Hamilton is simply too easy to hate. I think he's a good driver but he's so fucking whiny and pompous that I really couldn't consider myself a fan of his, no matter how much I sometimes admire his qualifying pace. His absolute shit in a crowd though which is what I respect more than just raw pace.

Wow. I love Weichai now!
>>
>>69272855
That wasnt even remotely Hamilton's fault. He was much faster simply went to pass him on the inside. Rosberg tried to cover Hamilton too late and cause the crash. Its that simple.

I think the only reason rosberg wasnt penalised was because they knew he had a wrong engine mode.
>>
>>69272918
if Spain were truly Rosberg's fault then he would have been penalised
>>
>>69272855
Spain was a racing incident. Both share the blame equally, or neither are too blame. Rosberg went to cover at pretty much the same time HAM went for the gap
>>
>>69273048
Then we can agree to disagree that it was just a racing incident then. (a racing incident caused by Rosberg)
>>
>>69272918
>would have been penalized
They were in a tight spot regarding that. Penalise Hamilton and you are sending the message that high risk passes are not ok
Penalise Rosberg and you are sending the message defending yourself from passing is not ok

They both have been punished from the incident because they crashed
>>69273037
Lauder blames Hamilton. He could have avoided the crash and still passed.
He went on the suicide passing attempt Rosberg went on the suicide defence attempt
Both parties are at fault but if Hamilton didn't force the situation hiw he did he would have passed and won. It was a bit of a battle of egos and they both lost
>>
>>69273037
>Rosberg tried to cover Hamilton too late and cause the crash.

The incident concerned started when Car 6 dropped into an incorrect power mode, as set by the driver prior to the start. This created a significant power differential between Car 6 and Car 44 at the exit of Turn 3 coming onto the straight, resulting in as much as a 17kph speed difference between the two cars on the straight. Car 6 moved to the right to defend his position, as is his right under Art 27.7 of the Sporting regulations. Simultaneously Car 44 as the significantly faster car with, at that time, apparent space on the inside, moved to make the pass. Art 27.7 requires the leading driver to leave room, if there is a “significant portion” of the car attempting to pass alongside. Car 44 had a portion of his front wing inside Car 6 small fractions of a second prior to Car 44 having to leave the right side of the track to avoid an initial collision, which may have led him to believe he had the right to space on the right. Once on the grass on the side of the track Car 44 was no longer in control of the situation.

Having heard extensively from both drivers and from the team, the Stewards determined that Car 6 had the right to make the maneuver that he did and that Car 44’s attempt to overtake was reasonable, and that the convergence of events led neither driver to be wholly or predominantly at fault, and therefore take no further action.
>>
>>69273147
How the fuck hamilton forced the situation? He was faster, there was no reason for him to brake. The only person that forced something was rosberg when he saw Hamilton trying pass him, started chocking like he always does, and pushed Hamilton out of the track with a tatally late and amateur move to cover the inside.

Lauda just likes to be controversial. Ok, the guy in front has the right to cover his line but if you do it that late you shouldn't be surprised if both of you crash out.
>>
>>69273268
Except he wasn't late. Hamilton never got enough of the car alongside Rosberg.
>>
>>69273268
>he saw
>late
>do it that late

They moved at the exact same time.
Rosberg wasn't reacting to Hamilton. He was reacting to being in the wrong engine mode and knew Hamilton was behind him somewhere and knew Hamilton would be quicker. He decided to cover the inside and moved across.

At the same time Hamilton saw Rosberg's slower car ahead and went for a pass on the inside where there was at the time space.
They both went to the same spot and 2 does not go into 1.

Neither driver did anything against the rules.
>>
>>69273197
>incorrect power mode
fuck this shit. why is it "incorrect"? the driver/team should be able to put the car in any power mode they wish.
>>
>>69270814

It was basically a harvesting mode that you wouldn't used when defending at the start of the race.

Charlie saw him reversing and waited for him to get into his slot and then hit the lights.

Why are people arguing over who was at fault? This was 100% clearly the fault of both. 50/50. Nico went far too wide like a bitch, he plenty of room inside, and Hamilton clearly cut down like a bitch, he had at least a full carwidth outside. That's ridiculous and both drivers should be penalized by the team.

rosberg lost the lead when he clipped the inside curb through the turn before the crash. rosberg should have let hamilton through, got a good exit and then attacked him through the next few turns, but since rosberg knows he can't beat hamilton fair and square he decided to spear into the side of him and almost caused another double DNF

>>69278787
No one's talking about Spain you moron.

