When will Raleigh/Durham get an NBA team? Currently the RDU area is a larger television market than : Memphis, New Orleans, San Antonio, Salt Lake City, Milwaukee. Raleigh has only 1 sports team in the least popular sport, and their team (hurricanes) is the least popular team in that sport. The Raleigh/Durham area is rife with basketball loving people. College teams like UNC, Duke, NC State fill arenas each season and people make the 3 hour drive to Charlotte to see the Hornets. NBA players like Tracy Mcgrady, John Wall, Chris Paul, Kent Bazemore, PJ Tucker and more are all either from Raleigh/Durham or live in a neighboring city. Honestly no other city is more deserving of a NBA franchise. The infrastructure is in place, the city has shown it can handle sport events by hosting the NHL all star weekend in 2011, an event that drew thousands of people. Can anyone else see this happening?
