What the other Anons said.

>>45998730
Spellshapers discard cards to mimic the effects of instants and sorceries. So a type change is in order. Also, space between the comma and the tap symbol, just like in regular sentence use. I am not a fan of what can happen with this since it can untap itself. That usually leads to degeneracy.

>>45998754
Casting exiled cards without paying their mana cost if you don't own them is UB, typically. This could be UBG.

>>45998847
Black doesn't do tapping like this. It can have some land hate, but it's usually destruction, not tapping. Blue can tap lands though.

>>45998867
Neat. But really effing strong. Like, dear god.

>>45998903
I commented on this last time I saw it; Changes were made that I suggested, so perfectly fine.

>>45998910
It looks like E.T. is wearing someone's face. Jesus fuck. This is cool, but I think it'd be cooler if it came out as a copy of a creature in your graveyard. More interesting interaction with Delve. As it is, there's no real strategy behind it, it's just goodstuff.

>>45998933
A counter on a stick that can untap itself is going to be degenerate.

>>45998938
Neat. I like this. I dunno if it needs to be a touch pricier because of its last ability, but it's still cool as fuck.

>>45998963

Actually no. It was made by people familiar with the Hymn to Tourach, likely his followers, long after his death. Also, despite being associated with the Hymn, it is also more likely that it was made by his followers. And honestly, I think turning Tourach into a Black Jaya is just dull.

I haven't made any progress in a long while. I'm getting close to the end in terms of numbers, I don't need to add very many more cards. But in terms of play testing, well, it's been years since I last tried that. No one seems to want to try it out digitally using Lackey. After a lot of searching on the internets I finally figured out how to add a custom set to Lackey... but no on was willing to play, lol. Looks like I'll have to print the whole set even though I'll likely change a good number of them and have to reprint later.

>Unfortunately, I don't have a great way to represent "worthiness"
Colors would probably be your best bet. I would say "Mjolnir can only be attached to a white creature." Being legendary wouldn't have fuck-all to do with it: would any superhero (or villain) be legendary? But the color white is associated with honor, valor, courage "worthyness" traits. It wouldn't exclude creatures of other colors (Thor would be red and white IMO) but white should be the requirement.

And I feel like the Legendary requirement is pretty bleh. Having relatively random (but worthy) dudes pick up the hammer and be Thor for a while is a major thing. In fact, I would consider including a clause on the Hammer "While a card you own named Thor is in your graveyard or in exile, equipped creature is a copy of that card." because that's exactly what happens.
>>
>>46005614
>But the color white is associated with honor, valor, courage "worthyness" traits.
And before you jump down by throat /tg/, yes I know this isn't all that white is about, white does not have a monopoly on these traits, and not all white creatures display these traits. But it's a hell of a better test for Mjolnir than "legendary" is and about the closest I can think of to what CO guy is looking for flavor-wise.

Interestingly, I think that wording would mean that a creature that LOSES the color white would automatically drop the hammer, which is neat, because Thor suddenly becoming unworthy does make him unable to wield the hammer from time to time.
>>
>>46005556

Eh, I'll think on it. At this point, I might just cut the card entirely and incorporate Mjolnir as a token created by Thor when he ETB. Though I would like you to know that I've done the "This equipment turns a creature into someone else" thing and I actually do like it, with the attached pic obviously turning the equipped creature into Doctor Fate. However, I'm not going to have it mess with the name and make it legendary, because then it would get kinda weird since Equipment don't have to be controlled by the creature's controller, so you could have this odd situation where you control two Doctor Fates and have to sac one. To fix it, I'd have to add another clause that would just clutter the card, so I'm just leaving it like this.

OP if designing for non-rotating formats, if you don't care about those, it is pretty cool though and could be fine for standard/block constructed/draft depending on the circumstance.
If you are designing for non-rotating (or if it still proves too powerful for whatever you are designing for) you could make the trigger cost some amount of something to activate.
>>45999346
I like combo decks and all, but I'm not sure the purpose of making a combo (best in combo/aggro I know) card difficult to interact with in general.
I'm not even talking about abusing the untap function, any card that makes you pay life at will turns this into 'if I have more life than you I instantly win'.
That being said, I don't know how to fix it exactly.

