I agree with everything you said about the Texans except for the fact that the defense is NOT better.
In fact it's worse. Jared Crick's departure to Denver leaves a hole at the other DE spot that has yet to be filled. Dunn and Still are not suitable replacements.
They still need better than average safeties as well. (KJ Dillon will NOT be starting, I guarantee it.)
Plus, Clowney needs to step up his game.
And they're hoping that a fifth round pick (DJ Reader) can give Vince Wilfork a breather at DT.
But yeah, the offense is definitely improved on paper. I'm cautiously optimistic that Osweiler will be at least better than Schaub in some respects (one of those being his ability to stand in the pocket and take a hit to make a throw instead of curling up in the fetal position whenever the pass rush comes).

Of course there's no guarantees on Osweiler, but you have to admit that he's automatically better than what they had last year.
At worst, he'll probably end up like Schaub (hopefully minus the horrible collapse at the end of his Texans tenure), which isn't terrible, just average with spots of good.
Plus he has some toys to work with on Offense, so there's some potential there.
