Honestly? Dragons.

They're just so badass. Recent blocks have made people seemingly hate dragons, but I still love em.

Myr are also up there. Do the Simic mutants count as their own race?
>>
>>43501304
I would count as a separate race.
On the topic of Dragons : I wish that DTK had more tiny Dragons. Not just big ones . That is what sucked about it besides the killing off a great wedge world.

We need more WoW style Goblins. Brilliant, yet incredibly stupid. Still just as prone to die die and die again.

It's also hard to Waifu what are basically rats without Ninjutsu.
As for my favorite race? I really like kor as an albino adventurer race. Vedalken are also great as the "Blue and blue humans".

I hope we get more Satyrs in the future. They're a nice alternative to Minotaurs that give us a tricksy, musical side of red/green.

Also not having arachne but having both loxodon and rhox is a crime.

I hope to see more ainok in the future; they're a good counterpart to leonin.
>>
>>43501930
Well spider people are not a common thing but I do agree I would love them. For now the near archne of the Golgori Swarm insects will have to do.
>>
>>43501872
Have to wonder how many flakes return after hearing about how their plane of origin was getting fucked. Looking at the snowflakes and official planeswalkers though, I'm starting to think irresponsibility is something most have in common.

Where do dragons come from on Theros? They are apparently all descended from Thraxes, but are they born? Kinda spirits like the Tarkir dragons?

Phyrexia: Yes, in fact he might try and side with them somehow. White Phyrexians are almost his ideal state of affairs, they're just too zealous in a religious sense.
Eldrazi: Nope, fuck that noise. He deals with people. Most his magic would barely even scratch an Eldrazi and he knows it.
Hungover Bolas: Might try to cut a deal, but would probably let him do his business and then resume with the benevolent dictatorship once he's done.
Another Planeswalker: Would smack the shit out of that bitch if they touched any of his pet dictatorships.
>Urik
Phyrexia: Would fight them if it really came to it, but he doesn't really consider any plane his "home" so he would probably fuck off to somewhere else and let someone else deal with them
Eldrazi: Would try to eat them to gain their power. Might work and become the Jund version of Drana permanently.
Bolas: Same as Phyrexia
Another Planeswalker: Dinner is served

What happened to Feather after Krenko's UR?

Where the hell did Aurelia and the other Boros angels even come from?
>>
>>43508732
Don't know about Feather.

The Boros angels probably form like other angels: seemingly naturally, like elementals of white and/or red mana.
>>
>>43508732
They won't say
>>
>>43508732
Angels are manifestations of white mana, so presumably the Boros angels have either been tainted like the Fallen Angel or Serena, or are hybrids.
>>
>>43510842
Wait does that apply to Orzhov angels as well, card flavor texts implies that they are unfamiliar to the Boros ones.
>>
>>43512257
There are two types of Orzhov angels.
Angels that said "Fuck righteousness for free, I'm going to be righteous for profit." These can be the random angels, or they can be ex-boros."

Then there's the artifically created by the power of money angels. They're WB and pretty much live by Angel of Despair's flavor text, dutifuly serving their masters.
And yes, dutifuly "serving" their masters as well. That's all-but canon too.
>>
>>43512335
But mos of their masters are ghosts. Are you telling me Orzhov higher ups would let lower ranked members be killed off so they could put a Deathpact Angel in a frilly maid outfit?

Because I'm okay with that.
>>
>>43512558
There are quite a few members of the Orzhov that are still wasting their money on being alive, but successful, much like Teysa. I imagine that they're the ones buying expensive angel ownership contracts to open angel strip-joints to be the bosses of.
This naturally leads to fueds with the local Rakdos rings, who feel the Orzhov are stepping on their turf of sinful entertainment.
And lets be fair, that guy that gets killed off so Deathpact angel can come back to her master in a maid outfit is worth more dead than alive.
>>
So a question for the lore junkies here- when's the last time you've opened product? I recently got the red-black Battle for Zendikar Eldrazi pre built deck, and it's pretty sweet.

What makes it real good is the "cares about colorless shit" theme. Since every single last creature and spell has devoid, any nonland card can trigger Dominator Drone, Kozilek's Sentinel, Molten Nursery, and Nettle Drone.

