I love their new models
>>46144383
The question worth asking before giving advice is how competitive are you/is your local meta?
Dark Mechanicus Design Philosophy:
>Take a vehicle
>Put a daemon in it
>????
>Profit
That about the gist of it?
>>46144491
>weld that fucker in
You don't want the daemon getting out anon they're a bugger to get back in the tin.
Where can I find pdfs of the Imperial Armour books?
I'm trying to grab a pdf on the 13th volume to read about the Traitor Guard and I decided I might as well try to locate all of the currently released ones.
>>46144150
Slow and Purposeful, I thought they had to always roll for difficult terrain.
>>46144171
Do they ever get friendly fire'd on for looking like better versions of the Black Legion?
>>46144468
I haven't played but from what I understand from what I've been told by a coworker is we apparently have a lot of little tournies in the area so I imagine it's pretty competitive. But also considering I brought my CSM with me instead of my DE I already gave up on being competitive with my little chaos army
>>46144170
Do you drink or take any other substances during these late nights?
When I got home from a great night of 40k yesterday I had $170 in my eBay cart before shaking it off.
Every time I get a game in my wallet burns for more plastic.
At this point I have trained my drunk self to leave the cart for me to check in the morning and either improve or deny the whole thing.
Instead of all four boxes I need I just got one to hold me over for now.
>>46144556
Of course not, they're far too loyal for that.
There's also the bit where they decided to take on the Word Bearers because the Ultramarines still haven't beaten them yet.
>>46144196
Change the V6 to V7
>>46144649
>black, gold and red with a big-fuck-off-fur-shoulder
Someone taking so many design cues from Horus shouldn't look so loyal, but umf, by the Emperor he does.
>>46144586
Shit I thought I was the only one who drunk-bought 40k, but here's two other anons who also do it. Last nights haul appears to be just shitty Black Library books, but I fear for my wallet the day that the CSM range gets updated.
Is it heresy for loyalists to wear horned helmets?

When my opponent told me my whole squad had Zealot because of my Chappy it made so much more sense why people like them.
>>46144937
No but he had red elsewhere on his armour.
And I just love pelts dude.
I'm just happy to see someone other than a Space Wolf or Luns Wolf/Black Legion wear one.

115 point for a 6 TL autocannon shots with rending, and it has a lot of utilities.
It can deepstrike to hit the rear of the vehicles, it has a teleport that makes him stay on the field, it has a 5+ invul so you don't need to jink, and reroll 1 to wound against a flier of you choosing.
It's fragile, but it's really nice.

18 Shootas will inflict 12 S4 hits, followed by 24 S4 hits in assault.
18 Boys in assault will inflict 36 S4 hits, after an additional 6 S4 hits from Sluggas for a point less a piece.
This assumes the Boyz lose no models before they strike, and that they're facing WS4 opponents.
It really depends, where is it safer to have your boys? In assault where they can't get shot, or not losing boys before they strike. Both have their place, however if Boys charge Necrons, Tau, or something with unwieldy, Slugga Boys are ded killyier.

Yes, I'm bringing up something this old, because I'm tired of you faggots flopping around on /tg/ not realizing how fucking stupid you are.
>>46146208
Yeah, but they tend to just shoot whatever they want, rather than what you want them to shoot.
Gods help you if they get loose and break their bindings, too. That's a fucking catastrophe waiting to happen.
>>46146212
And pretending that because you totally won the game with a single squad of nobs that one time makes them good is even less helpful.
Mathhammer can tell you what you can expect out of a particular unit. It's a way to make judgements in a vacuum. Obviously, in a real battle, not all of that math is going to hold up. Sometimes the dice don't go your way, or the terrain doesn't suit your force.
That doesn't make Mathhammer useless, and it doesn't mean that a unit you've had success with is good and everyone else just 'isn't seeing it' or whatever.
>>46146176

>>46146270
>Gods help you if they get loose and break their bindings, too.
Then you didn't build it right. The whole reason we LEFT the corpsefuckers behind was so we could INNOVATE! Engineer it however you want, just make sure those uppity batteries stay where they belong; powering my fucking brake lights.
>>46146193