Hamilton had plenty of room outside. Are you denying that? He chose to come down when a driver was underneath him, and cause a collision. He was just as guilty as rosberg.
>>
>>69278703
I know, I'm saying it was Rosberg's fault. But Ham could have easily avoided the collision. He chose not to, which is fair to him, since it was being presented to him. Hamilton knows he can't back out of a "we're going to have a collision" situation, or risk losing the psychological edge he has over other drivers. I actually admire him for this as it isn't something many drivers have today. It still makes him far from innocent in the situation. All the hate is in backlash to Hamilton fans acting like they've just had a collision on par with Jerez '97. Doesn't make it correct but when people act like something is unarguably something it isn't, people get assblasted.
>>
There no way Mercedes keeps both drivers next year. If Hamilton wins the chip this year, rosberg is clearly leaving. But what if Nico holds on and wins it? Would they really fire a driver who just won the title for them?

yet he won the race
i think i've come to realise that hamiltons true genius is his ability to dance up and down the lines between legal<>illegal and that'sracing<>that'sdirty and get away with it
at austria hamilton either didn't know that rosberg stayed that close to him and turned thinking he was fine or he knew he could turn into rosberg and get away with it because the optics would make it look like it was all rosbergs fault and the penalties and damage would more likely end up on roseberg
rosberg tried to play a game of dirty chicken with a guy whose an expert at playing dirty chicken and got beaten by experience
>>
>>69279190
i think it would have been stupid it he damaged and ruined his own race, instead it worked out as a dirty (but completely legal) tactic which only hurt rosberg, both in terms of what happened in the race and the steward decision

i think he left it wide as fuck for rosberg and didn't see how close they were, rosberg was smack bang in his blindspot
>>
>>69279190
hamilton was turning first and rosberg was in his blind spot. there's no way hamilton could have known rosberg would ignore the turn entirely and head straight off the track just to hit him. there's a reason rosberg was penalized for this. it was a desperate and reckless move by rosberg.

it reminds me of senna vs prost at suzuka 1989, except senna had much more to gain from crashing out his teammate

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDAGmI6SH3k
>>
>>69279119
This is probably bait at this point but I'll take it. I'm firmly in the Rosberg is at fault camp, but your argument about Hamilton being in the lead, having track position, and deserving to concede the position is wrong. If Rosberg had just turned in a little earlier and ran him out wide Hamilton style it would have been perfectly clean racing. Rosberg was in the lead and had track position because he was closer to the apex and not floating far on the outside.

>>69279303
>>69279332
I can see this being true. Hamilton knows Rosberg is somewhere there and probably could have been more cautious. I mean that's why Rosberg is at fault there and got penalized because Hamilton could have legitimately though Rosberg had turned
>>
>>69279332
>senna vs prost at suzuka 1989
I think you have the 1990 Senna and Prost incident in mind there. iirc Prost stood more to gain in that situation in 1989 and that's why he ran into Senna
>>
is http://whenisf1on.com/ broken?
>>
>>69279347
hamilton had the faster line and the finish was only a few seconds away. rosberg had already lost the lead before the turn. that's why he tried to crash him out
>>
>>69279405
It's weird because the incident itself is more similar to '89, but he is clearly describing it in terms of '90
>>
>>69279119
>>69278924
>tfw if Rosberg was more to the left this would have been a great defensive move

If he was just next to Hamilton he wouldn't have been able to turn first and Rosberg would have been able to force him to run all the way along the white line on the outside. Hamilton could then chose to run in a 1 car gap or bail and go off which would be his own fault.

As it is Hamilton turned in first and at that point Rosberg has to react and can't in time.
>>
>>69279405
>>69279446
i thought senna won the 89 title for some reason
>>
>>69279422
Hamilton had the faster line if Rosberg had not still been partially alongside him and in the way of him taking the corner, Nico wasn't just going to disappear. You can speculate all you want as to Nico's intentions, we will never know the truth, but I legitimately think rather than trying to crash Hamilton out he was just trying to block him and not allow him through. For me that's the much more reasonable and simple option, Occam's razor and all that.
>>
>>69279494
No worries m8. To be fair the real controversy of that incident wasn't the actual collision itself it was the disqualification afterwards.

I'm having a hard time finding exact evidence of what he was disqualified for. In the grandprix.com link in the text it states he was excluded for missing the chicane, but in the results table it lists him as being DSQ for a bump start. So I don't know what to believe. Basically it seems like he was DSQ for both things.

Hmm it says here it was for rejoining after using the chicane escape road but WTF, what if someone outbraked himself? Sorry, race over, can't rejoin? It doesn't make sense.

Which also points to a conspiracy against him because I could actually understand being DSQ for a bump start, but for missing a corner? PSSHT. FISA was sending a subtle message.

Also what was up with ADDITIONAL sanctions being levied on appeal? IT was total BS against senna and/or McLaren.
