Multiclass out.
A bit more seriously, the class gets Rebuke Undead and has no alignment restriction, from what I remember. I believe the cheese involves multiclassing to Cleric with Turn Undead - since the two act as independent pools - and then get some abilities that rely on Turn/Rebuke charges to activate. Extra Turning could (depending on DM interpretation) apply to both, giving you even more uses.
Other than that, I've not heard anything outstanding about the class.

Mystic Theurge is better for straight up necromancy.
And pure Cleric is even better than Mystic Theurgue.
Soon I'll be playing a Siege Mage in Pathfinder and I'll be using the undead to eventually man my Fiend's Mouth Cannon.
1. Take the feat that treats you as undead for the purpose of pos/neg energy.
2. Abuse your at-will negative energy touch to heal yourself to full after every fight.
3. Wear the best light armor you can find.
4. Between starting every fight at full health, access to light armor (eventually medium armor made with the right material -- mithril I think), and the DR you start getting at level 2, be a surprisingly tanky caster; with Fear Aura a couple levels later, you should have little issue leading your undead minions from the front.5. Use a very loose reading of Scabrous Touch to give your Cancer Mage ally the disease that gives +STR; bonus points if they're the race that can treat STR as their casting stat.
Whats your favorite bone?
I love the fourth rib on the left side.