>>46146313
>In a vaccum
But the game is not a vacuum, same reason noone sane would let a mathematician design their house.
>>46146457
They get two which is why they can be very deadly harassers, just don't get too attached to them.
>>46146352
>Noone said Nobs were good
Nobody needed to. It literally doesn't matter what unit it was.
>>46145908 claimed 13 boys with heavy armor and a nob with a big choppa, footslogging, won him the game. It doesn't matter what it was, since he could have said anything.
That aside, there are a ton of different reasons why that might have worked in that case, when mathhammer shows that there would be better options for the same points.
Maybe he's right and they are amazing? Maybe he's a tactical genius and just doesn't realize it? Or maybe his footslogging troops got ignored and ended up having rolls go very well in their favor.
The thing Mathhammer does is let you answer the question of whether or not something else
would have done just as well, if not better. Does that Nob need a Big Choppa? Would he be better served just buying another Boy? Would ditching the heavy armor for more boys work better? Would ditching the heavy armor for a trukk work better?
You can't just say 'I use this and it won me a game once' and except everyone to just throw down their hands. Winning one game with one unit doesn't make it good.
>>46146500
Knowing the percentage of success of a particular action is pretty helpful in making good decisions in a game though.

>But the game is not a vacuum, same reason noone sane would let a mathematician design their house.
But you're not saying that. You're saying that because you managed to build a structure that didn't immediately fall over, that you can throw out numbers entirely and not bother measuring silly things like the size of boards or how much weight your bearings can support.
Numbers are important.
>>46146503
Ok then. I wish I hadn't given the Raptor Champion lightning claws now, but then most of my champion models are based on Rule of Cool, not really points.
>>46146625
Attach a flamer to the claws. Thinking of which, for a 20 point investment (which is blood expensive for a 95 unit already) you can give your raptors 2x flamers + your champion a combi-flamer for 3 templates after deep striking.
>>46146264
But 5E did have flyers.
It didn't have flyer rules. They were skimmers with added rules

Yes. Just understand they will probably die horribly, though not before forcing your opponent to divert resources to protect backfield units.
I run a mono-Slaanesh list like you want to, and I use two Raptor Squads and either a Heldrake or unit of 3 Spawn. All of them are pretty effective if used correctly, and I'm trying to get a Storm Eagle to drop my Raptors out of so they can drop in and fuck shit up Turn 2.
>>46146208
>Cheap
Hoooooooooooooo boy. You may not see the cost, but there absolutely will be one...
So here's a question.
Was there ever an update to the Vortex Deathstrike missile Apoc formation? Because 7th ed appears to have made it...meaner, as far as I can tell.
If there's no errata, it remains a 10" wide 'fuck you' plate that instagibs every unit except superheavies and GMC's (which also stand a good chance of getting rekt, since it eats d3 SP, which would update to d3*3 HP, and GMCs take d6 HP), leaving behind a vortex effect.
If it HAS been errata'd to a 10" Vortex weapon, then it hits as a Destroyer weapon (which may or may not be WORSE) and then leaves behind a TEN-INCH VORTEX (vortexes are the same size as the blast that created them), which even on an apoc table will consume a good chunk of the table before dissappearing.

Also, if something looks out of place it's probably because I already have the model and I wanted to include it after I got the necessities done with. (I won't list-spam, I promise, dad.)

You're a moron. All discussion against those races assumes you play optimally. No shit it's bad advice to say "that army is hard if you play like shit against them" you dumb fuck.
Null deploying with an army that isn't built for it or a race that simply can't will also get you killed. Have fun slowly trickling in your forces as they get removed instantly by the Stormsurges or teleport into rocks/fall in lava/scatter off the board.

You write your LIST as a legal list.
You then add in your post

Still doesn't excuse your 'Artillery' and 'Vehicle (Walker)' slots.

Nowhere in that post was that implied. Try again but without less butthurt autism and strawmanning.

I had my last game with the LGS' Orkbro today. Ork-bro had a kill-points game against a Gladius, where he got 7 points to my 0 over the course of 5 turns. It was a great and fun game, but after the game, my ork-bro approached me to tell me that he was quitting 40k. He was tired of playing a faction that only wins once every 20 games, and having games where he takes out over a hundred models, and puts them back in almost as fast as he takes them out..
I'll miss him dearly... Now the only person left at my LGS is the salty veteran chaos player, who was so excited to tell me about some new chaos leaks today.

To assemble a Z rhino/razorback, all you must merely do is assemble the tracks and base as normal. Then use high-grit sandpaper to file down the entire lengthwise tabs on the top of the track assemblies to half height.
Once that is done, the entire top of the tank slides in place like a goddamn glove. Done. That's it. You now know how to assemble a Z razorback/rhino in under 20 minutes.