Second ability should make him a Human Royal. Also you should either include the Sarkhan reminder text (He doesn't lose loyalty while he's not a planeswalker.) or Gideonify him with "that's still a planeswalker. Prevent all damage that would be dealt to him this turn."

The reverse martyr effect on his first ability is kinda cool. Nearly impossible to kill him, though, and he turns into repeated removal. Not sure how much I like it.

Thank you. I added the Human bit, but I intentionally left off the reminder text for the sake of font size. It's not actually going to print, after all.
With how slow he is, I don't anticipate the -5 being a real powerhouse -- even in the magical christmas land where he goes completely uninterrupted, you get to zap a guy five and eight turns after dropping him, or five-nine-twelve-fifteen if you're willing to take it even slower. The creature side makes him a super weak late draw.

Yeah, fair enough. But on the creature side I would almost attach a clause that says if he attacked this combat. Otherwise you synergize with, I dunno, some stupid +1/+1 counter pump spell and he flips immediately.

On the other hand, you'd be playing a +1/+1 counter pump spell and that's usually a dumb thing to do, so it's probably fine. Artificially level up your hero king.

>>46010694
You can't cast it from your hand according to the first ability.

Also, I would merge the second and third abilities, then make the fifth ability read "At the beginning of your next upkeep, you lose the game."
>>
>>46011109
Oh, wait, it's an instant. Make it you lose on your next end step then, so you can do it on their turn then untap and play.

The reason I wanted to keep combat out of it and make it have to die in order for people to receive the benefit was because there are a lot of creatures with guns and ping abilities and stuff in the set and I wanted to make it so that it was like the Zebroth was being hunted and killed for its meat. I suppose I could change it so that it had to be during combat since most (if not all) of my ping effects only happen vs creatures that are attacking or blocking.

difficult to cast 5 mana card that's a 6/3 flyer with 2 free super vapor snags on hit.
the mana cost makes it pretty situational so I would say it's alright. the only possible change I would make is changing the super vapor snag to just normal unsummons.

Too much complexity for an uncommon, I'd put it at rare with that much text.

To make it an uncommon, I'd bring it down to 2/1 and remove the must-attack clause and make it so that another target creature gains haste instead.

>Spitfire Elemental 1R
>Creature - Elemental Warrior
>2/1

>When ~ enters the battlefield, another target creature you control gains haste until end of turn.

I just don't see those as "horrors" really. To me horrors are eldritch abominations which fuck over your sanity and are not entirely of our world. It's the sanity element that makes them horrors: they are literally named after the emotional damage they provoke. Because mind-damaging effects are U/B, it stands to reason that horrors should be U/B.

This isn't a "you're wrong" post, btw, this is a "I disagree with you" post. What is and isn't a horror is totally subjective and even WotC has gone back and forth to some degree.

I see. I kinda think about horrors as inexplicable beings. Unbounded by reason or any form of order. With unknown motivations or behaviors.

Kinda like black and green phyrexia. But you're right, it's something subjective.

Maybe we could agree that it varies from set to set?
>>
>>46017878
The things you're posting I would classify as "beasts". To me the idea of green mana and horrors (which should be outside the bounds of nature) are antithetical. Eating other creatures, eating corpses, parasitism, disease, all of those are concepts well founded in the natural world, and while such beasts cause revulsion or fear, "horror" is IMO something else, an element of incomprehensibility, a "this cannot be" concept which works best with creatures that are not a part of nature as we know it.

>Maybe we could agree that it varies from set to set?
Of course it does, and there are sets in which horrors are BG. Presumably even incomprehensible extra-planar horrors are a part of nature in whatever plane they call home.