It's quite fun to play, I'd highly recommend picking it up. (Although finding a Fat Pack would be better, but good luck with that. )
>>
>>43513095
What does that have to do with lore?

We all play the game fairly often...
>>
>>43513095
Like >>43513128 said, that doesn't really pertain to lore very much.

If you're just talking about packs, personally I've been too busy to buy anything recently or play very much.

Okay, how about this: Why do y'all think none of the Eldrazi are in white? It's not even a case of minor splashing- there are like at least 10 Eldrazi cards in every other color besides white.

Wait...

Could Wizards be pushing each Eldrazi to a four color combo to help personify it besides "not the fifth color"?

Emrakul I feel is a BRGW- she doesn't seem very much on intelligence/subterfuge, just big fucking tentacle things.

Kozilek is WUBR then. He doesn't follow the rules the other Eldrazi follow and he's the smartest.

>>
>>43513722
Emrakul not being red doesn't fit since her brood's all red mana
>>
>>43513756

>>
>>43513756
>>43513771
and green, they also come in green
I have yet to see one of her brood come in black, though
Which may be why she's said to leave the most living while being the strongest of them
>>
>>43513782
I actually checked and the only emrakul brood cards (Least with name) are the hatcher, vestige, and hand.
Do feel free to prove me wrong though. I'm not in the mood to sift through flavor text
>>
>>43513816
You'd also have to go through art in RoE to find lattice-structure
>>
>>43513680
They've said that they purposely chose to ignore white with the Eldrazi because it is the antithesis of what the Eldrazi are. White seeks community and to preserve everything. The Eldrazi are solely 3 entities who annihilate everything and don't even cooperate/coordinate with each other.

I don't think they'll ever easily go for 4-color anything. It's hard to describe lore-wise and they can only really describe the concept by what they lack.

Plus with the Eldrazi, it would be awkward just having the three Titans, when there are five 4-color combos, and I hate when people suggest there might be more Titans because it's just wishful thinking to verify what they want.
>>
>>43513851
That idea is bad and they should feel bad for having it
ESPECIALLY since white LOVES to destroy EVERYTHING
>>
>>43513816
as far as creatures go you only missed one in Nest Invader, but I /did/ find a black card depicting her brood in action.

I suspect all the eldrazi are UBRG, and that white may not factor into this, but it could give the potential for multiversal forces /like/ the eldrazi to come in other four color combos. The Nephelim were supposed to be old as shit, primal elementals or something, maybe the things that eldrazi are are like that on a higher scale?
I'm starting to sound like pink, kill me now
>>
>>43513882
>43513882
I can't believe I forgot about squiggly mushroom
>>
>>43513879
White destroys when it is justified. The Eldrazi act in ways incomprehensible to normal creatures and destroy indiscriminately; sentient, creature, plant, land, etc.
>>
>>43513722
>>43513756
>>43513756
>>43513771
>>43513782

Well, we at least have to agree that Ulamog is UBRG, which brings up an unfortunate conundrum.

Eldrazi drone cards in RotE were all depicted in red, green, and black cards (if I remember correctly- there was a trivia article about it not too long ago). If Emrakul and Kozilek Eldrazi are on cards of all Jund colors then this theory falls flat without retconning the brood of some of the original colored Eldrazi Drones.

I also thought about something else- what if Eldrazi are ironically defined by the color they are least, going directly against what I said last time. What does Ulamog leave in his wake? White, chalky dust. I can't think of a waste "material" more white mana than a uniform mass of... mass. So Ulamog is defined by what he doesn't eat- something that exemplifies or is flush with the properties of White.

I've also considered that the "processors" aren't really processors at all- they're parts of other Eldrazi that eat their fill of the dust Ulamog leaves behind.

Also, following this logic means that there were/are/will be 2 more Eldrazi, one each that 'consumes' all but one different part of a plane, and Ulamog eats everything but the actual atoms, leaving fine atomic dust to scatter in the wind.
>>
>>43501836

To my knowledge they are all mirrors of Razia (with the exception of Orzhov Angels, who are created by the Orzhov). As far as why the art of each angel is different? Most likely to prevent cards from getting too boring.

No. Ulamog is colorless.

