Concerning Nato, it is about the same as you : the dude is coming from nowhere, surprising everyone. I didn't expected him to be in the position he currently is, given the weak 2015 season with Arden (that was once a great team before collapsing). He is the UFO of GP2, at least for the last 5 or so seasons. The only thing that might be ever more surprising might be Markelov racing for the title from start to finish of the season. I'd wait the RBRing or Silverstone to have a defiitive idea about him ; just the thig is, little is known a about his sponsors (if he has any).
As for Gasly,everyone is seeing some potential but the thing is, I disagree. I don't see him being in F1 for the sole racing performances since there is noe catching my eyes. I'm not worrying to see him in F1 next season, seeing how the things are unfolding at Toro Rosso since both Sainz and Kvyat have a high chance of quitting the team at the end of the season. He sure has some speed, but the fact is I find him overrated and that he still lack the one race or sequence of results and racing pace that may overturn that statement. In short, He may go to F1 next year but do not get your expectations too high, because it is going to be a stepdown for STR.
The one driver I want to see is Ocon, but this is also considering he is currently struggling in DTM. I still wonder what the fuck happen in Nicolas Todt's mind to think it was okay to put him there when he can do a GP2 season.

When over half of your races are won from pole, and none of your races are won from outside P3, it's not "racing", it's a procession.
I think if they did something simple like using a rotating starting grid based on the first qualification of the season, or the first race results, it would make the series better due to the fact that it would create more passing that actually mattered, as opposed to simply lapping the back markers. So if you quali / win the first race, than the next you start in the back, and then move up the next race, etc...
Regardless, the competition in F1 is pretty much non-existent, as the race is settled during quali...

There are different kinds of racing.
There is Nascar racing where overtakes happen everywhere and everyone is on a leveled car. And there is F1 racing where overtakes are more rare (specially on the top of the field) and you have to be patient and choose the right moment.
What is good about F1 is when any overtakes happen its something special, there is a lot more at stake in each move, each pass. Its a strategic game.
Sure if there is very very little passing, races become boring but like you said, F1 never had and never will never have a lot of different winners because there is always going to be one team with a better car. That is the nature and the fun of F1, the technological improvement, the engineering, the different solutions to the same problem. This is where big part of the competition is.