Well, not really all Horrors here are. The B/G are kinda like the ones you described but more like hybrids between normal Horrors and beings from the plane, and the pure G are even more "beast-like" since they represent beings from the plane that got corrupted and/or driven to Madness.

But the pure B ones are more like you described after. Their behavior cannot actually be comprehended aside from "Death and Madness will come to all". It's like horrors in this plane are corporeal representations of Death and it's aspects (Doom, Madness, Disease, etc).

>>46018584
Because objects don't remember what they were before when they change zones, this needs to be worded like so:
>...When that creature dies this turn, return {a card named} Nightgaunt from its owner's graveyard to the battlefield under its owner's control.

>>46018372
Seconding the G/B suggestion. I like the way it's constantly "rotting."

>>46018346
Hellbent isn't really necessary (it's a Rakdos thing), but in any case, the wording should be:
>As long as you have no cards in hand, skip your draw step.
I like the idea of being completely locked out of card draw when hellbent, but a 4/4 hexproof for 4 with a (slight) downside could be powered-up a little. Perhaps you could make the ability affect both players? That would be cool. (By the way, your grammar is pretty much perfect.)

>-2: Put an Equipment card from your hand onto the battlefield with a mastercraft counter on it. You may attach to a creature you control.
>-7: You get an emblem with "Whenever a creature you control is dealt damage, put that many +1/+1 counters on it."
>>
>>46018584
Wouldn't three nightgaunts create an infinite loop?
1. Nightgaunt A dies and targets Nightgaunt B
2. This kills Nightgaunt B and Nightgaunt A comes back
3. Nightgaunt B dies (in step 2) and targets Nightgaunt C
4. This kills Nightgaunt C and Nightgaunt B comes back.
5. When Nightgaunt C dies (in step 4) it targets Nightgaunt A
6. Return to step 1.

Use it to generate as many ETB triggers as you want.

Also kind of silly how easily you can use this with any sac engine to just one-shot all the 1/1s on the board in one go, for free. Or if you have 2 of them out use that sac engine to kill all the 2/2s.

Well, when it comes to rarity, I hadn't even really started to establish that. Most rarities were just a guess when I made the card.

As for themes and abilities I wanted to add in a lot of things from time spiral, one of my favorite sets. This is going to be a cube, not a commercially available set for newbies to play at FNM so I don't feel like I need to keep the number of themes or keywords to a minimum.

>>46019957
Not bad. I believe you need to state that it checks for "greater power than equipped creature's power." Should probably have a normal but expensive equip cost.

I get the tribal thing, but it being huge AND getting keywords from you controlling more Horrors is pretty strong at 4 mana, even in two colors. It's very likely that when you drop this, it's gonna be a 5/5 at least, and as long as you can defend it, you can probably keep it hexproofed for most of the time it's on the board. I'm not sure it needs to be 5 mana though, because it DOES rely on other things being around. Hm. I'm gonna go with "needs playtesting".

>>46022730
Not bad. The tutor seems a bit strong though. UU perhaps?

>>46022265
I think you need "that card" instead of "it" but other than that, looks okay. Rare though, since it's a relatively unrestricted tutor.

>>46022059
Backup is pretty cool, and I liked Soulshift. I feel like it needs to be "un-tribaled" though in a way, at least name-wise. Maybe instead use "Resonant" or something and then change the reminder text to "When this creature dies, you may return target creature card with converted mana cost 2 or less that shares a type with it from your graveyard to your hand." It makes it so you know it can be used on other things more readily.

>>46021907
Okay so this kinda throws out what I just said, if you want it to be able to fetch other types of cards. Well... I dunno then. Damage re-direction is monowhite though; this would need to cause life loss or something additional to need black.

B-But Diabolic Tutor is uncommon nowadays. Well, it's a fairly new concept of red tutor anyway. I'll make it rare.

>Backup is pretty cool, and I liked Soulshift. I feel like it needs to be "un-tribaled" though in a way, at least name-wise. I do have a concern about it too, but it'd be fairly hard to describe since I'm trying to make it the most broad as possible.