Cards representing parts of Ulamog's brood cost colored mana, but they're still colorless. They cost colored mana not because they're secretly that color, but for the purpose of actually making them work in the game without breaking the color pie.

The colored mana symbols in the mana cost of a card with devoid are a game construct, not a piece of flavor. They're as relevant to the lore as a wall with boots equipped to it.

For one thing, look at his left leg. See how the rod attachments are placed? He can't actually extend that leg any further without the central rod having to pass through the casing of the anterior rod. But his leg is currently mostly bent. He can bend it further, certainly, but that's at least a mid-stride articulation of the knee.

But, remember, he can't extend the leg any further. So, assuming his legs are symmetrical, his stance is forced into a constant squat. And don't try and claim anything about "muh digitigrade," because that doesn't work for three reasons:
>Digitigrade creatures still have their legs fully extended at multiple points in the stride, so the argument is flawed from the start.
>The orientation of the claws on his feet prevents the adoption of digitigrade stance in the first place, as does the lack of toe joint articulation.
>Jund viashino are crocodilian, and crocodiles are plantigrade.

Speaking of crocodiles, let's look at this dumb bastard's tail. Eyeballing it because I'm feeling lazy tonight, that looks to be at least twice the length of his body. Crocodile tails tend to be closer to the length of the body--not twice it! And he's bipedal, which is going to encourage a shorter tail, not a longer one.

Now, you might think that pangolins are relevant here, being one of the few bipeds with a tail. But, again, pangolin tails are nowhere near the relative length that this dumbfuck is packing, and their "bipedal" movement still has their hands nearly next to the ground in order to balance out the tail.

I could go on about the arms--oh, God, the arms, so much stupidity in the arms--but I frankly have better things to do with my time right now, and am running into the character limit anyway.

That's already basically what you're doing--you're just arbitrarily slapping him onto Magic for no good reason, and pointedly ignoring the fact that literally nothing about him works in context.

I was initially thinking stuff like teleportation, but that's just blue's unblockability. Roilmage-type magic would work fairly well without the controlled frustration that Noyan Dar uses.

Really I think UG would work well just having modal spells and abilities. Different effects that can be chosen from to fit the current situation. Counters, tokens, fog, fight, unblockable, card draw, etc.

>>
>>43519050
>>43519167
I still think we should have a two-to-four week sound-off period to confirm who's still around and who still wants their flakes on the table, just to cut down on the sheer volume.
>>
>>43519216
I already disagree with the fact that we're segregating lore-unfriendly flakes from the rest.

This whole snowflake thing is cancerous, trying to transform it into something only for the 'serious' snowflake-makers will make it even more cancerous. Remember, nothing about this is good, nothing about this is worth being proud of. Your snowflake is just as shit as the snowflake made by someone that hasn't been in a flavor thread since August. Why should we cater to people that are so proud of the shitflakes that they have made that they talk about them nonstop? Realize that they aren't worth celebrating, they're just a thought exercise when we lack anything better to talk about.
>>
>>43519216
A nice little cut-down would really be nice. It might also give people a chance to redo some of their flakes.

>>43519296
A cutdown would be good though. It's less "being serious" and more "that is a fuckton and people have left/don't want to be a part of this anymore"

As for the lore friendly separate. Look at Arakis, now imagine dozens of them. Just because "nothing about this is good" doesn't mean there can't be a standard as easy to reach as "Don't build a Gundam Lizard from Jund"
Like you said, it's a thought exercise, and when you're wrong, you're wrong. That's what lore-unfriendly means. Not "we don't like this flake" but "This snowflake is fundamentally wrong"

Your so obsessed with the "It's cancer" part that you seem to ignore the "It's fun" part.
>>
>>43519296
I don't even have a snowflake, man, I'm just trying to cut the fat.
>>
>>43519468
These snowflakes don't exist within the setting. They're all fundamentally wrong. It doesn't matter whether they abide or not, whether they 'could' exist or not, each one is a piece of horrid self-insertion and none of them are better than any other. If one should be removed, all should be removed.
>>
>>43519532
That attitude only encourages more cancerous behavior. It discourages nothing except for people trying to contain the very things that you hate.

