Say you wanted to completely fuck someone based on their class without killing them, how would you go about it? Cutting a wizard off from whatever the source of magic would be pretty obvious or stripping a barbarian of nearly every emotion.
I'm asking because I'm designing a couple of NPCs for an upcoming game, their story is that they were adventurers who decided to take on the Unseelie court a decade or two ago and lost, but instead of killing them the Unseelie stripped them of their means of resistance to watch the adventurers suffer before tossing them back into the world.

Mind rape is a pretty universal way to do it you're going a Fae route. Any kind of mental block that prevents them from using their abilities.

>Barbarian
No longer able to feel emotion, as you said.

>Bard
Forgets his musical talent and practice, forcibly made tone deaf.

>Cleric
Mental block on his faith, unable to even think about his god or religion or forced disbelief in the divine.

>Druid
Disrupt training and enjoyment of nature, unable to feel empathy for the wild, possibly an irresistible urge to stay in urban environments.

>Fighter
Make him forget all his weapon/armor training to the point he's barely able to even recognize them or tell weapons apart. Add in general uncoordination and klutzyness, too.

>Monk
Forgetting training, inability to feel inner peace or enlightenment, can't relax enough for meditation, etc.

>Paladin
Combo of Cleric and Fighter.

>Ranger
Same with Druid and Fighter.

>Rogue
Again, forgetting training and experience, made mentally unable to make precise movements without shaking, or removing volume control coupled with a kind of tourettes.

>Sorcerer
More about forgetting experience than training, along with a mental block on storing magic in their mind. Maybe removing their control so their powers go wild to the detriment of themselves and everyone around them.

>Wizard
Inability to remember spells and all they've learned or more or less all you need.

Couple these things with a block on the ability to learn or retain specific relevant information, so they can't retrain themselves but are still capable of functioning in non-adventuring life, stuck with the knowledge that they'll never be able to become powerful again.

Do you want to make an encounter or just tell a story? If the latter, anything that could break a normal man works, really. It doesn't have to be specifically "HE WAS AN ARCHIVIST SO WE BURNED HIS LIBRARY DOWN" for everyone, you might not convey any message if you focus too much on classes instead of actual adventurers.

>Cutting the thumbs off the wizard.
>The more intense his emotion, the colder the Barbarian gets.
>The Clerics heals wounds by taking the target's wounds upon himself.
>>
>Not cutting off fingers, tongue and plucking out eyes of caster BBEG and then letting him "live" as a beggar that isnt even able to ask anyone to fix him, while he totally and painfully remembers his former power, but can't do a shit

Every bathrobe faggot that choses the wrong side deserves this fate

wow them some fucked up elves. I hope u come back and give us some good news when those PCs encounter them. and hope those old npcs get better.

Well, if depending on how death works in your setting you could pull the old neverwinter nights dick move.

They killed the characters, but resurrected them to just kill them again until they dropped back down to 1st level and had to rebuild from there.

wait why would fae mess with a druid?
>>
If we're talking about D&D

>wizard
steal spell component's pouch
>cleric
steal holy symbol
>druid
steal holly&mistletoe provided they're not in a temperate european countryside
>non-monk martial
steal weapon
>monk
no need

OP mentioned the Unseelie court, which can be found in the Shadow Rifts in Ravenloft.

They are evil Fae that were artificially created and were twisted by the Shadow Rift, turning them into psychotic sociopaths.

Bondage seems a pretty good way to go about it. Maybe get some more people in, make it a threesome. If that's not an option, look around for some sex toys.

I don't reckon that anybody here is gonna judge you for going outside your social class.

I think it would be more punishing for a bard who requires precision to be able to tell tone but to have incredibly shakey fingers. As an ex-musician who can no longer play because my hands are fucked, it's pretty horrible to be able to recognize something beautiful but know you'll never be able to play it again.

Plants and small animals die in a small area around the druid.

It'd be pretty difficult, considering some social rogues have pretty high charisma and probably know most of the tricks in the book. I am of the belief that dangerous women do not desiree stability, they've chosen the life they have because they want to live dangerously. Their ideal man would be a Dark Triad type of guy, so to win over her heart and by extent her loins you must be bigger, better, faster, sneakier and more dangerous than her. The James Bond to her Bondgirl, so to speak.

You'd think a paladin is easier because she has restrained herself and is most likely inexperienced in romance, but fucking her is quite an ordeal. Whereas a rogue is incredibly easy once you appeal to her tastes, a paladin will take years to put out for you. Even if you're a smooth operator, it might take months just to move past the "holding hands" stage, at which point they've already become clingy enough to consider you future husband material.

Just stick with NPC tavern wenches.

Nay, with fucked up fingers he would just play punk rock or progressive jazz.

The bad guy from the Order of the Stick, before he was undead, attacked a high-level druid's sacred grove for plot reasons. She infected him with a disease that fucks with the part of the brain that allows spellcasters to channel magic, permanently disconnecting him from his sorcerous powers. This is a guy who cares about being powerful and basically nothing else. The effects were permanent. He took it, uh.. poorly.

The barbarian literally loses control when they lose control, only able to watch as they rampage aimlessly until passing out from wounds or exhaustion.

The bard can no longer hear anything sensible. All music sounds discordant and broken to their ears, all voices speak as incomprehensible babble. Their own voice comes out as an unbearable screech.

The cleric's prayers go unanswered. Every night they experience dreams of rejection and betrayal by their own god, riddling them with persistent doubt.

The druid causes animals to flee their presence and plants to wilt at their touch. Any attempt to channel nature's magic leaves it irrecoverably defiled.

The fighter becomes aged and enfeebled. Whatever skills they have simply can't be performed in their crippled body.

The monk loses emotional control, swinging wildly from highs to lows unable to find any calm. Ki is simply impossible to properly channel, any attempt backfiring and blocking pathways, harming their health more and more.

The paladin dreams of committing crimes and atrocities and wakes to find evidence of it actually happening; knowing the faces of those who turn up dead, finding implements of the crime on their persons, etc. Added effect is everyone is innately distrustful of them, appearing sinister or vile in some way.

The ranger cannot tolerate their favored terrain; becomes violently ill, senses diminished, etc. Alternatively, they become increasingly feral, losing speech, loping on all fours instead of walking, feeling impulses more animal than man.

The rogue is plagued by bad luck. Every lockpick breaks, bowstrings snap, they trip over their own feet at the worst times, any game of chance results in loss, etc

The sorcerer simply loses all their innate abilities but remain otherwise fine.

The wizard cannot remember spells, or anything else for that matter. Their long term memory progressively fades and short term is utterly shot, as if suffering dementia.

You can still appreciate beauty, still know it exists in the world. We can't be having that.

Or perhaps everyone appears sinister to the paladin. They can no longer differentiate good and evil, becoming insanely paranoid and seeing enemies everywhere.

I agree with all but Sorcerer. Not only must you take away the power that makes them unique, you must take away they uniquity as well, making them not only ordinary but completely blant and forgettable. For socerers, individuals of high charisma and big ego because of being gifted, idea of completely loosing all of their "spark" should be suffocating experience.

A curse of normalcy on the sorcerer, no matter how they act no one will pay them much mind
