Imo the premier league structure should change, there are too many big teams in england and too many (imo) are languishing in irrelevance and too many teams are completely disconnected from any meaningful matches towards the end of the season.
I would love the league to be split into two groups of 16 teams that play a regular seasons, with the top six teams qualifying for playoffs
The #1 team skips the first step. Then the remaining 10 teams get placed into a group stage with the third and fifth placed teams from one bracket playing the second, forth and sixth placed teams from the opposite bracket. The top three teams qualify for quarter finals that are drawn randomly where you add in the teams that got a bye.
Quarter and semi finals are played home/away with the final at wembley.
It would be a double elimination bracket with 3rd/4th etc finals to determine european spots.
Bottom two teams are relegated from each bracket then before each season the groups are redrawn based on seeding from the previous season.
This would lead to more teams in the prem and more meaningfull matches that matter to the fans as theres a greater chance to qualify for the playoffs.
So basically more fans get more of a reason to support their local team and get the chance to experience premier league football.