I'd always wanted to start the Dark Eldar but their old models (minus the still good looking old Incubi) were pretty horrendous and they were a c-string army that everyone was saying was either going to be scrapped or updated soon. So I waited.
Then the little teaser in a White Dwarf showed them and everyone freaked out. GW really nailed the Dark Eldar redesign. The Wych box was the first I bought and I still love all the variety that comes in it and all the other kits. It's so easy to mix and match.

Out of all the messed up shit in 40K I think being in the presence of Haemonculi would have to be near the top of the list. They did a good job on the "fucked up and horrifying" department with them.

>>46152703
>>all i would need are 5 extra bases, legs and front torsos and I could make a set of deathmarks along with the immortals
Most kits are like this. Bases are easy to get on eBay or if you just have extras lying around as most players do. The real issue is finding the legs as they are always the limiting piece in every box. GW gives lots of extra pieces, but they never give you extra legs, except in the Space Marine Devastator box.
>>46152703
You could easily solve the leg issue by trying out the Lamia Pattern bodies. It's as simple as using 14gauge Florist Wire, and gluing PVC pipes to them. Except now you have Lamia necrons, which are a whole different kind of fun.

>necron triarch stalker gives warriors BS5 passively and proceeds to one shot the space marines dreadnaught as soon as it moves into range.
>necrons sprays down the marines hitting on 2's by the end of it it's just the SM HQ in terminator armor getting mobbed by the overlord and like 8 warriors + 3 scarab swarms while the stalker sits around waiting to just shoot it twice with 2 s8 ap 1 melta shots.

Nice Greek shields m9.