Saying "if one should be removed, all should be removed" isn't going to result in people removing all the flakes, it's going to result in more people doing stupid shit like Arakis and actively cutting down on the quality of actual lore discussion by brutally mangling it.
>>
>>43519564
Then the safest thing to do is to ignore them and to get on with actually discussing the lore rather than making snowflakes or discussing snowflakes.

But we're obviously incapable of that, looking at the chart's state.
>>
>>43519589
>This whining again
We discuss lore when someone brings it up, it happened repeatedly in this thread as well. Then when it goes quiet we start talking about flakes.

If you have lore to discuss, ask a question.
>>
>>43519615
It's not whining. I'm saying that there's no cutting down on quality of actual lore discussion because they is no actual lore discussion, just snowflake discussion - and all snowflake discussion is cancerous and mangling, done when there is nothing else worthy of attention.

I don't mind snowflake discussion, what I mind is people trying to separate it into tiers of quality when all of it is shit.
>>
>>43519665
>>43519615
guys please don't fight this is a place of peace and happiness

would it be better to, instead of trying to argue who should be culled or the like, maybe tier the flakelist on terms of how shit they are, so the most shit ones people can ignore without the removal of them?
>>
>>43519966
That's what he's complaining against, that we tiered the flakes as "lore-unfriendly" and "Lore-friendly"
Adding more tiers wouldn't help appease this anons attitude.
That said how would we even decide that?
>>
>>43501757
I would post my character, but A) I don't have any editing software on my computer and B) that Azorius guy is like 60% of my character.
>>
>>43520074
O no, I do not mean "lore friendly" and "lore unfriendly" I mean tiers like "Minimum shit" "Shit" "Maximum shit" "Beyond maximum shit", or something non-serious like that, to keep things from getting too official a feel to them, because while I don't agree with his attitude that they should not be segregated, I do agree that they are all too shit for any semblance of lore-friendliness to go about them.

honestly, due to the nature of Arakis's multiple instances, any imagining of him could be potentially canon, as no two are augmented the same way. >>43520389
>"Do they work in the lore? Y/N" and "Is their creator still around? Y/N"
That could probably be done through a strawpoll, just to make sure no anon has to maintain a spreadsheet or something.
>>
>>43523617
There doesn't need to be a poll or popularity contest or whatever you think there needs to be. It doesn't matter which snowflakes are super well liked and which ones aren't if they all work in the lore.
>>
>>43523715
I meant more that we could set up a strawpoll with the question being "Please select your flake, if you are still active and still want them on the sheet," rather than needing someone to compile a list of the sound-off.
>>
>>43524252
Oh, that makes sense.

You do know that all the current Uncharted Realms people are glorified fanfic writers that don't care about the lore at all, while the people making "snowflakes" in some way little or not genuinely care about the world of Magic. I've been thinking for a while about lore and I came up with this idea.

We all complain about how the story advances very slowly, but what if we bomb Doug with messages on his Tumblr about doing an Uncharted Realms related thing, like side stories for other characters that aren't even in the radar, like legendary dudes or flashbacks from main characters. Stories that don't interfere with the current arc, things to make current characters or settings (planes) more interesting.

>"While Gideon was whipping and slashing with his sural blade, he remembered when he met a girl on Theros and..."
>"There was a hunter on Shandalar that encounter a giant hydra while taking a piss..."
>"The Orshov priest was surrounded by a goblin mob..."
>"The Leonin was alone fighting the phyrexians when an elf saved his life..."
>"A fisher on Theros was having a good day until a cyclops attacked..."
>"The Angel was flying over Bant when a dragon appear..."
>Etc.

Side stories, tales to make game more rich.

>>
>>43534309
Honestly, I wouldn't doubt it if the reason we're getting a return to Innistrad after a return to Zendikar as the first two blocks of the Two Block Paradigm is because they want to give a bit of lead time to get two blocks worth of world a year, and have the concepting done for returns - they just need to improve and add on to it, rather than start from scratch.
Which is, unfortunately, why both blocks are going to suck ass overall from a lore perspective. Creative is Too Busy.
>>
>>43534373
According to Maro, Return to Innistrad was already planned before the two block paradigm.
Also, I don't think the lore sucks. But they're still trying to get that "flavor through gameplay" thing right. I hope Innistrad will be the block they finally nail that.

