This has always been the hardest course for me to race in games. Not sure how they can put these cars around the track but maybe I outdrive the tires. Or I'm not used to seeing the camera angles because it's a natural road course.

Usually the engine starts a misfire or some other mechanical failure. Brakes, brake lines. Gearboxes and gears are usually good but I could be wrong. They don't have synchros and dog gears are a fair amount stronger.

I've heard the argument about symmetrical but it makes no sense from an engineering standpoint. You put bigger tires on the right side, they're subjected to more force. You need to be allowed to make harder right side setups for oval racing. You get more fluke mechanical failures with symmetrical because of fatigue that an inner side can't do unless you over-design and waste way more material on the left. And it's stupid to run heavier gauge gear on the left side if you don't need it.
I want cars to look like less shit versions of what ARCA use. No valence, or way increased ride height.

The more important thing I think matters is if you set up a car properly, you're keeping reasonably similar temps in the tires aside from the rears. More traction is always better so make use of all the tires. A lot of teams and people don't seem to care about that because that's what they used in the 70s-early 00s and it's what their fathers or mentors taught them.
The "clean air" happens because with the way the aero package that got made in the past few years had a higher coefficient of drag than the car ahead of him. That makes borefests like the Brickyard and it literally does not benefit you trying to get a tow from the car ahead of you. You're helping the person you're drafting more than yourself.