>Imperial Guard should be Battle Brothers with Chaos
No, because that's what Lost and the Damned is for.
>and Tau
No, because that's what Gue'vesa are for. Gue'vesa should be brought back.
I've been away for awhile, anything happen other than Tau are OP? Last I checked in Deathwatch leaked.
Also what's the sekret model my GW store manager is telling me about for the SM 30th birthday?
>>46153022
>what's the sekret model my GW store manager is telling me about for the SM 30th birthday?
Don't tell anyone, but I have insider info that it's a space marine of sorts.
>>46153022
Curse of the Wulfen. Deathwatch etc.
>>46148760
Why is her hair a Screamer-Killer?
>>46153022
I forgot exactly when DW was leaked, but the plastic 30k marine box came out, SW got Wulfen, Tau got more OP and a stupid superheavy, Eldar got even more OP, a couple useless books came out for Orks and IG, and RG became good and White Scars got even more OP.
And of course the leaked DW came out.
>>46153058
>>46153038
Well I guess I haven't missed anything then.
What's on the rumor mill? Has the Prophet Sad Panda spoken?
>>46153096
definitely not orks
word is Age of Sigmar is getting the focus this year
>>46153105
I fucking hate AoS, at least fantasy had good shit, AoS is just a cluster fuck of shit trying to make sense.
>>46153122
you're preaching to the choir buddy
I don't think I've ever seen a single person play that abortion of a game
>>46153133
>tfw constant AOS games at my flg and almost no 40k
tho there being a campaign with some decent rules probably affects it a lot to
>>46153189
same is my GW. tons of AoS because they are running a campaign for it atm.
AoS needs some structured play. Be it point-system or organization chart.
>>46153198
My GW consists of a large amount of kids playing LotR on 40k tables while aspie 40k players hover around the shop like roombas waiting on pick up games.
>>46153219
people actually play LotR??
>>46153219
I haven't seen a LOTR game for almost a decade
Do you use a color wheel or something to plan your color schemes? Which tool do you use?
>>46153237
>>46153244
Yeah seriously, I was really surprised but it turns out the kids really like it. I went in once to get help deciding on a paint scheme and had to sit between 5 kids silently painting trolls and gondor dudes. Never again.
>Finally manage to convince fellow Chaos player that likes Khorne and has been understandably demoralized by 7e to do a Path to Glory campaign with me
>He has been reluctant to play for a long time due to his Terminator/Beserker-heavy army being mostly trash
>Short version is that the objective of the campaign is to gain enough favor to turn into a Demon Prince (or randomly become one) and win one game as a DP
>Actually pretty fun game where we nearly table one another and it came down to the wire (I barely won with my god being Tzeentch, which I was secretly a little unhappy about because I'd half hoped if he won it would encourage him a bit)
>Do our first post game roll on the Eyes of the Gods table
>I roll double 6s and immediately become a Demon Prince
>Our campaign that took me weeks to convince him to even try might be over on game 2
T-thanks, Tzeentch...
>>46152908
Woah shit thats awesome
>>46153219
Ha mines the same minus the LotR. a lot of players in the campaign looking to get their weekly games in before it updates playing on most of the tables, some 40k players hogging the painting area and few hanging around watching and waiting for the campaign players to finish so they can play some 40k with whoever is hanging around.
>>46153219
We just use Whatsapp to organize battles in advance. There's a general one for all players in the store.
>>46153356
I just hate the fucking wolf legs, if I ever buy this this models I would also get some assault marines legs for this guys.
>>46153271
I don't use anything because I don't have shit taste.
Just keep your scheme simple and it will be hard to fuck up. Two colors maximum, no three or four color bullshit. Have your shoulders or helm or whatever be an easy to match color such as black or white or a bronze/gold metallic.
Look at official color schemes. Does yours look similar to those but with different colors? No? Why the fuck doesn't it? Stop throwing a billion colors on random parts.
>>46153316
This sounds awesome, im going to play this with my Khorne buddy when my Thousand Sons get here
>>46153409
>The Imperium does not inter fallen pilots in tanks as grafted life support because they don't have the technology.
Or because a trained tanker is a tiny fraction of the cost of a space marine, so they just don't.
>>46153465
We pooled all of our models together and rolled on the retinue table to decide what our lists were instead of choosing our armies. It was a fun way to keep things relatively balanced. It's how I ended up with a retinue of 3 10-man squads of CSM with MoT, 2 5-man Raptor squads with MoT, and a Heldrake. It was not in Tzeentch's unknowable plans to grant me some variety in my army...
Is the daemon stuff from curse of the wulfen in the megaupload dump yet?
>>46151312
if you actually paint those models and have full time job, instead of playing with grey plastic and beeing unemployed, this hobby is really affordable and one box of miniatures keeps you busy for quite some time
>>46153284
I'm not surprised. LOTR is a small model count game and the miniatures are pretty damn good. And the rules ain't shite.
>>46153686
I work for twelve weeks a year and still afford some. Sure, i can't play a whole army of FW, but i have two 1500 point armies, a 1000 point army and am working on my marines atm.
>>46153686
>implying that the 40k models might actually be worth it
prepare to be called a shill by immature idiots who can't comprehend that somebody might have a different opinion to them.
>>46154145
>53 minutes later
nah
>>46153476
Space marine tanks are piloted by space marines you moron. Stop talking if you clearly have no idea about the setting.
>>46154181
>pointing out the time
What are you some sort of clock shill? Fuck off Timex nobody wants you here.
>>46154204
But that'd kill 40k General.
How would changing AP to RT style save modifier work?Noone cares about terminators, but just for the fun of it let crux terminatus guarantee them at least a 4+ no matter the modifier
>>46152552
Rhinos to bring them to midfield and enough aspiring sorcerors to make the squads small enough to fit in them (10max)
Given the current codex, i would also consider some small cultist squads to have cheap objective holders. (fluffwise CSM sorcerors are know to create cults everywhere)
As the TS have little anti-tank capability, you might want to look into some. I found autocannon havocs rather good, but getting the models can be a pain in the ass. So you might want a predator with lascannon sponsons.
Its always a good idea to bring something with meltaguns, maybe combi-melta on the Rhinos
Avoid giving everything Mark of Tzeentch, its often really bad, just run them unmarked.
Ignore arimahn, hes too expensive or use him as generic sorceror
Buy your HQ sorcerors Spell familiars and use the Warhammer AoS Chaos Familiars to model them while they are still available.(pic related)
>>46148298
This. Terminator squads where every model had an assault cannon and a cyclone missile launcher.
This BullShit was long before 5E
>>46153686
Regardless of 'affordability' they're still hideously overpriced.shill
>>46154571
Someone on the rules team has always had a hard-on for the Wolves so what else is new.I do find it odd that their Dreads weren't updated to the new 4A stat line though.
Actually if I remember correctly I thought that they hated Dreadnoughts on principle: something about it being an ignoble way to treat dead warriors or something.
And now they're sitting on the only 3++ save Dread and also being one of the few Codexes with multiple character Dreads.
>>46154742
Those are the white scars, and I also find it weird since the tau were first updated and then received the campaign books almost at the same time.
>>46154766
Feels good, high five gue'la.

Probably really tasteless, I doubt they even cultivate any spices and they'll no doubt skimp on the meat. Plus it'll be full of MSG.
How do people in military bases oversees transport their models? Is it worth it?