>>
>>43553929
>>43554047
Again, I'm not too sure.
Green vs Blue is more than science vs nature, it's destiny vs self-potential.
In normal timelines, and even the one Sarkhan witnessed, Ugin always loses to Bolas, it was fated to be that way. Sarkhan even had a crisis of belief because he felt he had no choice but to accept this. Then he decided "No, I will save Ugin." and saved Ugin. "Fuck destiny" And "taking the future into his own hands" are U and B based on how it's presented. I guess it was in a blue way.

>>43554047
Red has no qualms about being told they're destined to do something, so long as you don't force red to actually do it. Red hears "You're destined to slay the dragon" and red says "Eh, then I'll probably end up killing it" and proceeds to wander aimlessly like an RPG protagonist. Black and Blue are the colors that hear "You are destined to slay the dragon" and go "Fuck you, maybe I'll CONTROL the dragon instead. Fucking destiny, always telling me what to do."
>>
>>43554047
The different colors all have different perceptions of fate.
>W
Fate is good and needs to happen if it helps my people, fate is bad and needs to be changed if it works against my people.
>U
Fate is just another tool for me to bend and twist to my whims. The future is mine to shape into perfection.
>B
Fate is the worst. My actions are not predetermined, I am capable of doing whatever I want. I control my destiny, it isn't already written.
>R
I don't even give a fuck. As long I do what I want, I don't care if it's written somewhere, as long as it allows me to do as I please.
>G
Fate means everything, it is the way things are meant to be and we should all live according to fate and nature's demands.

so shouldn't Sarkhan as RUG should have an absolute neutral opinion of fate, rather than a defiant perspective on it?

Could One Punch Man beat the Eldrazi?
>>
>>43554284
yes, that's literally the only thing OPM can do, beat whoever X is in a OPM vs X fight

His blue comes from his defiance of fate. His red comes from his love of dragons and his damn crazy impulsiveness.
I'm terrible at green, someone else can explain it, but basically it boils down to "You don't have to embody every color perfectly, just enough." Especially since you can't even embody enemy colors "perfectly" at all.

Black is defiance in the face of fate, blue is the intentional manipulation of fate.

So in Sarkhan's face, he's red because of his impulsive nature and his love for dragons, he's green because of the importance he places on fate and he's blue because of his manipulation of fate. See the Temur shaman stuff for how that works.

Who wins?
Big E, right?
>>
>>43554457
emperor's got him on the power levels, but Urza's a crafty fucker and might figure out how to turn E's psionics into a fuel source for some sort of Not!phyrexian death machine and use it against him.
The Emperor would still probably win anyway, but y'know.

Elementals, especially Lorwyn's elementals.
They have the potential to have extremely wacky abilities that just can't be found on other races, and can accommodate other races' abilities if designed properly.

Is Multani the most lore-relevant Elemental, by the way?
>>
>>43554560
Multani can't really be described as lore-relevant while using the present tense, given the whole "dead for over half the lifetime of the game" thing. Even when he was, Titania might have been able to give him a run for his money.

We currently have Ashaya as the Silent Bob to Nissa's Jay. On Lorwyn, we had Ashling. Oh, and there's Omnath, but I don't think he's ever actually been lore-relevant.
>>
>>43554548
If they weren't trapped together until one of them died, Urza could fuck out of the plane 40k takes place on and keep coming back with bigger and bigger things to throw at Emps.
Hell, Urza puts more time into planning than the Emperor does and would probably breed a thousand generations just to make some guy who stabs Emps in the dick.
>>
>>43554647
Omnath might be relevant, because he's right up next to Kozilek as the terrain suggests.
>>
>>43554548
Lets be fair here, to my knowledge, Emps has been fighting tzeencth and the other chaos gods telepathically while on the golden throne. And Tzeench is a crafty guy too, or so they say.
>>
>>43554457
Yawgmoth and the Chaos Gods win, due to their opponents being distracted by a dickwaving contest

>Also, following this logic means that there were/are/will be 2 more Eldrazi
I'd have to track down the source, but I distinctly remember it being said that there were quite intentionally NOT five Eldrazi Titans specifically to drive home them being outside of color. The color pie pushes us to think of things in terms of five and multiples thereof, and to expect cycles in those numbers, so they set out to disrupt those expectations to add to the alien-ness of the Eldrazi.