>Okay so this kinda throws out what I just said, if you want it to be able to fetch other types of cards. Well... I dunno then. Damage re-direction is monowhite though; this would need to cause life loss or something additional to need black.
It's a heavy multicolored set, so sometimes it happes to have multicolored cards with monocolored abilities.

What about just giving him deathtouch and making it 3WB?

>Not bad. This is very playable in Limited, and I almost want to say it should either be 1G or at least uncommon.
Every set needs some solid commons. Also, it'll be hard to use both hexproof and regenerate efficiently everytime you cast.

>>

That'd let the controller of the enchantment choose the targets.

Which would have been fun but would have made the cost very silly as you'd be able to just feed creatures to your brick whenever they come out.

I wanted to do something completely oddball and came up with this. Urborg, Cursed Graveyard requires a rule adjustment, since you can cast commanders but lands can't be cast, and the intent is that nu!Urborg doesn't wind up costing you mana to keep playing. Fun fact, though: You can slap the Legendary supertype on instants and sorceries and it doesn't technically break any rules.

I want to come up with an artifact and instant legendary commander to complete the cycle, but blue would naturally be artifact and that leaves green with an instant, which feels wrong.

>>46032367
I liked Tomorrow, Azami's Familiar too.

>>46030136
Could use reminder text. Bolster was a mechanic in only two sets. Otherwise, seems incredibly niche unless included in a set revolving around legendary creatures.

>>46029952
Cute way of sneaking in cheap nonbasic land destruction, but results in turn two land D in basically every constructed format against 50% of decks. I'd probably make it 2RR, but even then, ehhh...

>>46029671
>>46029425
Buildup towards payoff. I personally like the second ability more since it almost encourages durdly mill strategies. Ability should read "Whenever a card is put into an opponent's graveyard from anywhere, ..." Also, "Of" doesn't need to be capitalized.

>>46029218
I don't see anything wrong with this. Basic common with an on-color effect. I'd only print it if the set had some sort of hand size theme, which would be odd in and of itself.

>>46028982
"Whenever a creature enters the battlefield, that creature's controller chooses target creature he or she does not control. Those creatures fight each other." Assuming you want to make it mandatory. I'd reduce the cost to 1RR, since it effectively comes with downside.

>>46028898

I don't really know how to reword the ability, but you should use the legendary creature's full name the first time it's mentioned in its rules text, and then you can shorten it afterwards. The ability seems really iffy though, considering damage doubling is a red effect. Also, the ability is just straight weird.

>>46026702
Should enter tapped to match the rest of the Onslaught cycle.

>>46026630
Should also enter tapped, to match the Urza's Saga cycle. Gemstone Quarry should be an uncommon or rare just because that extra ability makes it straight up better than the other cards in the cycle.

>>46025641
Absolutely bonkers infinite regenerator. If it survives long enough for you to untap, it never dies, it just accumulates up to two venom counters per turn until the controller decides to arbitrarily flip it and murder dudes. I'd change it so that it gets a venom counter on upkeep, transform on three, and attach a mana cost to the regenerate ability.

>>46025622
Falkenrath Noble flew and was uncommon, but this card hits all opponents. I don't think that's really worth it. You could afford to make the countess fatter, but she doesn't really scream "rare" to me.

>>46025554
>Ship
First ability should read "... Sacrifice this land: Destroy all nonland, non..." etc. I don't like the repeated board wipe, when all you really need to do is pay 8 mana spread across two turns and sac a land. Seems too powerful.

>>46024419
Second ability doesn't need the "as long as ~ is on the battlefield" part. Also needs rewording. "Creature cards can't enter the battlefield from graveyards." and "Creature cards can't be returned from graveyards to their owner's hands." as separate abilities. Assuming you don't care about exiling creature cards from graveyards.

>>46022751

>>46022730
Probably make the second ability only be for creatures under your control and your own library. Looking at opponents' libraries is kinda ehhhh. Just seems weird to get extra pseudo-benefit off an opponent playing your tribe.

>>46022265
